New BIOS v1.9 for Neo4 Patinum fixes USB 2.0 problems

The biggest ever (look at the filesize of the bios) BIOS for K8N Neo4 Platinum has been released today. Having in mind how dodgy the previous v1.8 was all they say is "Improve compatilbility problem with some USB 2.0 devices". Well I am with v1.6 and I have problem with Smart CPU target - it does nothing - at 40c CPU fan is running at full speed well below 40c. Sometimes when the mobo decides it starts at half speed, goes to full when CPU temp over 40C, but when CPU temp goes back to 37C it still runs the CPU fan at full speed.
TIRED OF FLASHING. MSI FIX ONE THING, RUINS ANOTHER.AND SO ON AND SO ON AND SO ON..................................... ....................

Well I did have some problems with USB 2.0 External drives so my mother board came with BIOS V1.6 I Jumped and upgraded the Bios to V1.9 and men this has been a circus of problems from Unstable to weird Raid messages but the biggest problem is that the system wont turn off the PC or restart???? from wondow the monitor goes black and the pc keeps working???, I did everything posible in the world to fix this problem and nothing
I hope MSI fix this problem there is a lot of people having the same problem this is my first MSI MB and happens when you change from ASUS or ABIT :( crap!
There is something really disturbing if yo go to the main MSI Computer website -> USA the bios goes from V1.5 to v1.8 and if you go to the msi.com.tw they have V1.6 to v1.9??? it will be good that those guys from MSI have the same thing in both places for the same NEO4 platinum MB???
well go back to v1,6 or wait for the new Bios

I noticed that there are some fairly new BIOS versions available for the MSI Neo Platinum v1.0 (7030).
I'm currently on BIOS version v1.7 and that's been stable.
Has anyone tried version v2.1 ?
I've heard bad things about v1.8 so I'm not messing with that.

i only updated BIOS when i was trying out some overclocking, and it gave me some better results, than when i was with BIOS 1.4, which i had used for a year previously with no issues
if you don't need to update BIOS, then you don't need to update BIOS; its not like updating a driver

WARNING !!! the new BIOS (5.2) for 645E max U won't boot with ad

I've just tried to flash the BIOS 5.2 for the MSI 645E max U, and my computer didn't boot after that ! (I've an adaptec 29160).
I tried to reinstall windows XP, and nothing... no recognition of my hard disk, despite it is recognized in the list of bootable devices in the bios setup.
I came back to version 5.1, and all is ok now...
Hope you will fix that in the next version !

Definately not the power supply .. I just tried a 350 watt and a 430 and still same issue. There's only 2 parts I haven't replaced ... the motherboard and the cpu ... so it's got to be either one of them but I don't have any xtra gear here to try :(

New BIOS (v2.5) for G31M3-L V2 breaks overclock on E5200 CPU

Hello everyone! First of all, excellent forum... lots of great info on here.
Over the weekend, I successfully flashed my G31M3-L V2 to v2.5 BIOS. My system setup is as follows:
MB: G31M3-L V2
CPU: E5200 (12.5 x 200, 2.5GHz)
Memory: 4GB (2x2GB) GSkill DDR2 PC6400 4-4-4-12
With the previous BIOS v2.4, I was able to run the system at 12.5x320 (4.0GHz) very stable... and have been running it at that speed for over 3 months now. However, after I reflashed to v2.5, I noticed the following anomalies:
1) System default boots at 6x200
2) If I leave all other system settings default and only change:
A. FSB: 320, Multiplier: 12.5
B. Memory bus ratio: 1:1.25 (800MHz)
System does not boot anymore! After downflashing back to v2.4 and changing only same two settings above (2A, 2B), system boots fine at 12.5x320.
I'm not sure what happened, but something with v2.5 effectively killed my G31M3-L V2's overclocking capabilities. For now, I'm running v2.4, but would like to know what changed and why my very stable overclock went out the window when upgrading to v2.5.

Excellent news Jack, thanks for the good news & confirmation! I did see some other changes such as LAN ROM update and something with USB 5V adjustment, so I wasn't sure if those were critical updates that I was missing out on if I stayed at v2.4.
(Anytime I see voltage and power being tweaked, it gets a bit worrisome if I don't have those fixes in place. )
Thanks again, and will continue to use v2.4 as it's worked brilliantly so far!

HI all any ideas when new version be out for minor bug fixes? like the mem usage for some people that see it and the like. i personal have know issues with mem usage.

If the memory isn't released when closing windows and tabs or the program is quit, or if plug-ins are eating up memory, I think it is loading depending on available memory, so maybe it is just written for modern systems. Vista caches as much as possible, more memory, more gets cached.
On Apple's OS X, it easily eats up 300-900MB on a 4GB system.
If you want a smaller footprint, just use Firefox 3.0 (Minefield).

I found some info on the Toshiba US site but nothing about BIOS designed for the European laptops.

SLI issue with N660Ti-2GD5/OC (new bios request)

Hi,
It started all with issue regarding SLI performance under F1 2012 game.
When SLI is enable I can't get more then 30FPS average. I try changing SLI rendering mode with no luck... nothing change.
I noticed that when SLI is enable I only get 25% GPU usage per card and my 3D GPU clock is not reaching MSI declare speed.
When SLI disable everything is working normally. I get 58FPS average, 95-100% GPU usage and my 3D GPU clock is working at MSI declare speed (I think it is 1020MHz).
So I suppose that this is negative SLI scaling...
I was doing some testing and SLI (I have enable show SLI visual indicator) doesn't work properly in any game that I have install on my pc (F1 2010, BF3, BC2 and NFS Shift).
I have same issue in all games: low gpu usage, 3d clocks doesn't reach declare speed (with three, two or only one monitor connected).
So next I installed Heaven Benchmark 4.0 and started testing and for some unexplainable reason SLI is working normally.
After that I started games again but no GO ... again in games SLI is not working correctly.
I was thinking that maybe my SLI profile are not working right... so I decided to change driver, I try 320.14 and 314.22 nothing change - SLI not working correctly.
Then I download nvida inspector and try to define SLI profile for those games - nothing change - SLI still not working correctly.
I even try to disable first card through device manager so I can test the second card and vice verse, separately both cards are working normally.
So only in Haven benchmark 4.0 SLI is working correctly I have GPU usage of 95% and declare speed for 3D clocks.
I have Win8x64 (fresh install), nothing overclocked, I enable Prefer maximum performance in nVidia drivers and disable V-sync. CPU Fx-8350, Asus sabertooth fx990 rev.2 (latest bios), 1200W chieftec power supply and everything is properly connected.
Is there a new bios release for my cards? Maybe this could solve my issue? And who can supply me with new bios?
Sorry for long post but I am really desperate... any thoughts or maybe solution.

Well my monitor doesn't support more then 1680x1050, but still if this is the case I think that ATI is the way to go... my humble opinion.
So now I can sell my second card because SLI doesn't work... I am totally depressed.
Ok but can someone please,please supply me with new firmware for the cards? I just one to try it just to know that I tried everything before I go and sell those cards and go for ATI solution.

Bug of Dv6500 new bios ! Please help !

Hello to everyone.
Yesterday I downloaded a new bios sp52477AMD.exe for my laptop pavilion Dv6500.
Everything went smoothly as at the end of flashing procedure I got the message of success.
At the following reboot, all the leds were illuminated and the fan started running a few seconds,
but the display remained black.
After having took out the power cord, the battery and the mercury cell, I pushed down the on/off
switch for 30 milliseconds before putting back the power cord. Unfortunately, the display still
remained black.
I would be grateful if you could help me.

If you haven't a backup for the 300 pictures, they are unrecoverable.
However, you'd better have a try with a third iPhone recovery software like on this blog.
