To sync with MS Outlook you will need the latest BlackBerry Link on the computer, and the Z10 must be using OS 10.1 or above
Using the Playbook and the Z10 and the Z30 and loving them

  • New blackberry curve 9380

hi i just got myself a new blackberry 9380 i set it up and put it on charge how long should i charge it for for the first time ive been told different things by different people
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You don't even have to charge it the first time, although it is a good idea if the battery is close to dead.
The Li-Ion batteries are not as the old Ni-Cad type batteries that need a certain charge the first time of use, these do not have the memory effect.
But anyway, charge it up and use it. You can charge it to 100% and no more. So, ever how long that takes...
Here are some good charging tips, please read and you'll see that many of them will apply to you.

  • A New BlackBerry 10.1 Update Available Starting Today

From the Inside BlackBerry Blog today:
For those of you enjoying your shiny new BlackBerry 10 smartphone, we’re delivering another update to the BlackBerry 10 version 10.1 software that will be steadily rolling out on carriers around the globe. To bring software updates to you, we work closely with our carrier partners through a certification process.
Before we get into the features of the update we want to let you know up front when you can start to expect the update in your region. Note that carriers in some regions may take longer than others based on their individual processes. As you may know, we announced a BlackBerry 10.1 update at BlackBerry Live in May and some of you may have already downloaded that update. To be sure you’re getting all the goodness we’ve built-in since then, look for OS version number of 10.1.0.4181 / 10.1.0.4537 or higher to confirm you have the latest update. You can find the OS version number you are currently running by going to the System Setting, selecting About, then selecting OS from the drop down Category menu.

  • Corus360 releases Remote360 support for new Blackberry devices

Atlanta, Friday 13th, 2010 - Corus360, a RIM Select Alliance Partner based in Norcross, has released an update to their Remote360 software which allows it to be now used for support of the new BlackBerry 6 OS and the new BlackBerry Torch smartphones being released by AT&T later this week.
Remote360 is an award winning software that was created by a team of developers at Corus360 and is currently in use by several companies in the United States and other countries to support their BlackBerry® users.
“Corus360’s investment in developing Remote360, an application that can greatly reduce the time to resolution for mobile device issues, results in both time and cost savings for our clients,” said Ted Chappell, EVP, Professional Services of Corus360.

Remote360, similar to remote desktop for laptop/PC support, allows support personnel to operate the devices as if they have them in their hands. BlackBerry® 6 is the latest OS released by RIM (Research in Motion, the makers of BlackBerry) and Remote360 has the capability of supporting this OS. The BlackBerry® Torch, their new device, which comes pre-installed with BlackBerry® 6 will go on sale this Thursday by AT&T. AT&T has an exclusive to carry the new Torch and it was announced this past week in a press conference with RIM.

  • Blackberry 9380 Continue Restart

    Dears,
I have Blackberry 9380 and  I purchase it before 10 months. Now some day I face the problem that the phone restart automatically any time any situation. Please help us how could i resolve it.
    Thanks

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain directly connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB, not a cradle):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
    Remove the battery
    Wait 15 minutes
    Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain an known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem. Note carefully please that "new" and "know good" are not necessarily the same things. While rare, a "new" battery certainly could be defective. Rather, the simplest (and least costly, btw) method to conduct this test is to find someone with an identical BB who has no issues...trade batteries and see what happens.
Failing that, I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:
KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode
It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, see what happens.
If the behavior ceases, then think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.
But if the behavior continues in Safe Mode, then you may need to consider more drastic actions -- WIPE, OS Reload, BBSAK Wipe/Reload, and the "Bare Bones" OS Reload Process. To prepare, you should be sure that you have a full backup to your PC...please review the Backup link in my auto-sig on this post for instructions.

  • Transfer old blackberry device data to new BlackBerry 10 device, without old blackberry device

    Hello,
I recently bought a new BlackBerry Q10, I had a BlackBerry Bold 9790 running on OS 7 before this and I had backed it up from BlackBerry Desktop Software. I had no knowledge that BlackBerry 10 devices don't work with BlackBerry Desktop Software, so I sold my Bold 9790 and then bought a Q10. I need to recover all the data of my old Bold 9790 to my Q10, but sadly Q10 doesn't work with BlackBerry Desktop Software. If I download BlackBerry Link it will ask me to connect my old device to transfer files.
So basically I need to transfer the backup file of my old phone to the new phone.
    Please help me out. Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

First, the device has been out for over a year and a half.  BlackBerry has put the information out there.  I easily found the information below with a quick Google search that brought up this article, KB33322
While it hasn't yet been updated to reflect the latest update to Link, I made a few minor changes to the instructions to get to the same options in the new version of Link.
Media Files saved on the device internal memory will be transferred if you check the box for "Media files saved on internal memory."  Media files saved under Content Store on the old device will not.
    Here are the instructions:
Connect the BlackBerry 10 smartphone to the computer using the USB cable.
At the left side of the BlackBerry Link screen, click name of the BlackBerry 10 smartphone.
Select Restore Device > Legacy Device Backup Files.
    Select the desired backup file.
Select the data to restore to the BlackBerry 10 smartphone. To restore all supported data, select the Restore all data check box.  To choose the data to restore select Custom Restore.
Note: For a description of the BlackBerry smartphone databases, refer to KB03974.
    Click Restore.

  • Transfer Data from Palm OS to BlackBerry 10 Smartphones - US

(I am Posting this a 2nd time because I'm not sure it went through the first time; got some kind of authenication error message.)
    - 1. What is the best way to transfer my PIM Organizer Data from my Palm TX to a BlackBerry Z10?
    - 2. How do I obtain the standalone BlackBerry Desktop Software, latest Build of v.6.1? or even a version later than 6.1? or should I obtain v.5.0.1? or v.4.7?
I am currently a U.S. Cellular customer and when they make the BlackBerry Z10 available, I plan to switch from my Motorola feature phone to the Z10. I currently also use a Palm TX PDA (Palm OS Garnet v.5.4.9) and use Palm Desktop Software v.4.2 ( = the CD installation version of
v.4.1.4e?) on a Windows XPmachine. I could upgrade the Palm Desktop to v.6.2.2, but I haven't because v.4.2 on Windows XP is working well for me.
The support page for Z10, Transfer from iPhone & Android to BlackBerry 10 Smartphones - US ( http://us.blackberry.com/support/transferring-to-bb10-device/personal.html ) implies that it does not support direct transfer from Palm OS to BB v10; only transfers from Androids and iPhones, as well as from other BBs, are supported. I have searched your Knowledge Base and found several articles that tell me how to migrate my PIM data from Palm OS to earlier versions of BlackBerry. I then presume that once I have my data imported into the earlier version of BB Desktop I can then later import it into the BB10 Desktop software; am I correct?
Here are the Knowledge Base articles I found:
    1. Article ID:
KB03050 ( http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB03050 ) - How to transfer contact information from a Palm OS device to a BlackBerry smartphone
    2. Article ID:
KB04346 ( http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB04346 ) - Field mapping list for the PIM Data Migration Wizard
    3. Article ID:
KB04437 - ( http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB04437 ) How to use the organizer data migration wizard
    4. Article ID:
KB05421 - ( http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB05421) What is the Switch Device Wizard?
The four articles all give slightly different advice, but
    Articles # 2 & 4
imply that I can export the PIM data from Palm to BlackBerry Desktop Manager
    v.5.0.1
and seem to have the most simple and clear instructions. However,
    Article #3
implies that I should use BB Desktop Manager no higher than
    v.4.7
    , and
    Article #1
implies that I can use BB Desktop Software as recent as
    v.6.1
and use "Method #2", which seems very long and complicated by transferring data to
    Microsoft Outlook
    as an intermediary step!
So I am confused as to which method to use.
Articles #2 & 4 & BB Desktop software v.5.0.1 seem the simplest, but if I need to use the latest possible version, 6.1 with Outlook as an intermediary to get superior results, then I am willing to follow this more complicated method as described in article #1. I want to use the method that will give me the best results with the lowest error rate, even it may be the most complicated way.
    ... Help!
    P.S.
    I also use
Agendus for Windows Palm Desktop Edition v.5.42( http://www.iambic.com/agendus/winpded/):
"Agendus for Windows is an application that enhances how you view your calendar, contacts, tasks and memos. It also provides intuitive tools, such as text capturing, a free time finder, voice recording, advanced search capabilities and Internet features (weather, driving directions, address lookup). All of these things help in make scheduling extremely easy and hassle free."
It can form hypertext links between the separate databases of the Palm Desktop (calendar, contacts, tasks and memos) so you can flip back & forth between the databses without having to close one before you open the other.
    There's also an
    Agendus for BlackBerry version (
    http://www.iambic.com/agendus/blackberry/
), but was developed pre-BB 10, and I think the code is sufficiently different between the BB and Palm versions, that I don't think it is easy to transfer data between them since the BlackBerry version synchronizes with Agendus for Windows Outlook Edition ( http://www.iambic.com/agendus/winoued/).
When I transfer my PIM data from my Palm to a BB-Z10, will I be able to keep those active hypertext links in Agendus in the transfer and still have them work?
    P.P.S.
    I also have
Palm Desktop by Access v.6.2.2 ( http://kb.hpwebos.com/wps/portal/kb/na/tungsten/tx/unlocked/solutions/article/32859_en.html )installed on a Windows 7 machine, but I find that v.4.2 w/ the Windows XP machine tends to work better. However, I am willing to use whatever combination of Palm Desktop version together with Windows OS version that will get me the best and most accurate results. Palm Desktop v.6.2.2 also has an extension called Palm Conduit Switcher Application (OutlookSwitcher.exe v.1.3.0, which is accessible through Start > Palm > PIM conduit sync > Sync with Outlook) which supposedly will change my Palm handheld to sync w/ Outlook instead of with Palm Desktop; would that accomplish the same thing as Article #1 (ID: KB03050 > Method 2 > Tasks 1,2 & 3) and maybe be easier or do it better? But it would seem that the KB03050 method would leave my Palm Desktop intact, whereas the OutlookSwitcher application could delete my Palm Desktop in a process that would convert my data permanently to Outlook; am I correct? An earlier version of OutlookSwitcher.exe also is included in Palm Desktop v.4.2.
There are so many questions and options for me, I don't know which way to go! If you and your colleagues don't know the best way either, then I will most likely follow the advice in KB03050 in conjunction w/ upgrading my Palm Desktop to 6.2.2 on my Windows XP machine, since I would have the most control over datafield mapping, and the extra work spent doing that may pay off with a smaller error rate after the transfer, which gets me back to my second question at the top of this article: How can I obtain a copy of the latest Build of BlackBerry Desktop Software v.6.1 as a stand-alone application into which I can transfer all my PIM Data first, *before* I install & syncronize the new BB10 phone? Or should I use a version later than 6.1?
Sorry for this being so long and convoluted, but after going through all the permutations and combinations, it should be obvious to you that I now need the support of someone more expert and experienced in this before I do anything else. Thanks!

    Hey telemarkdoc,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
Currently you can not transfer data from a Palm smartphone to a BlackBerry 10 smartphone through BlackBerry Link.  Also previous versions of BlackBerry Desktop Software will not work with BlackBerry 10 smartphones.
The only way this could work is that you transfer the information from the Palm software to Microsoft Outlook and then BlackBerry Link can synchronize the contacts and calendar information to the BlackBerry Z10.
    I hope this helps.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
    Cheers.

  • Need help blackberry 9380 v7.1.0

need help.. i have blackberry 9380 v.7.0.0 and i want to update it to 7.1.0. The problem is when i check it on the software updates under device option it says "Your Blackberry is up to date". then i plug in to my computer and check updates under desktop manager it says no updates available.
what will i do to update my bb curve 9380 to v 7.1.0
    please need help!

    1. Download the OS from here (it may not be your carrier but it doesn't matter):
    https://swdownloads.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=7D2A383E54274888B4B73B97E1AAA491
    2. It doesn't hurt to do a manual backup of your device first, using Desktop Manager > Backup. Close Desktop Manager upon completion and unplug BlackBerry. You can get BlackBerry Desktop Software here http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/
    3. Download the OS file from step 1 to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
    4. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Also check the following locations for vendor.xml files and delete any instances of the file:
On Windows Vista/7 navigate to C:\Users\YOUR_USER\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML (Where "YOUR_USER" is your username)
On Windows XP navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR_USER\Application Data\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML (Where "YOUR_USER" is your username)
    5. If you're simply updating the OS to a newer version skip this step. If doing a clean OS reload use BBSAK from BBSAK.org and wipe the device (after doing a complete backup) then after you get the error 507 (no OS installed) then proceed to next step.
    6. Plug in BlackBerry and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader

  • I am looking into Buying Retail a New Blackberry Q10. Doing this to avoid having to Give up my old Data Plan. Have read that when you activate a new Phone it forces you to pick a new Plan. Is this True? and How to I avoid this? 20 Year Verizon Client

I am looking into Buying Retail a New Blackberry Q10. Doing this to avoid having to Give up my old Data Plan. Have read that when you activate a new Phone it forces you to pick a new Plan. Is this True? and How to I avoid this? Any other advise in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
    20 Year Plus Verizon Client

The only "unlimited" plan I can think of where this would not apply is the old Connect plan for multimedia/basic phones.  That unlimited data, on devices such as the LG Voyager, EnvTouch, and other "multimedia" devices is  not the same.
If you currently have an individual $29.99 unlimited data plan with a 3G Smartphone, then you can buy a BBQ10 retail and activate it with the same data plan and keep the unlimited.

  • Can't transfer all my address book to new blackberry

    can someone please help.
i am currently in the process of transfering across from my old 8300 to a new 8520.
only problem is that only 350 contacts have migrated across out of a possible 600 contacts.
I have had problems with outlook losing the contacts, however the contacts are still there on my old 8300.
Any ideas how to get them across.
tried backing them up using the desktop manager but for some reason it won't work either.
Someone save me a lot of hard work.. please

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Since you did not state exactly what method you are attempting to use, I can only suggest the device switch wizard:
KB16291 How to use the Device Switch Wizard to switch to a new BlackBerry smartphone
However, given all that you have stated (you only have 350 of 600 during whatever migration method you are using PLUS the fact that you lose contacts in Outlook as well), I am suspicious that you may have a corrupt record somewhere that is causing both problems. You might try discovering where exactly it is stopping and seeing if that one record is the cause of all of your problems.
Also -- please expand on all of your symptoms...saying "it won't work either" gives us absolutely nothing to go on...
    Thanks.

  • Issue with brand new blackberry

    hello guys
iv just bought a new blackberry from my local phone shop and stupidly said to the guy i would be able to set it up as im a techy guy (usually fixing every one else's problems) and being a iphone user, mac, windows and android i assumed the blackberry would be as easy..... but i was wrong it seems
so a little back ground,    im on the 3 network, with "all you can eat" data as my tinternet (which coveres my blackberry, bbm ect)
i cant set up my blackberry pin or ID or anything on the device (therefore the blackberry world dosent work nore anything else)  it keeps telling me the phones not connected to the network (when it clearly is if i can view the bbc or any other random website i choose) i can install apps through the browser though
this is on wifi,  on the phone network it dosent even go that far
the error when trying to sign into blackberry ID - unable to connnect with blackberry id. please sign in now (stupid question as i cant???)or try again later. data services are required for blackberry id and can be turned on in the mobile network settings
    any ideas at all?
    thanks guys
    Gaz

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Start by getting your voice services (calls, voice mail, SMS) working...without those, nothing else will matter. Make 100% sure that those are working via the carrier network (turn off WiFi to be sure) before you proceed -- bypass any prompts or anything else it requests concerning data (e.g., skip over the BB ID login). If they are not working, then ring up the provider for assistance.
After voice services are working, then with a strong carrier network signal (again, not WiFi), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app
    2) Delete and Resend Service Books (pre-BB10 devices only)
KB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphone
If you have no CMIME entry, then skip the deletion
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
    3) Reboot
Pre-BB10 Devices ONLY. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
BB10 Devices. Hold the top button down until the counter reaches zero. Wait for the device to be fully shut down (e.g., nothing at all displayed on the screen, no LED lights, etc.). Hold the top button until the red LED is lit. Wait through the full boot-up process. IF this fails, you can attempt the battery-pull method above, but it is normally NOT recommended unless nothing else works.
See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should contact your mobile service provider for formal support.
    Good luck!

  • Stuck abroad with new Blackberry, cant register with BB Service

Hi there. Does anyone know how I can register my new Blackberry Curve 9360 whilst in Qatar when my home network is 3UK.
Have tried 3UK for support and they have no idea. They suggested a Blackberry store, but they dont exist in Qatar.
Have tried updating the Host Routing Table and get the message "Registration message queued. It will be sent once data coverage is available.".
Anyone please help.. Need to get my new phone active.

    Hi adriansoper,
    Welcome to the Support Community!
I would advise verifying with your current wireless service provider that you have the correct services enabled for your BlackBerry® Curve™ 9360 smartphone to roam outside of your wireless network.
    Thanks.

  • Create a new blackberry i.d

    hi
is it possible to create a new blackberry i.d on  a blackberry that already has a blackberry i.d set.
the blackberry i.d is blocked cos the pin was put in wrong and the recover email just doesnt seem to be working so i want to create a new blackberry i.d.

    Hello,
While it is possible to create a new BB ID and shift your BBs association over to the new BB ID, the "cost" is that you lose all of your prior AppWorld records, including purchased apps. There is no automated method to move that data to the new BB ID...it would require human intervention at RIM in order to migrate AW records to a new BB ID.
If all of that is fine, then here's what you do:
KB26694 How to change the BlackBerry ID on a BlackBerry PlayBook tablet or BlackBerry smartphone
When you finish the WIPE, the BB should reboot...as it comes up, you should be prompted for BB ID...at which time you use the "create new" selection.
    But...

I have seen reports of that recovery email taking up to 2 hours to come through (due I think to backlog related to the BBM 7 release). Also, you must have access to that email account from OTHER THAN your BB...webmail, PC/Outlook, something; for security reasons, the password reset email is not delivered to the BB, no matter what email account is used.
Good luck and let us know!
