New BlackBerry phones

Several new BlackBerry phones were recently announced and several carriers announced their intent to sell them. But no announcement from Verizon. I am a long-time Verizon customer looking forward to upgrading from my original Storm. I'm not interested in Android or Apple phones. I intend to buy the new BlackBerry 9850 (CDMA version of the new full-touch screen model) and would like to stay with Verizon. It would be great if a Verizon rep could respond regarding company plans.

Wireless inductive charging is the future.  If only the standards could get sorted out.   Starbucks is trialing Powermat technology, while BlackBerry and other phone vendors experiment with Qi.  It will probably be a while before a "winner" emerges and until then it'll be a mish-mash.  But yeah, I'll take wireless charging over a charging cradle any day.

  • Where I buy new blackberry phone?

    Hi,
I wanted to buy new z10 and today I went to the authorized blackberry shop in kalyan W Mumbai, India. And I shocked after getting information about blackberry product. I came to know that blackberry has stopped manufacturing new phones and there is shortage of phones in the market hence those shops Don't have blackberry, even I had gone to 4-5 wellknown shops in kalyan to buy. Same answer I got even from them. I'm really disappointed after hearing this.
Please can anyone tell me where Z10 is available in Mumbai?

    Hello,
Unless some other volunteer here happens to work for the distribution channels that support your region, it is highly unlikely that anyone will be able to actually give you an answer. The answer to your question requires "insider knowledge", and such is typically restricted from being revealed here in this user-to-user community. But...

That is not at all accurate, so I would not trust those who told you that. BB continues to manufacture, either directly or outsourced via the various companies they have publicly revealed as having partnerships with. So that statement is simply false. It is sad that so many shops told you the same thing...perhaps they all receive their devices from the same distributor, and perhaps that distributor is not telling them the truth. There is no way for us to know...all we can do is guess.
    Good luck!

  • Native Exchange support on new Blackberry Models?

Greetings, I have been told by a coworker that all newer Blackberry phones support synchronization with a Microsoft Exchange Server natively. Probably through OWA, though i'm not certain. We're not talking about BES servers or BIS accounts, just pure native support on the phone itself. As in, input OWA address, username, and password, and BINGO! all your mail, contacts, calendar entries sync beautifully between the phone and the server. Is this true? If so, how do I set this up? If not, I'll have to go another route and install BES. Basically, I need three separate Blackberry devices to be able to sync their e-mail, contacts, and calendar with a 2010 Exchange Server, if there is another way of doing this without using BES, please let me know. Thanks in advance!

There is no way to wirelessly synchronize  your contacts, calendar, tasks or memo pad using the BlackBerry Internet Service. The only way for wireless synchronization to take place from Microsoft Exchange to your BlackBerry device is to use the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
    Hope this helps.

  • Restoring data onto new blackberry from Blackberry Protect, last restore was from my stolen Blackberry Style 9670

Help!  My Blackberry Style 9670 (BB OS 6) was stolen.
My data was backed up daily by Blackberry Protect and nowhere else.
Will newer Blackberry Phones be able to access and restore my data from Blackberry Protect, or must I find me a refurbished BB OS 6 phone or?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

If your phone is running OS 7 or earlier, you'll be able to access that data backup; BB10 phones cannot restore data from BlackBerry Protect.
    BB10 phones are the Z10, the Z30, the Q10 and the Q5.
    Cheers.

  • I am looking into Buying Retail a New Blackberry Q10. Doing this to avoid having to Give up my old Data Plan. Have read that when you activate a new Phone it forces you to pick a new Plan. Is this True? and How to I avoid this? 20 Year Verizon Client

I am looking into Buying Retail a New Blackberry Q10. Doing this to avoid having to Give up my old Data Plan. Have read that when you activate a new Phone it forces you to pick a new Plan. Is this True? and How to I avoid this? Any other advise in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
    20 Year Plus Verizon Client

The only "unlimited" plan I can think of where this would not apply is the old Connect plan for multimedia/basic phones.  That unlimited data, on devices such as the LG Voyager, EnvTouch, and other "multimedia" devices is  not the same.
If you currently have an individual $29.99 unlimited data plan with a 3G Smartphone, then you can buy a BBQ10 retail and activate it with the same data plan and keep the unlimited.

  • Many Recurring Problems w. new Blackberry Curve - 3 new phones in 2 months

I got the new blackberry Curve on Jan 1, 12 and right away started experiencing problems with the texting (as I have seen many on here having the same issue as well) - I am unable to scroll through texts. Switching it to "stripes" and not "bubbles" does not help. Pulling the battery doesn't even help anymore. I've had the phone exchanged twice already and each time, have had the same issue.
The other problem is that my internet consistently freezes on me - pulling the battery will only help for me to load the internet page fully once, then immediately stops loading after that. This is beyond frustrating and I don't see the point in exchanging the phone over and over again when clearly it is an issue with the curve itself. Please help! I really cannot be pulling my battery 20 times a day to perform the simplest  of tasks.

    Clarification to the above:
Running chmod on a given mbox file didn't help Mail import it. It still imported a folder that's empty and that would disappear after quitting and restarting Mail.
    New mystery involving Smart folders:
Mail was able to download mail that was on my POP server (since September). I defined a few smart folders (to identify mail from given senders). These Smart folders see some of the messages from my backup. If I try to click on one of those old backed-up messages, it says that the message "has not been downloaded from the server. You need to take this account online in order to download it." But I don't have an IMAP account. Does this tantalising hint suggest that Mail sort-of sees my messages, and if it sort-of sees them, can we make Mail really see them?

  • Looking for a new PDA/Phone

I'm looking for a new PDA/Phone that is iSync 2.4 compatible for my new AT&T account. I will switch to iPhone early in the new year but need a PDA/Phone now. Appantly AT&T is out of Nokia PDAs' at the moment.

But I can not find a list of compatible devices under 10.6 . Only a 10.5 device list is online.
The 10.6 iSync Compatible devices list is still up-to-date except for the references to Palm devices. Apple has not added any new devices to iSync since Leopard was released in October 2007.
Mobile me and other work arounds are also not an option for me , as I travel allot and the international data roaming charges would easily exceed the price of the iPhone within one month.
MobileMe works over WiFi too, so you could just turn off 3G/GPRS data whilst roaming and sync when connected via WiFi.
So, I am looking for a good / small / stable pda/phone with a good keyboard that can sync Ical / and address book over bluetooth.
Do you mean a you want a physical QWERTY keyboard? That's going to limit your choices considerably, and any Windows Mobile or Blackberry devices will need third-party software to sync with a Mac. Palm's WebOS is not yet syncable with a Mac except for going via Google over-the-air, and the same is true with Android devices.
There are hundreds of Nokia & Sony Ericsson phones that sync via Bluetooth and have POP3/IMAP email clients, but almost all don't have a QWERTY keyboard.
Also, unless you buy the phone unlocked, you'll be even more limited by what your network provider offers.

  • Transfer old blackberry device data to new BlackBerry 10 device, without old blackberry device

    Hello,
I recently bought a new BlackBerry Q10, I had a BlackBerry Bold 9790 running on OS 7 before this and I had backed it up from BlackBerry Desktop Software. I had no knowledge that BlackBerry 10 devices don't work with BlackBerry Desktop Software, so I sold my Bold 9790 and then bought a Q10. I need to recover all the data of my old Bold 9790 to my Q10, but sadly Q10 doesn't work with BlackBerry Desktop Software. If I download BlackBerry Link it will ask me to connect my old device to transfer files.
So basically I need to transfer the backup file of my old phone to the new phone.
    Please help me out. Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

First, the device has been out for over a year and a half.  BlackBerry has put the information out there.  I easily found the information below with a quick Google search that brought up this article, KB33322
While it hasn't yet been updated to reflect the latest update to Link, I made a few minor changes to the instructions to get to the same options in the new version of Link.
Media Files saved on the device internal memory will be transferred if you check the box for "Media files saved on internal memory."  Media files saved under Content Store on the old device will not.
    Here are the instructions:
Connect the BlackBerry 10 smartphone to the computer using the USB cable.
At the left side of the BlackBerry Link screen, click name of the BlackBerry 10 smartphone.
Select Restore Device > Legacy Device Backup Files.
    Select the desired backup file.
Select the data to restore to the BlackBerry 10 smartphone. To restore all supported data, select the Restore all data check box.  To choose the data to restore select Custom Restore.
Note: For a description of the BlackBerry smartphone databases, refer to KB03974.
    Click Restore.

  • New Blackberry Z10 User (Multiple Questions)

    1.  I used to be able to input all my email accounts online.  For example sprint.blackberry.com.  I tried att.blackberry.com; however, it indicates my operating system is no longer supported with my new device.  Does anyone know when this capability will be available for the BB Z10?
    2.  Since I no longer have access to number 1, does anyone know if I can automatically have messages I send from my phone to be forwarded or blind copied back to me?  I need to keep a record of all emails sent.  I found the email signature option - just not the blind bcc option.  This was previously avaialble with the online functionality.
    3.  When using the new Blackberry Link software... does anyone know if I can view all the changes that will be applied to my device?  For example, I used to be able to select get details for confirm calendar edits prior to accepting the synchronization.  This is extremely helpful for me since I bill based on what is in the calendar.  Having the system just place information on my calendar will not allow me to easily find what needs has been added, deleted or changed for billing, etc.  I REALLY NEED THIS FEATURE!  Is there any other way to obtain it?  I tried view the information in the log files; however, it doesn't present the changes in an easy to read format as it used to.
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

What you are referring to is a function of BIS, which was required for legacy devices. BIS is not used on BB10 devices...hence, nothing associated with BIS applies to BB10 devices. To specifically answer your question...I believe the answer is never.

Again, that auto-BCC function was provided by BIS, which is not used in BB10. Hence, you must find another method. Typically, the solution is provided by your email server...you would have to talk to that admin to find out if such is available to you.

The LINK software is very different from the legacy BB Desktop Software. What you see is what is available.

  • New Blackberry 10 Sync to Outlook

Most every business is using MS Outlook for their email. I cannot understand for the likes of this, why the Z10 Link software does not offer this very important feature???
When out on the road we take notes and make new email entries. When we get back to the office, it is critical that we have an easy way to get the phone synced up to our email system on the computers. Having to take the time to manually type in the new information in to Outlook is another loss of valuable time when we are rushed to get things done.
I know of a fair number of business associates and also clients who are putting off getting the Z10 because they need this feature. They are doing many emails and taking many notes during their mobile activities. When they get back to the office, it is a quick process to sync their present BB phone with Outlook and get their work done.
I cannot understand who would think of leaving out such an important feature!
I remember when the Playbook came out there was no built in email client or spell corrector. It was bug riddled in many aspects on top of this. Because of this RIM lost out on big potential sales. The early versions of the Playbook were useless to non Blackberry users, because the only practical way to get email done was with using the Bridge mode.
Now they came out with a top qualtiy high tech business phone, and there is no local email sync capability to one of the world's most popular email programs. This is like throwing a crowbar in to the works!  Also having sync capability to Thunderbird is another big plus to have done.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Last evening I spent about 2 hours cleaning up my 1500 contacts in Microsoft Outlook 2010, ensuring, numbers were inputed correctly, deleting older contacts, adding new ones.  Making sure my calendar was updated, and also my notes.  I was preparing for my Z10 that I picked up this morning.
Perhaps it was an oversight on my part, perhaps I assumed that since Blackberry Desktop has synced my desktop Outlook for the past 10 years that it'd be no different with the Z10.
    Was I ever wrong.
I thought I downloaded the wrong software  with the BB10 Link, but I looked again, and I looked everywhere in the softawre.  I was nearly going out of my mind until I did a few google search, and there are literally hundreds of posts in the last few weeks regarding this no sync issue.  I guess I wasn't the only one who found out the hard way.
I love the device, it's quite awesome.  The internet is fast.  It's well designed.  I'm not crazy about how the new BBM works since I like seeing all the BBM contacts in a window rather than only seeing them in contacts or when I click on create new message.  But I could live with all of that.
I am not about to export my contacts into a CVS file, then upload them to my GMail account and then have it synced with my new Blackberry.
There are millions of users who use the desktop software to sync.  I agree with the OP, how could this be that big of an over sight for users at RIM?
At the end of the day, I switched back to my BOLD 9900 and have returned the Z10.  Despite every great aspect of it, the syncing option was definitely a make it or break it for me to use the new phone.  I already carry an iPhone around as my multimedia phone, so not having all that extra jazz on my Bold sucked, but at least it worked as my primary phone for business.
This seriously a collossal over sight - Blackberry - Please fix it!

  • Vendors saying BlackBerry phones are discontinued

This might not be the right place to post this but I had a frustrating experience yesterday at a Wireless Wave location.
I was trying to get another SIM card and unlock my phone to switch providers and the rep kept trying to get me off BlackBerry.  He said that the Z10 and BlackBerry phones in general were discontinued.  They had one Z30 in stock he tried to sell me but Fido would not do a term on it again because as the rep said "they are discontinued".
I was not trying to switch phones I just wanted a new SIM and to unlock my phone.  I told him I liked my Z10.  I was curious about the Z30 but wasnt interested in another term (I switched from Bell because of billing issues and I still have time left on my term with them).   He was really trying to push me to Android.
I doubt that this is isolated to this particular rep or this particular store.  I was seeing a girl in San Diego and seeing as she mostly wanted to just text and email I suggested that she look at a BlackBerry to see if she liked it.  The Verizon rep said "getting a BlackBerry is a bad idea" and wouldnt even let her try the phone out.  He ended up selling her an Iphone5.
My point here is that I'm a BlackBerry fan.  If I wasnt I would have walked out of that store with a different phone and left the platform.
BlackBerry, you need to do more to get these on-the-ground vendors on your side.  The phones are fantastic.  Maybe take the stock writedown on those Z10s and send sales reps out to the individual stores to turn the vendors onto BlackBerry or something?  I've seen little to no advertising and if the places people go to buy phones are telling customers who are specifically asking for BB products not to buy them you wont turn this ship around.

Im quite well aware of whats going on with BlackBerry, I work in financial services and we follow the markets (BB stock up 33% this year!)
I'm also a proud Canadian and happy to have a Canadian product.  Blackberry phones work great here, I've had a guy with a Samsung Galaxy side by side on the same carrier who was in and out of service and I was getting full bars when camping.
Just that the frontline vendors persistently trying to talk me out of my BlackBerry when I'm obviously wanting to keep it I could only imagine someone who likes their blackberry but isnt a fan and doesnt have as much loyalty would be gone.
I know how these guys work, they work for spiffs when they sell a phone.  Maybe if BlackBerry offered a vendor spiff directly it would change their mind.  These guys make like 15-50 for each phone they sell even if it's on a term.

  • Issue with brand new blackberry

    hello guys
iv just bought a new blackberry from my local phone shop and stupidly said to the guy i would be able to set it up as im a techy guy (usually fixing every one else's problems) and being a iphone user, mac, windows and android i assumed the blackberry would be as easy..... but i was wrong it seems
so a little back ground,    im on the 3 network, with "all you can eat" data as my tinternet (which coveres my blackberry, bbm ect)
i cant set up my blackberry pin or ID or anything on the device (therefore the blackberry world dosent work nore anything else)  it keeps telling me the phones not connected to the network (when it clearly is if i can view the bbc or any other random website i choose) i can install apps through the browser though
this is on wifi,  on the phone network it dosent even go that far
the error when trying to sign into blackberry ID - unable to connnect with blackberry id. please sign in now (stupid question as i cant???)or try again later. data services are required for blackberry id and can be turned on in the mobile network settings
    any ideas at all?
    thanks guys
    Gaz

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Start by getting your voice services (calls, voice mail, SMS) working...without those, nothing else will matter. Make 100% sure that those are working via the carrier network (turn off WiFi to be sure) before you proceed -- bypass any prompts or anything else it requests concerning data (e.g., skip over the BB ID login). If they are not working, then ring up the provider for assistance.
After voice services are working, then with a strong carrier network signal (again, not WiFi), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app
    2) Delete and Resend Service Books (pre-BB10 devices only)
KB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphone
If you have no CMIME entry, then skip the deletion
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
    3) Reboot
Pre-BB10 Devices ONLY. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
BB10 Devices. Hold the top button down until the counter reaches zero. Wait for the device to be fully shut down (e.g., nothing at all displayed on the screen, no LED lights, etc.). Hold the top button until the red LED is lit. Wait through the full boot-up process. IF this fails, you can attempt the battery-pull method above, but it is normally NOT recommended unless nothing else works.
See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
