Web-based blogging systems tend to be more robust than iWeb's and add new features throughout the year — not just annually. WordPress has a lot of new options for configuring the different screens and adjusting the layout. If you'd prefer something simpler, there's Posterous, which can accept blog posts (including images) via email. Also note that you can hyperlink to any web-based blog from your iWeb site.

I am using Windows 7 and ever since my last update to firefox 8, the browser seems to hang up when I open a new tab from a link. This happens when I go to a news story or even when I go to your support window.

I have tried to disable all my add-on modules but it doesn't make a difference. I have run chrome alongside Firefox and can open all the tabs fine, and I can watch Firefox just spin the processing icon and never load. I can hit the reload tab a bunch of times and sometimes part of the page will appear. If I hit the refresh tab while its processing sometimes it will bring up the page.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

I cannot sync new playlists from iTunes PC to my iPhone

I have read through many Apple support topics and how-tos, I have tried everything I can to get iTunes to copy over/ sync new playlists from my PC. Doesn't matter if I select manual choosing of music, or select individual playlists, update my preferences, or drag the playlists over to the iPhone... every single time I try syncing the result is that those new playlists NEVER APPEAR on my iphone. I do usb syncing, wifi syncing... nothing will work.
This is incredibly frustrating!! Now I understand why so many of my friends are just giving up on Apple products.
Why does such a SIMPLE process not work???

Apples update to iPhoto 11 (9.4.1) seems to have corrected the probem! I can selectively sync photo albums and events again. If anyone else is having the problem update to 9.4.1 !

Whenever I updated or downloaded a new app from the App Store, a message appears saying:

I made some research online and asked a few of my friends with the same problem. All they did was sign out of iTunes from settings>iTunes & App Stores or from the App Store itself and signed back in. It worked for many of them but not with my iPhone 4s. It really does get on my nerves to always sign out and back in to the App Store as it sometimes works and allows me to update and download or most of the time it doesnt.
When viewing my Apple ID account on my iPhone (after entering the password) it either views my account or says:
"This Apple ID is only valid for purchases in the U.S. iTunes Store. You will be switched to that Store. Try your purchase again."
So I press on OK then either switches me to the App Store app of its choice, or says "Cannot connect to iTunes Store".
I tried restoring iOS6 hoping it was a bad installation, but i still have the same problem.
Can anyone help me please?

Are you sure your AppleID is NOT tied to the US store? If you are trying to buy an app from the Swedish store you will be unable to do that. Some apps are only available on certain stores. That is why you get the "Cannot connect to the iTunes store" message when trying to buy that app. Your updates are being done from the US store ; thats why you can update sometimes and sometimes not.
If you keep encountering problems contact iTunes support. They will help you sort it out.

New Project From MS Powerpoint

Hi,
I've just installed and licensed Captivate 7. I am having problems using the New Project from MSPowerpoint or the Insert / Powerpoint Slide option for a Blank Project. I have tried this with both .ppt and .pptx files which I can open and save in Powerpoint 2007.
When I try to create a New Project from MSPowerpoint Captivate tells me it is parsing the file, then it converts the slides (only 2 slides in the presentation), and then it freezes, and does nothing and I have to close the application down from Task Manager. Creating a new project and then using the Insert / Powerpoint Slide option also freezes. I have tried this with more than one Powerpoint presentation. I have also tried this with 'Run the program as an Administrator' set.
I have also installed the 7.01 update, and uninstalled and reinstalled Captivate to check my installation.
Has anyone got any ideas as to how to get Captivate to import slides from Powerpoint?

Refreshing/deleting the Preferences folder is not mentioned, but that recommendation can be found in a lot of threads in this forum. Clearing cache regularly is another good practice, not with the files you are actively working on (they provide means to recover a file, besides backup that is by default not checked in Preferences).

How can I transfer new music from a different iTunes onto my iPod without erasing the music already on it?

I have music on my iPhone and iPod nano from my old computer back home, and am now at college 2 hours away with my new laptop and a different repertoire. Just to be safe I tried syncing my old iPod nano with my new iTunes and rather than adding the music to my iPod it replaced all the music already on it. Is there some way I can stop this from happening with my iPod nano and my iPhone, or am I just going to have to copy everything onto CD's and do things the hard way? If anybody can help me they'll have my undying gratitude.

Help, my new Blog entries, since iLife '08 upgrade, don't show ANY text!

Ever since upgrading to iLife '08, my new Blog entries do not show any of the text once it is uploaded to the server. In fact, all of my recent Blog entries now have all thier text gone when viewed online. Only Blog pages in "Archives" are still normal. What gives?! They all look good in iWeb, but not live. Hi Cedric. I went ahead and took down all recent changes to my site, and then just re-uploaded my last good set-up from iLife 2006. I think iLife 2008 changes how blog pages are addressed. As an example, my two most recent good entries show on the web as:

Notice the long string of numbers, letters, and dashes, after the word /Blog/? My iWeb in iLife 2008 no longer puts those types of strings at the end of /Blog/. Instead, the Blog web entries show as:

I've always used the same fonts, sizes, and colors. But now it's not working. What is weird, however, is that if I did Select All, and Copy and Paste the web page contents onto Notepad...the text IS THERE...just not showing on the web.

I now have itunes for windows 8 on my laptop and I cannot transfer a new song from my library to a playlist on my iPad mini using IOS 8.1.3

I upgraded to iTunes for windows on my Windows 8.1 64 bit laptop. I have not done any iTunes manipulations for many months. I just purchased a new song. I now have IOS 8.1.3 on my iPad Mini and I tried to move the new song from my library from my purchased file to a playlist. I can no longer click and drag the song from anything to the playlist. In addition, when I sync my iPad to my laptop none of my music from the iPad shows up in iTunes on the computer. Why does Apple continuously mess around with the simple actions of the program. It is very disheartening to be treated like this as a long time customer. This has happened so many times that I am getting the feeling that they seem to enjoy screwing up the users ability to use the program

Get more information about your computer. Go to the Apple in the upper left corner of any window, then "About This Mac". Write down what it says about "version"and report that here. Now continue to "More Info..." Copy and paste the information here, but omit the serial number and Hardware UUID (if present).

The main issue might be having too little RAM. Most computers run newer systems more smoothly with more RAM than Apple says is a "minimum" for running that system version
After installing 10.6.3 run the updater to 10.6.8, then upgrade iTunes.

The new system should install on top of the old one. That said, things have been known to go wrong and it makes sense to do a backup before installing the new system. In fact you seem to care about your files and things so you need to always have a backup because one day you will wake up and you hard drive will be dead and everrything on it gone. Buy an external hard drive and start using Time Machine or something to back up. The other risk is when you install the new iTunes. It doesn't happen frequently given the millions of users but there are daily posts here from people who for some reason the installation wiped out their whole library. If you have a backup then there's nothing to worry about.
This is well within what many people can do at home. It's a matter of inserting an optical disc and clicking you way through menus.

Trying to transfer music to itunes on new pc from ipod that was synced from old pc that is no longer usable

old pc from which i synced my ipod is broken.
cannot perform a direct file transfer.
need to import music to new pc from ipod, but neither itunes nor the computer itself will import the music files.
i do not have all of the old cds, and it would be an extremely time-consuming process going through so many discs to pick out over 800 single songs anyway. help?

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself independently backed up against loss. To use a device with a new computer you transfer the content from the old computer (or its backup) directly to the new computer, not the device to the new computer. Media syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.

Technically if you no longer own the CD then you no longer have the right to a copy of the music.

How do i download all my music onto new mac from icloud match?

I have over 7000 songs I would like to transfer from my old laptop to my new one (macbook to macbook). I opened itunes match and they showed up with the download cloud next to each song.
1) when i click on the cloud nothing happens
2) once I do get the songs to download how do I just download all so i dont have to click on 7000 cloads?

I ended up purchasing a firewire plug and restarted my old computer holding down "T" and it came up as a hard drive on my new computer
from there i just clicked and dragged my itunes music folder onto the new itunes icon and 7000 songs transferred in about 20 minutes!
i then just dragged over my favorite apps as well and everything went smoothly.

I have an iMac 8.1, OSX 10.6.8 with XP running in Boot Camp partition. My USB keyboard (MB110LL/A) was damaged by water. I ordered a new keyboard from the Apple Store. I was sent model MB110LL/B. Special function keys will not work in XP. Any Ideas?

I have an iMac 8.1, OSX 10.6.8, Boot Camp 3.2 running Windows XP. My original keyboard (MB110LL/A) was damaged by a water spill. I ordered a new one from the Apple Store. They sent me MB110LL/B, function keys need updated drivers (Boot Camp 3.3) which will only install if Windows 7 is installed. I have a large amount of older software that runs under XP but not Windows 7. The Apple support team basically said "too bad". If they replace a keboard model with a new model, they should at least make it backwards compatable or provide a Boot Camp update that will allow this model to work on older iMacs. Reloading Bootcamp 3.3 several times has no effect because it does not detect Windows 7. Any Ideas or help would be appreciated.

MS Security Essentials will no longer install due to compatibiliity issues - that is the idea of a beta - and the RC could be out in June.
Windows 7 doesn't work great on any Mac, or Apple drivers, fan cvontrol to manage heat, and other issues.
Put 8 in and get to know it, then when the RC comes out you'll be ready

IS IT POSSIBLE 2 BUILD A NEW XML FROM DAMAGED ITL? SAVE FERRIS

OK. Here's my situation. I have an HP notebook running on VISTA. ITUNES version 8.1.1....... My computer shut off abruptly while I was running ITUNES and after I restarted it and started up Itunes, I got the damaged ITL message. No big deal, I still have all my songs in their designated folder and I'll just import the XML to get all my playlists back in action. I've done this at least 10 times already. Works like a charm everytime. Oh S#!T,... my XML was wiped out during the shut down. I have a program that can retrieve files after recycle bin deletion and the XML is no where to be found. SOOOOOO here's my questiion. When my computer S#!Ted in my cereal, it split my ITL into two seperate damged ITL's. One 32 MB and the other 14 MB. I know the XML is just a backup of the ITL and I frequently update my XML twice a week to make sure no B.S. could bestow it's bad self all up in my shizz. I just never figured to make a copy of the XML because everytime this has happened, the good XML was always there to use. (NOW I KNOW)Soooo, I need to know how to build an new XML from the two damaged itl's. That way I can just import the two new xml's and then save, thus making itunes create a new fresh XML from my two provided and restoring my itunes to it's original self. My problem is I can't get ITUNES to read my two damaged ITL's. Yes, I've done the name change method, no love. I tried the restart computer at a previous date and time method, didn't work. I tried the previous libraries folder and it's five moths old, which is a 10,000 song difference for me. So that way is useless. I even downloaded the same version of ITUNES that I run onto my home computer, which runs on XP, so I could try the system cache method. No love there either. I've stumbled upon a page where a person stated that they were able to manually poke around with their ITL file and forcing ITUNES to repair it. However this person was a computer whiz and I am sooooo totally not. So I had no idea what he was talking about. Anyone dealt with this scenario before? I tried praying to GOD but all he said was "THAT'S WHAT YOU GET FOR PUTTING SHANIA TWAIN'S ..THAT DON'T IMPRESS ME MUCH.. ON YOUR IPOD YOU F%#KING DORK!!!" and I was like, "dude, it is undeniably impossible to not have a smile on your face for the duration of that righteous classic.
