New bluetooth situation

I'm guessing this is due to my having just upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.1  (and iOS 8.1.1) I got a notification that an iPad was requesting Bluetooth connection to my Mac. I don't own an iPad. I looked at my Bluetooth preferences, and it showed my Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard and my Bluetooth Wireless Trackpad. But it also showed "Jesse's iMac" only I don't know anyone named Jesse (I live in a big apartment complex so that's probably a neighbor) with a button to Pair, which I didn't check.  It also says "now discoverable as "iMac (2)."  I only own one iMac, never saw that name "iMac(2) and don't like the idea of mine being shown as 2, nor do I want it to be discoverable by anyone else.
Mostly, I fear that this Jesse will now see my iMac on his Bluetooth Preference, and have the option to click on a button to pair with my system.
And, that raises an interesting question.  I do own an iPhone, which suddenly shows under Bluetooth settings "Now discoverable as "Larry's iPhone."  And it shows 2 devices under "My devices," neither of which I've ever seen before.
Apparently the  new Yosemite and iOS updates added something that now allows my neighbors' to reach further out, not something I'm crazy about.  Yet I don't want to shut off Bluetooth on either the computer nor the phone.
Help!

Hi it_is_me,
Hopefully for your query i think it is backing up i guess. I have received one mp3 song and saved it to the phone and i backed up messages, it said it have saved one multimedia message similarly for picture message too it said the same thing ...

  • Does Mac OS X Vers 10.5.8 need new bluetooth driver to recognize Motorola HX550?

Have read and followed all instructions as well as posts here and nothing works.  Motorola suggested I need new bluetooth driver but cant find any info. Help appreciated.

    Hello:
As far as I know, there is no "bluetooth driver."  You are using a very old version of OS X (if your profile is correct).
I would suggest that you install OS X 10.6 (available on the Apple web site) and then go on to OS X 10.8.  That is no guarantee, but using software that is no longer maintained by Apple is not a good idea.

  • TS3048 I just bought a new Bluetooth mouse but I can't set it up bc my other mouse broke

I Just bought a new Bluetooth mouse because our old Bluetooth mouse went out. I'm trying to set it up with no mouse. I can't click on anything because I have no mouse. Is there anyway to open the Bluetooth connections just using the keyboard?

You have me confused as to where the apps really are. You mention iPod and mention that the iPod isn't your primary computer. Obviously, it can't be - its an iPod. I'm not trying to be a jerk - I just dont understand what that means.
The you say that the old computer is the primary computer for iTunes. That makes more sense. Anyway, you could have transferred the iTunes library from the old computer to the new Mac, but I assume that you did not realize that.
So ... If the apps are on your iPad - but did not transfer to iTunes when you synced the iPad with the new Mac - transfer Purchases. Connect the iPad to the Mac, launch iTunes, right click on the iPad name on the left and select Transfer Purchases. That will put the apps in iTunes on the Mac.
Movies cannot be downloaded again for free because Apple does not have an agreement with the movie studios to allow for that. At least that is how I understand the way that works.

  • SL3100 directly compatible with new bluetooth creative mp3 player?

    Hi
I have found an old pair of creative 3100 that I though I had lost. Does they work nowadays automatically (without the bluetooth transmitter) with new bluetooth-enabled creative mp3 player like the ZEN X-Fi3? Will the command buttons on the headset work when directly connected to the ZEN X-Fi3?
Or I have to use the old transmitter? Will the command button be usable if i connect the headset via the old bluetooth transmitter?
    Thanks for the answers

  • Creative's HS-1200 Wireless Headset Featuring New Bluetooth Alternative.. coming to the UK?

I've been having a lot of problems with Bluetooth stereo headset that incorporate a Voip functionality for hands-free talking especially in the stereo mode so I was just about to spend hundred pounds plus on the Plantronics CS60-USB with its proprietary wireless hundred metre range which would serve my voice recognition and voip needs and also the Plantronics .Audio™ 770 which is a non-wireless stereo multimedia headset with a voip and voice recognition incapable microphone. But then I remembered reading the CES 2008 gizmodo.com coverage about this little beauty coming from Creative, "Hands On: Creative's HS-1200 Wireless Headset Featuring New Bluetooth Alternative" hit the link to read, for that my reason for coming to the forum today as I'm hoping that somebody from creative Europe read these forums and can tell me when the HS-1200 is coming to the UK?we are having a full duplex propriety wireless technology be able to listen to stereo music and games while using the microphone for voice or voice recognition, how cool is that! Which is something I have not been able to do with any of my previous four Bluetooth headsets.Any help appreciated, thank you - Optical10

  • Will a new bluetooth keyboard be coming out with a "DICTATION" key added?

Are there plans for a new Bluetooth keyboard to be sold that includes a "DICTATION" key.  This will be very helpful for using it with the new iPAD 3.

    Hello:
There is no way anyone here could answer that question.  These are user-to-user forums.  Additionally, it violates the TOU to speculate about future Apple offerings.
There are feedback places on the web site that you could use to suggest future enhancements.

  • Latest version PC Suite - new bluetooth connection...

Following installation of the Nokia PC Suite update onto my computer in April I can't get my 6288 to connect with my computer properly by bluetooth so as to enable me to syncronise my phone with outlook. I used to be able to do it no problem. Now, all I can do is connect with the computer using bluetooth via the bluetooth application on my computer or my phone but not using Nokia PC Suite. When I connect using my phone a message comes up telling me that I can transfer audio files only. PC Suite tells me that I do not have the correct hardware or software installed. Can anyone tell me what has happened and how to solve it? Should it be as simple as just reinstalling the latest update again - if so, this isn't working? Help desperately sought - many thanks.

I have the same problem and finally found a solution:
I tried a D-Link 122 with the software and an other Bluetooth device delivered with Bluesoleil sofware.
I give you the solution that finally works:
1.uninstall Nokia PC suite and the Blue tooth software and remove the usb dongle.
    2. reboot yje PC and use an cleaner (CClaener or ncleaner).
    3. reboot and insert the usb dongle.
    4. DO NOT INSTALL ANY BLUETOOTH SOFTWARE (= no Bluesoleil or orther BT software), let windows find the drivers and install the hardware. (if the dongle is not windows supported.... buy a new one...).
    5 Nokia install PC suite.
    this works.

  • Os News Bluetooth How-To

Once again Arch has made headlines on Os News.  This times it's in the form of a how-to to get bluetooth working with Arch.

Cam wrote:What were you planning on doing with it?
Get on the net via a Bluetooth/GPRS phone. My laptop is dual-boot Arch and Debian, and I did this on the Debian side a good while ago, before I'd even heard of Arch. I'm gradually preparing for Arch to become my principal distro, and this is one of a few applications that I still have to transfer over.
Cam wrote:KDE has some good bluetooth tools (no Arch packages though) I just personally don't like KDE
Me neither. I have used some of the Gnome Bluetooth stuff with XFCE4 on Debian, though.

  • I use a 2003 FW800 MDD desktop, with dual 1.25 GHz processors, and OS10.4.11, and with native Bluetooth card, won't recognize a newer Bluetooth Headphone set as an Input or Output device in System Preferences

I use a Mac 2003 FW800 MDD desktop with dual 1.25 GHz processors, 2 GB memory, and a native Bluetooth card installed. I use OS10.4.11.  The FW800 was the only MDD that could use Bluetooth natively, as an optional installation.  I use the installed Bluetooth to run an Apple Aluminum Keyboard, and would like to use it with a new (2010) Samsung SBH-600 Bluetooth Headphone set, but, although the set will pair with the computer, and is recognized in both the System Profiler, and the Bluetooth section of System Preferences, it is not recognized in the Sound preferences section of System Preferences as either an Input or Output device.  Only the installed external Apple speakers are recognized.  I'd like to know if there is anything that can be done to make the Bluetooth system installed work with these headphones - either something that can be changed in the computer settings, or an added external Bluetooth device with different Bluetooth capabilities.

It it may be that you are running either an outdated BT software or the firmware of the card is not up to date.
What version is your BT software? Is it later than 1.5?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1209
    Firmware:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL354
Along with the firmware, it is likely that the headphones require a later BT revision than you are running. The headphones need rev.2.
You may need to move to Leopard for support.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL889
It also may be that headphone support is limited to iChat or the like in Tiger.....
If you go to a USB BT dongle, D-Link often gets the nod as having native compatibility in OS X.

  • Why can my bb bold not find my new Bluetooth handsfree headset

Hi I have had my blackberry bold for a month now but after shutting my headphones in my car door I have just been out and brought a Bluetooth wireless headset v2.0 and when I search for it on my bb all that keeps coming up after it has searched is no new device found, could someone please help, I'm not good with phones. Many thanks.

    Hello sig,
I don't think, that you completely understood my question. The problem in your question, is that there is something wrong with the sound output/input, but my problem is, that my headphones will not pair or even be discovered by my computer.
However, during the time, that it took to get the first answer on here, I found it out myself.
While pairing, your headset must be in a so called "pairing mode" you can get it by switching your headset off, then holding the power button until the LED starts blinking red and blue. Then your mac should discover it without a problem.
The audio quality is quite bad on this headset, so I will only be using it for skype. It's really weird to listen to music on these.
    All the best,

  • How to disable the new Bluetooth Audio function?

After updating to OS 3.0 i have an annoying problem with my iPhone connected to a Kenwood car radio (via USB in the glove box):
    1. Connect iPhone with car radio via USB
    2. Turnin on the radio - now it starts playing songs from the iPhone
    3. Now the iPhone connects via Bluetooth to the radio (for use of the handsfree set!)
    4. The addressbook is downloaded by the radio via the Bluetooth connection
Till there it worked fine under OS 2.2.1 - i was able to listen to the iPod and to make/receive calls! But now there's step 5:
    5. The Bluetooth Audio function is activated - and i can hear no more sound although the playback of the song is resumed!
There's a workaround for this issue: I can tap on the iPod-Icon on the iPhone which says that the iPhone is connected to an equipment. There i can tap on a bluetooth icon in the lower right corner in which i can select the device for audio output: Bluetooth or Dock.
This is really annoying (even more due to the bad qualitiy of the bluetooth audio), so where can i disable this new "feature"?!

I too am having this problem. It seems as though I also have to unplug and re-plugin my iPhone dock connector to make it switch to the USB output I need for my JVC KD-R800 receiver in my car. I can't seem to find a way to permanently disable A2DP functionality on either my iPhone or my Car's audio receiver.
We really do need some sort of option to either disable A2DP altogether or setup a "priority" list of items. Personally, I'd love to have the iPhone output in an order something like the following:
    1st - Dock Connector (USB)
    2nd - Bluetooth A2DP
    3rd - Headphones / iPhone Speaker
Hopefully someone find out of a permanent workaround or solution soon. I just got this new receiver for my car and it messes everything up!

  • New Bluetooth Keyboard Not Working with iMac 2005

I just purchased a refurbished 2009 wireless Mac keyboard for my computer at work to replace the old outdated one. However, when I try getting it to connect I encounter a problem. While its being picked up by the bluetooth just fine, it tells me that it is unable to actually connect. It tells me the keyboard itself does not have the 'services' required to connect to the computer. I'm not sure what this means? This is not an issue I have ever encountered before. If anyone can assist me with this issue I would greatly appreciate it.

    HI Michelle
i have the same problem Also using an iMac21 inch late 2012. Has been working perfectly until 10.10.3. Now when the iMac wakes from sleep neither the mouse or keyboard are connected. The only recourse is to force a hard restart with the power button.
i have tried all your above items and also to no avail. I have set sleep to wait indefinitely & that has resolved my issue. Albeit with an increase in energy use.
I Would be grateful if anybody had some tips on how to resolve this situation.
    thanks

  • Portege R600-S4201 -- a new Bluetooth connectivity issue

    R600-S4201
    Windows XP - SP3
    Nothing wierd on it.
This one kilo laptop has been wonderful for 1.5 years, though the "speaker" is inadequate. I just bought an excellent Yamaha Bluetooth stereo speaker, and paired it successfully.
HOWEVER, "pairing" doesn't last. After a few minutes, I can hear system sounds but not music or video.
I installed the K-Lite Codec Pack - no help. Various settings and driver configuration changes also make no difference.
Periodically I get an alert over the tray clock that says:
    *AV automatic connection*
    *Automatic connection failed*
Googling that, it appears to be a Toshiba+Bluetooth problem. That text string should point to a specific solution, but I haven't found it.
I assume there's a bad driver - can you help me locate and replace it?
    Thanks!

Have you already checked if the *suitable default audio device* was selected:
*Control Panel > Sound, Speech, and Audio Devices >Sound and Audio Devices > Audio > Sound playback: Bluetooth Wave*
My NX-B02 Yamaha stereo speeker works fine (BTW an excellent speeker).
The used Bluetotoh stack version was 7.10.16 (download here: http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/)
The setup was a breeze (set BT speeker pairable via long button press and right click the Bluetooth system tray icon and select Add New Connection).
The message "Automatic connection failed" appears only in my case if the Bluetooth speeker is off and the Bluetooth stack tries to connect it.
You can turn of the auto-connect function if you like as follows:
    - Double click on the bluetooth system tray icon in order to open the Bluetooth Settings window.
    - Right click on the yamaha icon > Details > uncheck "Automatic connection function will be validated.
If you just want to modify the connection settings then check the following settings:
    - Right the Bluetooth system tray icon > Options...> Audio > AV Auto Connect Setting

  • Brand New Bluetooth Keyboard doesn't pair at startup on MAC Lion Server

    Hi,
Just got a new Mac Lion Server Mac Mini and went to set up last night.
Apple logo and chime comes up.  Then the screen to turn on Bluetooth Keyboard and Magic Mouse comes up.  I turned on the power on the mouse and keyboard.  The keyboard doesn't pair and the mouse does.  As soon as the computer realizes the mouse is connected, it moves on to the setup screens (username, server setup etc.) and doesn't care that the keyboard is not set up yet.  Of course, since I cannot type usernames etc. for the server, I get stuck.
I rebooted (hard power shutdown) several times in the hope that one time (accidently) the keyboard would be picked up but no such luck.
My PS3 recognized the Apple Keyboard so it's not the keyboard.
I didn't have a USB keyboard around so I have to wait till tonight to try to set up.  I have a couple of questions.
    1.  Anything with Mac Mini defective?  Is it something for me to worry about?
    2.  After I use the USB Keyboard, will my system recognized the Apple keyboard and keep it memorized.  I don't have a problem doing a one time setup in this fashion, but if it continues then I'd like to nip it in the bud.
    3.  Should I take it to the Apple store?
    Thanks for all you help.

This is an all too common issue.  It happened for me as well.  I don't think there's anything defective on your mini.  I used a wireless keyboard (USB) to complete the setup.  Once I was in Lion, I paired my Apple BT keyboard and haven't had a problem since.
