New BT Broadband ADSL2+ sync messed up because of ...

Hi, I had BT Total broadband on ADSL2+ activated 11 days ago, the first two days I was getting speeds of 4-4.21mb and my sync was 4888-5600, however on the third and fourth day their were lots of powercuts in my area which caused the router to turn on and off and my sync got dropped to 2888-3072 and it has stuck their, initially the noise margin on my line was increased to 16/17DB it has now dropped to 12-15DB but the sync remains at 3072 I have tried 3 different routers and they all sync at a max of 3072, Im not happy because previousely when I was with sky line rental and o2 broadband I used to get a constant speed of 4.5MB.
I have asked on the thinkbroadband forum about why my sync has reduced and have been advised that my Bras sync has been capped and thats why my sync speed wont go above 3072, can someone please advise me how I can get the 10 day trial period restarted or get the cap removed?
I would appreciate suggestions on what I can do because my sync is not improving even though before I used to sync at much higher speeds.

Every time you manually re-sync the router or change to a different router you alter the automatic training cycle & also usually reduce your profile. (recovery time for a possible poor connection usually 3-5 days)
Patience, it is not easy, my system is in the same training cycle at present.
....... not if you can do it in one go ... without multiple attempts at re-sync.

Make sure your new computer is authorized in iTunes. Disable autosync in itunes, connect your ipod, right click on it in the device list and choose backup.

Transfer your purchases the same way to copy all apps and bought media from the Store to your computer.
Set up at least one contact and event on your computer to be able the merge your calendars and contacts after your ipod got wiped during the first sync.

As mentioned by vazandrew, music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.

If you're using a fifth generation iPod touch and an Intel Mac, buy Mac OS X 10.6 from the online Apple Store and run Software Update.

I had this problem before. I like to disable extra services to speed up my computer and I disabled the Apple Mobile Device service and had to re-enable this.
You can do that by going Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services. Once you have gone to the services window, look for Apple Mobile Device and right-click. Select "Properties". There should be some information about the service as well as the label "Startup Type" with a drop-down menu beside it. If it says "disabled", that is your problem; Change the selection to anything except disabled (Automatic is easier and ensures that you can sync as soon as itunes opens).
If this doesn't work, I would look into your anti-virus' settings. Good Luck!

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your phone. Only if you back up manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
Do this:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your device without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the iPhone for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.

Re-installed osx now iPhone see's iTunes as a "new" computer and wont sync

I had a critical hard drive failure and had not backed up my data.
After a clean install of osx on the same computer with the same hardware, I updated itunes to the latest version. (all fine so far).
before the new install I had sync'd my iPhone and sync'd the iTunes account, music, videos etc to my iPhone.
Now when I try and sync the iPhone I get a message telling me that I can either "cancel" or wipe the iphone and sync from scratch because the "library" is on a new computer !
arrgghh... it's the same box same everything. I even used the same name to re-install osx on my iMac but the iphone and itunes still see's the itunes library as a different computer and wont let me sync without wiping the iphone of all it's data which I cant do. It's all I have left out of about $800 dollars worth of purchased music and stuff. Everything else was lost when I had to wipe the hard drive clean on the iMac!

It's the same computer but not the same iTunes library, as you've said in your post the original library was erased. Your iPhone was linked to your previous library, it's not linked to the computer. I presume that all your songs etc. were also erased since you haven't mentioned a back-up anywhere.

I recently purchased an iPad with the intention of making a new iCloud account and syncing it with my iPhone and MacBook. Previously, my iPhone and MacBook were synced without iCloud because my whole family used the same iTunes account. I have added the same credit card to my new apple and iCloud accounts, and would like to apply these to my phone and laptop now, but I'm afraid I will lose all the music i downloaded on the other account. Will this happen/what can I do for a smooth transition?

iTunes and iCloud are different accounts but they may use the same ID or different IDs. So you could use the same ID for iTunes on all devices in a family and use multiple IDs for iCloud accounts, one per user so that a user's devices all stay synced without mixing in the other family users' data.

Copy all the content on your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes. Then go ahead and sync the iPod with your new library.

I ran into this same problem earlier with my new iPod classic 160 gb. Turns out it could be your files show in iTunes but they aren't connected to the location those music tracks are actually located.
Does this make any sense?
You basically have to make sure iTunes is picking your songs from the right music folder via your preferences.
Option 1: If your iTunes is completely wiped blank and your music is stored in a safe place, backed up, etc. You can do the following:
Step A. Preferences > iTunes Media Folder Location > choose folder
**** please be sure to pick a location that is new or different from where you ACTUALLY stored your music to prevent your files from deleting itself as it updates****
For example, if you stored your music on your Desktop then you wouldn't choose your music folder to be the one in Desktop. You choose the folder where you want your music to go such as C:\My Music or in Mac, you choose the music folder.
Step B. Once you choose the folder where all your music is stored and you check the box that says "Keep iTunes Media Folder organized" and "Copy Files to iTunes Media when adding to library."
Step C. This is the part that will make sense. Drag the folder on desktop that houses all your music into iTunes. Because you checked the box "Copy Files to iTunes Media when adding to library," iTunes will copy all the backup music you dragged into the folder location you designated it in "Preferences > iTunes Media Folder Location > choose folder."
---- once all that is done, your itunes will have ALL your music tracks linked to the right location on your computer and your iPod will sync with as many or all of the music you desire.

This problem started last year when ios 8 was released. I think apple is trying to force users to buy music on iTunes store and that's why it's impossible to sync other music and also that's the reason why they haven't solved this serious problem. Setting up a Apple Airport Extreme to work on the Telecom New Zealand Broadband network?

Has anyone had any success in setting up their airport extreme to work on the Telecom New Zealand broadband network without having to connect it to the modem which NZ Telecom supply?
Any advice and tips would be welcomed!

1. Since a "router" is needed next to the cable modem and before the ethernet switch, should we put the new Extreme in that basement location? Or, should we instead put the new Extreme somewhere on the main floor of the house (connected by ethernet) and leave the old one where it is?
Assuming the older Extreme is no older than Gen3 or Gen4 it is a perfectly adequate router for the speeds that cable will generally give you.
And therefore it is best to bridge the new AC extreme and use it upstairs via ethernet. That will then give you the best wireless in the most suitable area of the house.
2. Should we somehow bridge the two Airport Extremes (the old one and the new one) into one wireless network?
Yes, what is called roaming network. Both units create a wireless network.
You simply setup same name and same security/password on all the devices for wireless. The wireless channels are the differentiator.. and you can either leave that on auto or take some control over it and set manually. I would be inclined to do it manually just because the AC wireless needs the 149 channel for high speed AC.. so you do not want the old Extreme in the basement using that. Force that one to channel 36 or 40. However it is likely to work itself out ok on auto.. but I recommend you check it.

3. Should we go a further step and also bridge in one or both of the old Airport Express units, perhaps on the top floor of the house for example?
Yes, if you have a black spot with poor wireless you can add the Express to help. The old ones are single band and will probably work better at 2.4ghz but whatever suits you.. perhaps setup one on 2.4ghz and one on 5ghz.

When I activated my daughter's IPhone4, the computer recognized it as mine and it won't sync the music because I guess it thinks it has already done it. I think if I restore it to factory settings, it will mess up my phone. How do I go back in to restart the whole process under my daughter's name?

As amy_lou said, iTunes will recognize both phones as different devices. If they have the same name, rename one of them so it is easier to recognize which is which. This explains how to do this: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3965.

Photos not on my computer are still on iPod and new ones aren't syncing.

I deleted some photos from my computer and now new photos aren't syncing to my ipod and the ones that I deleted from my computer are still on my iPod- even if I change what folder the photos sync from to a completely different folder.

Anyone else have ideas? Because the last person's post didn't do anything new.
Edit: Now in the photo app it's making folders with the same names as those on my computer, but it's not putting any photos into them.
