New build for After Effects, Premiere Pro and C4D

I was supposed to upgrade back in december, but that project got held off because of a financial emergency, but now i got some money set aside, i'll like it if i could get advice on this build.
CPU : Core i7 5820K 6-core 3.3ghz
Cooler : Noctua NH-D15
MB : Asus X99-A
RAM : Crucial 4x8 GB DDR4 2133 mhz CL15
HDs : Already own a SSD and a few others
GPU : Asus GeForce GTX970 STRIX
PS : EVGA Supernova G2 750 watts
Case : Cooler Master HAF 932 (already owned)
I intend to overclock the processor to around 4ghz, am i well set to achieve this with this setup ?
I use After Effects the most, but i'm really digging 3D and will probably use it more and more, I guess my priority would be good render times and a smooth experience in softwares.
Thank you !

I found this post which is quite reassuring: https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/3/959855
"I just installed the GTX 970 into my Adobe CC environment.
INCREDIBLE. I created a 4096 sequence, scaled up a 1080 clip to full screen, applied Gaussian blur, Noise, and rotated it on two 3D axes (keyframed), with color correction....
It played back fullscreen, full speed, no dropped frames, and the GPU load never even broke a sweat beyond 19%.
My previous card was a GTX 560 SE. This is not an upgrade, it is a paradigm shift.
Premiere accepted the card after the polite "Enable this unsupported GPU" notice.
Exports (at least to H.264) are taking the card up to about 76%."

  • Graphics cards and After Effects, Premiere Pro, and Sony Vegas...which is best?

Debating between two EVGA cards for a new build.
I don't game at all, but I want the most kickass system I can for After Effects CS6, Premiere Pro CS6, and Sony Vegas.
    Kepler option: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814130768
    Fermi option: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814130687
Will spending more and waiting for Kepler net that much of a performance gain? Is there anywhere with good benchmarks on GPUs just for Adobe products and video editing? Which matters more and for what: OpenGL, Cuda, Memory Size, Clock speed?

It's not pointless. I know which cards are supported and which aren't. I'm not confused about which is supported. I know the 680 is not explicitly supported (yet?), but OpenGL and CUDA will still provide some benefit or no?
The GTX 580 and GTX 570 seem to "compute" far better than the GTX 680. I was kind of wondering real world what that mean for PP and AE and what it didn't mean.
I guess some of my interest is in understanding practically what a few more CUDA cores will do or what makes the OpenGL performance of a card better: Cuda, Memory Size, Clock Speed...what.
Ie, is the GTX 680 justified when it seems like it might not be a big enough bang for the buck.

  • Producing a Video - Best Render Settings for After Effects & Premiere Pro?

    Hi Guys,
I just want to make sure I am producing my video the right way .... it takes an awfully long time and I have to use 2 programs....
First I have a 1080p HD Camcorder - so when I shoot my videos I want to ensure they are 1080p.
So I do my editing in After Effects and produce the video as an AVI file - and usually a 5 min clip outputs as 70GB (Full Quality Settings)
I then take this video and import it into Premiere Pro and produce it as WMV file (Full Quality) and then the final output is 200MB and the quality is not lost - so I am happy.
So my question is am I doing it the best way?
I tried to produce it as a WMV straight from After Effects but I am not sure what settings to pick that will keep the quality and not make the filesize huge - so I am forced to use 2 programs.
So if there is an easier way let me know ... bc it sucks using 2 programs to render out the video.
And also is that normal - 200mb for a 5 min clip or is that still too big?
Remember I want to keep things 1080p.
If you want to see a sample of my video that I am producing - you can watch my YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/socialmindz
    Thanks for your help.

  • Importing video into After effects, premiere pro and media encoder result in freezing

I have been trying to import a 17 minute long mp4 video shot with a go-pro into after effects and premiere pro with the result of the program locking up each time. My next thought was try to import it into media encoder and change the file format but it is causing media encoder to lock up as well. Any thoughts would be sincerely appreciated

Sounds like something might be fishy with the video file.  You might try converting with different software, which can often be more forgiving than Adobe tools.

  • Help!  Ideas for displaying ~100-300 still images with After Effects / Premiere Pro

Hi, I am a cadet at a US Air Force detachment and am responsible for making this semester's end of the year video.
I have the Adobe creative cloud and am familiar with the basics of Photoshop, and Premiere Pro, and I am trying to also learn After Effects.  I have a large amount of picture and video, and am at a loss for how to quickly make all these pictures into an interesting slideshow.  Software such as Cyberlink Powerdirector had a "photo grid" which would allow me to create an automatic slideshow of images on a 3x3 grid, where each image flashed into place one at a time.  I am looking for automated processes or tutorials to feed my images into and have a modern effect of displaying the images.
If anyone has any idea for a template or where to start on handling a large amount of still images in After Effects or Premiere Pro, I could definitely use a point in the right direction!

  • After Effect / Premiere Pro CC 2014 Video Importing Conflicts

Why are my Adobe software packages not cooperating? PRes imported out of AE and into PPRO, but no die? Why?
Today I have a brand new MacBook Pro, I also have Adobe CC installed, predominantly for PremierePro and After Effects.
First issue - With ProRes video files exported successfully from Davinci Resolve not being imported into AE. After a few hours of failed attempts, head scratching and searching online I found I had to delete certain files from the hard drive / Quicktime folder (DVCPROHDCodec.component / ApplDVCPROHDCodec.compnent / etc) It seems now that AE has these codecs packaged into the application (?)
Anyway this worked! And I was able to import files in without 'after effects 86. error 4. reading file from frame'. Popping up endlessly.
Second issue - I work on an AE composition & try to export as a PremierPro file from AE, this works and I open with Premire Pro, but some video files on the timeline are missing (?)
So I decide to go the long route and export the composition as a single clip at ProRes from After Effects. I attempt to bring this clip into Premiere Pro and I get another error 'The importer reported a generic error'.
This is highly frustrating, I want to know what Adobe are doing to provide the relevant support for us enthusiastic movie makers and editors. I seem to spend most of my time trying to get my software packages working
with one another than making creative content and this really is unproductive and irritating, especially since these softwares are from the same company.

Go to HD/Library/Quictime and delete all .component files. It appears that the correct procedure is to delete all QT components and everything so far works. I have to do this every time I run after effects or Premiere Pro, and remember to put them back in again after shutting down software. Any ideas why this is happening folks?

  • After effects & Premiere Pro CC problems -HELP-

    Hi everyone,
I'm having some slight issues with after effects and adobe premiere CS6 CC on my notebook.
I downloaded the CC and can install all the apps, and every app (photoshop, illustrator, mediaencoder etc all work.
    My notebook specs:
    8GB ram
    Nvidia 840M
(It says there is an integrated graphics aswell, maybe this could be the issue? that AE and Premiere select this one instead of the 840M)
Samsung evo 250GB SSD (Bootup drive and this is where CC is installed)
    500GB HDD 7200rpm
    For after effects:
When I run AE it starts the loading screen, but it crashes almost right away when it says "Initializing Mediacore" and gives this error:
After Effects error: Crash in progress. Last logged message was: <7304>
    <GPUmanager> <2> Sniffer Result Code 3
    (Error code 0 :: 42)
I think it has something to do with my VGA drivers, but I have uninstalled all the Nvidia and Intel drivers and installed both the newest and previous versions of drivers. But none fixed the issue.
Now heres where it gets interesting. yesterday I decided to test if a cracked version of AE CS6 worked on my computer. And it did, it openend smoothly and everything worked as far as I could test.
After testing I unistalled the cracked version (completly wiped everything), and reinstalled CC. But still no luck.
As for Premiere, the moment the loading screen pops up it says "Adobe Premiere CS6 has stopped working". All I can click is cancel, and when I do it just closes Premiere.
I saw a thread where someone said the issue was Nvidia geforce Experience. But even when I don't install this AE and Premiere don't work.
hope I gave you all enough information!
    thanks for your time

  • How to Optimize a New iMac for After Effects

I bought the most tricked out brand new iMac available, with 32GB ram, an updated graphics card, everything.
But, exporting my project from After Effects takes the same amount of time on my new iMac as it did on my 2011 macbook - about 6 hours.
I know how to manipulate my export settings, so maybe I just need to change my computer's system settings to work better with After Effects.
Mac had no advice and pointed me to Adobe, so here I am.
    Any advice?

  • New PC build for After Effects, C4D, Premiere Pro (no gaming required)

Hi all, i'm getting a new PC together for a friend of mine, i'd like to get help on a few things, here is what i have at this point :
    CPU : Intel 5820K 3.3ghz 6-core i7
    MB : ???? unsure
    RAM : Crucial 32gb (4x8 gigabytes) DDR4
    GPU : GTX 970
SSD : 256GB Crucial SSD ***already owned
    HD : 1x2TB + 1x3TB ***already owned
Case : Cooler Master ATX case ***already owned, unsure which model, but looks like the 932
Power Supply : see below (Corsair TX650)
Ok as you can see some parts will be used from the old computer that's being upgraded, mostly the drives but also the case. Unsure whether she should get a a new cooling system and power supply with this build, the present power supply is a Corsair TX650, it's about 2.5 years old.
As for the video card, the GTX 970 is not out yet but she'll be using her old GTS 450 in the meantime.
From what i've read, for C4D and After Effects, CPU and RAM are the priority, but Premiere Pro makes use of the GPU. So the system here tends to put a bit more budget on the CPU and RAM side.
There's about 300-400 left for budget, what Motherboard should we get ?? They all have similar features but very different prices so are the price differences due only to the build quality ?

I found this post which is quite reassuring: https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/3/959855

  • After Effects & Premiere Pro CS4 users: Turn off "Make text and other items larger or smaller" (Win)

I just made a brief blog post recommending that After Effects CS4 and Premiere Pro CS4 users turn off the "Make text and other items larger or smaller" setting in Windows 7, since it causes some problems.
Please use this thread to let us know whether this solved a problem for you or whether there are any problems with this solution.

There isn't really an option to "turn off" the feature. Do you mean to say that it should be set to "Smaller - 100% (default)"?

  • New PC for After effects Cs5.5, Cs6 and probably very soon CC

I want to buy a new computer in the folliwng days/weeks.
I use essentially After Effects (also Photoshop, Illustrator and Cinema 4D)
I had planned to buy the following pc configuration:
    - CPU: Intel Core i7-4930K (3.4 GHz)
    - MB: ASUS P9X79 PRO
    - RAM: (32 Go or 64 Go  ?)  G.Skill RipJaws Z Series 64 Go (8 x 8 Go) DDR3 2133 MHz CL11  (cerrtified by Asus for this MB)
    - GPU: Gigabyte GV-N770OC-4GD - GeForce GTX 770 4 Go
    - POWER: Be Quiet ! Alimentation Dark Power Pro 10-850W 80PLUS Platinum
    - HDD (for OSD and programms): Samsung SSD 840 PRO 512 Go
    - HDD (for current project and AE cache): Samsung SSD 840 PRO 512 Go
    - Stockage HDD: 2X Seagate Desktop SSHD 2 To
I would to know if I made mistake(s) about this configuration if experienced AE users have suggestions for me ?
    Notable relating to:
    -1- 32 or 64 GO RAM
    -2- GPU choice
    -3- CPU choice:
-4- I planned to buy two SDD (Samsung 840 Pro 512 Go): one ofr the OS and one for the current project and the AE cache. Is it useful ?
Could I buy only one SSD (for the OS AND for the current project and the AE cache) ?
I would be happy to get your suggestions or user experience about this configuration. No one ever wants to waste money.
    Cheers
    Yann

Without knowing anything about your work it is impossible to judge these things specifically. Generally I'd say you are hopelessly overdoing it with the GPU. I don't know a single use case that actually uses 4 GB on any graphics card except for games. Most OpenGL plug-ins in AE are limited to 2 GB and while this of course could change in the future, currently I see no realistic scenario to push it beyond that, because in most cases then the plug-ins will simply crash due to bugs or their internal logic not being able to deal with more VRAM. Likewise you will see zero benefit of this in C4D unless you use a GPU third-party renderer like Octane. C4D's OpenGL performance will collapse on itself long before you have filled all the memory with textures... Similarly, I see no advantage of 64GB RAM over 32GB. I do heavy CAD scenes all the time, but still have enough room left on my systems with 24 and 32GB, respectively. AE won't use that much RAM even with all MP settings at full on most projects as well. Having the fastest CPU is another matter and many functions in AE, PS and C4D are of course pur CPU and will work faster on a faster processor. With regards to the cache stuff, scroll down a few posts and make up your mind...

  • Sager NP9570 - After Effects/Premiere Pro/SpeedGrade

    Hello everybody,
I want to buy a laptop that will double as my desktop.  I want to work in After Effects, handle 4k in Premiere Pro, color grade in SpeedGrade, and process audio files in Audition.  I’m new to video editing/effects/grading, having had under one year of evenings and weekends spent on many failed projects and learning the hard way how simple things are done.  That being said, I’ve never been an Apple guy (I think they’re overpriced for performance) so their laptops are out of the question for me.
My laptop of interest right now is Sager NP9570.  Here’s my provisional build:
    i7-4930K (6-core)
    32GB Quad Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1600MHz
Nvidia GeForce GTX 880M GPU with 8GB GDDR5 Video Memory
SSD1 (OS and Adobe CC): 120GB Samsung 840 EVO Series SATA3 Solid State Disk Drive
SSD2 (raw footage): 500GB Samsung 840 EVO Series SATA3 Solid State Secondary Disk Drive
SSD3 (projects): 500GB Samsung 840 EVO Series SATA3 Solid State Secondary Disk Drive
The screen is 17.3” and I am thinking of going with the 72% NTSC matte screen option, instead of the 90% NTSC glossy version.  It’s not for wanting to work in blinding sun that I say this, but because I heard the 90% NTSC screen can wreck damage to your grading (please let me know if I’m wrong).
I should add I’m also planning to take it with me on long trips through SE Asia.  It is heavy (essentially a desktop packed in a laptop), weighing 17 pounds including the ungodly 5-pound power brick.  I will basically use it as a mobile desktop, lugging it around in my suitcase and leaving it behind in the hotel room, while I go out to shoot.
I appreciate your support and words of advice.
    Serban

  • Loss of video quality & shaking on DVD after using premiere pro and encore to process material?

    Hi guys,
This is my first post out here on the adobe forums (so be gentle) and i am having a small issue which i hope someone can help with.
I made a small video for a friend of mine of her and her partner over the last 10 years of them being together. There is only one small video piece at the start and the rest of the video is picture based with music in the background. Now, i cut, mixed and edited all this material they gave me in Premiere Pro. I also added menu breaks to be able to eventually create scenes in Encore. This worked fine and the quality was great! I then queued this up and added my time line into Encore and began working on the menu screen, scene buttons and using the orphanage to drag my content from. I also set up some poster frames and so far all looked great.
Before building the DVD, i tested for errors and all came back clear. I changed it burning directly to a dvd disc, and instead built it as a DVD image, which created an ISO file on on my pc. From watching a few tutroials, ImgBurn was suggested as a great tool to burn the ISO onto DVD. So far, this was looking good. I then placed my new DVD into my Blu-Ray/DVD player and on screen came this pixelated image. I wasnt terrible, but it wasnt great either, not the sort of quality i was used to. I proceeded to start the movie and the picture was worse, the screen was shaking up and down constantly (only by about half a centimeter up and half down) and the quality was terrible.
Is there anyway to fix this?
(Happy to run through all my settings with someone on the phone or online. Happy to call overseas in need be, as i am in Australia)
    Thanks guys
    Rein

erm... ok, you might have to go back a page or two... cause i am not so familiar with all the terms and lingo....lol
Where would i find this field dominance?
I did initially export it as a bluray, but then had to change it to dvd since i dont have a bluray burner. They dont give you any other options in encore besides DVD, Bluray or flash...

  • What system should I build for After Effects?

    Hello everyone.
my friend built a system few months ago:
    Samsung 8GB x 8 1600 ECC REG
    WD Black 2TB x2
    256GB SSD
    E5-2680 x2
    2 GTX680 in SLi
    Win7 Ultimate x64
and I ran after effects CS6 on that system. And soon I noticed that this powerful system didn't show its power on after effects. In preferences I
enabled "Render Multiple Frames Simultaneously" but the performance was slow. Everytime I add some effects or preview the project in normal way (Press Spacebar) the CPU load was always low, under 20% all the time, and I couldn't preview the project smoothly. It seemed the only way to have a smooth preview is RAM preview. All the projects are in 1080p, 60fps, and the cache files and other material are located on the SSD. I don't know what the problem is, ...and is this just normal?
Now I want to build a system for myself soon and I'm looking for some advice. On the Internet someone said that the Dual CPU System doesn't fit AE and other said a pro class video card is needed. I don't know what the problem is...
And I'd like to know the correct setting in Menu - Perferences - Memory & Multiprocessing.
Anyone can help me? Thank you very much.

    Hi,
Here is a link to one of the threads around hardware. This is a discussion that has so many variables, an entire forum could be dedicated to it! It all comes down to what you want to use the system for - and by "use", I mean exact usage - What is After Effects going to do for you - Composite? Keying work? Text? Graphics etc etc etc...
The questions you are asking are exactly the same as mine at the moment. I am doing as much as I can to find a decent PC spec for what I want out of AE. Good luck, and have fun searching...
