New Build, Won't POST, Debug code stays at 00

I just got done building a new MPOWER MAX with an I5-4670K.  The build is a new power supply, motherboard, CPU, RAM.  Video card I was using was in an old system and worked fine.  24 pin power, and the 2x 8 pin power supplies are all hooked up.
I have torn the PC back apart to where it's now just Motherboard, and CPU.  No RAM, no Video card, no HDD's, no DVD drive.  The system will not POST, and the Debug code never changes from 00.  I have even pulled off all the front panel Power/LED/Speaker connectors.
I have also tried switching the BIOS toggle switch, and cleared BIOS from the back panel.  I don't know where to go with this since it won't even give me a code of any kind.

Since the OP hasn't been back for half a year, maybe it is best for you to open a new thread listing all of your particulars of system components, etc..

  • Z87 XPower motherboard will not POST, debug code stays 00

I've been trying to build this machine since mid May and I can't for the life of me get the stupid thing to POST. The board codes read 00 (definitely not D0) from the first second the board is powered on and do not change. I have a similar machine with an ASUS ROG Maximus board and the codes change very rapidly during the boot sequence.
    Here's my configuration:
    MSI Z87 XPOWER LGA 1150
    Intel Core i7-4790 Processor - BX80646I74790
Corsair RM 650W, 80 Plus Gold, Fully Modular (CP-9020054-NA)
    Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB (4x8GB) DDR3 2133 MHz RAM
Corsair Hydro Series CW-9060009-WW H100i Extreme Liquid/Water CPU Cooler
EVGA 01G-P3-1302-LR GeForce 8400 GS Video Card (Yes I'm aware it's a crappy gfx card, the machine does chip simulations, it's not for gaming)
Seagate Barracuda ST2000DM001 2TB Serial ATA Hard Drive
Corsair Obsidian Series 750D Performance Full Tower Case CC-9011035-WW
Things I've done to try and troubleshoot this problem:
Run the board stripped down, 1 stick of ram, cpu, stock cooler, psu (both BIOS)
Run the board stripped down out of the case on a bench (both BIOS)
Run the board without ram (both BIOS)
Run the board without ram and without a cpu (both BIOS)
Run the board with 1 stick of good ram from another machine, the proc and the psu (both BIOS)
Run the board with everything plugged in (both BIOS)
I have RMA'd the board TWICE and the proc once. The board isn't initializing, and I can't for the life of me figure out why. I've got another psu (corsair 750 CX) coming monday which I'm going to try. My last ditch effort after trying a second psu will be purchasing an earlier version of Haswell that takes an earlier BIOS, but honestly, the proc should be able to limp along to at least POST with the wrong BIOS.
If anyone has ANY ideas I would greatly appreciate it. TIA

I spoke with Jose Lopez on the phone who is listed as a technical support specialist according to his email signature. Supposedly on both RMAs updating the bios was listed on the work order. But I received back different boards, so I have no way of verifying what BIOS is on them. All MSI can manage to do is tell me that it is my other hardware which is impossible when it's running like this:
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/2hunibvkhkco899/2014-08-11%2017.38.06.mp4
Apologies for the fuzzy video, camera phone lens must've been dirty. It's the same result if you run it without the stick of ram as well. Note that ram is from another working computer, so that's not the issue.
As far as going to a repair shop and having them update the bios with an older haswell, no shop around here is willing to do that or has older haswells to even use to do that.
There was no communication from MSI as to what was done to the board, all they did was ship it back to me in a poorly padded box. There was no paperwork inside.
Apologies as well for sounding rude, I am just completely at the end of my rope over this. I paid $375 USD on this and I REALLY expect the stupid thing to work and MSI is being nothing short of infuriating.

  • New rig 990fxa-gd80v2 wont post debug code 19

I am building a new rig for my gf's brother and i can not get my new mobo to post. I am getting debug code 19. I couldn't find a lot of info on what the code means but from what I have seen its apparently a problem with the BIOS not being updated for my new CPU. I have tried all of my current working components from my rig on the board as well and it still showed code 19. Here are the specs on the rig.
    MOBO 990fxa-gd80v2
    CPU AMD FX-8320
    PSU 500W RAIDMAX
GPU EVGA GeForce GTX 560 Ti (Fermi) 1GB
    RAM G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
Like I said however I took apart my rig completely and switch all my known working parts onto the new MOBO and got the same error code. So I am not sure if the issue is really an outdated BIOS because it wouldnt post with my AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ok so it has been a few days since I last posted because I have been busy but I just finally had time to work on it. I essentially took out my mobo and replaced it with the new one that had been posting code 19. Using all my known working components from my computer including my PCU I am still recieving the same error code, even after moving my known working RAM into each different slot.I'm getting quite desperate here now and just am plain lost in trying to understand what seems to be the issue. I'd be very grateful for anyadditional information/tips here. Thanks.

  • BRAND NEW MSI x99s Gaming 7 Won't Boot, Debug Code 00

Just completed my build and my pc won't boot. Everything plugged directly into the psu is working but fans plugged into mother board don't spin and getting debug code 00 nothing displayed on screen.

    Hmm ok.
What you could do is: try each stick on its own, in every single DIMM slot. Make note which slots/sticks work or dont work. Then add to 1 (known to work) RAM stick and try moving this single one around all DIMMs again. Do the same until you get a failure or if works fine.
Which slots did you use by the way?

I then added the 4th one back in and now it boots. Any ideas why just switching those 2 positions would change anything??
Maybe for the first time it didnt go all the way down?

  • Z97 Gaming 7 won't post. debug LEDs at 41-43. MSI LED is off.

    Hi everyone,
Doing my first build in quite a few years so somewhat of a Noob. I'm using an MSI Gaming 7 and an Intel 4970k. I'm using 2x4GB Crucial 1833 SDRAM.
After hooking CPU and MB, and cooler (Evo 212) I decided to see if things boot before installing a dedicated GPU, drives, etc.
Unfortunately, I don't get to boot, and instead I get stuck in an early post: I go past 99->33-> then I eventually get stuck around 41-43 with the numbers occasionally shifting back. According to the manual, this is "early memory initialization error". I've tried using a single RAM in each of the slot, and then also tried the other one instead. No luck, always the same point.
Not sure what to do at this point, and whether there's a way to check if the MB or the CPU or both are hosed.
Also, I'm wondering why the MSI LED is not on. Should it be on up to the boot? What is its purpose?

    I'm using a Corsair CS650m.
I've noticed the CPU support issue after I encountered my problem and was surprised to see this, my understanding that the gaming boards did support the new Haswells, at least with a recent BIOS. In fact, there are some references online to BIOS update issues for this CPU.
Let me ask a crazy question: Is it possible that I've somehow POSTed correctly and what I'm seeing now is the CPU term? I'm wondering because the numbers (42-44) fluctuate a bit.  I know that POST and POST2 can be used for CPU temp, but I'm not sure how one distinguishes between that and a debug code.

  • Z77A-GD65 build won't post, I've tried everything I can think of...

    Hello all,
    Here are the parts:
    MSI Z77A-GD65 mobo
    Intel i5-3570K LGA 1155
    MSI N560GTX-TiHawk graphics card
    Samsung 30nm DDR3 RAM 2x 4gb
    Corsair H100 cooling
    Samsung 830SSD
Silverstone ST1000 1000watt power supply (this and my HDD are the only components from my old build and the HDD isn't attached)
I plug everything in, check and recheck, and all the fans and lights turn on for maybe a second and shut off with no beeps. I've RMA'd the board and processor to no avail. I've been breadboarding the build since the first time it failed to start. I checked the power supply with the paper clip test and on my old build to see if it was the problem and it was not as far as I can tell. It still functions as it should with the old build.
I followed multiple instructions to trouble shoot this problem and haven't gotten anywhere. I've tried with just the CPU, H100 and a stick of RAM and still get the same issue. I've tried both sticks separately in each socket and had the same issue, as well as a completely different set of sticks. I've switch the CPU cooler from the H100 to the stock one with no results. Reseated everything. Reset the CMOS. This build has never posted so nothing is overclocked and nothing has had any firmware updates. I've tried everything I can think of to get this problem fixed and I can't find the solution. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I should probably note that my old build is pretty old so most of the new parts aren't compatible with it so I can't update firmware and such on my own if those are possible issues.
    Thanks.
PS. Posting from my IPad so I apologize for any typos.

Are you saying that this is a new board and processor after having the same problems on the previous parts ?
I bought all the parts for this build, had the issue and though it was mobo caused so I sent that back. Then I had the same issue with the replacement so i sent the processor back. Same issue with the replace ment processor.
Quote from: xmad on 27-July-12, 19:37:58
Just to ask a probably silly question, but does that old psu have the proper connectors? Are the 4 pin connectors near the cpu filled? Is the backplate on backwards and shorting something?
Yes, it has all the right ports and connections. The backplate is correct as far as I can tell.
After talking with MSI and a local computer shop my current best guess is that I got a board with an old version of the bios that isn't compatible with the processor I have. That means to bios will need to be flash updated, something I have no idea how to do. My local computer shop said they could do it for 65$ but with no garuntees if something goes wrong. So, I'm going to send it to MSI and have them do it.
Thanks for the ideas guys, if you can think of anything else let me know.

  • New build of DE posted, 22 June

We have posted a new build of Digital Editions, 1.0.0.467. This resolves the crash that was seen by some Windows users (primarily older P3 CPUs). To get the fixed build, please go to your Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs and remove Digital Editions. Then go to
    http://www.adobe.com/products/digitaleditions/
The button should now say Install Digital Editions. Go ahead and do that, agreeing to the prompts as they come. It should install and launch DE without problems. Please let us know that if this does not work for anyone who was seeing the crash previously.

  • Help - new pc build won't POST!

    Hi
I've built a new pc for my wife. I spec'd it a little lower than my own due to cost considerations, also I wanted some compatibility of parts.
I've powered-up, but no BIOS POST runs. The fans power up, I can see the CD drive flashing for a few moments, the D bracket shows BIOS sign on lights from the moment I press the power-on switch. There's no light on the keyboard & the monitor is in power save. I have swapped out the graphics card as a test.
    Can anyone help please?
System (my own system is in the sig):
    MSI 865PE Neo2-P BIOS v? | Pentium 4 3.0gHz/800 HT | standard CPU cooler | Kingston PC3200 1GB dual ch (KVR400X64C3AK2/1G) | MSI FX5200 T128 | Samsung 120GB SATA | TDK 24x10x40 CDRW | Enermax Noisetaker EG425AX-VE 420W +3.3v=32a, +5v=36a, +12v=15a/14a | CoolerMaster Praetorian - Silver

    1. I tried rebooting with nothing connected other than memory, cpu & graphics - same result.
    2. Removed memory, then tried memory in the other slots - no effect.
    3. Cleared CMOS - no effect.

  • MSI 990fxa-gd65 new build won't boot or post

Hi, any help with this issue would be most appreciated
I have just built a new system spec below:
    MSI 990fxa-gd65
    AMD FX8350
    2 x 4GB Hyper X fury DDR3 1866Mhz RAM
    MSI GTX960 Graphics card
    1TB WD HDD
Corsair HX1000w (recovered from an older machine and in full working order)
Unit powers ok, all fans are running, HD, Graphics card fans run and lights up DVD drive spins up OK too.
Motherboard has two cpu phase lights lit. There is no post beeps or video out.
I've tried it with a single stick of memory and a different lower spec video card but nothing seems to work. Some posts are suggesting the CPU may not be supported with the MoBo's current version of bios so questions are:
How can I find out the bios version and if it is compatible as it doesn't reach the bios screen?
If it needs updating how do you update it?

    Hi,
Post S/N of the motherboard and we are able to tell you (roughly) which BIOS version it has.
What if you try without graphics card?
Did you try to clear CMOS? --> >>Clear CMOS Guide<<
If it needs updating, you will either need:
    -Supported CPU by current BIOS
-SPI programmer (some IT services has one)

    Corsair Dominator-GT 12GB (6 x 2GB) DDR3 1866

    x2 EVGA 01G-P3-1465-AR GeFroce GTX 465 (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5
(If I'm missing anything necessary please let me know, I think I got all of the important components.)
I put the entire build together and the first time I powered the system on it turned on and ran fine but had no POST (was powered on for about twenty seconds, no trouble). I was able to power it off holding the power button for 3 seconds. On a second and any subsequent tries to power the machine on it would run for 1-3 seconds and then immediately power off. I've combed the wiring several times for errors in putting it together but am confidant that is not the problem - from what I've read as long as the 8-pin connector (#2, not #3) and 24-pin connector are on I should at least be able to have continous power. Both of these are plugged in, the 8-pin using two four-pin connections. The #3 8-pin power connectors are not connected.
I've also tried using a separate power supply. I did *not* remove any components when I swapped power supplies, however I did unplug everything. I then plugged in only the 8-pin and 24-pin power connections and received the same problem.
When I get home I'm going to try remove everything and try the board+PSU+processor+1 stick of ram at a time on my tabletop, and I'll also try this configuration with the second power supply.
I was just wondering if there were any other possible solutions or cuplrits that I may have missed? I know resetting the CMOS is a common suggestion but I'm unsure how to do this - I'm a novice builder at best. If all of the above fails I'll try reseating the processor and reapplying the thermal paste/fan, but I'm relatively confidant I did both of those things correctly (I used a smal X of thermal paste on the processor, and I lined it up with the arrow pointing to the arrow on the mobo. If I end up reseating the processor I'll try the grain of rice method for the paste.)
All components are new fresh out of the box. Error code before the system shuts up is 68.
    Thanks for any help!

    Table top tests continued:
Reseated the processor. Made sure to check very closely that it was seated correctly the first time before pulling off and that there were no bent pins when I took it off - neither was the case. Upon power up I had the same problem.
I also had a friend bring in some different ram to test - Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1600. I know for sure I've seen this ram used successfully with this board. It demonstrates the same problem, after power up it turns off about 1-2 seconds later. When the ram is moved to the non-primary (blue slots) I get 3 post beeps.
So in summary - I've tried two separate power supplies (one that was new, another that is known to work in my old machine) two separate rams and reseating the processor as well as checking for bent pins. None of them resolved the problem.
Is there anything else I should try or does this conclude in a bad mobo?
If you need any additional specs on the stuff I've tested let me know. Thanks again for the help! Its much appreciated.

  • NF750-G55 New Build Won't Boot to DVD

I'm doing a rebuild of a system in which the old motherboard failed. This is only the second time I have done a build, so forgive any apparent ignorance. The following describes the system: Motherboard: MSI NF750-G55, CPU: AMD Athlon II X3 450, PSU: Hiper Type R MkII 880W, Case: Antec Three Hundred, Memory: Rendition by Crucial 1 X 4GB, Hard Drive: Seagate 400 GB, DVD: Samsung 22X SpeedPlus. Only the case, PSU and DVD come from the first build I did 18 months ago and were fine until the old MOBO failed.
The problem I'm encountering with the new MSI NF750-G55 is booting to the DVD so I can load Windows Vista onto the hard drive. The POST gives me a Bad CHKSUM error and directs me to bios setup. In setup, the Boot Sequence shows my DVD and hard drives as disabled and won't let me enable either.
I've uninstalled everything, cleared the CMOS and reinstalled everything five times. Nevertheless I am still getting the same error message and can't enable either  my DVD drive or hard drive. Therefore, I'm unable to successfully boot up and load windows onto the new hard drive.
I'm out of ideas and ready to return the MOBO to Newegg for another, but I would rather fix the problem. Does anyone have any ideas as to what I can try next before I ask for an RMA?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide this newbie.

I've tried loading defaults (both optimized and fail-safe) in bios setup as well as by using F2 in the chksum error screen. All result in a screen that looks like this:
The text that is obscured in the upper part of the screen reads:
BTX loader 1.0 BTX version is 1.01
    Console: internal video/keyboard
Bios drive C: is disk 0
    Bios 636kB/2030208kB available memory
Once in that screen, the only way out is to unplug the PSU and reset the CMOS.
As I said before, I'm stymied and have no idea what to try next.

do not do this, just hit reset button then press F11 during BIOS post screen and boot from your optical drive.
