New Business Model: What kind of consultant will arise?

Some evangelists predict the 'death of the consultant' as is there. To what extent we will be affected by this revolution?
"With the availabilty of the HANA technology, exisiting business processes become real-time, process steps become obsolete, new process will evolve that were not possible so far and companies will invent new business models based on new products and services - all that requireed consultants who support that transition!"
Michael Lamade (OpenSAP Team)
"Future does not have to be an increment of the past."
Dr. Vishal Sikka, quoting Alan Kay in "An Introduction to SAP HANA"
What do you think?

I don't believe BW is really dying as a "modeling environment".
What might probably happen is for BW to disappear as an additional persistence layer (the BW Box), i.e. the Embedded BW scenario tends to gain more and more visibility. With virtual infoproviders and transformations being pushed down to the HANA layer, you can get pretty much the same results than a persistent BW with very good performance and 1/10th of the data footprint (zero replication).
This is already true today. Check for example the details on the analytical applications on top of SFIN (Smart Financials) 1.0. SFIN is the new FI module (aka HANA GL), rebuilt from scratch on top of HANA. i.e it is the first piece of ERP that was not adapted but born on top of an in-memory architecture. It was what HANA was developed for in the first place (i.e. the next-generation SAP ERP architecture). And its analytical applications, for example the new SAP Smart Cash Management app, are completely built on top of Virtual Infoproviders in Embedded BW (i.e. BW as a LDW, Logical Data Warehouse). This means the modeling skills of BW Consultants are not gonna disappear, they'll still be required since BW infoproviders on top of VIPs, Composite Providers, BEx Queries etc. are all gonna be there for a long, long time.

BI Content for SAP Smart Cash Management - SAP Library
Adaptations for Smart Financials Planning Applications - Integrated Business Planning - SAP Library
SAP delivers the following planning applications:
Cost center planning on years and periods
Project planning on years and periods
Internal order planning on years and periods
Market segment planning on years and periods
Profit center planning on years and periods
Functional area planning on years and periods
P&L planning on years and periods
These applications consist of “local” BI content. “Local” means that this BI content is shipped with the Smart Financials system and not with the “central” BI content. Local content runs on the ERP system directly using the “Embedded BW” and does not need a separate BW installation. The content for Smart Financials planning consists of HANA views, InfoProviders, MultiProviders, Aggregation Levels, Queries, Filters, Planning functions, Planning sequences, and Analysis Workbooks.
Another point is that this means that the investments that SAP customers have made on top of BW are also going to be protected.
They just need to adapt the Data Source layer to the new ODP (Operational Data Provisioning) concept and the rest will pretty much work as is.
The same adaptions are being made by SAP in the standard BI Content.
Best regards,
Henrique.

  • The new business model?

The new business model is inflexible. It might be suitable for many scenarios, but I will be looking for alternatives to Photoshop and the Premiere, wherever possible. This subscription model could be a boon to some businesses; Adobe will ultimately loose both long-term customers, as well as potential new users. A bad move overall.

I'm quite sure the user base is in the millions.  And I can't find the reference now because of the flood of buzz about the announcement, but it seems to me I read that the number of Creative Cloud subscribers is already quite huge.  I'm not sure your personal opinions are correct, given the wild success of the program already.  Stockholders have noticed.
The short and simple fact is this:  Adobe's got the goods; professionals want the goods, and will pay for them.
Yes, it's more expensive for a casual photographer to subscribe than it has been to upgrade to every other version of Photoshop Standard, and there is the limitation that you don't get to keep using an old version of Photoshop once you've terminated a subscription, but it's a professional product suite, and people who truly need it pay for it.
Perhaps Photoshop Elements is worth another look.
Yes, it may sting to learn that you can no longer afford the top-of-the-line graphics editing tool, but...  How many of us can afford top-of-the-line anything?  Do you have the top-of-the-line camera from your favorite manufacturer?  How about your computer?  Your car?
I think something that would help ease a lot of minds is a reasonable exit strategy.  One that shows some appreciation by Adobe for your having been a cloud subscriber.
What if, for example, after 2 years of keeping your subscription current you were allowed to continue to use any released revision of Photoshop 2 years old or older upon terminating your subscription?

I have an 8 year old G5 / OS X 10.4.11, what kind of problems will I have now switching from Mobileme to iCloud?

You can migrate to iCloud, but the only thing you will be able to do is access email, and you will have toi set Mail up manually to do this:
Entering iCloud email settings manually in Tiger
This is worth doing to maintain your email address, but you won't be able to sync calendars, contacts or bookmarks. Your calendars and contacts will be removed from MobileMe (though not from your Mac) and won't appear on the iCloud website.

  • What kind of camcorders will work with iMovie?

I'm confused about what kind of camcorders can be used to import footage onto iMovie. Does the camcorder have to be digital? Can it have one of those little tapes?
Also, if I don't have iDVD can I record the edited video right onto the camcorder tape from iMovie? I've never used this stuff before, any comments are appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi stiles:
First, I suggest strongly that you view this:
    http://www.apple.com/support/imovie/tutorial/
IDVD and iMovie are two different software programs that come as a part of the iLife bundle. You do not need iDVD to run iMovie nor the other way around. So, you can export your edited video directly to your camera from imovie (and it's up to you if you want to burn a dvd in iDVD after that).
You will need a Digital Video Camcorder like this

  • BBPCO what kind of information will post to R/3

    Hi all,
I doc BBPCO - for commitment posting , this i doc what kind of information send it to R/3
    Thanks and regards
    Harish

    Hello Harish,
The BBPCO is useful for standalone scenario where no PO is created in the backend thus no commitment without this message type. In other scenarios, we don't need BBPCO.
PO will be created by BAPI & commitments will be posted similar to a manual PO in backend.
    See more details on thread
    BBPCO IDoc not being generated
    Hope this helps.

  • I have a macbook 13"screen purchased in 2007; I want to hook it up to my HDTV; I purchased a mini display port to hdmi adaptor but it does not fit.   what kind of adaptor will work for this model?

I have a Macbook, 13" screen, purchased in 2007.    I want to hook it up to my HDTV; I purchased a mini display port to hdmi adapter but it does not fit.   Any suggestions?

If you connect yourMacBook using a MiniDVI/HDMI adapter you will need to use external speakers for audio since the pre-2010 MacBooks will only send video through the MiniDVI or MiniDisplay Port . The MiniDVI/HDMI doesn't carry audio and there's no audio plugs on the TV to work with HDMI since it's expecting audio with the HDMI.
If your TV has a DVI input plug you can use a MiniDisplayPort/DVI adapter. Then a DVI cable to the DVI input plug on the TV. The TV will have RCA audio plugs for use with the DVI. Plus DVI gives a sharper image than HDMI.

  • My hard drive is failing, need a new one.  What kind should I buy for a Mac osx 10.4.11 Tiger.

Also I have backed up all my data on a mercury elite external hard drive.  But it would not allow me to clone my drive.  Possible due to the error, failing hard drive.  How would I get my data back on the new drive?

You can run you Mac from an external harddrive.  I do not notice much difference when I run from an external drive.
You need to use a coloning program to get the external hd to boot.
Carbon Copy Cloner will copy your startup drive to an external  firewire drive.  You can boot from the external drive to verify that you have a good clone. When you upgrade your existing startup drive, you can at any time boot from your external drive and go back to your existing system.

SuperDuper is the wildly acclaimed program that makes recovery painless, because it makes creating a fully bootable backup painless. Its incredibly clear, friendly interface is understandable, easy to use, and SuperDuper's built-in scheduler makes it trivial to back up automatically. And it runs beautifully on both Intel and Power PC Macs!
Give SuperDuper a workout on your own system. Clone to your heart's content — for free. See what else is possible. When you're convinced that SuperDuper is a terrific solution — and a great value at $27.95 — you can register right from the application and start using its advanced features immediately!

  • What kind of problems will I run into if I buy a used Mini hat can run only 10.6? Will some basic programs be no supported in the near future - similar to what happened with PPCs/10.5.8?

If i buy a used Mac Mini that can only run 10.6.8, will I immediately run into issues related to apps that are no longer supported on an older OS? I don't want to experience the same thing that happened with PPCs and 10.8.5.
    Thanks

I run an older Flash version, mind you one that is hacked slightly.  I only view perhaps 15 min. of Youtube per week so I don't have a huge sample but I haven't encountered any real issues with my older version.  Sure, YouTube warns me about using an older version but it seems to work.  What doesn't work is my computer speed.  No, not so much that but if I view a video in my browser it does not play smoothly.  It works fine if I download it to my computer and then view it with VLC or Niceplayer outside the browser.  When viewing things on YouTube I let them play in the browser, then if it's somethign I really, really want to see in nice presentation I download it and play it outside the browser.  This all works even on my pretty old G4.
Flash player 11.1 hack on PowerPC - https://discussions.apple.com/message/16990862 - this gets FP to tell web sites you are running a newer version than you really are. This gets around web sites that don't really need a new version but think they know best. If they really do require it then this hack doesn't work.

  • New HD: a) what kind? b) good UK seller? c) self-install? d) new laptop?

The 200GB hard disk on my MacBook is filling up and I'd like to look into buying and installing a new hard disk which I guess would be significantly cheaper than buying a new laptop. But I've never tried such a thing before and I'm no expert.
    a) I know I will be after a 500GB or 1TB disk, but what other specifications should I be looking for to ensure that it will fit a MacBook, and are there particular recommended brands?
    b) Are there any particular widely-recommended UK sellers (online or high street) of such products. Not being an expert who knows what I'm doing, I'd be inclined to go for reliable/established rather than 'bargain'.
    c) Is it realistic to think I can install a new hard drive myself? I'm not very techy, but I am pretty good at following instructions.
    d) Are there any reasons (eg obsolescence-related) that it would in fact make more sense to buy a new laptop rather than trying to upgrade this one?
That's quite a set of questions, but hopefully they make sense to those of you know have wisdom about these things, and any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

i can answer one of your questions.  Installing a new hard drive is VERY easy.  I have no formal computer training at all and just followed the directions.  Apple tells you how to do so in your owners manual.  As an alternative to looking in your manual, find your macbook from here and select hard drive replacement and you will see a handy, easy to follow replacement guide: http://www.ifixit.com/Browse/MacBook. If hard drive space is the only reason you are considering buying a new computer, just buy a larger hard drive and keep your mac until you no longer find it useful. Hopefully other readers will be able to answer your other questions.  Hope this helps you in some way

  • WRT300N what kind of Bridge will go with this ?

I just purchase a WRT300N and I want to hook up my garage to it by using a Bridge. My kids have a Xbox and a laptop over the garage in a recroom so I was wondering what do I need ?
The distance is around 600 feet away clear line of site.

i believe , there is no device which will suffice your requirement....however, you can try the set up mentioned below....
    modem --> wrt300n -->  wap54ge ( 1 )         ~~~~~~~~~     wap54gpe (2)
the first wap54gpe can be connected by using an ethernet cable at a distance of 100 fts...and get the secured wap54gpe configured in repeater mode....
each wap54gpe should give you around 300fts....
another way around will be to design an antenna either a parobola or a flat panel..depending upon the design , it should give you a very good signal......

  • What kind of situation will delete persistence query cache?

    Hi Experts.
as far as I know persistent cache (cluster table) will not invalidated unless data is uploading or bex query is changed.
but sometimes cache is disappear even qube updating time and query generating time have nothing changed.
what other circumstance can cause invalidate persistence cache?
does persitence cache also invalidated by LRU algorism?
    thanks in advance.
    Lee.

    Hi Sang Hyun,
When you execute several parallel queries, some processes remain in an OLAP cache lock for a very long time.
Please have a look at SAP Note 1053682 - OLAP cache: Enqueue deadlock in invalidation/parallelism and Correction Instructions mentioned in SAP Note 1050089 OLAP cache: Enqueue deadlock in extensive parallelism .
    Please post with your findings.
    Hope this Helps.

  • What kind of difference will I see?

    Hi all,
Currently using Rev A 20 inch iMac CD with Aperture and am very disappointed with the speed/snappiness of it (actually am disappointed on both iMac and CD Macbook Pro).
Being that Apple has just launched new iMacs I am particularly tempted by the 24inch 2.8 C2D extreme. How will this stack up against my current machine?
I've read that the 2600 HD Pro isn't "all that" and am a bit worried that if I buy one of the new iMacs to use with Aperture I'm still going to be left wanting.
I should point out that the plan is to potentially get a 24inch iMac with 2.8 Extreme C2D and then max out the RAM at 4Gb.
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    TIA
    Alistair

    Welcome to the forums.
Desktop. It will run circles around the MacBook Pro in terms of rendering. Huge for After Effects. If you don't need the portability, get the MacPro.
But know that After Effects isn't built for the Intels yet, so it won't function as fast as it could, because it has to work under Rosetta.

  • New E 550, what kind of SSD and where does it go?

Sorry if this has been answered already (searched but couldn't find it) but I would like to add an SSD to my new E 550.  I was just going to do a swap out for the regular HDD with an older SSD I had but I found out that my older SSD is too large. So at this point since I need a new one, I was wondering if I could get an SSD that would allow me to keep the HDD as additional storage. Can I get an m2 or msata SSD?  And where does it go exactly?  Any warranty issues?  tks, Ty

Appreciate the reply! I was hoping that there was a mini-PCIE slot like my older one but I wasn't sure if I could get to it (I opened up the panels underneath and looked to no avail) or if the WAN card was using it. tks again, Ty [Edit]
Clicked the Maintenance Manual link you provided and found this.  2101 Detection error on HDD1 (Ultrabay HDD) 1. Reseat the hard disk drive. 2. Replace the Ultrabay® hard disk drive. 3. Replace the system board.2102 Detection error on HDD2 (Mini SATA) 1. Reseat the Mini SATA device. 2. Replace the mini SATA device. 3. Replace the system board. Or is this barking up the wrong tree?

  • If I subscribe to iCloud Drive, what kind of changes will affect me?  i.e. $

Does iCloud Drive add to the "clutter" of ads I get when going to most websites?
Does "iCloud Drive"  essentially mean "a sharable (if I choose to do so) storage facility accessed through the WEB rather than a hard drive resident on my desktop or laptop, which also contains a collection of Apps for my personal or for shared use"?
    Thanks for any feedback, DWW

    1. No.
