First time BW-RSA1 configuration
Setting Source system for R/3 system
Is their any global settings I need to setup
Mapping source system in RSA1 menu level.
We are not using any other currencies/fiscal year variant etc.
Do I need to rebuild the Currencies,fiscal year variant,unit of measurement .
Please advise on this issue.

No need.You can update the tables(for above information) in BW from R/3. There is an option in the source system tree.
Source Systems >select you source sytem> right click on it-->'Transfer Global settings'.

Creating a new DEV system with the QAS configuration

Hi there,
We're planning to have a contingency server and then, a new server has been bought and will be a new DEV system.
We would like to have a copy of our QAS system (but only configuration) so that we can create the DEV system.
What could be a good plan for that?!
I thought exporting the QAS client and after restoring the backup of DEV system into the new server, importing the QAS client.
Is there any other idea?!

You can install the new system refresh with Dev data and import the custom settings of QAS.
I hope already whatever is in QAS should be also in DEV in fact more than QAS data.

SLD Configuration to New Technical System is failed.

Hi,
As per the error - the technical system already exists in the SLD. You could check in the list of existing technical systems if system STV already exists. If you want, use the same entry or else delete it first and try registering the system.
Also, why are you recreating the system manually now? Was there a restore, system copy or any other activity?
Manually creating the is not recommended. Auto register the system to SLD via RZ70 for ABAP or SLD Data supplier in Visual Admin for Java systems.

We already Installed and configured sap integration kit and every thing works fine. My question is as of now we connected our sap BW Dev system to BOBJ but we would like to connect to BW Prod System to same BOBJ System. What are the steps we need to follow to do this.
Can we just add the new logical system in entitlement tab of sap authentication in BOBJ 3.1? and import the roles and login to BOBJ USING THE Newly added SYSTEM Credentials. Thanks in Advance.

New Development system copy from Production

Hi All,
Hope you can help me out here with some ideas.
We are currently planning to implement a new SAP BW Development system, and for this we would like to make it a 1:1 copy of our current production system. Meaning all from customizing, ABAP, workbench objects etc.
But what we do not want is all the transaction and master data in infoobject, cubes etc., we are only interested in the structure and objects. Therefore we can rule out "System copy".
My question is then, is there any other ways to do this when system copy is a no go? I know we can do client copy but then we will not get all the workbench / ABAP programs which we need.
Any ideas on how to do this?

Options 1: As BI objects are cross client , copying client will not solve your purpose 100%.
You can perform system copy and then clean up data in DEV
Option 2: You can create a new Development and then create TRs for required configuration objects and move to new development system.
Option 3: Use SLO tools to perform container copy without any data.

SCCM HW inventory agent runs as the ‘SYSTEM’ and cannot see the end-users network drives and printers. The following two step process will help circumvent the above stated limitation.
1) CREATE HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SCCMINVENTORY\NETWORKPRINTERS PATH IN THE REGISTRY.
Create a SCCM package.
The package should run as administrator.

Either import the above MOF file into the Client Setting/Default Client Settings/Hardware Inventory/Classes/Import. Select the option to import every thing.
Alternatively, if you have compiled the MOF manually on the PC, Add a new reporting class by clicking the ‘Add’ button and connecting to the PC and selecting the WMI class ‘NETWORKPRINTERS‘
and that is it. The SCCM resource explorer should soon see the Network Printers.
Now, this is a convoluted process but this is the only way I can inventory Network printers. Any ideas or suggestions?

New Logical System for every BPM in R3?

Do I need to set up a new Logical System in my R3 system for every BPM in XI that sends IDOC to it?
I need several BPM to split messages which I want to send to a R3 system. When I configure the scenario, the BMP is imported to the Configurator and the Adapter-Specific Identifiers need be added. A Logical System must be entered for the IDOC adapter. This Logcial System must be unique.
Is it possible to have several BPM without setting up a logical system in R3 for each of them?

Hi Elling,
You can overwrite the logical system name in the receiver agreement. If you select a different system (from the SLD) as Sender Service, the IDOC will be send using the logical system name of this sender service.
What we normally do is, set the sender service for a BPM to the original sender service.

Feasibility for a new production system in the same environment

Dear friends,
Our management has come up with a requirement of expansion of SAP environment to cover up users in a different country for their francise over there. The options we are considering are below:
1. Implementing a whole new setup ( ECC, EP,BI, PI,Trex).
2. Expanding the lease lines between the sites in both the countries and providing access to the present setup itself with enhancement in the current hardware configuration.
or is it a good practice to keep a new Production system in the other country and add a new delivery route for the new production system within the current transport route ? How the license part may be taken care in these cases ?

Hi Sujit,
The answer to this question really depends on whether the new country is going to share much of the same configuration with some tailoring to local laws and requirements. If the system is going to be the same, then there is now reason to deploy a new system unless you are reaching technical limits for hardware. For ease of management and usage, then having one system is preferred. You can then upgrade your network to cope with the increased load and hardware as required.

Error with Transport system not configured that may be related to CHaRM

Who has in depth knowledge on setting up SAP Solution Manager CHaRM. Had an odd problem with the transport system failing when the QA system was shut down for maintenance. Transports were not able to be created or save to. Error message was Transport System not configured. Brought up QA and re-distributed system and Transport group and transport requests started working again.

if a system, e.g. QA system, will not be available due to a maintenance task,
we set the status of this system to "temporarily inactive" (see header data in transaction SMSY).
This status allows us, to create new transport requests in DEV-System although consolidation system QA is not available.
(Of course you have to reset the status, when QA-system ist started again.)
Hint: it is not possible to release or to import a transport request, when consolidation system is shut down.
Therefore the developer should pay attention to the messages, which raise in urgent corrections.

PI 7.0 Java stack config of the stand-alone server to new cluster system

Hi colleagues,
we have a PI installation in stand alone server (SAP with abap +
java and Oracle in the same server)
The system number of the ABAP stack is 00, and we are conecting to the
Java stack to the for example the URL
http://hostname:50000/rep/start/index.jsp
We have installed a new PI in a MSCS and in some weeks, we´ll have to
copy the database and configuration of the stand-alone server to the
new cluster system. In the SAP PI installation on the MSCS, we have
confirmed that with the ABAP stack, we won´t have any issue because the
ASCS has the system number 00 (message server), so we only have to
install a SAP system in each nodes without care these new system
numbers because we are configuring a Logon group but the question is in
the Java stack... The SCS (service in the cluster) has the 01 system
number...
What is the best way to keep the same URL to the Java stack that in the
stand-alone server? (remember:
http://hostname:50000/rep/start/index.jsp )
Have we to install a Webdispatcher in the MSCS and one Java stack in
each node of the cluster? we think that is right but we have a lot of
doubts about the URL, the files of the Java (if they are stored in
local disk in one node, how are they replicated to the second node?)
and so on....
Could you give us any suggestion to make the "migration" from the stand-alone to a cluster in a transparent way for the users?

For information
Our central SLD is on a standalone system
However slave SLD (to ensure autonomy and HA for production XI system) will be deployed on Java separated hardware system of Xi production system.
On master SLD all systems are described and all machine are linked with it (SLDAPICUST) except production XI one
On slave SLD, all data of master one are replicated and only XI system is linked with (SLDAPICUST)

System.ServiceModel.Configuration.MachineSettingsSection does not exist

None my versions - 3.5 -4.5.1 of .NET has a class System.ServiceModel.Configuration.MachineSettingsSection
The only class with that name that exists is System.Transactions.Configuration.MachineSettingsSection
I can only assume this is why it is not possible to add that section to machine.config, can anybody confirm this please?
If so, then where should this section go in machine.config to enable PII logging?

The System.ServiceModel.Configuration.MachineSettingsSection class is indeed not public.
But you can still add the enableLoggingKnownPii setting to a configuration file if this is what you want:

Integrating new SAP systems into GRC 10

I already have one landscape configured into GRC AC 10 and running successfully. As this was done by vendor, now I would like to add different landscapes exisiting in our company into GRC 10 to take the full advantage of AC 10.
I do not have the total step by step guide to do it, so i wish to know if anyone can briefly suggest the instructions on how to achicve tihs.
I remember the following steps to be done:
1. Adding rfc connections in sm59 in both target and host systems.
2. Adding connector and configuration settings in SPRO.
3. Can we use the existing MSMP and BRF+ workflows for new systems?
Please suggest more steps required to configure the new systems.

Hi there,
This can be quite involved and it is unlikely that you'll get everything that you need on this forum as it will vary considerably depending on your existing blueprint and requirements.
If you want to add multiple more landscapes, then you are correct in that you'll need to create RFCs and then perform the additional SPRO configuratiion as appropriate. However, take great care around your management of the connector groups and managing the transports around connector settings.
In answer to your workflow question, it depends whether you have workflow which is dependent on the system or connector. If connector is not important in the workflow derevation, then it should work fine for additional systems. If there is an element which is dependent on the system, then you'll have to augment the rules to identify the new ones in the configuration.
I would look at the scope of work and work out what you actually want to do then make a decision about whether you need to engage some additional assistance (either from your previous supplier or a new supplier) or whether you wish to upskill your own people to support it. I would have thought that some administrator training would have been provided though by your existing supplier?

Unable to create New Business System

I Installed XI 3.0 and configuring as per the configuration guide.
When I try to create Business System (SLD) I get the following error message.
"Integration Server already defined There is already an integration server defined for the selected technical system. Please select role Application System."
Steps:
Logon on to SLD
Click on New Business System
Name: XID and click on Next
Technical System Type: Web AS for ABAP
Select System: XID on Hostname   and select Client
Installed products: Choose all and click Nextt
Integration Server:
Business System Role: Integration Server
Pipeline url: http://HOST:PORT/sap/xi/engine/entry?action=execute
Initially I created Business System with wrong Name (P01) . I deleted it and try to recreate with new name (XID) I get the above error.
How to create a Business system and assign the role of Integration Server?

Hi RG,
      Once we had   same error ,due to some reason business system with role integration server deleted.
       It has been resolved by deleting XI technical system and recreating same after that it allows to define new bussiness system with role as integration server .
