New C310 - Wireless working FAIL - Printer's wireless network seems to be dead

Product: HP Photosmart Premium C310
OS: Windows Vista 64 bit and Windows 7 64 Bit
Error: Wireless working: FAIL
Changes: No changes since this is the first install of this printer ever
Description:
I've just unpacked my new C310 as a replacement for my older HP Inktjet 3845.
But when trying to install the wireless network everything I try seems to fail.
Printer doesn't detect my wireless network (blue wireless led is blinking 1sec on - 1sec off )
HP Network test tool on my laptop (standing next to the printer to test it's location ) gives no issues whatsoever, wireless network is strong and working very well.
Settings of the wifi connection are WPA security, no WPS, Channel 11, ... .
When I run a Wireless Network Test report from the printer menu, the result is (= printout)
* Wireless On => PASS
* Wireless Working => FAIL
* All the other points below are on status NOT RUN so no connection at all ...
Solutions tested:
Tried to reboot printer while waiting 1 minute in between => No result
Reset to factory settings straight on the printer => No result
Tried to run the Wireless network Setup Wizzard several times without merit.
Explanations on the forums seemed to be that this might be a faulty wireless network card in the printer?
Since this is one of the reasons of buying this item, I do need it to work.
Can anyone provide me advice/next steps?
Kind regards,
Raf

The printer would always need to be unplugged and plugged back in to get it to recognize things and print.   We moved and it sat in a box for 2 months, now, when its turned on and I go through set up it doesn't recognize a wireless network.   I ran a test page wireless on, wireless working... fail, then all the other tests say not run.  I turned it off and on, unplugged and replugged, I'm at a loss, anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance

    Hello Kayjay-
Sounds like you need to restore network settings. Press the wrench on the front panel, then press network. After network screen, press the restore network defaults. Then go back and run the wireless set up wizard. I hope this helps.

  • Getting Windows PC to see wireless Airport Express printer in mixed network

I have a wireless network that has been working well. Base station is a SMC wireless router with two Macs connected via Ethernet, a MacBook and a Dell Windows XP joining in wirelessly. No problems. I recently added a Canon Pixma i4200 connected to an Airport Express in client mode. I set up the Airport Express via the MacBook and have no problem printing wireless to the Canon from the MacBook.
The question is how to set up the Dell Windows XP system to see the Canon printer? We tried installing the Canon print driver, but it really wants the printer to be plugged into the PC and won't complete the driver installation. We'll go ahead and plug it in for the setup I guess and then disconnect it. Since I already configured the Airport Express via the MacBook, I didn't want to try to set it up via the Dell PC, but is that likely to help?
This network is such a mixed bag, I think I'm lucky to have everything working as well as it does. Happy to be able to print wirelessly to the new Canon from the MacBook, but my wife wants to be able to print to this printer from her Dell upstairs. The nice feature of the Canon is that it prints duplex.
    thanks for any help

  • Can't connect PC and Mac to print via wireless network

I have the HP Office Jet All-In-One 6500. I've never been able to get both my Mac and PC to print wirelessly.
First, Mac worked fine wirelessly, then had to print via ethernet for PC. Then that quit working for PC. So I uninstalled printer drivers on PC, reinstalled and it works great printing via the network.
However, now my Mac -- my main computer -- wont print. It spends hours "connecting....." MacBook running Leopard OS 10.5.8.
Why can't both computers access this printer over the same wireless network? Absolutely NO settings were changed on my Mac from the time it worked, until now. Only thing I did was get the PC to work.
I've tried turning the printer off and restarting.... didn't help.
I bought this wireless printer so that both computers could use 1 printer.... I don't want to have 2 printers for my little office! Please help HP!

First, please look on the label underneath the router and let us know the exact model and hardware version of the router. Also check which firmware you are running on the router at http://192.168.1.1/ and verify that you are actually running the most current firmware. You can find out which is the newest firmware on the downloads page of the linksys website.
Second, is it possible that you used the Mac before to connect directly to the internet without the router? In that case it could well be possible that the Mac is still doing so, connecting to the internet itself, bypassing the router and thus terminating whatever internet connection the router established before (which the PCs were using).
Third, after being kicked out, please check the following in a command prompt window on the PCs ("Run..." and enter "cmd"). "ping 192.168.1.1" you should still get replies.
Fourth, what is the IP address and gateway address which the Mac gets when getting online?

  • Unable to print from MacBookPro to printer in Windows network

    Hi,
I am trying to print from a MacBookPro on an HP printer connected to a desktop computer running Windows Vista.
    MacBookPro  - running Mac OS X 10.7.5; 2 GHz Intel Core 7; 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Windows desktop computer - Acer Aspire M1100 running Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 32-bit; 2.1 GHz AMD Athlon X2 Dual Core
Printer - HP Deskjet F2210 All-in-one (printer, scanner), connected to Windows Desktop via USB (direct, not hub)
Wired/Wireless environment - Motorola SBG900 Cable Modem, to which the Windows Desktop is connected either wirelessly or via Ethernet cable
The printer will print documents when connected directly to MacBookPro via USB, but over the network, this is showing:
On MacBookPro: In the printer queue, the message shows, "Waiting for print job to complete..."
On the Windows Desktop: In the printer queue, the size of the document comes up as ...KB/...KB (in my case, 10.7 KB/13.8 KB) - won't change, number of pages "N/A"
On the printer front panel: blinking On/Off button light (blinking slowly, suggesting printer is still busy) - the printer will start to kick into action, but the only thing happening is that blinking light...
... and that's it! From there, there is no more progress (even after 10-20 minutes); you have to cancel the print job on both the MacBookPro and the Windows Desktop.
This is what I have tried already:
Making sure both machines are in the same network (check)
Making sure both are in the same subnet (check)
Deactivating Windows firewall and the firewall in the router/gateway (does not solve issue)
Logging in to Windows Desktop over Finder on the Mac using a user name that is the same on both machines (does not solve issue)
Deleting Keychain Access stored passwords in case they were incorrect (does not solve issue)
Making sure drivers for printer are up-to-date on both MacBookPro and Windows Desktop (check)
Deleting the printer from the MacBookPro and letting the system find it by itself when printer  connected directly via USB (does not solve issue)
I have also tried installing the printer as described in Apple Support article HT3049 (How to manually add a Windows shared printer.) It seems like there are two ways to add a printer, one is by using the "Windows" button in the "Add printer" window toolbar, the other is by using the "Advanced" button. Both did not help.
I exchanged the printer cartridges, since low ink levels apparently can also cause errors when printing in a network (read that somewhere here - but does not solve issue either.)
In order to see if the Windows version has something to do with it, I connected a Windows 7 laptop to the printer and tried to print from the MacBook wirelessly to it (no success there, either).
When printing first when we got the MacBookPro, I think it worked to print over the network, but for whatever reason, things won't budge at the moment. (I guess, it's a driver issue, but the drivers are up-to-date.) I must be doing something wrong, I just don't seem to be able to figure out what, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.

sorry to resurrect this issue, but I have reinstalled all drivers and updated firmware, but cannot connect wirelessly.  The set up is fine, but the bonjour version of the printer only lasts 1 second before going away.  I have had this product for a while and struggled when I first got it with this issue.  Finally i just accepted the fact that I bought a wireless product that needed to be hard wired.  Guess i should have saved some money or bought from a different company.  Now my 2 year old is mulling around and I need to wirelessly connect my printer in a location he cannot reach.
Please help me with this problem or I will be forced to PC Load Letter this printer.

  • With a new iMac i can't print wirelessly to my existing HP or Epson printers.  They currently work thru wireless network with my windows desktop.  Both printers get the same error: printing job not accepted.  They appear ro be recognized by the Mac. Help!

I've looked at many threads and tried suggestions from this site with no success.    Neither printer (HP 1010 and Epson Artisan 810) are Airprint supported.  in checking the printers via the imac in System Preferences the printer 'kind' is listed as Airprint.  I've tried to change with no success.   So yes- I need some experts help and suggestions!

    Hello HappyHips,
It sounds like you are getting this error message when trying to print to a Wi-Fi printer. I want to recommend the troubleshooting in this article named:
Troubleshooting printer issues in OS X
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3147
Make sure that the printer is powered on, has ink / toner, and that there are no alerts on the printer’s control panel. Note: If you cannot clear an alert on the printer's control panel, stop here and check the printer's documentation or contact the manufacturer for support.
Ensure the printer is properly connected to a USB port on the Mac or AirPort base station / Time Capsule. If the printer is a network-capable printer, make sure that it is properly connected to your home network.
Use Software Update to find and install the latest available updates. If an update is installed, see if the issue persists.
Open the Print & Scan pane or Print & Fax (Snow Leopard) pane in System Preferences.
Delete the affected printer, then add the printer again.
If the issue persists, try these additional steps:
Reset the printing system, then add the printer again.
If the issue still persists, reset the printing system again.  Download and install your printer's drivers. Then, add the printer again.
Contact the printer vendor or visit their website for further assistance.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Phototsmart Premium C310 Wireless PC to Printer Issues

I have an odd ball one with a brand new Photosmart Premium C310.  My wireless network consists of a Linksys WRT300N and a Hawking 300N Wireless Range Extender.  All of the devices I have connected to the Linksys or the Extender work fine except for a very occasional disconnection.  A renew of the DHCP Lease always resolves it.  This is on a DSL service by the way.
I purchased this printer to be able to use with a Macbook Pro and an Ipad located downstairs which required the Hawking Extender.
The Photosmart installed fine the first time through on the Mac with no problem.  However, when I printed the first time, the printer immediately could not be seen by the laptop anymore.  The utility it loads could not find it and print jobs would just hang.  I could connect to the printer via the web and print test pages, but I could not print documents or anything from the laptop since it could not find the printer.  I could even go to the printer front panel and every aspect of wireless connection (web, etc) worked fine, so it never disconnects.
The only way to get the printer to be recognized again was to physically power off  the Hawking Extender and then the printer would appear again.  It would again only print once and disappear.  Even if you didn't print and left it just sitting there, it would eventually disappear.
The router is set up for 40 Mhz Wide Channel 9 and Standard Channel 7.  It is using mixed b/g/n.  This is set up on WEP with 128bit encryption.
I tried setting the printer up to operate at B/G and that actually allowed me to print two pages out before disappearing with the same symptoms.  I even bumped it to b only and no difference.  The printer was updated to the latest level to eliminate another potential cause.
I'm confused since the printer itself never loses wireless connection and the Mac doesn't lose it, yet they cannot talk to each other??
What magic settings am I missing??
I tried unplugging the Hawking extender and trying the same scenario through the iPad and it does exactly the same thing, yet the printer stays connected to the router.
    Any ideas????
    Bob

Time for an update.  I finally managed time to go through all of this since it requires changing info on lots of computers.
Network is now 20MHz only.  Channels on wireless repeater and main router are both now set to 11.  WEP removed and WPA2 Personal put in place.
Symptoms are EXACTLY the same.  Even if I don't try and print anything and just let any computer that can see it sit idle, they all lose the printer within a few minutes.  I can successfully print for about 2-3 minutes and then the connection to the printer goes away.  Seems very odd that I can still get to it through the IP address though??
I can still access the IP address for the printer and generate print test pages, such as the network info with no problem, yet I cannot see the printer under normal print functions or the HP Utility.
I can also walk over to the printer, print out a network test page and everything tests great.  I can also go to the web functions.  It just cannot be accessed by any computer.  The only thing that briefly makes it available is unplugging the wireless repeater and then it appears for awhile and then disappears again to the PCs.
Every single other device connected to the main router or wireless repeater works perfectly.  The printer is the only thing that is malfunctioning.
Any ideas?  I'm really tired of trying to get this thing to work!

  • Deskjet 3050 j610a - New router; no longer can print wireless.

Hi all. Am 66 & new to computers and forums. I'll try to be brief, but I want to describe my problem as accurately as possible. I have a Toshiba C655 Satellite laptop, HP3050 j610a wireless printer, Windows 7 – 32bit OS and Google Chrome is my browser. For the past 2 years I've had no problem printing wireless with my Westell 7500 router. Then my ISP (Verizon) gave me a D-Link 2750B. My laptop connects with the internet over my wireless network fine now, but printing is only possible via USB.
The error message reads: “Your printer failed to join the wireless network – Mac address filtering may be enabled on your wireless router”. (I checked & it is not). I then printed a Wireless Network Test Report and the header reads: “Your HP printer cannot find your access point. Check that your access point is powered on. Check that your HP printer network name (SSID) matches your access point network name (SSID) exactly. If they don't match exactly, run the wireless network setup to configure your HP printer”. In addition, under Diagnostics Summary it reads: “Network Name (SSID) Found = FAIL”.
What I've attempted so far: Uninstall & reinstall all HP software (Via hp website), power cycle router & printer, hard reset printer to factory settings, looked inside router & all seems OK. I did a Google search of this problem and got more confusing and complicated explanations than I was looking for...all the way down to subnet masks; whatever that is. I'm at the point now (and please correct me if I'm on the wrong path) I feel I should be trying to manually put the network info into the printer or obtain a printer IP; neither of which I know how to do.  Is there a way to look inside my printer settings the same as I look inside my router settings...and how?
I feel this has gotten way more complicated than necessary and I am probably overlooking the obvious here. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated, but please reply to me as if I were in the 3rd grade ! (Although a 3rd grader would probably have figured this out already) !
    Thanks,
    Larry
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

OK,PrintDoc, I followed your instructions to the letter....although I had gone there many times before.  If you want, I can list each and every step, but to summarize:  Message says, 'software installed successfully", I allowed Network Setup to retrieve my wireless settings (by the way my security is WPA2[AES] ) then the green 'loading' bar for 'setting up printer on network'.
THIS is the where I get to the point at which I get the error message:  "Your printer failed to join the wireless network".  (Tried both letting the program retrieve the settings, as well as entering them manually).
I did, however, notice one thing different this time:  Where the icon of my laptop showed under devices, this time there was an '!' enclosed in a triangle, indicating some problem.  I opened it up and ran the Troubleshooter, and received the following messages:  "Device driver software was not successfully installed, *No driver found, Problem not fixed".  I remember seeing this once before in my numerous attempts to get my printer on the network.
However, a previous message said the software WAS, in fact, installed successfully....and when I took a look at my installed programs, it sure looked like it was.
Once again, a big 'thank you'.

  • Will my HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless work with the new Mac OS Lion

Will my HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless work with the new Mac OS Lion

My experience with upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion is that the OfficeJet Pro 8500 Wireless will print just fine, although it seems to take a little longer to find the printer on the network. My scan function however locks up and will not work. This really is an annoyance, though, since I have VueScan, which works fine with Lion.
Hopefully, Apple and HP will not orphan the OS native scanning feature for HP multifunction printers.

  • Is the new imac compatible with the dell v313w printer for wireless connection?

Is the new iMac compatible via wireless connection with the Dell V313W printer?

    Hi Sara!
I got an email refering me to your post.  Ok, www.MacMall.com is a US website that sells Apple products.  I bought my iMac&printer through their website and worked with their customer service department to get my iMac communicating with the Dell V313W printer.  They have people that will take calls any time-any day at phone number 1-800-622-6255.  The other option since you are in France would be to contact a local Apple dealer...or see if they have an authorized dealer in Europe that could help.  I purchased the Apple Care Support contract with the iMac but they were unable to help since they weren't familiar with the Dell printer.
As I mentioned in my previous post the things we tried were: 1) If I remember right... I downloaded the Dell V313W printer driver from the Dell website then connected the iMac to the printer via the USB cable and established communication. I then disconnected the cable and 2) I moved the iMac and printer closer to my wireless router then 3) I turned on "Printer Sharing" on the iMac - I think this is a critical step...to do this go to System Preferences > Hardware > Print&Scan.  In the window that opens make sure the box is checked that says "Share this printer on the network" then go to the "Sharing Preferences..." box and check the "Printer Sharing" and "Scanner Sharing" boxes in the window that opens.  When I did all this the iMac went through it's routine to find the printer and the connection was finally established!
One more thing, make sure if your wireless router is locked for security that you enter the correct password when prompted...this might have been one of my problems also!
    Hope this helps.
    All the best,
    mw
