New camera problems

I somehow managed to tell my new camera that I didn't want any red to appear in the pictures I was shooting. When I import the pics into Photoshop, the red channel looks fine, but it displays as grey. Is there anything I can do to restore the red channel to red, other than re-shoot and throw a days work away?

I think I know the problem if you want the red channel to show as Red then go to the preferences and go to Interface and check to show channels in Color.

New camera, problems with capture setting

Hi-
I just got a new Canon Vixia HD30. I'm using FCP 5.1.3, and I can't find the correct settings for capture. I've tried a variety of mix and match between the camera settings (HDV, HDV30, HDV24, etc.) and the available settings on FCP (HDV, HDV 1080i60, etc.) but I'm not getting full functionality. It is recognizing the camera when I go to Log and Capture and I can capture clips when the FCP setting is HDV, but there are two problems:
1. (most significant) The captured clips need rendering when I put them in the timeline.
2. The captured clips, when opened as clips, are not synched with the audio. (I've had this issue before with a previous camera, many years ago, but can't seem to solve it this time.)

Did you ever solve this problem? I've run into the same issues: having to render clips captured from a new Canon Vixia HV30 when I put them in my timeline. A considerable waste of time. I just wonder if you ever figured it out.

A new camera problem!

So here is my problem...
My isight camera is not being recognized, it says there is no camera connected to my computer when trying to use photo booth, skype, and ichat.

Not quite. Read on!
I have already unplugged my computer and all usb/firewire devices for the recommended time (and more... I left it unplugged for a whole night!) No change.
I have reset the pram by holding down cmdopt+pr on start up, clearly hearing the second chime to indicate that this was done. No change.
I have backed up all my files and erased my entire internal HD, installed Leopard fresh from the DVD and installed all the updates through software update. No change.
I have started up my computer with only my keyboard and mouse plugged in for external usb devices, and even tried other mice/keyboard combinations. No change.
Now what?
I checked through system profiler and the only usb device that I think is my isight camera is as follows.... http://Auryn4.googlepages.com/Picture1.png (please look at the url)
It looks right, but I cannot be certain. I'm out of ideas and I don't want to give up my only computer currently (that I use heavily for university) because my camera isn't working, I have actually gone out and purchased a cheap webcam for a temp fix for now (as I use it to network for university and socially).
Please... ANY suggestions and ideas would be usual at this point!

For any iSight problems, the first things to try are relevant suggestions from:

Dave Stowe has already wisely suggested that, and you now seem to have tried most of those ideas.
Built-in iSight should show in System Profiler something like (not necessarily exactly) that shown in this image:
If not, after trying all relevant troubleshooting suggestions, contact your retailer or Apple Service Provider for service.
If you cannot be without your Mac, your use of an external webcam is the best and most creative work-around. Kudos on taking the pragmatic approach!

New camera problems with cs6

I have upgraded from a Canon 60D to a full frame 6D When I am in LR and want to bounce over to CS6 using my lightroom adjustments I click the EDIT IN option from the drop down menu in LR and choose CS6... ps will load but the work area is blank. Now if I use a image from my files that came from my 60 D this dosent happen at all.The 60D images load right into PS to be further edited. This makes no sense to me and I hope it makes sense to someone else.

What version of camera raw do you have for PS? You should have at least 7.3 for the 6D.

Problems downloading photos from new camera into i photo macbook pro os ver 10.6.8, new camera Olympus VR340, iphoto version 9.2.3 -- any thoughts?

Have a "vintage macbook pro running snow leopard os vers. 10.6.8. Just bought a new camera -- Olympus VR 340. Yesterday the photos downloaded into iphoto with no problerms. Today they won't -- in fact -- iphoto just has the turning wheel and won't function (version 9.2.8). Any thoughs about what the problem is and how to get it to work again? Never had problems with iphoto before -- with multiple cameras.

Quit iPhoto, then go to Users / your home folder / Library / Preferences.
In that folder you will find two files named com.apple.iPhoto.LSSharedFileList.plist and com.apple.iPhoto.plist
trash both files, then restart iPhoto.
Next go to iPhoto/Preferences and make sure you have selected Connecting Camera Opens: iPhoto

Photoshop CS4 does not recognize raw photos taken with newer cameras. Anyone else have this problem?

Photoshop CS4 will not recognize RAW2 photos taken with my new Panasonic Lumix FZ100 camera. This camera is listed in Adobe's 6.2 Camera Raw update for Photoshop CS5 but cannot be loaded in CS4. I paid a lot of money for CS4 and don't want to buy CS5 just because I bought a new camera, but it appears that Adobe no longer updates Camera Raw for CS4 or with newer cameras. When I called the Help Desk to find out if there was some kind of patch I could get to make CS4 compatible with my new camera a gentleman in New Delhi informed me that he couldn't even answer my question until I paid $40 since answering questions about CS4 was a "paid service." I hung up in a rage. Does anyone else have this problem and is there a solution?

Adobe does indeed not update obsolete versions of Camera Raw for new camera types.
And guess what: It’s the camera producers who seem to like to change their raws – so how about spreading some of your indignation their way?
I paid a lot of money for CS4 and don't want to buy CS5 just because I bought a new camera
The upgrade is cheaper than buying the full version.
Anyway, you could try the free DNG Converter which should be able to handle everything the most recent version of Camera Raw can handle.

My 808 got so many problem..the camera did not working well and the screen has problem..
The camera problem when recording the video, i used to use touch to focus, but the when listen to the video the weird sound was produced while i focused on something..the screen has problem when looked at the dark pictures especially on grey colour...it was not the noises but it the screen problem..
Please Nokia i need new replacement..i just used this phone, and dissapointed with this..

Have you installed any third party applications to account for the sound of the continuous auto focus (CAF) mechanism?
You probably need to visit Nokia Care facility so that device can be reset to "factory settings" and completely re-install device software, before pointing towards hardware issue with camera module itself.

D3300 needs at least LR 5.4, the latest version is now 5.7. Its a free update.

What OS do you have? You say you have explained what you had (computer/opsys) but I honestly don't see it here. If you had mentioned that my advice would have been different; I believe you can only upgrade as far as Camera Raw 8.3 on an older Windows system. There is more information here (look specifically for the "Revert to 8.3 ..." titles).

What you've done/written in your last post confuses things further, unfortunately. Photoshop 13.1 is strictly a Creative Cloud version. The highest you can go is Photoshop CS6 13.0.1.3 with perpetual license.
And as far as I can recall, that version can work on Windows back to XP:

I don't think you're out of luck, but you seem to be leaping into doing things without having the full story, and are jumping to conclusions a bit too quickly.
Here's what I suggest you try:
1. Remove Photoshop entirely with the Creative Suite Removal Tool:
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
2. Install Photoshop CS6 from your original media or from here:
Download CS6 products
3. Update the application using its own Help - Updates process. That really should get you the latest Camera Raw version that will work. If that does not bring you a Camera Raw that works with your Nikon, use the "Revert to 8.3" instructions above.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness shows up, the first thing to try is a proper reboot:
With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
Wait an additional 15 minutes, but DO NOTHING with your device...just let it sit and "settle". Then, after 15 minutes, try only the camera to see of you still get this error. If not, then continue to run normally, but watch closely to see if you can determine how long it takes before the error appears. It may simply be that you need to reboot regularly to clear up memory leaks and such.
But, if the error immediately presented after the 15 minutes, then I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:

It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, see what happens. Again, let the device "settle" for at least 15 minutes and DO NOTHING with it.
If the behavior ceases, then think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was. Also, the quantity of 3rd party and/or add-on apps you have installed may simply be too much for your device capacity. You will need to decide what has a higher priority for you...the camera, or some of those added apps.
But if the behavior continues in Safe Mode, then you may need to consider more drastic actions -- WIPE, OS Reload, BBSAK Wipe/Reload, and the "Bare Bones" OS Reload Process. To prepare, you should be sure that you have a full backup to your PC...please review the Backup link in my auto-sig on this post for instructions.

Front camera Problem?Can I replace it?

I have itouch 5 version 6.1.3(10B329) that have some front camera problem.If i switch rear camera to front camera it never open.Every time it stuck the shuter.I did all the solution like reset,backups,restore.But it doesnt give me any response.So if i take my ipod touch to apple service center ,Can they replace and give me new ipod?My ipod warranty is up to Jan,2014.

First try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem. If the iPod is defective and not abused Apple will exchange it at no cost.

IPhoto doesn't find movies on new camera

Hi there,
have just bought a new camera (Canon Powershot SX20). iPhoto doesn't recognise that there are movies on it, so won't download them. Have tried image capture and same issue. No problem with image files though.
Camera takes HD movies so wondered if my slightly antiquated software doesn't know what these are.
My old camera used to show on the desktop so I could quite easily drag/drop files from the camera to a file on the computer. New camera doesn't show. Is there a way to change this?

Sorry, maybe didn't make myself clear. Its a stills camera which has the usual facility to do short movie clips (in HD). When I use my other camera iPhoto will just download the photos and movies from the camera in one go and will show photos and movie clips in the library.
Would like to be able to do the same with new camera.
However, I can't seem to get anything on the computer to recognise that there are movies on the camera. iMovie doesn't recognise that the camera is attached (presumably because its not a camcorder?). image capture will quite happily let me download the photos but also doesn't see the movies on the camera.
Other ideas? Just give up and buy a card reader?
BTW - very useful "feature" for it to not show on the desktop!!

I've found a new way .. I restart the phone manually. And it works. But sometimes , the Problem reappears and sometimes it doesn't . But when it does , its just too annoying. Therefore, restarting the phone manually is a temporary solution. But what's the permanent solution for it? Let's wait and hope that someone comes up with one.
And I hope this restarting hint solves your problem too.
P.S- instagram or any other app won't make a difference. That's what i think .. Cz I don't have that app on my iPhone.

RAW support new camera's - Fujifilm X-Pro1

As an experienced photographer, I've chosen Aperture over Lightroom. Reason was that I hoped for a better support of new camera's & features in the Mac-world (I don't like Adobe so much). To me, it looks to be an opportunity for Apple to beat Adobe in the support of the ever-changing market of camera's and that such a core-competence could easily appeal to a lot of new potential Aperture-users. Unfortunately, it feels to me like Apple is even conducting an even slower update policy than Adobe. Where is the in depth support for the RAW-formats of all those new camera's launched in the first half of 2012, including my own X-Pro1, a shining beauty that I still cannot bring to full exploit due to the problems I experience now with Aperture?

There are many takes on this:
1. We ourselves are far too much driven to chase the cutting edge and also to a certain degree: to accept the shortcomings and quirks because we want to show up with the new model. Experience what noone has ever experienced before. Camera manufacturers know this very well. But in a certain way with photography, with bad software support, it's like you get a car with no wheels. You can put very tiny 'jpg-wheels' on it, but...?
2. About the cutting edge: if you buy a camera now it is only fully there in reliable manner after firmware updates. Even the coffee-machine works like this now. But to my feeling, there's something else: zillions of features, all things we don't need, too much 'nice to have' even in professional stuff. Who ever asks for all these silly developments? I'm pretty sure this is one of the reason that indeed the subsequent Adobe/Apple support is so slow. When I read in forums the comments on my own camera, I can tell you that some people are really not seeing the point this is a camera, not a Playstation. I even don't want an Auto-iso setting, what's the use of such automation? Let the camera decide how much quality to lose out of any other option?
3. Standardisation in this area could be a lot better. Why no RAW ISO-standard? Allow only gradual, well considered changes would probably speed up support. In theory is it, but of course be oposite to the 'cutting edge' - certainly in sensor design. Nevertheless, now every manufacturer can do what he want when it comes to RAW. By the way, under which definition falls RAW? Why is there than compression?
4, DNG could have been a solution, but it isn't. Since it appears to be merely a container. It also never really made it 'in the big market' except for Leica.
As a consumer, we can only pray for the next firmware update, the next Aperture & Lightroom update, and hope those big ones read every line we put in a forum like this...
