New camera raw extentions

Where can I get a new camera raw cr2 extention for elements 10?
I have a new canon power shot s100 so elements is not importing the raw files to the organizer

The only firewall is yours, but the update server is probably undergoing maintenance.
Here's the link for the latest available ACR, so you can install it manually:

  • New Camera RAW in Photoshop CC 2014 won't open multiple Panasonic RAW (.rw2) at the same time from Windows Explorer.

New Camera RAW in Photoshop CC 2014 won't open multiple Panasonic RAW (.rw2) at the same time from Windows Explorer.  If I select 2 raw files and click "Open" Camera RAW will only open 1 raw, then when I click "Done" it will close and open the second, sequentially.  Previous Photoshop CC and RAW worked fine, it would open mulitple RAW at the same time.  How do I fix this?

If it worked for you that way previously there isn't much to comment about. I just tried opening multiple images from Windows Explorer with Photoshop CS6 and Camera Raw 8.6, and the first image would open and when I clicked cancel then the second image would open. But if I wanted multiple images opened in Camera Raw to work on them simultaneously it was necessary for me to open them from Bridge. I just did it as an experiment because I normally use Lightroom. Anyway, IF it was a feature at one time to work as you described, it doesn't seem to be that way now.

  • How to get the new camera raw 7.2 update?

most of our company computers are offline.
so how do we get the new camera raw 7.2 update?
until now they were always released as manual downloads.... now i have to read this from adobes blog:
Camera Raw 7.2 – Please use the update mechanism in Photoshop CS6
    http://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/
does that mean there will be no manual update anymore or is it not up yet?

Thanks for the link, Anthony, and yes, I have already seen that.  But I don't need the description or justification to know that it represents a step backward in image quality.  Admittedly a small one, but a step nonetheless.
Let me be direct:  The color-fringing that occurs on edges that concerns me is not addressed by the new implementation.  Specifically, the colored remnants from de-Bayering (what some call de-mosaicing) are what bother me.
My point is that the old simple Defringe setting, set to All Edges, worked very nicely to fight this common aberration.  There's a thread around here somewhere in which I visually demonstrated the differences.
    Here are the important points:
The new Defringe feature, even thyough it has more controls, simply CANNOT be configured to remove those same de-Bayering colored remnants as effectively as the old, simple Defringe: All Edges setting did.  Thus the new implementation is not a superset of the functionality of the old.
When one tries to configure the new implementation to reduce de-Bayering color remnants - even with minimal settings - the negative side effects of the new method are much greater and more visible, making it unacceptable to be made a default setting.
It's worth pointing out that the old Defringe feature isn't available even under the PV2010 setting. The way the new Defringe feature was implemented represents a departure from Adobe's philosophy of maintaining compatibility with old settings.
It shouldn't have been strictly necessary to remove the old Defringe feature as it was implemented to add the new implementation, which addresses an entirely different (though nearby) set of aberrations.  If necessary to avoid confusion or coding difficulties  it COULD have been renamed, though internally it could still work the same.  Or it could have been made an either/or setting.  Personally I think it would be nicest to be able to combine the two - old and new Defringe features - as needed.
As it is, for the above reasons - and the fact that the newest versions run slower - I've dropped back to using Camera Raw 7.0, which is an acceptable workaround for me for now as I still use a camera that version understands.  But of course that's not a viable long-term strategy.  If Adobe doesn't see fit to restore this feature I've only put off the inevitable image quality degradation until Camera Raw 8 and Photoshop CS7.

  • Reading new camera raw files

Waiting until a camera manufacturer supplies you with a new camera and then waiting until you add the code to LR messes everyone up. Why can't you have LR read new camera raw files if the file format is the same as a similar camera as a generic conversion. Then when you do the thing right and add the proper conversion code, then use that conversion.

Because just because a company like Canon or Nikon doesn't change the file
extension doesn't mean the raw files from one camera to another are anywhere
close to being the same. Think about. Raw files is the raw data from the
cameras sensor. This changes from one camera to another. There is no generic
raw data each camera generates something different and that needs to be
taken in to account so that ACR and all other raw processing programs can
handle the data correctly. Otherwise you picture of cousin Lurch could come
    out purple with yellow polka-dots.
If you want a generic format tell the camera makers to use DNG. That is
about as generic as you are going to get.

  • Why can I not use LR4 with my new camera raw format?

My new camera raw format is unrecognizable with LR4. Anyway around this?

Yes use the Adobe DNG converter to convert the proprietary raw files to DNG raw files. Then LR4 will be able to read them.
    The Adobe converter is free.

  • Overexposed image saved in new Camera Raw 7

I took an image (Camera raw format)  that was shot of a colorful tree last year, but overexposed; the sky was white. I edited it with camera raw in Photoshop CS5  and, then, cleared the settings in the Bridge and did it with Photoshop CS6 and camera raw 7. The difference was unbelievable. A few minutes in the new Camera Raw 7 and it was workable. I never got the image even satisfactory at all in Photoshop CS5 Camera Raw. This version of camera raw  really works well with over-exposed images.

Hello! you are opening an image that had a been edited under a previous process. Go to the Camera Calibration Tab, and set it to 2012 process.

  • Save new camera raw defaults for already opened smart objects.

I've a question about Photoshop and Smart Objects, as I like to use Smart Filters. I open my raw photos in Camera Raw, I adjust them and then continue editing in Photoshop as smart objects.
My problem is that if during editing in Photoshop I adjust again some parameters reopening the photo in Camera Raw, there's no way I can save the new adjustments for the next time I want to open the raw again.
I happened to me I changed a lot of parameters and I wanted to have them as defaults for that photo.
Quite simply: if I I want to save new Camera Raw edits as defaults for that photo, how can I do?
P.S. I tried saving a new snapshot, but they disappear if I open the raw again.

Thanks for your answer. Actually inserting the photo as a linked object does what I want, but it's awkward, slow and not so immediate. Also I have to open the photo from the beginning like that, as a new layer.
There should be an option inside camera raw like "update original with new settings".

  • Where  do I place the new camera raw plug in

Hello friends I just updated the new camera raw plun in for Photo Shop CS2
I also have received teh DNG where do I place the plugs in I just down loaded
    Michael

The DNG Converter is NOT a plug-in. It's a stand-alone application, and you can put it wherever you want: in the applications folder, on your desktop etc.
Make sure you download version 4.2 of the DNG Converter.
As for the ACR plug-in, you need version 3.7. Later versions of ACR DO NOT work with CS2.
You put it exactly where the obsolete ACR plug-in is installed by default when you first install Photoshop.
Exactly where depends on your platform, Macintosh or Windows. There are very precise instructions on the page where you download the updates. Read them.

  • New Camera RAW Tutorial Series

John Nack has just blogged about a new Camera RAW tutorial series by George Jardine.
    http://blogs.adobe.com/jnack/2013/12/25-new-video-tutorials-on-camera-raw.html
It cost $30 which does not sound much, but I'd love to hear feedback from anyone who has seen it.
You can read more details at
    http://mulita.com/blog/?page_id=6934
Including a link to a 17 minute free chapter.

    Thank you, Trevor.
I've been waiting and hoping that George would do a series on the latest Camera Raw to match his tutorials on Lightroom, which he always does first.
I purchased his series on ACR 6 and they were excellent, so I have every faith that his new series on ACR 8.3 in CC (which also covers ACR 8.3 and ACR 7.x in CS6) will be just as good.
So far I have watched the first 6 tutorials (ending with the one on the Basic Tab) and they are pretty good.
One of the bonuses is that along the way he gives you links to further in-depth totorials on his Website regarding particular topics: eg, the interaction of, and different ways of manipulating, the Highlights/Shadows and Whites/Blacks sliders for particular types of images. Looking forward to viewing those.

  • PS CS5 64 bit, just bought a new Canon 70D I need a new camera raw

OK, I'm really confused, I have PS CS5 64 bit, just bought a new Canon 70D I need a new camera raw for this camera, I thought 8.2 was available for CS5 apparently not. Help!

Adobe only updates its current versions of products with new camera support. PS-CS6 and PS-CC were the current versions of Photoshop when the 70D came out so only those two versions of Photoshop will receive the new updated camera raw plug-in.
You can always used the DNG Converter 8.2 (currently available in pre-release status at Adobe Labs) to convert newer camera raw files to work with obsolete versions of the camera raw plug-in, paying special attention to the DNGC compatibility options to may sure you have them set old enough for your CS5-vintage plug-in.

  • New Camera RAW to DNG but DNG not recognised

I recently purchased a Sony Cybershot RX100M3. The RAW files are Sony's ARW2. I have Photoshop CS4 and Bridge. Naturally they won't recognise the new RAW files. I converted then to DNG using Adobe DNG converter. However CS4 and Bridge would not recognise the resulting DNG. I thought all DNG files were the same. Am I wrong? Has any body ideas how to solve the problem short of upgrading?

When you convert the files to dng using the dng converter, set the Compatibility to Camera Raw 5.4 and later

  • Will you be putting out a new camera raw or update that will support the Canon 7D Mark II?

I have recently purchased a Canon 7D Mark II and do not have camera raw to support it.  Will you be developing this soon???

The camera-raw supported applications list is somewhat misleading and not updated for ACR 8.7, obviously.
The misleading part is that PS-CS6/CC/CC-2014 all can be updated to ACR 8.7, even though the list lists ACR 8.3 for CC and CS6.  The reason for the lower version for CC and CS6 is that both those have lower OS-version requirements (Vista/OSX 10.6) than ACR 8.7, and ACR 8.3 was the last version of ACR to work with the same lower version compatibility.
If you have PS-CS6 or newer and Win7 or OSX 10.7 or newer then you can update your camera raw plug-in to ACR 8.7, but if your OS is older or your version of PS is older then you can’t.
