New Cartridges printing very light

Have a HP Photosmart Premium all in one C410 series.  I put in new cartridges (not including photo only) and when the document print, it's so light you can hardly see anything on the page.  Re-stalled the old cartridges and the same thing happens.  Prior to putting in the new ones, it at least was printing some color but very very light.

The document here may help resolve light printing on your Photosmart c310a.  If this does not resolve the issue the post here may help.

  • Page is printing very light

Just installed my  C309 printer.  Photo pages printed beautifully.  But I can't get a simply Word document to print.  The first copy came out VERY light with most lines missing.  The second was nearly blank.  The third completely blank.  But nothing on my screen or printer is saying that I'm out of black ink....  Help?

    Hey WSLNYC,
It sounds like the printer is having a print quality issue, most likely surrounding the printhead, that is causing the printer to not produce the desired printouts.  Have you tried running the Clean Printhead utility found in the setup menu of the printer?  I would advise running 3 levels of this utility to ensure you are getting the optimal print quality from you Photosmart 5510.
Make sure that plain white U.S. letter or A4 size paper is loaded in the tray.
From the control panel home screen, touch the Right Arrow ( ), and then touch the Setup icon ( ).
Touch Tools , and then touch Clean Printhead . The product cleans the printheads, and then prints a test page.
Review the print quality on the test page.
I would also take a look at the additional steps for troubleshooting a print quality issue found here.  Let me know how it goes.

  • DJ D4260 prints very light grey instead of black(WinXP).

Cartridges are set correctly set color/black. Color prints fine.  I've tried turning off greyscale.  When printing test page, color is fine but nothing black will print (or it's so light grey I can't see).

    Hello,
Have you able to print sucessful pages in black before?  Is this a new black cartridge?  I might recommend removing the black cartridge to ensure the all of the protective tape has been removed.  Once confirmed, I've attached a link below that may assist in getting this resolved.  Good Luck!.........

  • Adobe Reader 9 Colors in PDF print very light

    Hello,
I am having an annoying problem with Adobe Reader 9. I have been printing PDFs from it, but the trouble is that the color accuracy is poor.
The colors on the printed page are much lighter than they should be. I have printed the same PDF from a different version of Adobe Reader, namely version 6. The printed colors are exactly as they should be.
This problem is not related to the different ICC color profiles used by the monitor and the printer since using an older version of Adobe Reader doesnt cause this problem. I have tried setting options such as Let printer determine colors, Print as Image and Discolored background correction. These options have reduced the problem but have made little difference. The difference in color is still very noticeable.
I have also tried printing out some color samples namely Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black blocks of color to test if any are at fault. The yellow comes out as green. This must be where the problem lies. All the other color samples are fine.
Are there any suggestions you could offer to fix or significantly reduce the difference in color? Using the very old Adobe Reader 6.0 is far from ideal.
    Thanks in advance.
    Jim Collins

We have a similar issue with Adobe Acrobat Reader 8.x ver. The PDF onscreen colors are totally different than the hard copy. We have tried printing on different models of color printers and there is no issue with the printer drivers. The PDF files are generated from Primavera (P6) application.
    Any Suggestions?
    Thanx.

  • Laser jet 6 L toner print very light output

I changed my toner with genuine HP toner but did not use it for a while. Now that I try to print, I can barely see the letters on the page. I took out the toner, shake it and rotate it several time, the print out get a little darker but still looked faded.
What do I have to do to correct this? I think I've printed less than 50 pages with this new toner. Did it dried out? Please help. Thank you.

  • Mac 10.6.8 is printing very light and washed out, however, the color prints fine from Safari and my husbands PC, help!

My Mac 10.6.8 has always printed great from Firefox to my Canon printer, but now the black and color is all washed out. I can print same page from Safari or my husbands PC and the page is great! What is going on! ?

    Other things to try:
Examine your specific version of Optima by going to Type menu > Find Font, clicking on the Optima font and choosing More Info (I think) and find the specific version number. See if you can uninstall the font and reinstall another Optima font with a different, preferably newer version number. There has (historically) been a bad version of Optima floating around for years. Maybe you have it.
Use a free utility like FontNuke or FontFinagler to get your Mac OS to reset its font plists. Sometimes that makes the OS feel better.
Use the built-in Disk Utility to repair file permissions. You never know.
Export your old document out to IDML and reopen that resulting idml file back into a new freshly written INDD file. This might remove internal database corruptions.
All these are chicken-soup things to try and they might be good for you.

  • New cartridge of Black ink not printing and new cartridges of colored inks very light

Just installed all new cartridges and ran an alignment page.  The colors are very light and no black ink printed at all.  Before installing the new ink the printer would not actually print anything even though the status showed the document as "printing".  The color ink lights had been blinking so I changed all three of them, still could not get the printer to print anything. I unplugged the printer and my computer and after booting everything back up a Word document would only produce a blank page so I thought the black ink needed to be replaced as well.  After installing everything I ran the alignment page which shows very light colors and no black. What should I do next?  The cartidges are authentic HP 920 XL Black, 920 Cyan, 920 Magenta, and 920 Yellow bought in a Combo-pack from Staples.

The troubleshooting steps in the document here may help resolve black not printing on your Officejet 6000 printer.  Do the steps in order.  Before considering Solution 8 - Replace the Printhead you might try soaking the printhead as described in the post here.

  • New ink cartridges in Deskjet 5525 but black won't print or prints in light gray

I installed new ink cartridges. Black prints as very light grey or not at all in some instances

    Hi @rhare
I see you are having troubles with your black ink.
Please complete all of the steps in the following document; Printer Does Not Print Black Ink or Color Ink, or Prints Blank Pages Although I hope this resolves the issue, it might not. As you have a 5525, If the issue persists, I would suggest calling HP Phone Support, even if your printer is out of warranty, as you may require a replacement printer.
The number to call HP is 1-800-474-6836 for Canada and US, or you can Contact HP Worldwide.
Please let me know if the document resolves the issue, or if you called HP and the outcome of the call. Thanks.

  • HP Photosmart C6180 All-in-One won't print magenta or light magenta, even with new cartridges

The printer suddenly stopped printing magenta and light magenta.  I installed new cartridges from LD, which have always worked in the past, but none worked.  No error messages.

Hi there @Optical32  and welcome to the forums
I read about how your Photosmart C6180 is no longer printing in light magenta and magenta, with no error messages. I'd like to offer my suggestion for you that may help.
Click this link and try these steps: Color Mix or Missing Colors on the Diagnostic Page
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you, such as a replacement or trade in. • Will not print black. ink cartridge is new. also shows low black level with new cartridge.

HP Photosmart C6180  all-in-one.  Will not print Black.  Also shows low black ink on ink level.  Cartridge is new and HP brand.
In printing colors, very light and has RED hue as there is no black.  Also two other cartridges show low ink when all the cartridges have been replaced.

    Hi there,
Download and run the print and scan doctor located here (amoung resolving some things automatically it can give us a better idea of what is going on with the printer). Give the steps outlined a shot and let us know the results.

  • Very light print with LaserJet Pro CM1415

    Core issue: Almost invisible printing
    Product: LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw
OS: Windows 8.1 64-bit (same issue with Windows 7 and Windows Vista Ultimate - all 64-bit)
Replaced all 4 cartridges with brand hew HP cartridges even though old HP ones were not depleated.
Updated all drivers and printer firmware to most current versions.
Ran all HP diagnostics and troubleshooting including cleaning (twice).
Tried adjusting print desity to darker -- no effect at all.
Total pages printed since it was new - 2222
Even tried printing black only with no effect.
Supply status shows all cartidges registered and 100% full.
I read the other forum messages on the same printer and subject and it appears that the problem is very common, and I never was able to find a solution that worked.
This appears to be a problem with the printer itself -- possibly some sort of internal defect. Amusing that it seems to have happened about coincidental with expiration of warranty.
    Is there a solution?

    Hi @TereP,
I see that you are having issues with the print being very light. You already replaced the toners with Genuine HP Toners and still have the same results.  I would really like to be able to help you resolve this issue today.
It may be a issue with the fuser or another hardware issue causing this.
I have provided some steps to see if we can determine what the issue is.
Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (don't use a power hub or a surge protector) This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
Run a cleaning and calibrate the printer:
On the printer touch the Setup icon, System Setup, Print Quality menu, and select the Color Calibration item.
    Select the Calibrate Now option.
Then go to the Setup icon, Service Menu, Cleaning Page.
Print a Diagnostics Page to see if it is a hardware or software issue.
Go to Setup, Reports, Diagnostics Page.
Here is a picture of the Diagnostics Page.
Let me know if there are any issues with the colors printed, the alignment of the L's at the bottom corners of the page and if there are any smudges or blots on the page.
Print the Print Quality Page, it will help determine which toners are causing this issue.
    1. On the product control panel, open the Reports menu.
    2. Select the Print Quality Page item to print it.
    ● If dots or streaks appear in only one of the groups, replace the print cartridge that correlates with
    that group.
    ● If dots appear in more than one group, print a cleaning page. If this does not solve the problem,
determine if the dots are always the same color; for example, if magenta dots appear in all five
color bands. If the dots are all the same color, replace that print cartridge.
I have provided a document to go through the steps to see if this will help resolve this issue.
    Resolving Print Quality Issues.
The diagnostics and the print quality page will help with determining this issue.
Let me know the results please. You may include a screen shot if you like. Visual is always better for determining the issue.
How is the printer connected? (USB/Ethernet/Wireless)

  • HP photo B210a not printing black ink with a new cartridge installed

The color cartridges print when I clean the heads, etc. but the black cartridge will not print.  It did fine, it ran out of ink, so, I replaced the cartridge with new ink, the same HP ink I always use.  I thought it was the cartridge, do, I bought another one, and it too did not print. After several times cleaning, aligning, removing and reinserting, to no avail did it print black.  What gives?  What do I need to do to correct this situation. It is an HP all-in-one inkjet printer, B210a.  It is only 1.5 years old and not used that much.
    Thanks,
    Bonnie

What can i do to get this new cartridge to work.  Very frustrating
