New cheaper Iphone with more technology than the old Iphone?

Hello,
I've owned an Iphone since December, and I'm in love with it! There are a few things I've been waiting to have updated, such as, faster internet service and being able to receive multi-media messages. Now I see that there is a new Iphone being released for only $199 when I paid $499 for my 8G. My question is, does this phone that is so much cheaper compare to the old Iphone? And if it's coming with all of the features as the old Iphone, will the upgrade that is being released give the same exact features as the 3G?
Thank you!

The lower cost of the new iPhone is only happening because AT&T (and other carriers around the world) are subsidizing it, and in the process increasing monthly charges to recover the subsidy. In effect over the 2 year contract with AT&T for example, you'll pay marginally more for the new iPhone than you did for the old one!
Basically, the two models are the same. The new one has 3G capabilities, but 3G coverage in the US is very spotty at present and not increasing particularly fast, so a large proportion of people won't be able to take advantage of it. The new iPhone also has GPS capabilities which the original did not, and has somewhat better battery life. Otherwise, just about all the other improvements are in firmware, and the same firmware will be available to download and upgrade existing iPhones early in July.
If you don't need GPS and don't live in a major city where 3G coverage exists, you should be happy with your existing iPhone since not only will you be able to get the new firmware next month to add a lot of new features, but you'll also be paying less each month to use it - your data plan at present is $20 including 200 texts, while the new iPhone will be $30 for data with texting costs on top of that as well.

Plug your phone into the wall charger for at least 30 minutes...make sure you have a sim card in the phone...then:
Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, iTunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new.
Make sure you have no anti-virus software running or any firewalls...turn all of that stuff off.

  • Will the white iPhone 4S be thicker than the black iPhone 4S?

As everyone knows, the white iPhone 4 is 0.2 mm thicker than the black iPhone 4. So my question is, will this be the same with the 4S? I asked apple employees on the website chat and they not only said that the white iPhone 4S will not be thicker but they also denied that the white iPhone 4 is thicker - when it is a fact that it is. A ruler will prove this.
    Does anyone know?
    Thanks

Everyone may know that. It doesn't change the fact that it is false. http://content.usatoday.com/communities/technologylive/post/2011/05/consumer-rep orts-white-iphone-same-thickness-as-black-one/1

  • Does the white iPhone have any difference than the black iPhone?, Does the white iPhone have any difference than the black iPhone?

Does the white iPhone4 have any differences than the black iPhone4?

It is the sensor that detects that you are on a call with the iPhone next to your face and it disables the screen so you don't inadvertently press any controls.
    It has not been redesigned.

  • How can I tell the differences between the new MacBook Pro with retina display and the old MacBook Pro with retina display by looking

I'm just wondering the differences between the new MacBook Pro with retina display which was just released in October 2013 and the old MacBook Pro with retina display.

Thank you for the reply! As you said they looked exactly the same, so I'm not able to tell the differences just by looking, right? I'm thinking to buy a new 13-inch MacBook Pro with retina display, but I'm not buying the MacBook in Apple Store, I'm buying it in other shops, how can know whether they are not selling me the old model of MacBook Pro with retina display?

  • Burning my DVD with more gigs than the disc

I am going to be burning my new movie shortly. It is approximately 13 GB. The DVDs I have show "4.7 GB" on the box, so I am assuming I can't put my entire movie on one disc.
Do they make discs larger than this so that I can put the whole movie on one?
    1) If no, can I put the movie on several discs?
    2) If yes, is that preferable to #2?
    3) About how long will it take to burn this movie?
    Thank you for your help!

iDVD cares for length, not size of a project...
as you found out, a project can contain 50,60,70 gigs of video (=imports), but as long as it is under 120min (the project/timeline, not the imports), it will fit onto a single-layer dvd-r of 4.7 GB ...
that is the marvel of converting, using different codecs.
iM uses 'dv' which is a editable codec, e.g. storing every frame (30frames/sec) of a video.. mp2 compresses much more, meant for playback only, e.g. it stores just the 'differences' from one frame to another.. wiki, if you're interested in this topic...
How can I tell how big just what I have on the timeline is?
there's no need for this info, when using iLife.. therefor, there's no 'button' to hit to tell you..
if you're just curious, you could export your project as 'Quicktime/Full Quality' ... it will result in files, 13GB/h ...due to using the same, identical codec as your camcorder... so, using a calculator is probably easier... ;))
    final word about exporting:
    no need doing so.
as long as your project resides in the 'Movies' folder, which came preinstalled on your Mac, iDVD will find it there and offers it in its window under 'Media' ...

  • Is there any syscall with more accurate than the ddi_get_lbolt() in the kernel?

Hi, I used with the ddi_get_lbolt() to evaluate the performance
of my some section code of driver in the kernel, but the return
tick of ddi_get_lbolt() is the 10 milliseconds too long to
evaluate. It seemed no change when I used with the drv_usectohz()
or drv_hztousec() to reduce the time interval. Would you give me
    methods to accurately evaluate.
    Thanks in advance.

    hi,
I tested this code with 10 thousands lines. The performance of this code is very bad. Actually, as per your question, I just think out this code which is the same with SUMIF function in excel. Having another way is using grouping and merge table as below
    and this is faster then.
    let
        Source = Excel.CurrentWorkbook(){[Name="Table1"]}[Content],
        Group = Table.Group(Source, {"Date"}, {{"Total", each List.Sum([Time]), type number}}),
        Merge = Table.NestedJoin(Source,"Date",Group,"Date","NewColumn"),
        Expand = Table.ExpandTableColumn(Merge, "NewColumn", {"Total"}, {"Total"})
    in
        Expand

  • How to avoid invoicing more quantity than the PO's in non stock PO?

    Hello SAPients!
Scenario: We create a non stock PO with a material that has no number and no material group, when we use MIRO TCode to invoice it we can create the invoice with more quantity than the PO, we can even keep adding quantity to the invoice.
How can we stop that? How can we configure our system in order to create the invoice with the exact (or less) quantity than the stated in the PO?
Thanks in advance for your kind help.

    Hi,
Use t.code: OMRM & Maintain the following messages
    1. M8 -081 Quantities invoiced greater than goods receipt quantity as ERROR ( maintain GR-based IV in the PO item level )
2.M8 -087( item without GR )  - Invoice quantity greater than PO quantity  as ERROR & save.
    Now try doing MIRO.
NOTE: If the above setting not work ,then Maintain the messages M8 -081 & M8 -087  as ERROR in OBMSG t.code & save.

  • 'Find an Item' search on list with more items than view limit

    Hello all
The 'Find and Item' search on a list with more items than the view limit appears to filter results according to where you are in that list.  So if I search on the allitems page displaying items 1-100 I get hits from the entire list.  But if I arrow
through to view items 201-300 and repeat the same search only items from 201 to the end of the list are returned
I'm assuming this is not how it should work i.e. it should always return results from the whole list.  Is there a way to make that so (other than increasing the view limit to something huge so that all items are always displayed)
    Many Thanks
    Dan

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that Find an item Search box in List didn't returned any results.
The problem is due to a difference between the Content Source defined for the crawl and the default zone defined in the Alternate Access mapping.
You need to change the Alternate Access Mapping configuration.

  • New MBP's better than the old MBP's?

i have a 2009 13" MBP and been none too impressed with it. i just had an issue with wake from shutdown and i am wondering if the new MBP's are any better than the old ones.
i have been told i have issues because i am a "power" user (even though i don't really feel like i am and i don't do anything computationally intensive on the laptop) and i'm wondering if i have to get the 15" to get full power, if there is a machine anyone would recommend etc.
i have been sort of hankering for the 12" that is rumored to come out in part for the form factor and portability but i am a bit scared that this will be a step down and mean i have additional problems.
    thanks for any advice.

I also agree that the 12" not only has the best keyboard but is the best Mac ever, and I am not looking forward to the day that I have to put the ol' girl down.
I still mourn mine. One tiny solder connection on the motherboard broke, and it is $800 to replace, but I sure loved that computer. Bought it the week it was introduced and it was wonderful.

  • How can i use my iphone with more than one itunes

how can i use my iphone with more than one itunes

    Sync iPod/iPad/iPhone with two computers
Although it isn't possible to sync an Apple device with two different libraries it is possible to sync with the same logical library from multiple computers. Each library has an internal ID and when iTunes connects to your iPod/iPad/iPhone it compares the local ID with the one the device normally syncs with. If they are the same you can go ahead and sync...
I have my library cloned to a small 1Tb USB drive which I can take between home & work. At either location I use SyncToy 2.1 to update the local copy with the external drive. Mac users should be able to find similar tools. I can open either of the local libraries or the one on the external drive and update the media content of my iPhone. The slight exception is Photos which normally connects to a specific folder on a specific machine, although that can easily be remapped to the current library if you create a "Photos" folder inside the iTunes Media folder so that syncing the iTunes folders keeps this up to date as well. I periodically sweep my library for new files & orphans with iTunes Folder Watch just in case I make changes at one location but then overwrite the library with a newer copy from the other. Again Mac users should be able to find similar tools.
As long as your media is organised within an iTunes Music or Tunes Media folder, in turn held inside the main iTunes folder that has your library files (whether or not you let iTunes keep the media folder organised) each library can access items at the same relative path from the library folder so the library can be at different drives/paths on different machines. This solution ensures I always have adequate backups of my library and I can update my devices whenever I can connect to the same build of iTunes.
When working with an iPhone earlier builds of iTunes would remove any file not physically present in the local library, even if there was an entry for it, making manual management practically redundant on the iPhone. This behaviour has been changed but it will still only permit manual management with a library that has the correct internal ID. If you don't want to sync your library between machines on a regular basis just copy the iTunes Library.itl file from the current "home" machine to any other you want to use, then clean out the library entries and import the local content you have on that box.

  • Why is the black iPhone 4/4S more durable than the white?

    I've owned both a black and a white 4S
The black was much more durable, mine flew out my hand and hit the tap, no damage just a big scratch to the back glass because thats where it hit, but it did make the back loose
I had a white, and it smashed the back like 2 inches off concrete, I'm serious.. That's how fragile they are...
    I Now have A Galaxy S4
Why is the black iPhone more durable than the white? I never understood that...

Not sure what causes it, but here are your choices:
    1) bring it to a 3rd party repair shop and see what they say
    2) pay $149 for another replacement
    3) do nothing
    4) buy a new phone (iPhone or otherwise)
    Up to you.
