New Cinema Screen res disappointing

I have the DVI anodized 23" cinema screen, which is wonderful. I just bought the new clear panel 23" cinema screen, which I needed for my new aluminum clad MacBook, and am really disappointed with the resolution of the screen. The aluminum anodized screen is sharp, sharp. But, even set at 1980 res., the new clear panel display is not. In fact, I can't even display a full-res HD 1980 video image on the clear panel display without about half of the image being cropped.
Very disappointed and trying to figure out why the clear panel screen, which uses the mini plug instead of DVI looks so lousy.

The problem is that you've set the displays as 'mirrored', which forces the second (external) display to be identical in content to the primary. The primary is your MacBook 15 (?) that has a native res of 1440x900, if memory serves. This is the reason for the perceived poor performance of the LED Cinema Display 24. Just uncheck 'mirrored' in your display settings and run the external display (independently) at its native rate of 1920x1200.
The best you can do, if mirroring the displays is required, is to set the external to native rate. But, you still will have he issue of inflating, and effectively de-res'ing, the primary display image.

Connecting new Macbook Air to a Mac Cinema Screen

HI everyone
Here is the set up I have:
- A brand new (yesterday) Macbook Air running the latest everything system 10.9.4
- A Mac Cinema screen from about 2008. (it was a hand-me-down so can't more accurate)
What I am trying to do:
- connect the two so that the external screen mirrors my Macbook Air exactly with every click I make
The problem:
- When I plug the screen in, I can only see a mirror of my desktop background image (I have one file on the desktop but it won't show)
- when i do things on my laptop (like load apple communities) it does NOT show on my external cinema screen.
Any ideas of how to fix this?

I have never complain in my life but this time I think apple is abusing me as a costumer.

New Cinema Displays on an (old) G4-867???

Hi. I have a PPCG4 867 MHz (OS 10.4.8, 512MB RAM) with factory installed NVIDIA GeForce2 MX with TwinView display card. I'd like to upgrade to a new cinema display, either a single 23" or dual 20" setup. I do not do heavy graphics or gaming, but just would like a bit more screen real estate. Three questions:
1) Will my current system support the 23" as a simple plugnplay?
2) Will my current system support the dual 20" as a simple plugnplay (I'm not sure what the nomenclature "TwinView" implies), or do I need to purchase a different graphics card? If the latter, any specific suggestions?
3) Any other ideas that I should consider?

No. Your card has one digital (ADC) and one analog (VGA) port. Apple displays are digital only. "TwinView" means both ports can be used at the same time. You would need a graphics card with two digital ports to run two 20" Apple displays. There are no new cards suitable for your G4 (the ATI Radeon 9600 Pro PC/Mac Edition 256MB does not work in many older G4s). You may be able to find a used board, such as the NVIDIA GeForce 4 MX Ti, or get a non-Apple display with a VGA input.

Two cinema screen setup?

I am trying to set up two cinema screens, but they are Hewlett Packard L2335 cinema screens and not MacIntosh. On the back of the GeForce FX 5200 graphics card I have an ADC connector and a DVI connector. The ADC connector has an ADC to DVI connector cable, so I am actually running two DVI ports .
But I can't get the Hewlett Packard screen to work on the ADC port. Only if I switch it to the DVI port, AND use the special Hewlett Packard DVI cable (which has two rows of pins missing in the middle of the connector???) can I get it to work. Why is this?
How can I get the last HP cinema screen to work on the ADC port as well, so I can connect two cinema screens?

I need some help with setting up a two-tiered messaging architecture. I want to have a front end messaging server in a DMZ with a'real' IP-Address and an official FQDN (mx1.external.org) and a back end messaging server as mail store with a private IP-Address and private FQDN (mail.internal.pri). Try moving the cursor to the bottom of the screen if dock is set to appear at the bottom of the screen.

hi all i desgined some pages (using the same template cause
im lazy!!!!) in 1280 x 1024 screen res if veiwed in this res its
fine but if viewed in a lower res it all goes out of place so to
speak any simple ways of resolving this???

Not really. The page must be built from the ground up to fit
in the lowest
expected browser viewport size (screen resolution is really
NOT the variable
you need to consider).
Your nearly identical pages are built in flexible tables -

From Premiere Pro CS5.5 to cinema screen.

I'm starting a new project with CS5.5: it's a 120' movie. I've already the filmed material and I've tested in on Premiere...perfect! But I want to be sure of the final workflow: how to calibrate colors, how to render sequences (separate or an the entire clip), wich is the final developement format for the production etc. In other words, I would like to prepare the right support ready to be seen in a cinema screen. Can anyone suggest me a good tutorial or forum where I can find all the informations I need? P.s: Premiere 5.5 is the final choice! No other software can give me actually the flexibility and the power that I've found in it! Thank you. Alessandro.

Comcast new customer screen after firmware update

Every time I try to update my Airport Extreme's firmware, I get the Comcast new customer screen on my browser and can't access any pages other than that. I've had Comcast come out and they it is a problem with my router and not with them since I can surf the internet when my computer is hooked up directly to the modem. I've tried everything including resetting the Airport and cycling the power and nothing works. The only way I can continue to access the internet is when I upload the factory firmware version to the Airport. Has anyone had this problem before or have any suggestions on how to remedy this?

yeah I recall that pain in the butt problem. You probably had them(Comcast) install their so called mac software which you should not have done .
When my memory comes back I'll post the counter measure.
Although try this in the meantime;
ethernet from Comcast modem to wan port of apple router. ethernet from your Mac to lan port of Apple router. Power off the modem and the router. Bring the modem up first then the router. Place the router using DHCP and set your wireless config if need be. Should work.

I open Mail, and a new message screen comes up. I cannot get rid of it, and I cannot get to the mail in my mailbox???

When I try to open my mail (not IMail) a new message screen comes up on my iPad (version 8.1.3 (12B466), and I cannot cancel it; it prevents me from getting to the mail in that mailbox.

Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.

Cinema Screen & LCD TV connected to G5 - can the cinema screen still sleep?

I have a 20'' Apple Cinema Screen and an LCD TV connected to my Powermac G5 at the same time.
When I am playing a DVD or movie from Quicktime so it shows on the TV in fullscreen mode, I want the Cinema Screen to go to sleep automatically after the number of minutes I have it set to sleep after no activity. This doesn't happent though. Is there any way to make this happen?
I tried having the cinema screen set to 'power button turns monitor on/off' - so that when playing something on the TV I manually turn off the cinema screen - BUT with this method, when I shut down my computer, the cinema screen doesn't turn off!

Are you using Spaces? It sounds like perhaps Spaces is being inadvertently activated. Go into System Preferences/Exposé and Spaces and turn Spaces off if it is on and see if that helps.

300 dpi images turn fuzzy when export as interactive or screen res pdf

Hi, my print brochure is fine, sharp, linked etc. But when I try to export as interactive pdf or screen res pdf, for online purposes, my clean logos and pix turn nasty. Do I need to change them individually to 72dpi and change them to rgb (i thought the export process did this automatically)? Thanks in advance to any answers.

If you choose File > Export > Adobe PDF (Interactive), the default is 72 ppi, but you can set it to a higher value. All images will automatically be convert to RGB, with, I believe, an sRGB profile, according to Dov.
