New & clean s300

Hi everyone
I have a new s300 without any OS on him
Can somebody help me with os installation?
because this computer doesn't have cd drive and there is no option from usb boot
thanks

have you tried inserting an actual USB flash drive with a windows install image (or linux) on it and then booting to BIOS and see if the USB drive appears under Boot Device Priority?
oh and also disable that UEFI boot thingy.
you can write windows install media to a USB flash drive using this utility
http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/html/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool
you can see this post where some person is able to install from a USB flash drive on the s300, so it MUST be possible
http://superuser.com/questions/528967/i-cant-boot-from-any-usb-device-after-installing-linux
he said " I had to change the boot mode in my BIOS from [UEFI] to [Legacy Support]"

  • How do i install os on new clean HD once swapped?

I have new macbook pro 13" with ivy bridge released on 6/11/2012. I want to install new ssd in it. I figured out hardware procedure but need some help figuring out how to put os on new hd.
How do i install os on new clean HD once swapped?
MBP didn't come with installation disc, also i don't have external drive to backup restore.
Is there any way to install os with new hd without using backup? if no, any way i can burn installation disc.

How to replace or upgrade a drive in a laptop
Step One: Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger, Leopard or Snow Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Step Two: Remove the old drive and install the new drive.  Place the old drive in an external USB enclosure.  You can buy one at OWC who is also a good vendor for drives.
Step Three: Boot from the external drive.  Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager appears.  Select the icon for the external drive then click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Step Four: New Hard Drive Preparation
    1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
    2. After DU loads select your new hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID  then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
Step Five: Clone the old drive to the new drive
    1. Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
    2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
    3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
    4. Check the box labeled Erase destination.
    5. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
    6. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
    7. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the new internal drive. Source means the old external drive.
Step Six: Open the Startup Disk preferences and select the new internal volume.  Click on the Restart button.  You should boot from the new drive.  Eject the external drive and disconnect it from the computer.
It's possible to make a USB flash drive installer, but it's not simple. First you need to capture a Lion installer application: Downloading Hardware Specific Lion Installers.
    Then use the following procedure:
    Make Your Own Lion Installer
    1. After downloading Lion you must first save the Install Mac OS X Lion application. After Lion downloads DO NOT click on the Install button. Go to your Applications folder and make a copy of the Lion installer. Move the copy into your Downloads folder. Now you can click on the Install button. You must do this because the installer deletes itself automatically when it finishes installing Lion.
    2. Get a USB flash drive that is at least 8 GBs. Prep this flash drive as follows:
Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
    3. Locate the saved Lion installer in your Downloads folder. CTRL- or RIGHT-click on the installer and select Show Package Contents from the contextual menu. Double-click on the Contents folder to open it. Double-click on the SharedSupport folder. In this folder you will see a disc image named InstallESD.dmg.
    4. Plug in your freshly prepared USB flash drive. You are going to clone the InstallESD.dmg disc image to the flash drive as follows:
    Open Disk Utility.
Select the USB flash drive from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Check the box labeled Erase destination.
Select the USB flash drive volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Drag the InstallESD.dmg disc image file into the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
When the clone is completed you have a fully bootable Lion installer that  you can use without having to re-download Lion.

  • Isolating old Time Machine backups & performing new clean backup post OS X reinstall

    Hi,
I recently wiped my Mid-2009 MacBook Pro in order to complete a fresh Mavericks install. Previous backups were done through Time Machine on an external drive with nothing else on. How do I 'freeze', isolate, or archive these old backups on the same drive and get TM to complete a brand new clean separate backup of the refreshed internal HDD?
Every time I connect the external drive and select this disk in TM, it recognises the previous backups and doesn't seem to want to complete a clean full backup of my new Mavericks-based system.
Have tried renaming my computer in the Sharing section of System Preferences, but TM simply renames the <computer> folder within backups on the external drive and so all backups continue to be stored together.
I know moving and altering backup directories in Finder can be foolish (plus doesn't seem to allow me anyway) and, whilst formatting the external drive would work, I don't want to lose the previous backups, just in case I have forgotten to transfer something over when reinstalling.
Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks

  • [svn:bz-trunk] 5137: Fix failing security tests on BlazeDS/ trunk by using a remote object to invalidate the FlexSession at the end of each test method which should cause each test method to run with a new /clean session.

    Log Message:
Fix failing security tests on BlazeDS/trunk by using a remote object to invalidate the FlexSession at the end of each test method which should cause each test method to run with a new/clean session. It looks like some test methods were leaving some things in a bad state which was causing the next test that ran to fail. These may be legitimate bugs/issues so we should investigate further to see what sequence of events gets things into a bad state but for these tests we want all of the test methods to run in isolation.

In general theory, one now has the Edit button for their posts, until someone/anyone Replies to it. I've had Edit available for weeks, as opposed to the old forum's ~ 30 mins.
That, however, is in theory. I've posted, and immediately seen something that needed editing, only to find NO Replies, yet the Edit button is no longer available, only seconds later. Still, in that same thread, I'd have the Edit button from older posts, to which there had also been no Replies even after several days/weeks. Found one that had to be over a month old, and Edit was still there.
Do not know the why/how of this behavior. At first, I thought that maybe there WAS a Reply, that "ate" my Edit button, but had not Refreshed on my screen. Refresh still showed no Replies, just no Edit either. In those cases, I just Reply and mention the [Edit].
Also, it seems that the buttons get very scrambled at times, and Refresh does not always clear that up. I end up clicking where I "think" the right button should be and hope for the best. Seems that when the buttons do bunch up they can appear at random around the page, often three atop one another, and maybe one way the heck out in left-field.
While I'm on a role, it would be nice to be able to switch between Flattened and Threaded Views on the fly. Each has a use, and having to go to Options and then come back down to the thread is a very slow process. Jive is probably incapable of this, but I can dream.

  • Have deleted firefix and then tried to looad a clean version but it reloads the older header with two google searcxhes etc that I just cannot get rid of. How do I create a new clean version please/

I had two tool bars with google search in the header part . Cannot delete them even if I delete firefox and relaod. Am not sure where any other details I have could be stored that I haven't found. I now assume it is on the firefox web site. I just want to download a clean (new) copy of firefox and none of the stuff I had as add ons in the one I have just deleted (twice because it will not disappear so there are files somewhere I can't find. Please tell me how to get a clean version with no old stuff from previous load.

You can uninstall the relevant extensions from Tools>Addons to remove those toolbars. Also there may be some unwanted plugins which you may want to disable. This should solve your problems.
If you still want a clean profile, uninstall firefox with the "Remove my Firefox personal data and customizations" checkbox enabled. Alternatively you may remove your firefox profile folder which (on Window7) is stored in C:\Users\<your-username>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles folder with a randomly name. You may delete this folder before installing a new version to get a clean profile.

  • New Clean Mac - Best Migration Path?

I currently have a iMac G5 running Tiger and iLife 06 and have just recieved a new iMac with Leopard pre-installed and was looking for some advice in the best migration path.
I would like to know wether people recommend just using the Migration Assistant to get everything across or should I start afresh and copy across specific photos, music, mail files etc?
The question stems from the fact that the G5 has had a couple of upgrades in its time and I look at things such as the iphoto library files and they seem to be mutiple libraries (ie iphoto library, iphoto 6 library) and other duplicate files. So not sure if MA will sort and clean these out or will copy all across?
Any thoughts would be apreciated........thanks Daniel

    Hello Daniel,
Very similar issues here. Just upgraded from a G4 to an intel 2.4G. I cloned the G4 onto an external. Set up the new iMac. Connected to the external and ported across only those files I wanted or needed. Now have a clean iMac with no clutter or unwanted junk on it. Double checked that everything was in order before wiping the external and cloning again.
Hang on to the G5 - Just in case you missed something. A flash drive or CD will resolve any issues.

  • How can I restore my old history & bookmarks if I didn't run backup before re-installing a new clean OS? I've been using Firefox for 7 years as default, help me

    Hello,
I believe that what I'm asking is simple & clear. Do you or do you not store user data backups on your servers? I've been using Firefox, as the default browser, for over 7 years. Naturally, I had to upgrade my
pc's & operating systems several times through this period. Every time I use a new device & of course a
new OS, I normally lose my old data (History & Bookmarks).
If you keep records or backups of old users' data, there will be no problem & I could restore all my old data
following your instructions. If not, which is probably the case, I'd like to suggest you consider developing or
at least put more stress on running backup before uninstalling & re-installing a new OS for the users to pay more attention to this issue.
    That's all, thanks.
    Regards,
    Aly Hamed

hello aly, mozilla doesn't keep any of your history or bookmarks on its severs without your expressed consent (would be a horrible privacy policy otherwise) - there's the [[Use Sync to share your Firefox bookmarks, passwords and more with Firefox for mobile|firefox sync feature]] which will store parts of your private data encrypted in the cloud, in case you've used that in the past you'd need 3 components to restore this data: your username, password & the recovery key...
otherwise i don't know of any way to get to your old data if you haven't kept any other backup of some sorts - unfortunately most of us are reminded to the importance of backups when it's already too late :-/
in regard to your suggestion: during the firefox uninstall procedure your personal data isn't removed per default, so it would still be there after a reinstall of the application - you'd have to explicitly check the option to clear this kind of data in the uninstaller. some general information on where to look if you want to backup your firefox data in the future is available here: [[Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles]]

My original HDD drive was broken. Now I have original Windows 8 Pro install disk and new HDD 500GB drive.  Original SDD 32GB drive is good. Is any way to install Windows 8 Pro to this two disk together like in one disk (SDD will be for hibernating and accelerate system operations) ? Maybe I must install Windows 8 Pro only to standard HDD drive (500GB) and later after install Intel Rapid Technology (special drivers and technology) I must create RAID disk connecting existing HDD disk with SDD disk for best performance ?
Also I dont know how to create RAID disks..as in my bios I cant see INTEL OPTION ROM for creating RAID Volumes.
    Someone please help.

    Hi @cruiser91 ,
These are recoverable downloads located at the Driver page. I would install all at the driver-Chipset.
A RAID array appears to the operating system to be a single logical drive, regardless of how many individual drives are part of the RAID array. Both hard disks can be used, and while it’s advised that matching drives are used in a single array for best performance.
