New Collaboration Features of the Portal

Hi,
Do anyone of you know when some of the New Collaboration Features of the Portal is released.
I know that some of the features already are released, but I am especially interested in the new Team workspaces (next-generation of collaboration rooms) and the standard integration to MS Sharepoint.
I found this document

which stats Q1 2008, but that does not seem to hold. So do any of you have more recent information about the release plan?

Hi Henrik,
The beta shipment of the first feature wave of the collaboration portal started end of March, as mentioned [here|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/nw-collaboration#section10].
Only some selected pilot customers have access to the beta shipment. The features that you mention are included in this beta shipment.
The Collaboration Portal should be available once the ramp-up phase is completed.

Accessing a Collaboration room without the Portal masthead

Hi,
I have the URL to the Collaboration room I created.
I want to provide the link to the room to the user and it should open in the same window.When Iam trying to open it in the samw window in the content area, I am again getting the coll. room opened with the Portal masthead(welcome area,navigation etc.,).Is there a way to create a link to the room without the portal header?

Hi Rabih,
Finally, I solved it on my own.
Here is the soln.,
First create a copy of the Default framework page and edit it. Untick the visible checkbox for Portal masthead, toplevel navigation and detailed navigation.Save it.
Create a URL for accessing this link like irj/servlet/pcd...
Now coming to the coll. room URL, create a URL iview with the above URL and pass the Collaboration connector as parameter to the URL iview.
It worked for me.

Popup message while creating new CRM activities in the Portal

Hello All,
We are implementing EP 7.0 SPS 12 and have integrated CRM 5.0 with it. We have installed CRM BP 5.0 SPS 01.
When we are creating activities through the Portal using the "Business Activity" iview and then save the creation, we get a popup with the message - <b>"The web page you are viewing is trying to close the window. Do you want to close this window?"</b>..
What could be wrong and how should we solve this?

I think that this kind of message will come because of the timeout property in the backend system(CRM).Try to figure out the timeout property in backend and increase the same.

To Disable the Collaboration Features coming up in the popup window

Hi,
Can some one tell me how I can disable the Collaboration Features ( Send Email,Create Appointment,Send InstantMessage,CreateTask etc ) that come up in the popup window whn we click on the link provided just after user name .
I dont want to get the link to be displayed next to user name as we aren't implementing the Collaboration feature in our Portal here

Hi
You can remove the context menu popup by doing this:
Login to portal as admin
Follow system admin-->sysconfigratrion --> coloabration -->properties -->command group -->users group -->edit --> remove
   UserGWGroup
   UserSyncGroup
   UserAsyncGroup
   UserWorkflowGroup.
This way all the menu will be removed.

Firstly get the complete details of the collabration ,what it does ,why it is used and how the configurations are made ,i am provding you the maximum information hope it would help you any more queries get back with reply.
Collaboration Launch Pad (CLP) allows portal users to manage their contacts and launch services for collaboration. Users use a link in the tool area of the masthead to launch the CLP,then activate clp and Activate the technical component Real-Time Collaboration (RTC).
RTC provide the standard services instant messaging and application sharing.
With these technical components, you also activate the Real-Time Messaging Framework (RTMF). In the portal, the RTMF is the technical infrastructure for transferring real-time event between servers and clients.
so, After installing the Collaboration component in SAP NetWeaver, you need to complete a number of configuration steps in order to fully implement Real-Time Collaboration (RTC) in the portal. RTC provides both application sharing and instant messaging in the portal.

Currently i am analysing the Collaboration features which are easy to maintain that we can offer to our BW Reporting USers...

There are various KM & collaboration feature available on portal like forums collaboration rooms, chat, mail,sharing of documents, search, subscription, work flow, time-based publishing.
In one of my client, we have used KM extensively to publish dashboard on portal. Several BI dashboard for different countries. Thus folder were created for each countries in KM. Countries dashboard link were created in respective KM folder. We had used there subscription where user had subscribed to this folder. As soon as some dashboard is published all users respective to that countries were information by mail.
You can even use broadcasting feature using BI repository where BI reports can be published in KM, you can even schedule BI report which would be published as well as sent in email.
So thus depending on client requirement you can use following feature. Let me know if you have some other ideas for collaborating BI reports on portal

Accessibility Feature alters the Theme

Hi,
As a portal administrator, i have enabled the accessibility feature for an end user. Once i do that, the end user's portal desktop masthead looks different than before. There is a wide white space that is supposed to be green.
Please let me know if the accessibility feature affects the portal theme in any way.

When I looked into the HTML code of the masthead, the table created in accessibility mode excluded a css class. This class determines the background image of the masthead. Without this class, the masthead background will be blank (white).
I'm not sure if this bug is fixed in later versions, but this is the bug fix.
Portal masthead component - Accessibility bug fix
1. As Administrator,
Go to System Configuration -> Support -> Portal Runtime -> Browse Deployment -> temp browse
2. Download com.sap.portal.masthead.par.bak
3. Import .par in NWDS. Remember to extract and rename file before.
4. Import com.sap.portal.navigation.masthead_core.jar into dist/PORAL-INF/private/lib from original package. This can be done by renaming the par to zip, extracting, and navigating to the proper directory. NWDS may not have imported this file, which may cause errors later.
5. Open dist/PORTAL-INF/jsp/HeaderiView.jsp
6. In Line 501, add class="prtlHdrWhl" into the table statement.
e.g. <TABLE width="100%" border="0" id="myTable" class="prtlHdrWhl" ti="0" ...
7. Save and deploy project with new name.
8. Create and modify iView, framework, desktop, master rules with the new masthead par accordingly. There are many tutorials online.

How to add a new page to a streaming portal?

I want to add a new page to a streaming portal.
I add a new page to the .portal file on my desktop development
environment.
I do a build, creating a new ear with an updated .portal file on it.
I deploy that ear, but I do not see the page in the library.
I found that if I create a new Desktop, based off the .portal file, the
page is added to the library (as well as every other desktop).
Is this the right way to do things? Or do I have to add the page using
the admin tool? If I do, I don't have access to all the properties.

Once you create desktop from a template (.portal) file built in workshop, all the elements of the portal template file get stored in database as library resources. Later when you add new pages to the .portal file, you wont see those changes in the streaming mode desktop. As far as I know, BEA is trying to fix this issue in future releases. But in the meanwhile, you have to create a new .portal file in workshop and create desktop out of it from admin portal to see the new changes.

How to change the ESS objects, iViews and Pages, translation in the portal?

I'd like to change the standard SAP translation for iView and Pages in the Portal level. Does anybody knows how to do this?

you can change the standard SAP iViews and Pages using the Portal Content Translation feature of the Portal ( go to Content Administration->Portal Content Translation. Follow the instructions at

all ESS iviews and pages have their content "ready for translation" and you can use the instructions above to translate that content.

Integrating ECC reports with BW reports in the Portal

Greetings experts!
How, if at all, can one integrate BW reports that are in BW Roles in the portal (i.e. an enduser runs reports using the "new analysis" button in the portal via the 0analysis_pattern template) with ECC reports in the portal?
Requirement:
End users are looking for one location to go for all their reporting needs (ECC and BW) in the portal.
BW developers wish to continue the deployment and management of reports via the BW roles that reside in BW and stay away from creating an iview for every BW report.
Is this possible? thanks in advance for all your responses.

I am not sure how your ECC reports display in the Portal however I assume they are associated with an ECC Role.
You do not need to create an iview for each BW report. Upload your roles into the Portal under System Administration > Transport > Role Upload.
Each role in your ABAP (BW) role will be created in an assoicated Portal Role.
These roles will display in the Top Level Navigation, as do all roles that have been assigned to a user. The Reports of the Roles then display in the Detailed Navigation frame in the portal, once the role has been selected in the Top Level Navigation.
In this way your users go to one place, the portal to execute reports.

New Purchase feature will allow to watch, but not offline

New purchase feature of the AppleTV IOS system will allow you to purchase TV Shows and such, however you can NOT download purchased content. I have an AppleTV and a Mini Server with a 4TB Disk attached, and when I made a Purchase on Apple TV, I get a counter for how long it will take to sync to iCloud for my personal viewing pleasure, but I can not download to my Mini Server's iTunes library. I had to purchase a 2nd copy to store locally and use to sync to my devices for watching offline.
L A M E! If I purchased it, I like that iCloud will allow me to stream it and watch it via Live TV, but why can't I download it to watch offline. Do you honestly think I'm going to travel with my AppleTV and stream video's over an Airplane's wireless 36000 feet in the air on my way to Germany? C'MON!
Also, why am I waiting 39 minutes for the episode to be made available, if I rent it I can stream it instantly, if I pay you MORE for it, I'm penalized by having to wait over 1/2 an hour to begin my stream session.

All you have to do is open iTunes select iTunes Store and on your home page right hand side under Quick links
there is a purchased link.
In here you will find your Music, T.V. Shows, Apps and Books that you have purchased.
Find the episode you purchased on your AppleTV in the list on the Left. Select it then click on the Cover art.
You will get a Pop up window and be able to download from there.
