New column added date

Hi All,
Is there a way to find when a new column has been added to a table ?

You can find out the last time that DDL was executed against a table
SELECT last_ddl_time
  FROM user_objects
WHERE object_name = <<table name>>You cannot, however, be certain what DDL it was-- it could have been that a column was added, it could have been that the table was truncated. If you have enabled auditing or have a DDL trigger in place you could track this sort of thing.

  • Is there an easy way to append a new column of data to an existing xl file?

    I am modifying and existing program and the new needs are to have a compilation of averaging information to later be plotted with an xl graph. The VI will need to open the existing xl file, add the new column of data points without disturbing the existing columns of data, with a column header, and save the new file with the existing file name. The open and save are obviously not a problem, but I have never appended a new column, just rows in the past. The existing program is LV5.1, but i have a professional developement version of LV6i at my disposal if I need to convert it. Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

    INdeed there is. YOu want to use the "write characters to file" node. (If you're using numerical data, you might have to convert with one of the STRING conversion functions) YOu want to concatenate the string as follows: TAB/DATA/CARRIAGE RETURN. Also be sure to wire TRUE to the Append File terminal of the WRite Characters to File node.. Good luck!

  • Column added date

    How to get columns added date for table.

    Hi,
    I don't believe Oracle automatically records when every column of every table was created. If you need to keep track of that, then you'll have to do it yourself.
    The column last_ddl_time of user_objects shows when any kind of DDL (such as adding a column) was done, but only the most recent time, and there's no telling what change was made at that time. I know tjat's pretty far from what you want, but it might be the closest that you can get with standard Oracle features.

  • New columns added in a table

    Hi,
    A table is altered to add some new information (columns, or constraints etc).
    Is there a way to check what all new columns are added to the table and at what date?
    Does Oracle Keep track of this activity some where in its Data Dictionary?
    Version od the Oracle is - 9.2.0.6.0
    Thanks,
    Vineet

    LAST_DDL date will also be updated if i do the analyze on the table.No it won't.
    SQL> create table t (n number);
    Table created.
    SQL> alter session set nls_date_format = 'yyyy-mm-dd hh24:mi:ss';
    Session altered.
    SQL> exec dbms_stats.gather_table_stats(user, 't');
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
    SQL> select o.last_ddl_time, t.last_analyzed
      2  from user_objects o, user_tables t
      3  where t.table_name = 'T'
      4  and t.table_name = o.object_name
      5  and o.object_type = 'TABLE';
    LAST_DDL_TIME       LAST_ANALYZED
    2007-02-25 16:21:41 2007-02-25 16:22:25
    SQL>I once had a Re: ddl about whether this implied gathering statistics should not be considered DDL.

  • Not able to get the reference fot the new column added thru personalization

    Hi,
    I have added a new column in an advanced table of Message Text Input. ID for this is xxTemp.
    Now i have extended controller and in processrequest(), i am trying to get the reference for this column as below:
    OAAdvancedTableBean oaadvancedtablebean1 = (OAAdvancedTableBean)webBean.findIndexedChildRecursive("ASNPrdtLstTb");
    OAMessageTextInputBean oamessagetextinputbean = (OAMessageTextInputBean)webBean.findIndexedChildRecursive("xxTemp");
    But oamessagetextinputbean is returning null value.
    Can someone tell me why this is not able to get the reference for the newly added column.
    This is very urgent. please post me ur ideas.

  • DB Adapter-new column added in db to imported table

    We have a bpel process, we created a db adapter to select from a table and we did our invoke and assigns (and we are using the output in many places in the process). Now another column was added to the table, and we need it. How can we reimport the table to get the new column w/o breaking everythign else.(assignments, invokes, relationships, attributes). Rox

    When changes have been made to your database schema and you need to propagate these to your bpel process which is using toplink for dbAdapter-partnerlinks you need to step through the partnerlink again.
    Go to your bpel-project and double clik the partner link again, step through the db adapter wizard and these changes will get forward engineered inside your java wrapper classes.
    Difficulties regarding changing schema's in the db adapter mostly come down to probelsm regarding master-detail relationships, changing settings in your toplink mapping file regarding sequencing and removal of stale attributes.
    Kind regards,
    Nathalie

  • Regarding new columns adding in report painter S_ALR_87013611

    Hello Experts,
    I have requirement that, we have a Std report which is developed in report painter S_ALR_87013611.
    We want to add 2 new columns in the output. Those 2 new columns from a Z table.
    Can any body tell how to do this.
    Thanks,
    Suresh

    Hi,
    You have to use the report and get the output then go to settings and report layout and in that Lead column and key and description.This might help you.

  • New Column Breaking Existing PLSQL

    My PLSQL contains many statements like this:
    DECLARE
    data NUMBER;
    BEGIN
    SELECT .. FROM ... WHERE col1=data;
    END;
    where col1 is a column name and 'data' is a variable named without the v_ convention. And this is the problem. If I add a new column called 'data', the above code will break since 'data' is now interpreted as the name of a column.
    Are there any ways to guard against this error when adding new columns? I don't know how the existing code name the variables, and it is practically not possible to inspect all existing code manually.

    In that case, give the column a name that is hard to appear as a variable in your code:
    something like <TABLE_NAME>$<COLUMN_NAME> for your new column:
    SQL> alter table emp add (emp$data number) ;
    Table altered.
    SQL> desc emp
    Name                                      Null?    Type
    EMPNO                                     NOT NULL NUMBER(4)
    ENAME                                              VARCHAR2(10)
    JOB                                                VARCHAR2(9)
    MGR                                                NUMBER(4)
    HIREDATE                                           DATE
    SAL                                                NUMBER(7,2)
    COMM                                               NUMBER(7,2)
    DEPTNO                                             NUMBER(2)
    EMP$DATA NUMBER

  • Want to add one new column in Report form

    Hi all,
    I have searched in forum but not able to find the answer.
    I want to add one new column in form 12KST1C. I have added one column PR commitment in left and saved the form, it is showing in form but when i am running the report again then pr commitment column which i have added in form is not coming in report.
    How to activate this form or column?
    Help me....in doing so...

    If you are copying the 12KST1C to Z12KST1C and executing the s_alr_8701333 report, you will not see the new column added to Z12KST1C
    With the new Form Z12KST1C, create a new Report Z12KST1C and assign a new TCODE. Also you have to select all rows and column of form Z12KST1C
    TCODE CJE5
    Select the form Z12KST1C
    Extras--Drildown display --Select Rows and columns
    Select the all colhmns by F9
    Hope this helps.

  • Adding new column in an existing report which was build using Union

    While working in OBIEE 11g I encounter an issue.
    My existing report was build using UNION at Criteria Tab in Analysis. Now I have a requirement to add a new column into the same report. For each criteria I have added the new column but when I go back to the "Result Columns". I see a new field added but it is not allowing me to open or edit column properties for that new column & at the same time it is not allowing me to navigate to other tabs like Results, Promts, and Advanced.
    I don’t want to build this report from scratch. Is there any workaround to get it resolved?

    Hi,
    Just check it once the new added column data types are mismatched or not?
    and the new added column should be navigated into excluded section, so u should edit the report and dragged into the table column section.
    Thanks..

  • Add new column in ITEM data of ME21N/ME22N/ME23N

    Hi Experts,
    We have a requirement to add a custom field in ITEM data of transactions ME21N, ME22N and ME23N. A new column is required that would appear as checkbox. We have already tried screen exit MM06E005 but it is adding a new tab and the new field under the ITEM DETAIL data. We have also read that BADI ME_GUI_PO_CUST would do the job but it will be under the ITEM DETAIL as well.

    Thanks

    Hi,
        If you want to make the new field to appear as check box...Go to the screen layout from its module pool program --> right click on that field and Convert it to Check Box. This would help you.

  • Issue adding a new column to OBIEE presentation layer

    Hi,
    I am pretty new to OBIEE so this may be a silly question. I am facing some problems trying to add a new column from a physical table the OBIEE presentation layer.
    Below are the steps I followed:
    Task: add a product category set to the presentation layer.
    Steps:
    1) First verified that the product category set is being populated in the W_PROD_CAT_DH table in the datawarehouse. this was done by running the following sql
    SELECT W_PROD_CAT_DH.TOP_LVL_PRODCAT_NAME
    FROM W_PROD_CAT_DH, W_INVENTORY_PRODUCT_D
    WHERE W_PROD_CAT_DH.integration_id = W_INVENTORY_PRODUCT_D.INV_PROD_CAT1
    This sql gave the right category value.
    2) created a "Alias" of the table W_PROD_CAT_DH in the OBIEE Admin tool physical layer. (done by right clicking W_PROD_CAT_DH >>New Object>> Alias)
    3) named the Alias of W_PROD_CAT_DH as "Dim_W_INV_MKT_CAT" and created a key of the alias named "integration id" on the column "integration_id"
    4) opened the pre-existing alias of W_INVENTORY_PRODUCT_D the alias was called "Dim_W_INVENTORY_PRODUCT_D" and added a key called "MKT_CAT" on the column "INV_PROD_CAT1" in this alias (Dim_W_INVENTORY_PRODUCT_D of the table W_INVENTORY_PRODUCT_D)
    5) in the alias of the "W_INVENTORY_PRODUCT_D" called "Dim_W_INVENTORY_PRODUCT_D" added a "Foreign Keys" the expression of the key is following: ("Oracle Data Warehouse"."Catalog"."dbo"."Dim_W_INV_MKT_CAT"."INTEGRATION_ID" = "Oracle Data Warehouse"."Catalog"."dbo"."Dim_W_INVENTORY_PRODUCT_D"."INV_PROD_CAT1")
    Logical layer
    6) Opened the existing logical folder called "Dim - Inventory Product" and clicked on "Sources" tab then double clicked the source "Dim_W_INVENTORY_PRODUCT_D" and added a new mapping under "Map to these tables" under "General" tab. The column that was added was the physical alias "Dim_W_INV_MKT_CAT"
    7) added a new column mapping to the same logical table source (Dim_W_Inventory_PRODUCT_D) this new mapping was a column from the alias "Dim_W_INV_MKT_CAT" (column name "TOP_LVL_PRODCAT_NAME")
    Presentation Layer
    8) dragged the newly added column (TOP_LVL_PRODCAT_NAME) from the logical layer "Dim - Inventory Product" to the presentation layer "Product" folder.
    ISSUE
    after adding everything and checking global consistency and save and checking-in my work when i login from the front end presentation services. I see the newly added column is showing under the "Product" folder. on dragging the column by itself to the Ad-Hoc analysis I can see the different values of the category. On adding a second column from the same logical folder (Dim - Inventory Product in logical layer) i still see the right product name and corresponding category. BUT when I drag any other column from any other folder (such as "Day" from "Time" or any fact values) the result does not fetch any data (message: The specified criteria didn't result in any data.)
    I am not sure if I am missing any step but I know I am mapping the new table alias to the inventory_product_d since i see right results on creating analysis of columns in those two folders. but no other folders give me any data.
    I also know that the logical folder "Dim - Inventory Product" is joined with other tables as I can see results when i do not add the newly added catagory column but other folder and other columns of "Dim - Inventory Product"
    I would really appreciate any insight to this very much. we are using OBIEE 11.1.1.6 with the Oracle 11.5.10 Adaptor (SDE_ORA11510_Adopter)
    I will try to upload some screenshots if needed but presently not sure if its something really simple.

    Hi Prassu,
    thanks for the responce. and Apologies for the delay in getting back to you.
    1) 1.First of all set the logging level to 3 in the admin tool save it.
    You can get the SQL query from here
    settings(Answers right top)-->Administration-->manage sessions-->view log
    When I try to do this I get the following message. and no log files.

  • ADF - New columns in DB table need to be reflected in Data Control Palette

    I am new to ADF. I am editing a JSF that does add and edit to data in database table. I added new columns to the table and need to modify the JSF accordingly.
    I have not been able to find info on how to take a new "snapshot" of the database table that will reflect my new columns in the DataBindings.cpx.
    Can someone steer me in the right direction?
    Thanks,
    Chris

    Chris,
    if your business service is ADF BC, then synchronize the EO with the database for it to pick up the changes. Once this is done, go to the VO and add the two new attributes. Right after that the data control palette will show the new entries.
    If you use EJB as a business service layer, change the entity classto expose the two attributes, re-generate the session facade ad then re-generate the data control.

  • Adding new column to production database

    I have to add a new timestamp column, that defaults to the current date/time, to an existing production database. The table is large - 150M records. I am trying to understand the ramifications of adding a new column to a table this large that gets hit often, mostly with inserts and reads. The column does allow null values and I am not going back and populating existing records with a value. Basically, I am looking for some best practice guidelines - how to prepare, what to expect, what other processes should be followed along with this schema update.

    Radiators wrote:
    Thanks, I have not found any %TYPE or %ROWTYPE dependencies on the table I am altering. But at the same time I do not understand how these types of dependencies would invalidate packages. I wouldn't be breaking any %TYPE dependency because I am not dropping columns, only adding a new one. And according to documentation for %ROWTYPE - "If columns are later added to or dropped from the table, your code can keep working without changes." Can you point me to Oracle documentation that describes your concern in detail? Thanks.you can test it yourself

    SQL> you should also consider the chance that some where if people are using "select * into" using this table, which will fail since you added new column. i don't see any unusual performance bottlenecks by adding a new column. in case of the backups, yes the earlier backups will not have the column. if you restore it, you will see earlier table structure itself. i have one specific question. why are you not attempting this in development/test environment first? even if it is a simple insert, it's always important to do it in test environments before attempting on production db. one thing for sure i know is, after adding column, you will have to recompile all the invalid dependencies. i think, it's better if you attempt it in test db and come up with any issues you see rather than asking a general question where problematic scenarios are plenty and rarely unknown before hand.
