  • Problem in creating new communication channel template in IR

    Hi experts,
I currently have problems with creating new communication channel template in Integration Repository. If I choose the New-Context (Adapter Objects-->Communication Channel Template) the dialog "CREATE OBJECT" is shown. After I have inserted the Name of my template I push the create button.
    Then the following error occurs:
STOP: Internal error: Object cannot be changed in display mode
DETAILS: Internal error: Object cannot be changed in display mode(CANT_SET_MODIFIED).
So can anybody help me. Thanks for your help.

  • My dream new communicator

As a person who has kept faith in the communicator range since the 9210, I am waiting for the new release with both hands. Please Nokia, kindly add the following features.
    1. If you can fit 4GB in a N91, can you kindly fit anything over just 1GB to new communicator. Off course, 5GB will be a market killer
    2. 3G support. I do not need to carry a communicator and another ugly and huge phone just for the sake of 3G.
    3. Camera. Only a 2 megapixel camera and above may add some taste.
    4. Good to have HP printer support but for those of us who may be owning other Bluetooth devices, can we have a universal bluetooth driver support for all the other printers. Currently, printing on other bluetooth devices other than HP will work but text will lose formating as well as colour.
    5. Built in support of video applications that make use of the big screen that the device has in store. Real player with a screen size of an S60 device is not quite right.
    6. My last wish is that the new communicator be unveiled soon whilst the money is still in my pocket. I have got enough faith in Nokia and would not want to be fulled by other upcoming devices. Long life communicator!

I forgot to say my new communicator should also have a touchscreen. I can not believe I forgot that! A keyboard and a touchscreen can only help to kill appreciation of other competing devices like HTC universal, which as you know have got a million names depending on what network you take it from.

  • Migrating to a new Community

    Community Members,
Next week, the Verizon Wireless Community will be migrating over to a new platform, redesigning the entire Community to better facilitate utilization. The new layout offers a creatively designed space with easy functionality and great new feature.
This new platform, gives us the ability to modernize the look and of the Community regularly. The layout on the homepage facilitates navigation to our devices, products and services so current and new members can easily get familiar with the design.
In terms of functionality the new platform allows for members to differentiate between discussions and questions which will help our super-users and social media team better support members looking for answers quickly. The layout offers an activity stream on both the homepage and member profile pages so members and potential members can always view the interesting topics and discussions happening in the Community. In addition the new platform allows all members to @mention people, places and content so everyone is better connected and everything is easier to share. This platform also allots for image, document and video upload so overall it will be a great place to join and hangout.
As mentioned above we will be launching early next week so please prepare for the change as there are some features we are losing and some content that will not be migrated over. Unfortunately there will no longer be kudos, however there will still be tags so you still have the ability to earn points via tags. You can also earn points by starting up or getting involved with discussions and questions. You can post images and videos (all will be monitored) but you earn points for those as well. The new platform thrives on a point system and is more about earning points and reaching new levels however there will no longer be more permissions granted for each level. Everyone will earn permissions as we all get comfortable with the new design as there are tons of features we will be adding in phases.
In the beginning just keep an open mind and enjoy navigating around a brand new layout. Try to use the “Suggestions for this Community” to let us know what you are thinking. Upon the actual cutover you will need to enter your credentials either as a My Verizon user or Community member only and you will be asked to reset your password, however you are more than welcomed to use the same password as you currently have, we do not have or know your passwords, which is why it asks you to reset. Finally the content within your private messages in box will not be migrated over so please go through your inboxes and save any messages you want, There is a private message feature in the new design we just can’t migrate the messages over because they are your private messages.
OK, that about does it! Have a great weekend and we’ll see you all in the new Community next week!!
    Thanks, Lauren

  • Launching of a new communicator.

    Hi All,
With all these new phones being introduced by nokia,is it true that communicator will never come to the level of a 3G phone???????The new communicator should have a more powerful camera and all the features of a 3G phone as using a smaller phone after the communicator is unthinkable but, going by the features included in the new phones one gets a feeling that "Communicator" might take a back seat.IS NOKIA GOING TO LAUNCH A 9500 COMMUNICATOR SOON?IF YES THEN WHEN?

arabian, seraphim is trying to say that a series 60 device is not just defined by its software but also its hardware.
a series 80 device needs a keyboard with a joypad and four soft option keys. it also needs a large screen.
if the next communicator were to be based on s60, we woul not be garaunteed a qwerty keyboard, large screen or the same amount of soft option buttons. so it wouldnt be as user friendly...
i do not want to be restricted to the s60 interface.
The S60 3rd Edition does already support scalable user interfaces.
This most likely means we are going to see an S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2 (or 3) with the extra functionality required by communicator users.
The new Communicator will surely be an UMTS phone and I'd expect other changes as well. But only time will tell.
Who told you that the next Communicator will have no keyboard?
S60 3rd Edition platform supports many different screen sizes and many different input methods, including a full QWERTY keyboard. It's small in E70 but can be shaped/sized differently - the size and shape of a keyboard doesn't depend on the operating system.
The reason to go with just one platform has to do with development costs and support. The S60 platform does not offer anything that the S80 does not, except for more third-party applications. But the S60 platform will have to be extended a lot to incorporate the features of the S80 platform.
S60 3rd Edition is based on the newest Symbian OS versions. And this means new security system, faster and less resource hungry code thanks to new compiler generating new binary format, new kernel, support for new more powerful ARM processors (like the OMAP2420 running at 330 MHz and including hardware 2D/3D graphics accelerator, support for 3-4 MPix camera, TV out etc. used in Nokia N93) and many other things. The current S80 hardware and software is VERY outdated compared to the latest S60 models like N93 or E70.
I wouldn't be surprised if we are going to see the same communicator model in two variants: one with a camera and one without a camera. Nokia did that distinction for the Nokia E50 as this phone can contain a camera depending on the market.
I was told that new Communicators will be shown only in 2007.

  • The new communicator

    Hello guys
I was just wondering will there be a new communicator cell phone that will be produced soon
I have 2 nokia phones now the E90 and the N82, lately a friend of mine talked about the samsung omnia cell, so I searched a bit to find that it's not a bad device to purchase, switching it with N82, but then again after going to a Cellphone reseller, he introduced me to a touch phone by nokia not sure off the model but it's an express music, so did my searches again to find that there will be a nokia N97 that looked even better from recent mentioned devices, so I wondered if there will be a communicator that will beat all those, am a communicator fan, I love my E90, it's the best so far, so why not upgrade to a new communicator.
    So any idea guys?

Thanks, Jeff! I'm familiar with the obstacles of using the Lithium search engine, as I've worked with Lithium in the past. I have already been in contact with them with suggestions for improving it. And I'm happy to raise more suggestions to them if you have any.

I will definitely make sure Matt sends that package out soon! I'm not sure how you've been able to pass through any woods without your shrubbery.
Don't blame NI!  I'm sure the reason is Tim cranked out the last few kPosts so fast the srubbery didn't have enough time to grow!

  • New Community Manager?

    I just spotted a NigelE who's a Community Manager.
But no mention of him here Has Kerry gone? Are there now two managers? Would you care to introduce yourself Nigel? Do you intend to make any improvements to the BTCare forums?

  • New Community - Kudos = Points ?

In the posting about the transition to the new community the post mentions the removal of Kudos.
Since this forum and all other Lithium based forums do not display the number of solutions a user has provided I'm curious to know how this new points system will work.  Specifically, will my current Kudos be converted into points for the new points system?  Will we see a highest points list on the side of each forum to know who the top contributors are?

Ann154, there is no switching to the full version of this forum, as long as Jive's servers (?) read that it is a mobile phone that is connecting to it.  If you change your phone's browser settings to desktop, it may work.  On my Sensation, I get the desktop version of the T-Mobile forum by default.  I don't know why, but one day, it just changed to full desktop version on its own.  I did something strange that I don't remember to get the mobile version back on the Sensation.  Most of my other phones will not pull the desktop version.
It's weird that once I had used the mobile version, I appreciated it for certain things, but I didn't like it.  Once I lost the mobile version on my Sensation, I scambled to get it back.  Some of our old forum regulars don't participate in our forum anymore because of the new layout.  Others participate, but less frequently.
My biggest gripes with the desktop version are the lack of jump to first unread message feature and the fact that if you read a post on the phone, it will not show up as read on the desktop version.
Oh!  Usernames need to be restricted to one case.  If VZW doesn't do that, Ann154 and ann154 could be two different people.

  • New community layout

Does anyone else but me think this new community layous stinks?

My experience (tried it a few times) is that OS 9 with IE 5 or even Mozilla can not access Apple Support Communities at all, so I doubt any earlier/older OS's and machines. When I tried, a page loaded, but there was nothing useable on it and what was there was blown out laterally. Worse, it locked up the browser when I tried to go elsewhere or just quit the browser.
I've seen reports that even late-model G4s running mid-range OSX versions do not have enough horsepower to do well here.

  • NEW: Community Leader Programme

    Hi everyone
If you've visited the forums regularly, you’re probably noticed one thing:  there are a number of members who are unusually dedicated to helping others, and to maintaining a positive, productive atmosphere.
To acknowledge these members – and to help you recognise and thank them – we’ve developed a programme called the Community Leader Programme.  It’s something we’re introducing as a beta effort starting today, 9th November.
More information on the programme is below.  I hope you’ll join me in congratulating these guys for being selected as our initial Community Leaders.
    Thx
    Kerry
    Community Leader Programme FAQs
What is the Community Leader Programme?
The Community Leader Programme (CLP) recognises members in the community who help other members in a positive way.
    When will the programme begin?
The programme will begin as a beta trial on 9th November 2010.
How long will the beta trial last for?
The beta will last three to six months.  At the conclusion of the beta, we’ll review the experience and determine whether we can continue it as an ongoing programme.
    How are members chosen?
As you know, we have a ranking structure that focuses primarily on the volume and quality of contributions.  Member contributions are already recognised in this way.  The CLP will allow us to additionally recognise those who embody the spirit of the community – a friendly and constructive environment for BT customers to help other BT customers.
    Who has been chosen?
Starting today, you’ll notice that some members now have a badge against their name that looks like this:
We’ve chosen 7 members to initially participate as Community Leaders for the beta programme.
What’s in it for the CLP members?
In addition to the recognition that participants will receive for being Community Leaders, we hope to provide other privileges that will help leaders become more informed and valuable to the community. These privileges many include invitations to beta programs, opportunities to collaborate with each other and with BT experts, or other benefits.  This is an optional scheme which carries no obligation to join or duties once membership is granted. It is simply a “thank you” for efforts as helpers and role models.
Who is eligible for the programme?
Anyone who is not a BT employee is eligible.  There is no minimum time requirement for participation, although of course a member would need to be active over time to develop a record of positive participation.
If I’m not chosen for the beta, can I be a Community Leader in the future?
Yes!  If we adopt the program beyond the beta period, we hope to regularly refresh the group in order to recognise as many worthy members as possible.

  • The NEW Community VCDX Mentoring Process!

    Fellow Community Members,
I am proud to provide a much-needed update on what has become known as “VCDX Mentoring”.  Many people have come to Karl and I asking about being assigned a mentor.  After much consideration, feedback, and discussions with the new VCDX Advisors, we have decided to do something a little different.  We believe the mentoring program will be more fluid, adaptable, and successful if it is managed by you, the community, rather than owned and controlled by VMware.  This is intended to help mentor you through the VCDX Defense Process assuming you have already completed your VCAP/VCIX Test Pre-Requisites.  It's entirely up to the mentor, but this is what we've recommended to them.
    Why the change?
Mentoring is a personal relationship, initiated and developed by one individual asking another to be their mentor.  It’s not something that should be “assigned”.
The two people involved (mentor and "mentee") can ultimately foster the relationship as they determine best.
The VCDX program leaders can focus VMware resources more on the strategy and execution of the program’s success and growth.
    Who are the available Mentors?
We will provide a list of VCDX holders who have volunteered to help out as mentors.  This is something they are doing on their own time, and they will ultimately decide who and how many people they can mentor. You can find the up to date mentors on the NEW VCDX Directory using the "Mentor" flag.
VCDX holders interested in volunteering their time as a mentor can be added to the list simply by enabling the check box on their profile through the new directory's self service option.  There is NO TIME limit on when current VCDX's can sign up to be a mentor.  I want to thank those that have already stepped up to be a volunteer prior to this announcement.  Each of the volunteers have agreed to follow some very basic Mentoring Guidelines.
UPDATED Note:  It has always been stated in the Panelist Code of Conduct than panelists are not available as mentors.  This is also documented in the Mentoring Guidelines above.  However, we are looking into a possible change to the policy whereas "retired" panelists after a certain time may become eligible to be mentors.  However, until that time any and all previous and current panelists are identified in the directory and cannot enable the self service tag to be mentor.  We hope to have more on this in the coming months now that the directory is live.
How does having a Mentor help?
All mentors have been through this process. They understand what you will experience and the work involved. They have been given some basic guidelines as to what they should and should not be doing as mentors, as well as “Mentoring 101” materials to help them.  Having a mentor is having someone to guide you; they are not there to do it for you.  It’s entirely up to the mentor to provide the level of guidance they feel is appropriate.
How do I get a mentor?
That’s 100% up to you! You simply need to look at the New VCDX Directory, filter for mentors, and decide whom YOU think you might connect with best.  The relationship between you and the person you are asking for help is very personal.  Maybe you know someone on the list, maybe you greatly respect someone on the list. Drop them an email and start the discussions!
We hope this will grow on its own through the community. We will make sure the list of available mentor volunteers stays updated.  We will also post new mentoring resources as they become available that will help the mentor and in turn help you.  Outside of that, it’s between you and your new mentor to decide what works best to help you succeed.

Since the new VCDX Directory is now live with the 'Mentor" flag available, we'd like to ensure that everyone signed up on the previous spreadsheet is tagged as a mentor.  Going forward that is going to be the system of record and we will retire the sign up form and spreadsheet.

  • WE NEED INTERNET SERVICE IN OUR NEW COMMUNITY!

I bought a house in a new developed community, well I've been here for 5 years now so it's not new anymore, and unitl now we don't have verizon fios in our area; specifically INTERNET.  Why?????

There are many ways to get Internet and not just from Verizon.  Everthing from Satelite, Wireless 3G/4G, Cable, DUN, DSL, etc.  I suggest exploring your options.
    As a side note...
My parents have been on BellAtlatic and subsequently Verizon for 50+ years.  FiOS is in the communities that surround them and when I got FiOS I asked about my parent's location and was told "they were heading that way".  That was almost three years ago and they still can't get FiOS, only 3Mb/s DSL, and they are only three miles away from me.

  • New Community Support Forums

I am trying to reply to a contributor "likeabird" who kindly responded to a post.
There is only some improvement in the new Support Forums. I now have a "reply" option, but there is no response when pointing to it.
Must be getting old. I'm forgetting which direction to whistle, point in the right direction........and more, to get things to operate correctly. Perhaps should hold breath and count to ten a few times longer.
I'll try directly from the web on the main PC. Looks like a reformat or a new laptop. This one is old by today's standards at 4 years. Yet more expense to keep up with developments.

    Thanks for your response.
I have finally muddled through the procedures on my fast Windows 7 HP desktop.
I have not installed iTunes on this PC as I want to keep things separate.
It all seems to improve when setting the support website to compatiblity mode. I still don't think that the support website is fully developed. Apple wiould not be pleased to read this. Only time will tell.
I made the mistake of upgrading to IE9 on both computers.
10 years of calendar records are now fully functional on the IPOD touch-even if the search function is very limited.
