New computer - 300+ songs I purchased won't transfer!!!!!
Help! In anticipation of buying a new computer, I copied my I-Tunes library on to an external hard drive. I have now loaded my library on to my new computer. After connecting my I-Pod, only about half my songs transferred, and I got a message saying that 300+ songs (that I paid for by the way!) cannot be transferred because they were on another computer. I assume I-Tunes thinks I'm sharing songs, but surely Apple realizes that people buy new computers! It's too late for me to use my I-Pod "in reverse" to transfer the songs on to my new computer (and nowhere in my I-Pod manual did it suggest that I needed to do so). How can I retrieve all these songs I paid for?????
Have you authorized your new computer?

New macbook pro... purchases won't transfer?
So I had all my 1600 or something songs on my iphone. I transferred them all to my new macbook using a 3rd party program, then I synced my iphone with my new computer, causing it to delete all the old songs. Then I tried to transfer all the same music back onto my iphone, and it only transferred the 1100 songs that I did not purchase from itunes, and said it was not authorized to transfer the ones that I bought, even though that's completely ridiculous because they were all on my iphone 10 minutes before that.
is there any way I can somehow "authorize" these purchases to be transferred back onto my iphone?
and on an unrelated tangent, the sheer multitude of inconveniences created by itunes superbly anal "don't share music because it is eeeevil" attitude, when I am not even trying to share music between me and other people, but simply between my own various mac devices, has influenced me to never buy another piece of itunes music again. they need some serious reconsideration in their policies, upon realization that they're not only making themselves inferior to other music sites in terms of cost, but also in terms of user-friendly qualities. FAIL itunes, fail.MissInkFTW wrote:

My old computer died just after I transferred iTunes via external HD. When I transferred the content from the HD to the new computer, most songs won't play. Message is "Can't identify source". Sharing was on in the old computer when it died.
Is there no ANSWER TO THIS PROBLEM?

My laptop was stolen. How do I sync my old iphone to a new computer without losing my purchases (music & apps)?
One of the reasons to include your iTunes library with your computer's backup along with all other important data that is kept separate from your laptop - not carried in the same case, etc.
iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store from an iDevice, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store only.
First you need to authorize your new computer with your iTunes account with iTunes. With your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.
If you are in the US, you can do this now as well.

i purchased songs via my ipod touch. when I sync'd my ipod touch with my computer, the songs I purchased disappeared into a black hole... how do I get them back without having to repurchase?
On your iPod Touch, open the iTunes app. There should be tab named "purchased", which shows all your purchase history. Choose the "Not on this iPod" tab and you'll get a list of purchased products that are not on your device. Hope this helped.

I downloaded photoshop extended two years ago on my old computer, how can I download it again to my new computer? I already purchased it as well.
Download it from exactly the same place you downloaded it previously. If you purchased it from Adobe, you link is still available. If you don't have the email confirmation of your purchase, then log into Adobe.com and go to your account page to look at your Orders.

I've just got a new computer does any one know how to transfer my song to my new computer. I've installed itunes but can't seem to transfer the songs.
you can use home sharing.
or, assuming you have all your media files in the default location, copy the entire iTunes folder (not just the iTunes music or media folder) from the old to the exact same location on the new machine.
you can either use your network or an external HD for that. -
I cannot find a way to authorize my new computer to play previously purchased music from itunes. The directions say to click on STORE menu, but I don't see that option.
Go to the Store menu item on the menu bar, and choose Authorize This Computer, as shown below.
If by any chance you don't see the menu bar (File, Edit, View, Controls, Store, Help), first enable it by using CTRL+B. -

New computer and songs on old one
I just got a new computer, partly due to the fact that something was wrong with the one I had. I couldn't download songs from the computer to the ipod or burn CDs from itunes. Is there any way that I can get the songs from my old computer on this one without using the ipod?
You can install the old computer's Hard Drive in the new computer or set up a network and transfer everything.
Personally, I'd install the old computer's Hard Drive just for the extra space, unless you'll still be using the old computer for other things ... in which case, I'd set up a small network ... and not just for this, a network is useful for many file-sharing and associated uses. -
