New computer - all songs erased from ipod

We recently got a new laptop. I was attempting to download itunes software and link their website while my ipod nano was charging. When doing this, all songs were wiped out on my ipod! Does anyone know if this can be saved? Can the files be found again? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! THANKS

Due to the earthquake, we are having a problem on doing search on Google, but I have heard that there are some softwares may help to recover the songs

  • I just installed itunes on new computer and songs disappeared from Ipod

I just reinstalled itunes on a computer that had a bug and was cleaned up and cleared out.  When I reinstalled itunes and it sync'd all my songs disappeared from my ipod. how do I get them back

    That is correct.
You should use your backup copy of your computer to put everything abck on the coputer, then you would sync them to your ipod.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup copy of your computer, njot good, then you can redownload some itunes purchases in some countries:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • All songs erased from ipod and itunes

I'm trying to help a friend and learn in the process. When he turned on his ipod all the songs were gone and when itunes was opened to see about putting the 3000+ songs back on to the ipod the library had disappeared as well. He said he hadn't done anything, and he didn't back up any of the music. Is there anyway to rescue all of these songs from either itunes or the ipod? We bought and ran a program called Recover My Ipod, but it didn't work and I'm not to sure about it's reliability. Any help at all would be great it's windows xp.

Don't give up on looking for the songs.
You can use Explorer to search your computer for missing songs.
On the Start menu, click "Search".
    Select "All Files and folders".
In the "All or part of the file name" field, type the song name and then click "Search".
If you see the file you are looking for in the Search Results window, you can add it back into your iTunes library.
See: How to add songs from your hard drive to iTunes.
If they truly are gone from both the iPod and iTunes, have a read of this post which offers some hope.

  • All songs erased from iPod, still located on i Tunes

I recently deleted some songs from my iTunes. I then deleted the playlist "iPod selection" where songs that went on my iPod were located. I can't seem to get the songs currently on my iTunes to download onto the iPod. Tried to follow the directions on the support page but cannot locate the "Summary" tab. How can I manually put the songs from my iTunes back onto the iPod.

*Tried to follow the directions on the support page but cannot locate the "Summary" tab*
Connect your iPod to your computer. It should be appearing in the source pane which is the long pane on the left of the iTunes window where you see the icons for Movies, Music, Playlists etc. When you connect your iPod it should appear under the heading "Devices". Devices is only visible when an external source such as your iPod or a CD is mounted. Click on the iPod icon to highlight it, the will bring up the preference tabs in the main pane to the right, Summary is the very first tab.
*I then deleted the playlist "iPod selection" where songs that went on my iPod were located.*
You get this problem when the option 'Sync Music - Selected playlists' is being used to sync your iPod and then the playlist it has been updating from is deleted. Most people use this setting when the iPod is smaller than the iTunes library. If your library is larger than the capacity of your iPod, iTunes by default makes a new playlist called something along the lines of "Owner's iPod". If you for any reason delete it, you will not be able to sync your iPod.
Open iTunes and create a playlist to update your iPod from, call it -iPod to make it the first playlist in Sources. You can make it a smart playlist that picks the songs for you or just a normal one and drag whatever content you want to have into the playlist. If you are making a smart playlist limit it to just less than the size of your iPod (for example 3700MB for a 4G iPod Nano. Now connect your iPod and when it appears in the Source list click on the iPod icon to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. Go to the Music tab and choose Sync Music and the Selected playlists radio button. Choose the playlist you just made from the selection and click Apply. You can also sync from any existing playlists by choosing the same setting, you just need to make sure that the size of the playlists don't exceed the capacity of your iPod:
iTunes: Creating playlists of your favorite songs
How to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes
To make a random playlist go to File>New Smart Playlist.
    Uncheck "Match the following rule"
Check "Limit to" put "3700" in the number box, choose "MB" from the first list box, choose "Random" from the next list box. Check "Live Updating"
When you want to change the selection in the smart playlist just delete everything in it and it will add a new selection. When you want to change the normal playlist just delete out what you don't want and drag in a new selection.

  • Songs erased from ipod

my ipod froze, and then after i reset it, all the songs were gone. this happened once before, and that time after resetting it a second time, the songs came back. no luck this time, and the songs aren't saved on i tunes. any help is greatly appreciated!!

Help - My songs erased from my ipod and my itunes list - one of two things happened here - I am hooked up via cable internet through adelphia, on the day this all occurred, my internet was down, our TV was on the fritz - when I contacted Adelphia, I was advised that they had to do work in my area, however, he advised that it had been corrected and there really was no reason why I should not be on line - he took me through some steps and had me unplug the line from my computer out of the cable modem and into the Linksy router - I now have one blue telephone/cable plug that was unplugged from the router just hanging out there -I was then able to get on the internet, however, when I did, my itunes library was empty and when I go went into my music file (under documents)and pull up my library, it comes up as empty - I never backed up my computer, it is a home computer and because I am ot really not exact;u computer savy, I don't know what the heck I'm doing - the I-pod itself tells me that it only has the 13 songs on it that I just downloaded to it for sanity purposes yesterday, otherwise, all of my memory is free and clear - all songs and itunes are lost and all library and specialty library's are empty. I tried to reset it and this did nothing.
One of my main questions would be will itunes resend me the songs that I had downloaded to them and will I have to pay for it? Doesn't itunes have a back up of my library and can't they sail them back into my computer for re-download? I cannot find a telephone number or e-mail address/link to actually get person to answer my questions.
Please help me - I am so upset over this - I just got done spending over $300.00 in new music from itunes, I am so so upset.

  • Clearing all songs/data from Ipod

    Hello
Is there an easy way to clear an Ipod Nano so that is has nothing on it - I bought one off of Craigs list that I want to give to someone but it still has some songs on there from the previous person. Is there a way to just 'clear' everything off so that it's like when you buy it brand new and there is nothing on there? I would appreciate any insight on how to do this. Thank you.

    Hello EDDG,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
Restore the iPod through iTunes. This will erase all the content from the iPod and set it back to its original default settings.
Here are the steps on how to perform a restore if need be.

  • All Songs Missing From iPod

Somebody PLEASE HELP! I saved some new songs to my computer and was importing them into iTunes. I was then transferring the songs to my iPod nano. After the first 3 or 4 songs, I get an error message from iTunes (I do not remember it exactly, since I was trying to "fix" it). It said something about my "CJ DISK" (CJ my initials) file needed to be inserted or downloaded because of a "Volume" error. I had never seen this before and it was no longer allowing me to transfer songs. So then I clicked on my iPod file to see if the songs I downloaded were "whole". When I clicked on a song (any song) in my iPod list, it woudn't let me play any of the songs and then gave me another error message, which I also cannot recall exactly. I then ejected my iPod from iTunes, but the iPod was still acting as if it were connected. So then I "rebooted" the iPod (hold button on/off and held "menu" and "select" buttons). When the iPod rebooted, ALL of my songs were gone; All 180 of them!!! What just happened?? What do I do now??

If you're going to "help" people, then maybe you need
to work on your bedside manner. If you don't get
that you were rude in your response, then you can't
be helped and I personally don't want yours.
Oh that's nice, so you think it must be an honour for anyone to give you advice and help you?
If you want advice for free you have to accept personal manners more or less as long as the comment is within normal ettiquette. If you pay for the advice you of course can expect the form the advice is given but not if it's in a free forum like here.
I find it quite astonishing which demands some people posting for advice here have in others who give their knowledge in their spare time and without any form of payment whatsoever.
So maybe consider a little if the form you gave your answer maybe deters others from helping you.

  • Not all songs transfering from ipod to itunes?, Not all songs transfering from ipod to itunes?

Hi! Basically I have all of my music on my main pc, but I've just got a laptop and I would like to transfer my music from my itouch to my laptop, but it's only transferring 178 out of my 688 songs, does anyone know how to solve this?

The music sync is one way - computer to ipod.  The only exception is ituens purchases.
The ipod is not a backup device.  Copy everything from your old computer or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

  • All pictures erased from Ipod touch 4th gen?

4th Gen was replaced in US - back in UK tried to import new pictures taken on new ipod to laptop (didn't sync) - all pictures disappeared - could i get them back?

Not if the photos are not either on the iPod or the computer.  If they do not appear on either they are gone forever.  If they are in a previous iPod backup, restoring from that backup would get them back.

  • Repaced hard drive on my computer - all songs on my ipod.

My hard drive was replaced on my PC laptop. All my songs and audio books were lost. I currently have all my songs and audio pods on my ipod (60 g. ipod). When I sync next time can I
    1) Transfer my songs and audio back to my hard drive and
    2) If not can I keep whats on my ipod, and just sync and add new material to my ipod.
    Instructions would be appreciated.
    Thanks

Taking songs off ipod & getting them back on your computer.
Keeping your music in just one place is a bad idea. You might need to do a restore, which will wipe everything on it. OR, as you found out, you might have to replace your hard drive.

  • Recently got a new computer and installed itunes from external drive - all music shows up in the library, however when i click on a song i receive this message "the song could not be used because the original file could not be found".  What do i do?

I recently got a new computer and installed itunes from which had been saved onto an external drive - all music shows up in the library, however when I click on a song I receive this message "the song "abc" could not be used because the original file could not be found".  What can I do?

I was given the option to locate the file where the song is held. If so select "locate" and direct it to the folder / file where the song is and open it. itunes then will give you the option to use this process to update all of your library. OK that as this will do it automatically instead of doing them one by one. I hope this helps.
