New Computer and cant put music on my iPhone
I just got a new computer and it syncs to the computer but i cant sync my music !! Someone help me !! PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!
What does I can't sync my music mean?
In regards to iTunes content, an iPhone can be synced or manually managed with music and videos with an iTunes library on a single computer only and photos can be transferred from a single computer only. Unless you transferred your iTunes library from your old computer to your new computer - the iTunes named folder located in the Music folder placing the iTunes folder in the Music folder on your new computer with iTunes quit before doing so along with authorizing your new computer with your iTunes account with iTunes, when transferring iTunes content from another computer, all iTunes content transferred from a different computer will be erased from your iPhone first. The transfer of iTunes content is a one way transfer process only - it is not synced as contacts and calendar events can be kept synchronized with a supported application on your computer.

Recently bought a new computer and all my music appears in iTunes as well as on my computer in a saved folder. When I try to play the music in iTunes I get an error that reads"the song could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?" Hope you can help me solve this issue.
Thanks,
ShellybooThis happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout, or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .

I switched my music to a new computer and all the music doubled how can I get rid of 4500 duplicates
I switched my music to a new computer and all the music doubled how can I get rid of 4500 duplicates songs? Will Music Match get rid of the extras for me?
The iPod is not a storage device, all songs should reside on a computer and you can only sync to one machine. However, if these songs were purchased from iTunes you can reload them (see link). If not, and you have no backup, then they are gone.

using a new computer, and cannot download music without being able to answer security questions. Is there a way to reset these or get the answers sent to you for one's security questions.
If you have a rescue email address set up on your account then you can try going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you might see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
If you don't have a rescue email address set up then go to Express Lane and select 'iTunes' from the list of 'products' in the middle of the screen.
Then select 'iTunes Store', and on the next screen select 'Account Management'
Next choose 'iTunes Store Account Security' and fill in that you'd like your security questions/answers reset.
You should get an email reply within, I think, about 24 to 48 hours (and check your Spam folder as well as your Inbox) -
I just bought a HD movie and cant put it on my iphone 3gs. Will the non HD movie work on my phone? If so can I exchange them?
Use the Transfer Purchases command in the File menu of iTunes.

I have a new computer and lost music. I dont have a itunes backup. I have my music and downloaded music from Apple on my ipod touch. How do I put it to the new computer and then continue the normal process?
you transfer iTunes purchases to your computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
Transfer non-iTunes music by the info provided in this previous discussion:
Best iPod to PC
After you move the stuff to the new computer let iTunes erase your iPod and replace its contents with what is now in your iTunes library. -

So I have the iPhone 5. My old computer crashed so I ended up purchasing a new computer and re-installing and downloading all my old music and new music.
When I connect my iPhone to my new computer I can sync music but the old music still remains on my iPhone as well as the new music.
There's a lot on the phone that I don't want anymore but I can't seem to figure out how to erase it.
I don't want to restore the iPhone so I don't lose all my old messages and so forth.
I have all of the latest updates for the iPhone and well as iTunes.
If anyone has any answers to help that would be awesome!
Thanks.
- JordanHey there,
It sounds like you are not getting the prompt to erase and sync your device. This indicates to me that Manual Syncing was enabled on the original iTunes Library, and becuase of that it is also now enabled on your new computer.
This is changable in the Summary tab of iTunes when you have your device selected, and this article will help you do that:
Managing content manually on iPhone, iPad, and iPod
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1535
Configure iPhone, iPad, or iPod for manual management
To manually manage the content, follow these instructions:
Connect the device to your computer.
Open iTunes.
Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod. If your device isn't visible in the upper right corner of the screen, choose Library.
Click the Summary tab and select "Manually manage music and videos."
Click Apply.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

I got a new computer and my purchased music is gone
I got a new computer and used my ipod to transfer the music to the new computer however when I logged on to my new itunes all of my purchased music is gone. I called apple tech support and they want $30 to help me. Is there anyone out there that can help? I also don't have the old computer anymore...
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
TuneJack Windows Only
iPod2PC Windows Only
iGadget Windows Only
iDump Windows Only
SharePod Windows Only
iRepo Mac and Windows
iPodRip Mac & Windows
YamiPod Mac and Windows
Music Rescue Mac & Windows
iPodCopy Mac and Windows
There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
One last thing, if your iPod is set to update automatically you need to take care connecting to a different iTunes. You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7.3 or later installed hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys together. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer: iTunes - Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows
When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that way you can continue to use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed above your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod
Whichever retrieval method you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay. -
Hi,
I've been trying to upload music from my PC to my Iphone for a few days now and I always get the same message. It says I need to synch my phone with my PC for the first time and by doing that, It will erase everything from my phone. It's the first time I synch my phone with a PC and it says I have to synch with a NEW PC. I don't want to lose everything in my phone because I have my phone for over a year now and it's full of important things in it. Is there a way I can put music in my Iphone without having to synch ?? Like the older phone that you could just open the phone and drag music in it, and it was done. Why make this so complicated when it could be soooo easy ????
Thanks for the helpDo you have Sidebar ON?
iTunes > View > Show Sidebar.
Connect and select iPhone in iTunes Sidebar under DEVICES, choose the Music tab on the right, select Sync Music and whatever music you the on iPhone. Click Apply (bottom right) -

I have a new computer and i need to sync my phone to update, but i'm afraid if I do I will lose alot of stuff....is this correct?
Third time I've answered this question today.
The BEST way is to copy your data from your old computer to your new computer, or, if you don't have the old computer anymore the backup that you should have made of it before retiring it. If neither of these is possible see this user tip: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141 -
