New computer and Photoshop 7

I realize Photoshop 7 is ancient, but it's the only version I have with a serial number.
First question:
If I install Photoshop 7 on a new Mac, will I then be able to upgrade to CS3, even though 7 doesn't work with Leopard?
Second question:
Currently I have CS on an iBook G4, but I no longer have the serial number. Will I be able to install the CS3 upgrade, without the CS serial number, or will I need to uninstall CS, install PS 7, and then install the CS3 upgrade?

If the software was used to upgrade to CS4 you can't use it. The serial was used in the upgrade path already and will do you no good. Adobe has gone to specific upgrade paths so if CS3 is not an upgrade from PS7 it will do you no good (you should check with Adobe on this, I know this is how the Creative Suites were made). Also the owner must provide a letter of destruction of Photoshop on his computer. When he sells you CS3 he is selling you the complete license for all the versions he has. All versions he has are still only one license.

if you have a win os you should have dl'd an exe and a 7z file.
put both in the same directory and double click the exe.

If you are unable to deactivate the earlier installation, you wil need to phone customer support and ask them to reset your activations.

Welcome to Adobe Forums.
You can use the same subscription on 2 machines. If you want to use it on a 3rd machine you can deactivate
Photoshop from this machine. Please follow the below article on how to deactivate.

I assume you realise that 11 is not the current version, which is now up to 12

And if yes, that you had 11 installed on your last computer? Did that come on a disk or download? If disk, have you now lost that disk?
If yes, and you registered your software, log on to your Adobe account, and find My Orders (or similar). You may find the download link and your serial number there.

There are two steps when entering a serial number:
When you enter it in the 24-digit field, you should see a green checkmark. If you see a red x, you may have mis-typed the number, as Ben pointed out, it could be for a suite instead of a standalone product.
If it takes the number and installs, then activation is the next step. If it fails to activate, you may have exceeded your activations or the number might have been retired.
In that case, contact Customer Care with proof of purchase.

It appears that you have the CS. What new OS do you have. If it is Win 8.1, you may have to purchase a new version of Acrobat for that system. Folks have succeeded with AA 8.1 on Win 7, but I have not heard of any successful installs on Win 8.1. As for the issue you have with the new OS, you do have to follow the CS install process that is different than the stand-alone Acrobat (there are some posts that discuss the process if you search).

Have you updated your iTunes on your computer? WIth a device running iOS7, you need iTunes 11.
When you removed iTUnes, did you see something named 'apple mobile device support' or something like it? (The exact name varies from operating system to operating system). If you see that, uninstall it too. That's the drivers for your iPhone and they should self-install when you plug your device in.
If all that is fine, have you checked your cable and USB port? a malfunctioning cable can keep you from syncing.
