I have my my original itunes on my old computer that doesnt accept CD's anymore and My new computer has some of the old songs and some new songs. How do I get all my old content on the new computer and still keep the new content? I also have a few different ipods and I want to have all the songs on all of them but it wont let me. I have read millions of the help articles and still cant figure it out. When I plug one ipod in it says it is going to delete all the old info to sync and cant just add the songs? Frustrated please help!!

Copy everything from the old computer or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

  • After successfully importing my bookmarks through Firefox Sync from my old to new computer, can I purge the old computer and still have the bookmarks on the new

I want to upgrade my computer and did a Windows Easy Transfer to my new one. My Firefox bookmarks did not show up on my new computer so I used Firefox Sync-which worked fine. Now that I have the bookmarks on the new computer, can I erase the old computer and still have the bookmarks on the new one.

First, disconnect your old computer from Firefox Sync so you don't accidentally delete the data from sync, but then yes you should be good to go.

Seriously, I doubt that your answer helped Erik.  He has two issues.
He installed the new program and has a double icon folders with software. One for the new &  one for the old.  (I have this same problem.)
He must have attempted to open one of the products and no longer see his personal settings transferred over.  (The install will ask to have those settings migrating, but you have to accept it. eh, I could be wrong; but, that what i remembered doing.
    I concur with his first.
However, i can not get any of my products to work.  Ie. have to constantly click on icon to open; once open i get a unexpected error and have to close. I'm on a mac pro w/ latest os system.
In addition, I have tried to uninstall the older by clicking on the application's manager icon.; Unfortunately, it shuts down at each attempt.  Therefore, I am unable to un-install the old product or the new.
Possibly, we were hoping that the new product would be simply updated if an old recent was already installed.
Instead, the installation simply created a new icon and the new folder with product.

  • New Computer - Can't Access My Old Music

The computer I was using when I first purchased my ipod died. I've recently purchased a new computer and it seems as if all my music died with my old computer. When I plug up to the new computer, it seems that I have to erase all my music and start over. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

    Hello there,
If you still have all of your music on your iPod, you could copy it over to your new library on your new computer. There are several ways you can pull the music off your iPod and onto iTunes.
There is a very direct method, which I personally prefer, but there are also numerous third party applications, which will help you accomplish the task as well. The link below provides step-by-step instructions for the direct method as well as a few third party applications if you choose to go that route instead. You can also do a simple google search for "copy music from iPod to computer" and you should receive a number of sites that can help you out.
Just make sure that when you have your iPod plugged into your new computer, that you don't hit "Erase and Sync." Hope this helps.
Also, if you have any purchased music, make sure to authorize your new computer by heading to the Store drop down menu and choosing "Authorize computer."

  • TS1363 How can i update my old ipod and add my new one.

I have had an older ipod nano and i just recently got a new one. How can i add my new ipod nano to my current itunes account or do i have to have a whole new one? If i do have to have a new account how can i get my songs that i have already purchased to the new nano? I am so confused.

Connect the iPod nano to the computer the exact same way you set up the old one. You don't need to create another Apple ID, iTunes Store account, or iTunes library.

    Regards,

There are two methods you could use to perform the upgrade but first, back up your computer. As X42.. suggests, a bootable clone is a very good idea - use SuperDuper! or CarbonCopyCloner to make an exact duplicate of your computer's hard drive. This can be used as a backup and can also be used to boot into Snow Leopard should you need to do so.
To upgrade to Lion (1) download Lion and let it upgrade your computer. Your data and old programs will remain on the computer untouched. During the upgrade process Lion may find some plug-ins or programs that are definitely incompatible and put them into a folder labeled Incompatible Programs. (2) restart your computer from the clone backup you made and download Lion. Now use the installer to erase the computer's hard drive and install Lion on the computer's drive. Then use Setup Manager to migrate your data and programs.
In either case, as X42.. said, you may have some incompatible software which needs to be upgraded and some may no longer be supported. That's one of the advantages of having the Snow Leopard bootable external drive. I found that the simple upgrade (1) worked for nearly every computer I upgraded. I had one computer that required the erase and install (2) method.

  • Changin 2 new computer can i move across al info 2 my new computer plz help

    Welcome to the discussions,
A manual backup will help. Here's how to:
Make sure your computer is authorized in iTunes. Disable autosync in itunes, connect your phone, right click on it in the device list and choose backup.
This will save data, pictures taken with the phone and settings to itunes.
See what's included in this backup here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Transfer your purchases the same way to copy all apps and bought media from the Store to your computer.
Set up at least one contact and event on your computer to be able the merge your calendars and contacts after your phone got wiped during the first sync.
The rest of the data can be restored from the backup you made.
How to back up and restore: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
How to download apps for free again: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0
After that, don't forget to include iTunes into your backup routine: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1382

  • If I buy a new ipad, can I restore my old apps and other thing on from my old ipad, to my new one ?

    Hi,
I plan to sell my ipad 2 and I was wondering do my apps and films ect... Get stored on my iTunes ? So when I buy a new ipad I can use the same i tunes and upload them back on the new ipad.
    Thanks.

If they are not already in your computer's iTunes library then you can copy your iTunes purchases from your iPad via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases.
As long as they remain available in the store then apps can also be re-downloaded via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes - depending upon what country that you are in, and whether they remain in the store, you may also be able to re-download music, films and tv shows via that link.
You can also backup your current iPad and in the future restore that backup onto a new iPad : backups and restores. Note that the backup doesn't contain your apps or media (films, music etc), it just contains the content of your apps e.g. game progress, documents etc, so you should still do the Transfer Purchases

My current computer is dying so I'm about to buy a new iMac, can I transfer my existing Lightroom5 & Elements12 to the new computer?

Don't know about Elements but yes, with Lightroom just download the relevant version to your new computer and enter your serial number.

  • Got new computer, can't get my old purchased music

I bought a new mac recently, how do I get the music I purchased on my account from the last computer on my new itunes?

If you still have the old computer or a back-up of the purchases you simply need to copy the purchases over from the discs or drive they are currently on:
iTunes for Mac: How to copy purchases between authorized computers
iTunes for Windows: How to copy purchases between authorized computers
If you didn't make a back-up of your purchases to restore from (as you are advised to do) then I'm sorry to say that the policy on lost purchases is that you have to pay to download them again:
"Once a Product is purchased and you receive the Product, it is your responsibility not to lose, destroy, or damage the Product, and Apple shall be without liability to you in the event of any loss, destruction, or damage." iTunes Store: Purchased content can be downloaded only once
You could try contacting the iTunes Music Store Customer Service and you might be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download. There have been occasional reports in the iTunes forum of this happening, however just be aware that they are not under any obligation to do so. If you click on this link you'll be able to email your query: iTMS Customer Service
If you have an iPod that still has the purchases on it the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
