Easiest way is to copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder from old computer to /Music/ on the new computer.
This will copy everything (ratings, playlists, date added, artwork, etc.)
Then simply open iTunes. No need to import or do anything else.

i just bought a new computer, can i transfer itunes from my old computer to my new computer with my music in it or do i have to sync all my cds again

    Hi,
A painless way to do it ...
From your Old Computer... Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..
Backup iTunes to an External Drive

  • After successfully importing my bookmarks through Firefox Sync from my old to new computer, can I purge the old computer and still have the bookmarks on the new

I want to upgrade my computer and did a Windows Easy Transfer to my new one. My Firefox bookmarks did not show up on my new computer so I used Firefox Sync-which worked fine. Now that I have the bookmarks on the new computer, can I erase the old computer and still have the bookmarks on the new one.

First, disconnect your old computer from Firefox Sync so you don't accidentally delete the data from sync, but then yes you should be good to go.

  • New Computer - can't transfer library

I have a new computer, the old one is out of action. Any advice I can see for synching my IPod with new computer requires access to the old on which isn't an option for me. Oddly, I can synch purchased music but not non purchased - does anyone have suggestions? Thanks, Scotlad

The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows. The procedure is a bit involved and it won't recover playlists also it was written for Windows XP so will probably require adapting for Vista. If you're interested it's posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. This is just a selection, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

  • New computer - can't transfer old itunes, problems importing cd's

Sorry the subjec area has multiple topics, but i've got issues. Long story short: computer completely broke. Can't even view screen to try and restore anything or remove programs. Now have HP dv6000. Since I can't move old itunes acct over to new computer, I've resorted to importing all my cd's again. For some reason, some cd's don't even come up when i put them in the drive. No message, no warning - nothing. I insert the cd and it just spins and spins. Is this an itunes issue or a HP issue? Is it because some cd's don't allow you to copy to more than one computer?
    Any suggestions?

You should probably post in the itunes forum, since it appears your question has little or nothing to do with ipods.
Where is your back up? Did you not maintain a back up of your music/pics/docs/etc?
You can copy a cd on as many computers as you like. Your problem is very likely not an itunes issue.

  • Help! New computer, trying to transfer from iphone/ipod to computer!

Please can someone help me, my hard drive on my old computer is gone, we had a power surge and it blew and they told me that all my documents, pics and music is gone.  I now have a new computer and I am trying to transfer all of my photos and music to my new computer but I can't sync my phone (I havent tried my ipod yet).  It keeps saying that I have no record of a previous backup.  I was using my iphone and ipod as storge and back up of all pics and songs.  I managed to transfer all my purchased songs to my new itunes, but how do I transfer stuff from my iphone/ipod to my computer like playlists, photos, and music that was not purchased through itunes!!  Is this possible?  I would appreciate any help!  Thanks.

  • IPod on new computer - can't transfer new songs to iPod

    Hi
I've just got a new PC and have downloaded iTunes. When I connected my iPod it said it was already synced with another iTunes library (ie on my old computer).
I managed to transfer all my purchased music from my iPod to iTunes on my new computer. But I've bought some new songs from the iTunes store and I now can't seem to transfer them to my iPod.
Anybody know how I can fix this please?
    Kind regards

For difficulties transferring iTunes purchases, see this.
iPod does not play content purchased from the iTMS.

  • Getting a new computer. can i transfer my itunes?

Hey im getting a new computer and was wondering if its possible to transfer my i tunes from my old one (its is still working just really bogged down) to the new computer.

yes,i think i can figure it out by the third party tool. what i am using is Aniosoft itunes to itunes. It enables you to copy any itunes library to the storage devices if you like and then recover them with no any differece including its formerly playlists ,your personal settings and other content into the new computer or another computer just a simple click 'restore from the folder' that you can select by your preference. For you case,i think you can backup your itunes of the old computer to a memory stick and then transfer the backup database to your new one.You can have a free trial for Aniosoft itunes to itunes before you can buy one.Anyway luck to you.

  • Moving to new computer, can Lightroom transfer?

I am away from home and I am transferring to a new computer. I currently have lightrom on my laptop and want to put it on this new desktop. I know my copy of the software allows for installation on two computers. My problem is I don't have my DVD copy of Lightroom with me. It will be in storage for 6 months.
Could I download the trial version of Lightroom through this website and call Adobe to activate it with the information I have on my Laptop copy (or the fact that I am a registered user?)
Or am I stuck having to buy a new copy?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

You're in luck. Just download the app from the site, and you'll have 30 days to register it.
I've not had to call Adobe.
As to the transfer, you can do it lock, stock and barrel if your folder structure can be repeated on the new machine. If it can't, you might want to move images into the LR folder prior to migration.

  • New Computer - Can't Access My Old Music

The computer I was using when I first purchased my ipod died. I've recently purchased a new computer and it seems as if all my music died with my old computer. When I plug up to the new computer, it seems that I have to erase all my music and start over. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

    Hello there,
If you still have all of your music on your iPod, you could copy it over to your new library on your new computer. There are several ways you can pull the music off your iPod and onto iTunes.
There is a very direct method, which I personally prefer, but there are also numerous third party applications, which will help you accomplish the task as well. The link below provides step-by-step instructions for the direct method as well as a few third party applications if you choose to go that route instead. You can also do a simple google search for "copy music from iPod to computer" and you should receive a number of sites that can help you out.
Just make sure that when you have your iPod plugged into your new computer, that you don't hit "Erase and Sync." Hope this helps.
Also, if you have any purchased music, make sure to authorize your new computer by heading to the Store drop down menu and choosing "Authorize computer."

  • I have a new computer, can i upload from itouch to itunes

have a new computer and wont to upload from itouch to itumes library, can i do that

Sync is only oneway, from PC to your device.  Unless you have the music on your PC, iTunes is going to wipe out what you have on your device if you are syncing to a new library.
You can only transfer Purchased music over to Itunes on your PC.

As for you own music, you may have to use a third party software.  A good Free one is called Sharepod which you can download from Download.com here:

  • New Computer Can't transfer purchased music

I just got a new computer and successfully transferred my library using the consolidate library feature. However, now, when I purchase music, I can't put it on my iPod. I can only put the music that I transferred. How do I get my purchased music to my iPod?

    Hi Tyler,
Have you authorized your new PC to play your purchased music? If you haven't just try to play any of your purchased tunes on your new computer and you'll be prompted for your iTunes store ID and password, you have to be connected to the Internet. Just remember to Deauthorize your old computer if you'll be selling it or giving it away to someone you would not want to listen to your purchased music, remember you can only authorize 5 computers. To deauthorize, go to your old computer, go to Advanced > Deauthorize computer...
    good luck!
