New computer, can't see downloaded songs in iTunes

I have a new computer, IBM thinkpad and when I hooked up my ipod to the newly downloaded ITunes it recognized my ipod (name and all!) but I can't see my songs in the itunes window. I have hit "sync" it shows updating, but my songs still don't appear in the window.
The songs are ok on the ipod, at least i didn't delete them as i've done in the past!
Help!!!!

Just hit the arrow to the left side of the ipods name
in iTUnes, then select "Music" under the ipods name
That did it!!! Thank you so much!

Hi i have just imported lightroom photos I have been working on into new computer and cannot see any of the previous history

Importing is the wrong thing to do.
You need to transfer the  catalog file (and photos) from your old computer to the new computer, then in Lightroom open the catalog file.

  • I uploaded my album, but can't see individual songs on Itunes

    Hi,
I am an artist and uploaded this morning my album with Cdbaby to iTunes. I can find my album now in the iTunes Store, see the album cover and name, but can't see the songs that are in this album. So i can't see the tracklist, and also can't buy the songs. I can buy the album, and then i recieve all the songs. On Cdbaby i submitted that people are able to buy the songs seperatly. How come? Does anyone have any idea, i can't find anything!

  • Can I use downloaded songs from iTunes into iMovie and burn DVDs?

If I use downloaded songs from iTunes in iMovie, will I be able to make DVDs of my movie without losing music files?

    Hi A
Probably but iMovie and I guess iDVD is fussy about in what format the audio
is in. It should be 48k/.aiff
If You in iTunes make an audio CD with the material You need in Your movie
and then Use this CD in iMovie it will work.

  • Computer crashed, put hard drive in new computer, can't get all songs?

Here is the story. Had 700+ itunes songs on hard drive. That computer crashed. Bought a new computer and pulled out the hard drive from the crashed one and put it into the new computer. Got it working but itunes only recognizes 178 of the 700+ itunes songs. Cannot get the library to open in anything other than Internet Explorer. Can someone please provide some guidance on what I might be able to do to fix this issue? Thanks!

    What a nightmare!
How did you get the 178 songs into iTunes? Have you tried adding the missing ones?
What do you mean by this?

  • New computer, ipod won't download songs

I just got a new computer, and I downloaded the Pantera itunes essentials, but they won't go on my ipod. How do I fix this? Thanks.
Also I have some Maiden and Priest songs on my ipod that aren't on the new itunes, how do I get them on there? Syncing doesn't work.

OK, your seem to have a more basic problem. The touch and iTunes communicate via a piece of software called the Apple Mobile Device Services. It sounds like this is either not loading or is disabled on your computer. The best way to fix it is follow the directions in this technical article from Apple: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1567

  • New Computer - Can't See Video Now

I bought a new computer, and transferred all my iTunes files over. But when I went to watch a video on my iPod the other day (a TV Show purchased from iTunes), my iPod no longer played the video - it just played the audio portion of the TV Show. The video file on my computer is intact and plays just fine. Is there a setting or something I need to do - to be able to see the video in these TV Show files again?

    Thanks for your quick reply!
Okay, I switched the Video Setting to OFF, then sync'ed. But what happened next is that my Videos disappeared from my iPod entirely. The word Video was even removed from the iPod menu list.
Next, I went back and set Video Settings to ON, and re-synced. The videos came back, but again only as audio, with an "album cover" for each of the TV Show. Do you think maybe there's something on my computer that needs to be adjusted...?
    Thanks.

  • New Computer can't see Apple TV

    Hey Gang,
I have a mac book pro that I had been using to sync to my apple to tv. I recently bought a mac pro and did the migration to it but the new one can't seem to see the TV even though I marked in preferences for it too. Are their any suggestions of things that maybe I did wrong? The laptop can still see it but it is gonna be a pain if I have to keep disconecting the external drive that holds all the media in order for to use it on the laptop for syncing.

I was meaning more in respect of migrating your itunes library. It's not necessary to try to copy over the itunes application itself. Indeed it should already be on a new mac, you may however need to update it to 7.3.1. What you should have done in brief is move your itunes folder (~/user/Music/iTunes) from your old mac to your new one, connect the external HD with your music on, open itunes and ensure that the HD is selected as your music folder location. I'm assuming you have done this.
You will also need to turn of syncing between your old mac and the tv (it will only sync with one itunes library) and register your new one as the primary source (the pass code thing), you could then register your old mac for streaming only if you wished.
Everything should now be working for you. If not where do things start to go wrong for you/how far do you get.

  • I can't see my songs in iTunes

I moved my iTunes to my new laptop and I cannot see my songs. I check the file path and it is the same as my old laptop. I have authorized my new computer. Windows 8 operating system.  Can anyone help?

    What fixed it for me:
On your computer, open iTunes > My iPhone (or whatever name you gave your iPhone) > "Music" page
    Uncheck "Sync Music"
    Click "Sync" button (bottom right)
    Let it run and finish
Uncheck the box for every song, playlist, etc.
Click "Sync" button (bottom right) (This step may be unnecessary, but I did it and got the result I wanted.)
    Let it run and finish
Check the boxes for the music you want on your iPhone
    Click "Sync" button (bottom right)
    Let it run and finish
See if that doesn't work for you.  I tried a lot of things that did nothing, but this seems to have fixed it, and quickly.

  • Can't See Ipod Songs in Itunes??

I have just upgraded to a new ipod nano 8mgb and I'm using itunes 9.
I want to add songs to my ipod manually rather than using sync. I have managed to do this but I cant see the songs I've transferred in itunes like I have in the past. I can see them on my ipod. What am I doin wrong guys?

    Hello Hibbster,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
Are you talking about viewing your iPod's content within iTunes?
If so, click on the small black triangle next to your iPod's name in the left hand pane of iTunes. This should open up a small list underneath with Music, Videos, and such. Go ahead and click on the Music one to view the content currently on your iPod.
Does that do the trick for you?

  • I have a new computer, can i upload from itouch to itunes

have a new computer and wont to upload from itouch to itumes library, can i do that

Sync is only oneway, from PC to your device.  Unless you have the music on your PC, iTunes is going to wipe out what you have on your device if you are syncing to a new library.
You can only transfer Purchased music over to Itunes on your PC.

As for you own music, you may have to use a third party software.  A good Free one is called Sharepod which you can download from Download.com here:

  • Can't see/find songs in iTunes

    Using Win. XP
It was fine up until now when I opened iTunes (stored on my external), & I got an iTunes "Music Home page". Not my library of songs as usual.
I do still see the actual folder containing my songs within the iTunes program folder. (ie: iTunes Media), just nothing on the interface all of a sudden & it won't let me click in the search field.
What happened? How do I make them reappear? Tried rebooting, updating, etc. At a loss.
(All songs are also in my iPod too)

If you changed your iTunes media folder location to your external drive, it probably lost the connection. Ultimately you will need to either make iTunes reconnect with the media folder on your external hard drive or re-add the iTunes media folder by going to File - Add folder - in iTunes and locating the folder with your music in it.  Here are a few articles that may help you.

I have another computer that a virus may have taken over and I cannot log into it anymore.  I just downloaded Itunes on a new computer but most of my songs are not on there.  Is there a way to still access or find those songs?  Remotely or another way?  Or do I need to take it to a tech to get my files off of my hard drive?

Edit > Preferences > Store check Music under Automatic Downloads.
Open the iTunes Store from left hand column, then select Purchasedfrom the column on the right, click the Not In My Library button and select the tunes you want to download again.
That said, you seem to be under a misapprehension as to how iTunes works, or at least how it has worked in the past. It has, until recently, been up to you take care of your purchases once they have been downloaded. You had a one-time download which you were reminded to back up. With the recent change to this policy you can at least download your store purchases again, but having a personal backup of your iTunes store purchases, stuff purchased elsewhere and files ripped from your CDs will still be preferable to gathering all the stuff together again in the event of a disaster.
For a backup strategy see this User Tip.
