New computer causing WRT54G router to drop all computers

I have a WRT54G router that has worked like a champ. Stable and strong wireless signal. Works perfectly with my Macbook. However, when my new roommate gets on the network with his HP laptop, it works fine for a couple of minutes, and then both computers can't access the Internet. Both computers indicate they are connected to the network, and both indicate a strong signal. I reset the router, and the same thing happens again. If roommate's computer is off, I have absolutely no problem using the Internet (and Skype and everything else). Connection is stable and FAST. Roommate's computer is using Windows 7. I have had friends use my wireless network with their PCs before with no problems. Help?

Try connecting another wireless computer to your computer and check if that happen again or not...?
Try to update the driver for the wireless adapter on the Windows7 computer(your friend's computer) and check.

If you right mouse and select Get info it will show you the Apple ID used to purchase these songs.
Usually the name of an apple id is based on the email. So knowing that you may have forgotten the Apple ID password.

However, you can make this computer the syncing computer by:
- Transering iTunes purchases to the computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
- Transfer other music by using a third-party program like one of those discussed here:
Copy music
- For synced photos you need a program like TouchCopy or PhoneView. The do music too.
- After everything is on the computer connect the iPod to the computer and make a backupo by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
- Restore the iPod from that backup
Note that the backup that iTunes makes does not include synced media like apps, music, synced photos.

The music you just downloaded tonight to your new computer is safe. The music you purchased on your phone is safe. You shouldn't feel gutted. It's your other music that you should have taken better care of. That would include any music you ripped yourself or purchased outside of iTunes. That you can't get back.
It has always been the user's responsibility to back up and protect downloaded music. If you didn't have a backup of your computer before it started acting funny, that's your fault. It would be no different than if you lost a music CD. It would not be a record store's responsibility to replace if you lost it. Digital music is no different. Similarly, a phone is not a backup medium. Phone's break, get misplaced or stolen all the time and are not a substitute for a backup copy of your music and media.

You can safely deauthorise all (it doesn't remove any content from them) and you can immediately reauthorise the computers that you still have and need

New computer, connected but router doesn't install

I bought a new computer last week, Win7 w/Norton. It connected to the internet without installing the router. But there are times when we have no internet.
It looks like the router is not installed on the computer. I tried to do that but it says Cannot find router.
So what can I do now? I would imagine I need to have the router w/Cisco Connect on my computer?

It is a E3000. I didn't want to mess with anything over the weekend for fear of not having internet connection at all.
I will look at it again tonight.
One thing I didn't do, is shut the router down and start fresh. Maybe that was part of the problem. But since I could connect to the internet, I didn't think I had to do that.

Ok. So first of all I bought a new computer. The old one completely crashed no longer can get anything out of it. I threw it away.
I backed up my Iphone on the new computer and did the sync. iTunes asked me to update so I did. Now I can not delete songs from my iPhone.
I am using a windows system. This means if I open iTunes once and then close it I have to turn my computer off and start again.
I admit having a huge rant on this forum before but I am getting really frustrated agian. On te old system it was easy to make songs into ring tones by making it into an aac version. Now it seems I have to buy ringtones???? What is up with that?????

For ringtones, iTunes > Preferences > General >Import Settings... button > choose Import using AAC encoder to enable Create AAC version from .m4a and mp3 files.

I just got a new computer and I want to transfer all the music from my ipod classic onto my computer.

I just got a new computer and want my entire library on my ipod classic to be transferred to my computer. I transferred as many files as I could from my old computer through my external hard drive, but many of my cds didn't transfer. When I hook up my ipod, I see it's entire contents. My question is, does a sync only work from the computer to the ipod, or if I sync my ipod will the songs on it be synced to my computer along with all the playlists? My biggest worry is if I sync it, it will go back to the factory settings or I lose all my music. I appreciate any help.

My songs have all been duplicated. All my music is on external hard drive and I want it to stay there. Am using a new computer and thought I'd done all the required things for my library to show on iTunes 11.

I also followed his instructions as to get all my music in iTunes on the new computer (but keeping all the media on the external drive). Now my songs are all duplicated in my library (I normally have about 15,000 of them). They all play when I click onto them. Also, I've lost all my playlists, and all the songs in the library are now ticked. I've already spent hours trying to sort this out, but can't seem to find a solution. Help please!

Thank you for replying. I've been looking at your posts about setting up iTunes using an external drive. A bit of background info. My old computer broke down, so I got a new one from work. I've always kept my music files on my external drive (I have around 170GB of music). I didn't follow the suggestions in the "migrate iTunes library" post because my old computer died on me. However, I've looked at your posts about lay out of the iTunes folders. Before connecting to iTunes on the new computer, I had reorganized my iTunes folder on my E: external drive, and created an iTunes folder which contains an iTunes Media subfolder. The music files are in a Music folder, which is in the iTunes Media folder. I've also put the following files in my iTunes folder: iTunes Library.itl, iTunes Library Extras.itdb, iTunes Library Genius.itdb, iTunes Music Library.xml, as well as sentinel. I then followed the advice you gave bmw99 on 2 Nov 2013 at 9.58 (sorry, can't copy the exact answer).
Just to clarify: I'd like to keep all my music media on the E: external hard drive (the computer hard drive is too small), and I'm aware i might never have my playlists back, and that all the songs in my library might be ticked. However, I don't want my library to be duplicated.
I'm at work at the moment, but will be back home in about 10 hours, so I can be more specific about folders / files names.

I used an external hard drive for my backups via Time Capsule. I bought a new computer and I want to transfer all my old fonts over to the new one but when I go into the Font Library from the hard drive backup but my downloaded fonts aren't there?

I used an external hard drive to back up my computer using Time Capsule before I bought a new one. I am slowly transferring information fromt he backup to my new computer and I want to transfer over my old font book. When I go into the Font folder on the hard drive the only fonts that show up are the ones that came stock with the computer not any of the ones I have downloaded over time. Could they be downloaded somewhere else?

The answer to that would probably be "Yes." If you don't remember where your fonts were stored, you may want to search your backups for any of the font files you know the names to. See where that takes you.
Ideally, Font Book and other font managers will temporarily store the fonts you "installed" into the System when you run the OS. When you shut down, etc. they are removed and reloaded on restart. The permanent place fonts reside is where you saved them when or after you downloaded them. I typically create a Resources folder on the root level of the computer and place a Fonts folder there. Then I install fonts from there, and they are available to all users on that iMac.
Perhaps if you did not have that kind of a strategy, perhaps many of them are still in your Downloads folder?
