New Computer for Mothers Day, will this work?

I think I have this figured out but I want to see if you all see any problems that I might run into.
I will be purchasing a new laptop computer for my wife for Mothers Day, it will be using Vista. Her current laptop has XP. I believe she has about 20 gigs of music/video that she has purchased from ITunes and a tad bit she has copied from a few cds. I have done the search function and printed everyting "I think" I need to transfer over but the different O/S part concerns me greatly.
First of all, I had planned on just using her 60 gig Ipod to transfer everything but I also have a portable hard drive that might make it easier. Everything is stored in the default ITunes directory, so I was going to copy the entire folder from her current laptop to my portable hard drive. Then, once we get the new laptop up and running I had planned on downloading and installing the newest version of ITunes on to it and then copy the ITunes folder from the portable drive onto the new Vista based laptop....this is where I'm slightly concerned! Will the difference of Operating Systems cause any issues?
Lastely, if all goes well as stated above, I have no reason to leave the music/videos on the old laptop so I will deauthorize that computer and authorized the new one, or atleast I think that is a good idea.
Is there anything I need to do with the Ipod itself during this process or should everything go well? My biggest concern is using Vista, I have heard nothing but problems but unless I order a computer from someone like Dell and choose XP that is really my only option...

To elaborate, make sure you copy the entire \My Docuemnts\My Music\ iTunes folder, not only the iTunes music folder.
In Vista, the iTunes folder is installed in Music (not My Music).
Simply replace this folder with the one you copy from XP to the external.

will this setup be able to handle both my protools and adobe premier cs5? am i missing something ?
what would be the best HD set up wise for max audio/video performance ? i was thinking a dual boot ?

TrI agree with David that the first example looked okay, but you should test to make sure. You can check individual partition contents by executing a query using the PARTITION option to specifiy a specific partition to check the values there.

Will this work - Duet and External drives thru FireWire hub

I am thinking of getting a Mac Mini, my old 5-year old G4 is having a rough go of it with Logic Studio, so I'm thinking the faster 2.00 Ghz Dual Core Mini may be a better solution. However, I have three external FireWire HD's and I use Apogee's Duet as my inputs so I will need to get a hub (only one FireWire port on the Mini), but will that introduce a whole new set of problems for me? Will this work? Is anyone using this already?

If you do have "noise" in the audio, it will not be because the devices share the same bus.
Digital noise may be created and broadcast by the drives themselves and become thus injected into the audio stream. This can be made worse by poor ground schemes.
Many setups with powered external monitors and/or mixers are susceptible to this particular noise as broadcast by the hard drive. I have these two seagate drives that must be off or you can hear them.

You and your daughter want to enable homeshare in iTunes on BOTH of your computers. Mac or PC. Then you will be able to see your daughter's library. The songs you want to keep just drag to your own library. Then you can diable homesharing if you want. Hope this helps.

Hi There,
In order to download / install Captivate 8 32 bit, you have to download 2 files ( .7z and .exe ) at same location/ folder.
Once both files downloaded completely then you have to run .exe file and it will extract .7z file first and then it will initialize the installer. You do not have to open .7z file.
Let me provide you the download links of Captivate 8 32 bit :-
Open the link mention below in any Web Browser say Internet Explorer

Sign in with your Adobe id and Password, then you will be redirected to download Web Page of Captivate 8.
Do not click on Download. Kindly let that window open as it is.

Then Save the file.

I just bought a new iMac 10.9 and am wanting to purchase Logic Pro X. My question is I have a 2007 Presonus Fire Studio Project 8 channel input box that hooks up with firewire 400 I believe, will this work with Logic ProX on my new iMac?

You will need a Thunderbolt to Firewire adapter... may also need a Firewire 800 to 400 connector/adapter.
Also need to make sure Presonus has Maverick drivers for the FSP.

The easiest thing to do would be to sign into your iTunes account on your computer, connect your phone and sync. iTunes should copy anything from your phone that isn't already in your library on the computer.

If you are in a wi-fi only area, then you need to join a wi-fi network. Does your office have wi-fi? Has the Admin given you the iformation to join the wi-fi network?
To join a wi-fi network...
1. Go to Settings/Wi-Fi
2. Tap Other...
3. Enter the name of your wi-fi network
4 Tap Security
5. Tap the type of security the network uses and return to Wi-Fi
6. Enter the password and tap Join
