New computer help with snycing phone to Itunes

I just had my mac replaced, do I seriously need to re-purchase all my ringtones and music? How do i get them to go the Itunes library?

What's lame? That you didn't backup your computer? Yeah, that's pretty lame.
Had you done your research you would have learned that ringtones are purchased through iTunes, stored there, and then synch to the iPhone. The ONLY songs that can back synch are ones purchased thru the WiFi store. Since ringtones are not purchased thru the WiFi store, they cannot back synch.
Guess your iTunes giftcard will indeed come in handy.

  • New computer - help with iTunes, please?!

I got a new laptop earlier this summer. I had my iTunes, iTunes music (apps, TV shows, photos, etc), etc. transfered to this new laptop. I have also authorized this laptop. When I plug my iPod into the computer, it won't allow me to sync my iPod. It says I have items that were purchased on my iPod, and in my old iTunes library and this new computer is not autorized. It asks me to authorize it, so I click authorize it and everything, then it tells me the computer is already authorized. I tried de-authorizing it and re-authorizing it too. Still nothing.
Thing is, I deleted the songs I don't want anymore (the songs it says I purchased on my iPod, on the old computer with the other iTunes), so I don't know why it isn't working. The songs are not in my library or anything. Basically, I can't update / sync my iPod right now. I am leaving for college this next week and would really like it if my iPod was updated, etc. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks a lot.

Anyone know how to fix this? I have still lost 31 songs from my iPod because this new computer is still supposedly 'not authorized' even though it is. The songs are still in my iTunes library though.

  • New computer ~ Help with setting up

    Hi everyone, Newbie here!
I am going to set my new computer up tomorrow. The computer I am using at present was installed and set up by someone else so this will be a great learning curve for me. Also I had Infinity installed by the engineer.
Is everything I need to install relating to my broadband available to download? What do I need altogether? I spoke to a BT chap on the phone and he said he would help by remote access. I am a bit nervous of this!
I need to ensure my computer is safe and secure and it all seems technically daunting. Norton security came with  my Microsoft Office package. Is this better than McAfee (Net Protect Plus), do I need both? What about a key code scrambler  (someone mentioned this to me). As you can see I need reassurance and help arghhhhhhh.
A step by step guide would be great!
    Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

It is best not to install any of the BT software, just connect your computer to the BT Home hub using an Ethernet cable, or by using the wireless key, if its a wireless connected computers.
    See http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/14964/~/getting-started-with-wireless
Using a direct cable connection is best, if you want to get maximum speed.
I would not allow anyone remote access, but if you have no choice, and cannot resolve the issue any other way, then make sure that it is as a direct result of you ringing BT, and not some random person ringing you at home, pretending to be from BT or even Microsoft.
Many people have been caught out by that type of call, and had their computer infected with spyware.
If you already have a trial version of Norton Security, then by all means use it until it expires, then uninstall it.
After that, you have the choice of using the free Microsoft Security Essentials, which is preferred by many forum members, or using BTs Netprotect which is free with some broadband packages. This has been known to make computers run more slowly though.
    That is all you need.
If you have any problems, then please return here.
If you have any problems with BT Infinity, then please visit the Infinity board on this forum.

  • New computer help with ipod

My old computer was stolen along with back up disks. I bought a new computer and I need to know how to transfer existing songs from my ipod to a new computer.

    Hi Deeg!
NOTE: The following steps and advice may or may not work on a Windows Vista PC, as they are meant for either Windows 2000 or XP. In short, you'll be basically doing these things at your own risk.
First, install the latest iTunes before you connect your iPod to your computer, if you haven’t done that already (to download iTunes, go here).
Then, when it comes time to connect your iPod to your computer, let's start out with preventing iTunes from automatically syncing with your iPod, which would delete all of the contents off of it. Although this is unlikely, let's go ahead and do it to be safe:
    1 - Open iTunes.
2 - Connect your iPod to your computer.
3 - Basically as soon as your iPod begins to display "Do Not Disconnect", begin to press and hold the Shift and Ctrl keys on your keyboard together simultaneously.
4 - Continue to hold these keys for about 20 seconds throughout the time that your iPod is showing up in the Source List in iTunes, and syncing.
After you've done this, click on your iPod's name in the Source List, and under the "Summary" tab, tick the "Manually manage" option for your iPod. Click the "Apply" button in the bottom-right corner to save your changes.
Also, when you connect your iPod to your computer, you will get a message that says: "The contents of the iPod "your iPod's name" is synced to another iTunes library. What would you like to do?"
Please make sure to click on "Cancel" when you receive this message, and NOT "Erase and Sync", or else your iPod's songs will be replaced with the current contents of your iTunes library, deleting anything that isn’t currently backed up.
After you've prevented your iPod's songs from being lost when doing that, we can transfer the iPod's songs to your computer.
There are a couple of methods in doing this, including the first method laid out in this post. (It also contains a link to MacMuse's post about iPod-to-computer transfer, as well)
The most straightforward method in copying your iPod's songs to your computer, however, might be to download a third-party program that can do this for you.
For example, if you are on a Windows computer, you can use YamiPod (I find it a fairly easy program to figure out and use with both of my iPods).
As a note, you will have to have iTunes closed when you run this program, though.

  • New Computer Help with FLVs

    Hey all,
I just started working on a new computer running XP. It's pretty much bare bones, and obviously doesn't have any of the needed codecs to play .flv files. I downloaded the Flash Player allowing videos in the browser to play, but I still don't have what I need to play flvs in my JavaFX programs (I get the unsupported media exceptions).
Could someone point me in the direction of a codec or player that will fix my JavaFX problem?
    Thank you!
    Chris

Ah ha! I figured it out. Media cannot be referenced if it's located within the source of the project. For instance, if your project has "mypackage/ui/media/Movie.flv", your program will not find the media. However, if you put it in the root directory like this: C:/media/Movie.flv and reference it like this:
    Media {
    ..source: "file://media/Movie.flv"
    }It will work!

  • I wiped my ipod classic and then my computer crashed, so i no longer have the songs i purchsed from itunes on my ipod or computer! I have a new computer now with itunes installed, can I get the songs purchased previously from itunes somehow?

I wiped my ipod classic and then my computer crashed, so i no longer have the songs i purchsed from itunes on my ipod or computer! I have a new computer now with itunes installed, can I get the songs purchased previously from itunes somehow?

    Yes, you can!(:
    STEP 1: Open iTunes
STEP 2: Navigate to the "iTunes Store". It can be found under the "STORE" tab.
STEP 3: On the right side of the store there should be a "Quick Links" Section. Click on the "Purchased" link.
STEP 4: Navigate to the "Music" tab and click on "All Songs". Then at the bottom of the screen there will be a button that says "Download All". Click the button and your songs will be begin downloading!
NOTE: This will only work with songs that you bought from the iTunes store, if you imported them from a CD, you will have to do it again.
NOTE: You can also do this with Apps, Movies, TV Shows, and Books.
NOTE: You may have to sign in with your Apple ID to verify the download.
Hope this helped! Enjoy your music!(:

  • New Computer Difficulty With Itunes

I just got a new computer, and went to download the latest version of itunes. I'm not the greatest with this stuff but it won't let me run the setup for itunes saying that there isn't a legitimate digital signature? Do i need to disable my antivirus software to deal with this or is there something else I can do? I have my music ready to transfer to the new computer if only I could get iTunes to download!!
      Windows XP

Disable any antivirus/security/pop up blockers and try to install it
Also if you still have access to the old PC, you can copy its iTunes Library file and dump it on the new PC so you will keep all your playlist, play counts, ratings and all

  • I have just bought a new computer and want to set up itunes and download all my data from my iphoneaa

I have just bought a new computer how do i update Itunes with my old data

You need to move your iTunes library and other important data(contacts, calendars, pics, etc.) from your old computer to your new computer:
    http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/moving-your-itunes-library-to -a-new-hard-drive/
Once you do that, authorize your new computer(Store>Authorize this Computer), then backup your iPhone on your new computer, then restore your phone from that backup, followed by syncing your iTunes content back to your phone. The iTunes content currently on your phone will be erased when you first sync on your new computer, but if you move your entire library, you'll just sync the same content back to your phone.

  • I have a new computer and want to move my Itunes libriarys to this new PC.  How do I do this .

I have a new computer and want to move my Itunes libriarys to this new PC.  How do I do this?

These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
If you have an iOS device that syncs with contact & calendar data on your computer you should migrate this information too. If that isn't possible create a dummy entry of each type in your new profile and iTunes should offer to merge the existing data from the device into the computer, otherwise the danger is that it will wipe the information from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data. If you don't have any Apple devices then see HT2519 - Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store.

  • How can I copy bookmarks from my old computer to my new computer, both with Windows XP Pro?

Transferring bookmarks from old computer to new computer, both with Windows XP Pro?
    Thanks for your h4elp.
Also, can I create a file of bookmarks in MS Word or Open Office so that I can save them?

You can export your bookmarks to an HTML file on your old computer, and them import that file on your new computer. The HTML file also is your backup, and if you open it into Word, you could save it as a DOC file if you prefer.

  • I have copied over my music file to a new computer and the music shows on itunes but wont play. When I track where the song is located it is reading the wrong information. How do I change this as Edit Preferences has the right location

I have copied over my music files to a new computer and the music shows on itunes but wont play. When I track where the song is located it is reading the wrong information. How do I change this as Edit>Preferences has the right location?

Select one of the tracks with a broken link, press ctrl-i to Get Info. Say No when iTunes asks if you would like to locate the track, then look at the Summary tab for the location expects to find the file in.
Now try to locate the file in question. The two locations should give a clue as to what to do next.
Here is an example with a file I've deliberately moved from the new layout to the old pre-iTunes 9 layout.
This means iTunes is expecting to find the file at:
    D:\iTunes\iTunes Media\Music\a-ha\Take On Me\01 Take On Me.mp3
but it isn't there because I've moved it to:
    D:\iTunes\iTunes Media\a-ha\Take On Me\01 Take On Me.mp3
which is where it would have lived back in iTunes 8 (though the media folder would have been called iTunes Music back then as well).
If you can provide the expected and actual locations of a broken track I should be able to suggest the easiest way to resolve things.
