New computer How do i transfer songs

i just got a new Hp Media center computer. how do i transfer all the songs from the computer i am currently using to the new one?
i have about 3gb of music
thanks

There are a couple of ways. I would recommend firewire to connect the two computers and transfer the songs. Or, you could get a external hard drive ($$) and just pop them on the new computer. You could also take the long way and put the songs on CD and then load them onto the computer. If you dont have a firewire you can get them pretty much anywhere (staples, best buy, apple) and then you just connect them. pretty simple, hope i helped.

Copy the entire iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer to move iTunes content.
As for pictures, copy them from where there are on the old computer to the new computer... this has nothing to do with iTunes.
Alternatively, if both computers are Windows based, use the Windows Easy File Transfer Utility to move everything.

    - Transfer iTunes purchases by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - To transfer other music you need a third-party program like one of those discussed here:
Copy music from Ipod to new computer...: Apple Support Communities
    - Connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up.
    - Restore the iPod from that backup

If you only copy your Files you will lose your favorites. The best Way to copy your Library to the New Computer is to Export your libery (you can find the Export in the menue). This will copy your Wohle Library on cd. If you Out in These cd's in your new Computer iTunes will copy it with all informations.
While that may work, it is extremely time consuming and unnecessary.
Copying the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer will keep the library intact.

  • Just bought a new computer--how do I transfer itunes to the new computer?

Just bought a new computer(windows 7).  How do I transfer itunes to windows 7 from windows xp?

You don't have to transfer from your iphone5 to itunes on your computer.
Log into itunes store on your computer using the same appleId you used to purchase those music, go to music library, and you should see all your previously purchased music with a cloud and down arrow symbol next to them.
Click on the cloud, and that song will be downloaded to your computer. Try to look around to see if there's any way to do all downloads at one command.
You should also go back to your old computer and deauthorize that computer from your itunes account, then authorize your new computer as one of the 5 allowed to playback itunes content.
The behavior of itunes may have changed with recent updates. In the past, when I plugged in my iphone to a new computer, I do remember being asked by itunes if I wanted to transfer purchases over. Give it a try and see what happens.
But whatever you do, if your current itunes library is still empty, DO NOT say yes to sync with iphone. It would wipe out your itunes library on your iphone because you would be syncing a blank libary over to the iphone. Sync iphone with your computer itunes library only after the computer's library has more content than your iphone's library. That's just to play it safe.

  • New computer how do i put songs on it ?

    Hi
I have just got a new computer. How do i transfer all my songs onto the new computer. Do i have to install i tunes first onto the computer ???
    THanks Trish

Using iTunes, you can't transfer music from your iPod to your computer. I'd recommend that you install iTunes on the new computer, then copy all your music onto a DVD or a load of CDs and copy them onto your new computer. If you play one of your iTunes purchased songs on your new computer, you'll need to enter your username and password to authorise your new computer for your iTunes account - once you've done this (you only need to do it once) then you'll be able to play all your purchased music on your new machine.
If you don't have copies of your music on your PC, try using a program called "sharepod" from http://www.softpedia.com/get/IPOD-TOOLS/Other-IPOD-tools-Updates/SharePod.shtml - this will let you copy your music from your iPod, but DON'T USE IT TO PUT MUSIC ON YOUR IPOD. It can corrupt your iPod music library. I also don't know if you are able to copy iTunes purchased music off your iPod.
    Hope this helps!

  • New computer: How do I transfer content to new computer?

    Hi,
My MacBook Pro got stolen about 5 days ago... I just got a new one and restored my files from a Time Machine backup that I did 30 days ago.
On my iPhone I keep a "Recently Added" playlist that goes back to 4 weeks, where all the new music that I've purchased/imported to iTunes in the last 30 days is - the exact music which is not in my Time Machine backup....
How do I transfer those songs back to my computer? I guess this also applies to contacts/applications, which would be cool to have back!

You'll find details in on copying purchases to your computer in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
The transfer of content from sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to the iPod and iPhone. However there are a few third party utilities that are advertised as iPhone and iPod Touch compatible which can be used to retrieve the music files and playlists etc. Have a look at the web sites and help pages for these ones and see what you think or check the web for reviews:
Senuti Mac Only (Currently only the beta version is iPod Touch & iPhone compatible)
SharePod Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TuneJack Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
Music Rescue Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)

3.Share your iPod contents with a friend.

  • I have  new computer, how do I transfer my old library over , thought Homesharing would work but I cant figure out how to transfer. Thanks

I have a new laptop and have installed iTunes. How do I transfer my library from my old computer over?  I thought Homesharing would do it but I cant figure it out. I got to the point of it showing that I have homesharing on each computer but how do I download the old into the new?  Thanks

I tried this with apps and it worked flawlessly!!
You can do the same with music, playlists etc
I did it on Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit
You should have same Itunes version on both systems!!
Here are the methods to follow:
Just for safety, on your new PC go to Edit > Preferences > Devices - and check "Prevent Ipods, Iphones and Ipad from syncing automatically.
    From your old computer,
    1) Open itunes
    2) Go to Edit > Preferences > Advanced
    3) here you may see a location under heading "itunes media folder location"
    4) Go to that location and open "mobile applications" folder. Copy the entire files/apps inside it and paste it to any removable device supporting the size.
    On your new computer:
    a) Repeat steps 1 to 3.
    b) Go to the location you have found in your new computer. You'll find same folders. Now, copy apps/files from your removable device to "Automatically Add to Itunes folder" DO NOT COPY it in Mobile applications folder because it won't sync that way!
This completely restored all my apps that I had to transfer from my PC to laptop!! You can try to do same with music... This should work!
    HOPE THIS HELPS!

  • I have a new computer, how do I transfer itunes?

I have about 2000 songs on itunes on my computer. I got a new computer and I want to transfer the songs to it. Is there a way to do that without re-loading ALL of my CDs? Can I use my ipod in reverse, maybe?

I also have a new computer, and I have already down loaded itunes on here. I have tried to transfer all songs to ipod, but only certain songs will transfer. Then on certain songs it will ask me to authorize, which I try but itunes doesn't recognize my username or password. I've also tried other usernames and passwords and none of them work. Please help me, this is driving me mad.. I even tried to call APPLE for help, and my 2 yr warranty has run out, so they want to charge big bucks for the call.
