New computer - how to import current itunes libary

Can someone please explain how to move itunes libary to new PC.

Probably the most straightforward way to get iTunes onto your second computer is to network it with the first one and copy your iTunes folder across. Start by consolidating your library. When you consolidate, any songs in the iTunes Library that are not in the iTunes Music Folder are copied to the Music Folder and the Library is updated to point to those new files. Files already in the iTunes Music Folder have no changes made to them: Copying all your iTunes files to one location - Windows
Copying the whole folder brings with it the iTunes Music folder and also the iTunes Library (iTunes Library.itl in Windows) database file which holds all the information about your songs (Playlists, Ratings, Play Counts, Last Played, Date Added, etc). You'll get more information including the Folder/File structure in this article: What are the iTunes library files?
When you copy the iTunes folder make sure you put it into the default location on the new computer. On a PC this is \Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\My Music\ (or C:\Username\Music\ in Vista). You should also use the same version of iTunes on both computers.
You can also use this method with an external hard drive, you drag the folder from the first computer to the external drive and then from the drive to the second computer.
If you have and iPod, some iPods can be used as an external drive and you can use them to move your iTunes (this option isn't available with the iPod Touch): How to use your iPod to move your music to a new computer
If you have any iTunes purchases in your library don't forget that you'll need to authorise your new computer to play them. Also if you are disposing of the old one remember to deauthorise it so you don't use up one of your allowances: About iTunes Music Store Authorisation and Deauthorisation

Here is one way to make sure that iTunes is complete on your New Computer...
Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..
Backup iTunes to an External Drive

An Added Bonus is that you will then have a Backup of iTunes...

Just bought a new computer(windows 7).  How do I transfer itunes to windows 7 from windows xp?

You don't have to transfer from your iphone5 to itunes on your computer.
Log into itunes store on your computer using the same appleId you used to purchase those music, go to music library, and you should see all your previously purchased music with a cloud and down arrow symbol next to them.
Click on the cloud, and that song will be downloaded to your computer. Try to look around to see if there's any way to do all downloads at one command.
You should also go back to your old computer and deauthorize that computer from your itunes account, then authorize your new computer as one of the 5 allowed to playback itunes content.
The behavior of itunes may have changed with recent updates. In the past, when I plugged in my iphone to a new computer, I do remember being asked by itunes if I wanted to transfer purchases over. Give it a try and see what happens.
But whatever you do, if your current itunes library is still empty, DO NOT say yes to sync with iphone. It would wipe out your itunes library on your iphone because you would be syncing a blank libary over to the iphone. Sync iphone with your computer itunes library only after the computer's library has more content than your iphone's library. That's just to play it safe.

  • How to import a itunes libary

I have a very basic question that i cant figure out the answer to (i feel silly for asking). I just bought a mac and owuld like to import my itunes libray saved on a external library, how would i do that with out overiding the files saved on my itunes libary on my new mac? I tried file import and clicked the library file on the external hardrive but nothing happened. I know how to import individual songs, but how would i import the Libary with all the saved data (albums covers, ratings, and play count).

If i press option while launching itunes and launch the itunes library from my external hd, will it merge those files/info with the itunes library on my mac?
not automatically. first, you need to add whatever media files you have on your startup disk.
to do that, launch iTunes as suggested above and navigate to the library file on the external. next, go file > +add to library+ and navigate to the iTunes music folder on your startup disk. iTunes will move all media files found in the iTunes music folder on the startup disk to the external drive.
when that process is finished, check that all files have indeed been moved by right-clicking on random files you know where on the internal drive and choosing +get info+. go to the summary tab and look at the bottom of the +get info+ window. it will show you the path to the original file (which should be the external drive). if satisfied, you can delete the content of the iTunes music folder on your internal drive.

  • I just synced my iphone to a new computer and lost all my itunes libary.  It's on the computer but not on the phone.

I justtryed to sync my iPhone with a new laptop and lost my itunes library from the phone.  I'd already moved iTunes to the laptop.  What did I do wrong, and is there a way to reclaim the library?

Was the music purchased from iTunes?
Can you sync other music to the iPod?
What happens when you try to sync?
When you switch syncing computers you have to restore the iPod on the new computer. Did you do that?
You can only sync with one computer/iTunes library but you can manage music and videos among different computers. See:

  • I have a new computer, how do I transfer itunes?

I have about 2000 songs on itunes on my computer. I got a new computer and I want to transfer the songs to it. Is there a way to do that without re-loading ALL of my CDs? Can I use my ipod in reverse, maybe?

I also have a new computer, and I have already down loaded itunes on here. I have tried to transfer all songs to ipod, but only certain songs will transfer. Then on certain songs it will ask me to authorize, which I try but itunes doesn't recognize my username or password. I've also tried other usernames and passwords and none of them work. Please help me, this is driving me mad.. I even tried to call APPLE for help, and my 2 yr warranty has run out, so they want to charge big bucks for the call.

  • I've moved an internal hard drive with all my music and library files to a new computer --- how can I get itunes to import the whole library while keeping my metadata?

I've always kept all my music on its own dedicated internal hard drive.  Now I've got a new PC, finally made the switch to Windows 7 from XP, and I've moved my internal hard drive over to the new machine.
I installed iTunes, but I'm having a heck of a time getting it to import the music and library files, keeping all my playlists and metadata.  Why is this so hard?

If your New to You Used Mac is froom mid 2012 and originally came with Lion installed on it you will need to Reinstall that version using the Online Internet Recovery system and then at first boot of the new install use the Setup Assistant system to copy over all the data from your wifes old hard drive.
To access the Online system at startup hold down the Command + Option/alt + r keys and keep them held down until you see a globe on the screen. From the resulting screen that cames up, Mac OS X Utilities, select Disk Utility and then the top most entry for the hard drive, left hand panel, drive model number and size, and then the Partition tab. Repartition the drive as One Partition, You Must do that to get ride of the Mavericks Recovery HD partition which is hidden. Name the partition Macintosh HD with a format of Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
Once that is done exit disk utility and select Reinstall Mac OS X.

  • New computer how do i see itunes library

Have installed itunes on new laptop.  How do i sync ipod so that i see library on new laptop

Ideally you would copy over your iTunes library and other personal data from your previous computer or the backups of it. If that isn't possible see the user tip Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

  • New computer how to transfer itunes and apps

i bought a new computer, how do i transfer itunes and apps to my itunes library?

Type "move itunes library" into the google search bar.

  • I have a new computer. I've installed iTunes. I don't want to lose the calendar and contact data nor the apps currently on my iPod Touch. Will that happen when I sync?

I have a new computer. I've installed iTunes. I don't want to lose the calendar and contact data nor the apps currently on my iPod Touch. Will that happen when I sync?

I don't think so. When you open iTunes, go to "Store" on the top and click "Authorize this Computer." Type in your email and pass, and click authorize. Then, when you connect you iPod for the first time, it should tell you "this iPod is synced with another computer, blah blah." It should give you the option to either "Erase and Sync," or "Transfer Purchases." Click "Transfer Purchases and your content should go into your new iTunes.
If this doesn't work and you still have your old computer there's another thing you can do. I know this works on windows, but I'm not sure how to do it on a Mac, maybe someone can offer some help. Assuming you have Windows, go to Start>Music>iTunes Media and you should see Music, Apps, Movies, etc. This is all the stuff in your iTunes. If you have an external hard drive or your iTunes library is small in terms of file size, you can do this in one go. Transfer the content (as much as you can fit at one time) onto the external storage. Then, put that content on your new computer on the desktop or somewhere where you can find it again. Open iTunes, and folder by folder highlight everything in the folder and drag it into the iTunes library. It should say "importing (content)" or something and then it should be in your library. If you look in your Music folder again, there should now be another "iTunes" folder there with all of your content back in it.
Hope one if these options works for you. Best of luck!

  • Bought new computer- how do i get all my itunes song off old computer and onto new one?

i recently purchased a new computer and installed ITUNES on it.  Once I put in my APPLE ID all my purchased songs showed up (songs i purchased through ITUNES on my old computer).  Here is the problem, my old computer has around 800 songs on it from cd's that I owned and downloaded those songs into ITUNES.  Now i want those songs on my new ITUNES on my new computer but don't know how to get them there.  I have tried the following so far:
    - Tried syncing my ipod and ipad to the new computer but each time I do this the new computer ITUNES wants to wipe out the 800 songs and just put on the transfered purchases songs.
    - Tried 'home sharing'.  When I did home sharing with both computers on and ITUNES opened all the songs showed up on my new computer but as soon as I closed out ITUNES on the old computer the 800 songs went away on the new computer and it went right back to the songs I purchased.
Please someone tell me there is an easy way to take all these songs I have on ITUNES on the old computer and transfer them to my new computer and ITUNES without having to bust out all these old cd's and sit there and re-burn them all on the new computer.
I have in addition to this all ready authorized my new computer with ITUNES so that is good to go.  Any help would be appreciated...

Are they not on your new computer after you restored your iTunes backup?
    Didn't have a backup?
Unlike music you can download apps multiple times. Go to each app, download it (ignore the price) and after you click it will tell you that you've already purchased the app and ask if you want to download it again.
