New computer issues and iTunes download ... HELP !!!
My old computer finally crashed and burned ... I had a friend install the old hard drive in my new computer as a slave storage device ... problem now is, every time I plug in my iPod I get a message saying there is another iTunes library already on this computer and apparently you can't have two (how selfish)
It wants me to erase the contents of my iPod and start over ... no can do, ... I worked WAY to hard to compile all my grooviest tunes ... please HELP !!!

You definitely don't want to do that, obviously.
There's an Apple help doc easily found that explains how to transfer your library and settings from your iPod to the new computer.
If you want to transfer from the old computer, I'm trying to figure out how to do that myself -- but via a backup from an external harddrive. Dig around the harddrive posts.

I just got a new computer. I have downloaded ITunes and authorized it. It shows my apps and music, but says something about "downloading all". Do I have to download everythingon to this new computer or is it already in there? I also have an iPad that I need to sync. Is there anything special I need to do with the new computer before syncing the iPad?
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Issy2090Your past purchases are not on the computer. By choosing download all, those purchases will download to the computer.
Once authorized to your iTunes account you can control the computer.
When syncing the iPad the first time you will get the warning " this iPad is synced with another computer, syncing will erase all contents and replace with the contents of this computer"
Say yes, this is what you wan to do. -
I use to have a iTunes account with my old computer, and I have lost all my iTunes music, some purchased, some downloaded from another source. Now I'm using a brand new computer (Windows) and I have opened a NEW iTunes account, but I now I need to figure out if it is possible to recoup my music content that I originally had. I had, I believe around close to 300 songs on my account ;(......Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Again, Ronald

Now remove all your info and update the old AppleiD/iTunes account and use only that account.
You cannot transfer items between iTunes accounts.
You can redownload all the content. -

I had an HP laptop with Itunes on it and kept my library on an external hard drive. I had a 160gb classic Ipod.
My computer died and i am buying a new one (mac is out of budget)
When I get my new computer, obviously I will download Itunes. My Ipod still has all the music on it and the external hard drive is ok.
I don't want to "erase" or lose any information when I sync with a new itunes that is "empty"
What are the steps? After I download Itunes and set the folder location to my external harddrive what is next? Will Itunes recognize my IPOD? Will it load the music/list from my ipd or external into itunes?
Thanks in advanceThe following user tip is worth checking through:

I had iTunes on my old computer and I am trying to get all of the same music on my new computer. I have download iTunes and signed in, but it is not showing up in my library. How do I get all of my old music back?
It does not magically appear in a new place. It will only be where you put it.
Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one. -

I wiped my ipod classic and then my computer crashed, so i no longer have the songs i purchsed from itunes on my ipod or computer! I have a new computer now with itunes installed, can I get the songs purchased previously from itunes somehow?
Yes, you can!(:
STEP 1: Open iTunes
STEP 2: Navigate to the "iTunes Store". It can be found under the "STORE" tab.
STEP 3: On the right side of the store there should be a "Quick Links" Section. Click on the "Purchased" link.
STEP 4: Navigate to the "Music" tab and click on "All Songs". Then at the bottom of the screen there will be a button that says "Download All". Click the button and your songs will be begin downloading!
NOTE: This will only work with songs that you bought from the iTunes store, if you imported them from a CD, you will have to do it again.
NOTE: You can also do this with Apps, Movies, TV Shows, and Books.
NOTE: You may have to sign in with your Apple ID to verify the download.
Hope this helped! Enjoy your music!(: -
I try to sync my nano and get: the ipod cant be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the items library (need 100MB) - I have a new computer?? can you help me understand this message: what to do?
Hello pryan1012,
What this message means is that you have more music in your itunes library than there is free space in your ipod.
I had this same issue at one time. This is what helped me put my music on the ipod. I used manually manage.
Learn how to sync muisc here.
Hope this helps.

HT201272 Help! I have a new computer but can't download any purchases?
Help! I have a new computer but can't download any of my purchases from last few years? Is there a solution? I have no current iPad/iPhone/iPod.
Make sure you authorize your new computer and deauthorize your dead computer.
iTunes Store: About authorization and deauthorization
Once done, see if you can redownload your purchases after,
Downloading past purchases from App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Hope this helps. -
I downloaded digital hd copies of movies onto my parents' computer and they have a new computer now, and the movies aren't there, even though they have the same apple ID. What do I do to get them to download?
New computer: Dell, Windows 8.1
Processor: Intel Core i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40GHz
64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor
16 GB RAM
itunes up-to-date
Old computer: Dell, Microsoft Windows XP
Processor: Intel Pentium D CPU @ 2.80GHz
1 GB RAM
itunes not up-to-date (updating it isn't really an option)
I have these movies downloaded on the old computer from digital hd redeemed codes: Fantastic Mr. Fox, Super 98, Thor, Inception, The Hunger Games, and Star Trek Into Darkness. I bought Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl on itunes with money, and that one isn't showing up either. When I search it on itunes to see if I can just re-download it, that isn't an option. I would have to buy it again. Home Sharing isn't what I want because the old computer will not be here forever and it is not connected to wifi.
It's kind of a lot of movies, and I want them on the new computer.im so happy I have a iTunes Card Code absolutely free! I got it at http://linkbitty.com/freeitunes2014
