I've had my new macbook for just over a week - "Wow! fantastic, the new screen is some much better and brighter than my old one".
"New Software update"...
Reboot...
New screen now as dull as an ten year old dell.

Try downloading the 10.6.2 combo updater and updating again. If no joy, then try reinstalling Sno over Sno as in an upgrade install. Such an install, while usually very safe, still is an install so be appropriated backed up if you proceed.

Have an iPad mini with latest software upgrade 8.1.2. Verizon Messaging app crashes on use after one year with no problems. I deleted the app and downloaded a clean version. It crashes whether or not I have any apps running in the background. Sometimes I can type part of a message before it crashes. Other times it crashes as soon as I try to use the app at all. Neither Apple Support nor Verizon store staff could find any reason for the problems. Any ideas??

Steady_RI, thanks for keeping us posted. Did you uninstall that application by pressing/holding down the icon until the (X) appears? Tap the (X) to delete it. Once the application has been deleted, you will need to reset the network settings on your device in Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings. Power that device off/on and then download the application again. Additionally, we also recommend that you disable Wi-Fi and connect to our network to test the messaging feature again.

That is my system info ~ my firewall is open and I have no anti-virus software installed.
On Netfilx, when I click Play on an Instant movie, a screen comes up that tells me there is an upgrade for Silverlight. Click the button, go thru what looks like a full install series of windows, go back to click Play, and the same screen comes up. It has happened for the last 48 hours or so, consistently. I opened Chrome and Safari, had the same result.
A Ustream site I follow, also using a Mac, has been getting kicked off that system all day, getting an error message that references Adobe Flash Player ~ he just upgraded, like I did, and wonders if there is a problem with it ~ got me thinking...

From what I can tell, the problem is not Silverlight, it is the flash plugin (10.3). I uninstalled and went back to FLASH 10.1 and Netflix, flash videos, flash based applications, etc all worked again on my brand new computer. Very unfortunate and frustrating.

Have ylu tried the standard fixes:
- Reset. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

If you don't have a backup, then all your pics/text/notes are gone.
You can sync back music and app. If you were syncing your contacts with a program in itunes, then you'll get that back.
Not sure why you didn't do a backup, especially prior to doing an upgrade.

Restore loop (being prompted to restore again after a restore successfully completes)
Troubleshoot your USB connection. If the issue persists, out-of-date or incorrectly configured third-party security software may be causing this issue. Please follow Troubleshooting security software issues. .
Next try placing in DFU mode and then restoring.

Last, try restoring on another computer.
You are really not describing your problem well.

okay from reading posts it seems if I transfer my backed up info from my old comp to the new one and erase my dad's phone's back up i could reset my phone and it would transfer all my old data back onto the phone, be linked to the new computer and i could proceed. When you purchase applications on your iOS device, they are tied to your Apple ID so even if you lose them, you can re-download them from your purchase history.
That said, when you first sync your iPhone to your new computer you'll want to transfer purchases from your iOS device to the computer by following these directions here:
