New computer, lost all previous itunes purchases
Recently I have had to have my whole computer wiped and start again.
Naturally this means that I have lost all my data.
Also, a large percent of my iTunes Store purchases were not on my iPod so when I went to transfer purchases, they weren't there! These include things like Louis Theroux TV episodes.
As you can I imagine I am pretty ticked off by this.
Can anyone tell me how to retrieve these purchases?
Have you failed to maintain a backup of your music? Terrible idea.

Have a new computer need all my itunes purchases put on this new computer
my computer was stolen and i need to get all my itunes purchases on my new computer how do I do that?
I found instructions on how to transfer from my IPod to my new computer but they involve making a copy on to my IPod from the original computer. I don't have the original computer anymore but I do have my IPod which is updated. How can I take what I have on my IPod and get it on to a new computer without having access to the original computer.

You have a backup of your computer, or at the very least of your iTunes media, correct?
Simply copy your backup of your iTunes media into the iTunes library on your new computer.
Connecting and syncing your device to the new computer without first recovering your iTunes media is a really, really, really bad idea. iDevices are designed to ONLY sync with one computer. When you plug your device into a new computer, it will wipe all media on the device when it syncs. The only media you may be able to salvage and transfer to the new computer would be anything bought directly on the device.
If you do not have a backup of your iTunes media, then you will want to either look at a way (using software from a third party company) to either extract the media from you iDevice or your old computer (assuming the hard drive is not toast). -
I have a new Macbook pro. I downloaded all previous Itunes purchases and then sync my IPhone. The New songs that I purchased today appear on the IPhone however it will not play. How do I fix the issue with my IPhone?
Hey Etti101,
I'd start off your troubleshooting process by deleting and redownloading the songs:
If iTunes in the Cloud is available in your country, try the following steps to resolve the issue:
Delete the purchased song that is exhibiting the problem from your iTunes library.
Click on the Purchased link in the iTunes Store to view your previously purchased music.
Download your previously purchased song from this list.

My two month old Macbook HDD failed and I lost everything (no I hadn't backed up yet)... all my iTunes music purchases went with the HDD... is there any way I can download them again?
Regards
ShaneThe policy is normally you can download once and only once and you are supposed to back up your purchases. However Apple has been known to make exceptions if you state your case and have a good reason why you need to redownload. I would hope that because your new MacBook failed that would be a good excuse since it is completely reasonable to expect to have some time to arrange to get an external drive or whatever to backup as you wouldn't be expecting a drive failure on a new Apple machine.
Good luck,

Getting a new computer-how to get ITunes purchases onto it
Last year, my laptop with ITunes broke apart and I had to get a new laptop. When I re-installed ITunes and synched my IPOD, all of my purchases were gone and not showing up in my account. In the event I have to buy a new computer in the future, how do I get ITunes on the computer and manage to keep all of my purchases?

New computer; lost all messages
Hi-
I've lost my messages and I sent myself a test from my hotmail account, and it wasn't received. Something is going on with my new computer. I just bought and set up a new iMac 20".
I migrated files via the method described here:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1872713
In terms of mail, the only thing suggest to bring over was: /Home/Library/Mail (copy the whole folder)
I did so. But, when I opened mail, there's nothing there. Nothing in inbox, sent or deleted. And, like I said, when I sent myself a test, nothing came through.
Can anyone tell me how to get my messages and how to get my mail working again? I'm stumped. Thanks. Also, just another piece of information that is weird, and I don't know if it helps. When I got to preferences in mail and click the "accounts" tab. I see my account there in the left but it says:
.Mac (inactive)
Sounds to me like my account is inactive but I have no idea why, and how to get it back. Everything was fine with my old Powerbook. This is a recent development with my iMac. Thanks. -
I cannot make purchases, as well as it says my computer is not authorized to make purchases
Open iTunes, select Authorize this computer from the Store menu.
You may be able to recover from your iPod Touch with a third-party utility such as Phone to PC. -
I can see names of music/video files but says I can't locate files. Is there a way to re-download the files. When I go to the list it says that I've already downloaded the items to this computer. They're lost. Please help. Thanks.

I use to have a iTunes account with my old computer, and I have lost all my iTunes music, some purchased, some downloaded from another source. Now I'm using a brand new computer (Windows) and I have opened a NEW iTunes account, but I now I need to figure out if it is possible to recoup my music content that I originally had. I had, I believe around close to 300 songs on my account ;(......Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Again, Ronald

Now remove all your info and update the old AppleiD/iTunes account and use only that account.
You cannot transfer items between iTunes accounts.
You can redownload all the content. -
Me Again... Did I lose all my itunes purchases when my last computer died? Can I get them back?
If you are in a country where you can re-download music (and they are still available in the store) then they should show under the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes : re-downloading.

I had to have the hard drive replaced on my computer and i lost all my iTunes data and I hadn't backed up my music. can I still transfer music from my iPod to a new iTunes?
Music Rescue also works as far as restoring your playlists etc. I've used it twice, you can use the Quick Recover mode, but have to click continue trial (something like that) allot, cp. to purchase option. Otherwise diesel is right as far as restoring via your purchase history.
Here is a review of Music Rescue.
