New Computer; my music files are not on board

I just built a new computer and have loaded iTunes. My iTouch is retaining all of the apps and music I had stored on it.
My problem is that iTunes cannot find the music because it's not where it was located before.
If I "delete" the library then it warms me it will delete the tunes (any that were synced with the old iTunes) from the iTouch also.
I'd like to just delete the present library and then provide new links in a new one.
Help me out so I don't make it worse than what it is!
Thanks

Go into iTunes > Preferences - Advanced Tab, and tell iTunes where the library is located on your hard drive. You should be good to go.

  • How to transfer music from iPhone to iPhone when music files are not on computer?

    Dear all,
I'm having trouble trying to transfer music from one iPhone to another (iPhone 4 to 5s if it matters), when the music files are NOT on my Macbook Pro, which as far as I understand prevents me from transferring music using the iTunes library sync method.
Is there a way to do this? Like transferring the files to the Macbook Pro first?
    Many thanks in advance.

  • Music files are not opening in itunes.

    Hi
My music files will not open in itunes and is not recognised in the library. I have the files in the 'My Music' file however when looking at the music file it say the file is locked? is there anyway I can get my itunes to recognise the music files?

I finally removed those audio and video files from iPhone, although it will be tough to add them back to iPhone, but at least I saved the phone spaces.
I used software something like iTools, delete everything under File System / User / iTunes Control, then restart phone, that simple, usage count, spaces used are all correct now.

  • Bought New Computer-Transfer Music Files

I bought a new computer and would like this to be the new location for my itunes. How do I import all of the files from my old computer to the new one? Can they be installed directly from my ipod?

*How do I import all of the files from my old computer to the new one?*
Probably the most straightforward way to get iTunes onto your new computer is to network it with the old one and copy your iTunes folder across. This works fine if you have been using iTunes to completely manage your music and all your songs are in iTunes Music not in different folders. You can also use this method with an external hard drive, you drag the folder from the old computer to the external drive and then from the drive to the new computer. If the songs in your library are not all in the iTunes Music folder you can consolidate them. When you consolidate, any songs in the iTunes Library that are not in the iTunes Music Folder are copied to the Music Folder and the Library is updated to point to those new files. Files already in the iTunes Music Folder have no changes made to them: Copying all your iTunes files to one location - Windows
Copying the whole folder brings with it the iTunes Music folder and also the iTunes Library (iTunes Library.itl in Windows) database file which holds all the information about your songs (Playlists, Ratings, Play Counts, Last Played, Date Added, etc). You'll get more information including the Folder/File structure in this article: What are the iTunes library files?
When you copy the iTunes folder make sure you put it into the same location on the new computer. This has to be the exact same place, on a PC this is \Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\My Music\. Everything has to be exactly the same on the new computer including the Windows user account name. When you open iTunes on the new computer it will be the same as on the original one Songs, Playlists, Play Counts, Ratings etc. You should also use the same version of iTunes on both computers.
Your iPod can also used as an external drive and you can move the iTunes folder onto it: How to use your iPod to move your music to a new computer
If you have any iTunes purchases in your library don't forget that you'll need to authorise your new computer to play them. Also if you are disposing of the old one remember to deauthorise it so you don't use up one of your allowances: About iTunes Music Store Authorisation and Deauthorisation

  • Some music files are not be shared using Home Sharing

Has anyone had the problem of being on Home Share and not all music files, audiobooks and podcasts are being shared with my other computer?  None of my playlists are being shared either.  Please, I need help.

  • Upgraded computer, found music files but not my playlists

I upgraded my computer recently and had to reinstall itunes.  I found my music files and imported them back into itunes, apps included, but my playlists were not there.  I also tried syncing my iphone, which has the playlists and it said it synced but nothing changed.  Any ideas?

If you just copied the media files, the playlists are not part of that.  The library files contain playlist information as well as a host of other track details such as ratings.  Your artwork is also stored separately. That is why it is recommended you copy the whole iTunes folder, not just the media files the way you did.  Again, see the procedure listed in the link I provided earlier.

  • EJB deployment problem --New remote interface class files are not loaded

Hi, I face a problem while deploying an ear file in oc4j. I basically get some problems like the method in the remote interface is not implemented in the EJB class. But the implementation is actually available in the EJB class.
We get this problem when we actually change the signature of the EJB remote methods. The new methods are not referenced by oc4j. Only the old version of remote interface is referenced by oc4j. But the latest version of EJB class is taken. I am using 9.0.3 version of the oc4j. Could you pls help me regarding this problem ?
    Regards
    Solomon

I have found the solution :-)
You must add to the ejbCreate() method of the bean class throws javax.ejb.CreateException

  • Reinstall new computer, missing music files

I had my old computer backed up with Carbonite. New computer is Win 7 but when I attempt to transfer my music, many songs have an exclamation mark & when attempting to drag the song to create a new playlist I get message that the file is missing.  How do I restore these files?  Frustrated.  Thanks :-)

    Hi jackiesic,
When tracks in iTunes display a it means the file cannot be located; it may have been moved or deleted.
This may have occurred during the transfer of files to your new computer, as the iTunes Media folder was either omitted from the transfer, or was moved to the wrong location. For more information, see this article:

    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1408
Alternatively, if your media was downloaded from the iTunes Store, you may be able to download it again free of charge:

  • Loaded itunes and its blank (like a brand new user), all my files are not showing!

Loaded up my PC this morning and then started iTunes as per normal but itunes loaded as if It was the first time I have used it, nothing at all (I have 15,200 songs along with all my iphone data ). I use iTunes every day, last time was yesterday afternoon. iTunes does show me logged into with my account and i can access the itunes store. I have restarted the computer and nothing changes. I have not done any system updates on either the PC or iTunes. Im not going to re sync my iphone or ipod incase it syncs with it and removes all the files/data.
    Any suggestions please!!

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
In the unlikely event that your media has been wiped from your computer see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
When you get it all working make a backup!

  • Since changing our computer I have been unable to download ebooks to my Reader Library I get a message Some file types associated with EPUB files are not associated with Reader Library; Waterstones suggest that I may have accidentally created a new Adobe

When I try to download them from the Waterstones website I get a message saying:
‘Some file types associated with EPUB files are not associated with Reader Library.  Do you want to associate them now?  When I reply yes I get another message; ‘Configuration error unable to update EPUB files check network firewall and try again’.
The ‘books’ are saved in the Download directory and I can’t transfer them from there to my E-Reader. I have not had any problems before, it was very simple; I saved the download and it automatically went into the Reader Library.
I contacted HP and they said it is a software error and suggested I contact Waterstones.  I contacted Waterstones Customer Support and got the following response:
As the error message is specifically mentioning the firewall it does sound like something in the firewall settings is stopping the download from taking place correctly. However, the files should not be being saved to the Download folder. It would be worth trying again by going to your Digital Order History on your Waterstones.com account and pressing the download button, and then making sure to press "Open" not "Save". When you press Open rather than Save it should give the option to open the file with Adobe Digital Editions. If the firewall message still comes up then I'm afraid something is blocking it on your end.
If the above "Open" download method works but you then still get an error message it could possibly be that you have accidentally created a new Adobe ID when setting up on the new computer, rather than signing in with your old Adobe ID. It would be worth trying the aforementioned download technique again first, but if problems did still persist it would be worth calling Adobe themselves on 0207 365 0735, as they should be able to sort out any account issue.
In response to the first para of Waterstones email I already do what they suggest I do press ‘Open’ not ‘Save’ but I don’t get the open with Adobe Digital Editions (we have installed Adobe Digital Editions on the new computer. Waterstones say we may have ‘accidentally created a new Adobe ID when setting up the new computer’ does that mean that we shouldn’t have installed Adobe Digital Editions on the new computer as it would have already been there? How do I sign in with my old Adobe ID?

Hi all after attampting to get some supoport from adobe by phone.... nice people infurating policys as far as support for digital editions or DRM is conserned... However I got no where with support.
I ended up instaling Digital editions on my desktop PC and going through the motions of registering and borrowing a book then returning it. Then I trying on my iPad, Bluefire worked, Over drive did not so I completely removed Overdrive and reinstalled and re registered. all working now.
Maybe some one at adobe did something. Maybe the install of the adobe DE client on a PC corrected what ever was out of wack with my account. Mayby the server that my account lives on did a scan disk and corrected a bad clustrer.
What ever happend My account is actiove and working again. hope this helps others.

  • New version of ITunes installed - Not all music files are being recognized

My system crashed and Itunes was automatically 're-installed.' My music is located on my external hard drive. When I reconnected my music to ITunes about 3000 music files did not appear in my library. Before the re-install all music files were available in the library.
The music files are all still located on my external hard drive. Strangely, when I copied my music on my external hard drive to create yet another back up of my music many music files were missing on the copy. The missing files were a combination of downloaded music from a cd and purchased, no trend.
I welcome any advice on how I can get 1. my ITunes library to read all of my music files (which are in ITunes format) and 2. how do I copy all of my music on my external hard drive to make a safe back up (I-tunes back up is not an option because not all of the music appears in my library)
    Thanks for your help
