New Computer, Old iTunes

My old computer died on me so I now have a new one. How can I upload my old iTunes account with all of my music to my new computer?

*How can I upload my old iTunes account with all of my music to my new computer?*
Do you have any of your music from the old computer backed up? If you didn't make a back-up of your purchases to restore from then I'm sorry to say that the policy on lost purchases is that you have to pay to download them again:
"Once a Product is purchased and you receive the Product, it is your responsibility not to lose, destroy, or damage the Product, and Apple shall be without liability to you in the event of any loss, destruction, or damage." iTunes Store: Purchased content can be downloaded only once
You could try contacting the iTunes Music Store Customer Service and you might be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download. There have been occasional reports in the iTunes forum of this happening, however just be aware that they are not under any obligation to do so. If you click on any of the links on this page you'll find a space at the bottom to email your query: iTMS Customer Service
If you have an iPod that still has the purchases on it the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer

I have a new computer, downloaded itunes.  How do I get my old library back so I can sync w/ipod nano?

Do you still have the old PC around? If so, you might be able to still copy the iTunes library from that PC over to the one.
Or is the music still on your Nano?  If so, see this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different methods and software available to assist you with the task of copying content from your iPod back to your new PC and into iTunes.

Otherwise, you can redownload most iTunes purchases again at no cost using iCloud.  If the music and content was imported from outside of iTunes you'll need to either re-rip the tracks into iTunes or redownload them using whatever utility or store you originally purchased them from.

Anyone with information on this would be muchly appreciated!!! Thank you in advance! Oh and I currently have a windows but will be getting a mac book pro most likely

The music sync is one one way - computer to ipod.  The exception is itunes purchases.  File>Transfer Purchases

If you no longer have, or access to, the computer(s) you want to deauthorise,
Log in to iTunes,  go to "view your account info" on the itunes store, deauthorise all five,
(Please Note: this can only be done Once every 12 months)
Then re-authorize your current Computer(s) one at a time..

Create a dummy contact on your new PC in Outlook.  In iTunes, elect to synch your contacts with Outlook.  You will be prompted to "merge" your contacts.  Once done and all your contacts are on your computer in Outlook, you can delete the "dummy" contact.

  • My old computer's hard drive was destroyed.  How can I get my music, which is now located solely on my ipod classic, into my new computer's itunes?

I have already authorized the new computer using itunes.

If you purchased all of the songs through itunes store, please follow these steps:
    1. Open up Itunes and Click on Itunes Store
    2. Once you're in the Itunes Store look to right side of the screen and you should see the word "purchased". Click purchased and you'll be sent to a purchase screen.
    3. Click on "All Songs" and then it will show all the songs you've downloaded. From there you just hit the button that looks like a cloud with an arrow on it, and it will download all the songs all over again.
If you didn't purchase them through Itunes, then you'll have to download software that will strip the songs from your iPod onto your computer. And here is a guide about how to transfer iPod music back to computer. Hope it helps.

I received a new laptop.  the person that transferred all of my files, didn't know what they were doing when transferring itunes content.  Now I have my new computer and itunes doesn't contain all of my music.  I don't know how to set it up to recognize my account and I don't see any of my apps.  What do I do now?

Copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer.

  • I just bought a new computer, now itunes tells me I can only sync with one computer.  It only offers me the choice to erase and sync.  I do not want to erase my ipod, I just want my music on the new computer.  Can't I just transfer the songs from the ipod

I just bought a new computer.  Itunes only offers me the option of erase and sync, as I can only have it sync'd with one computer.  I want to move my music to this computer from my ipod.  Is this possible, or do I have to go back to my cds and upload everything from there?  I just want to be able to move my music from my ipod to the new computer.

You need to transfer your iTunes Library from the old computer to the new one - then you can carry on syncing as normal. You can't move non-purchased music from an iPod to iTunes using iTunes. For purchased music, choose iTunes > File > Transfer purchases...

  • I am interested in purchasing a new PC and wanted to transfer all of the music on my Itunes onto my new computer's Itunes the easiest was possible. Any suggestions?

I am interested in purchasing a new PC and wanted to transfer all of the music on my Itunes onto my new computer's Itunes the easiest was possible. Any suggestions?

These are two possible approaches that should work to move the existing library to the new laptop.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase are reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your library or a backup of it then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
