New Computer, Old Software -- I need hel

I just recently bought a Windows Vista 2007, and my MP3 player is a ZEN Micro that I bought back in 2006. I was able to install the actual programs (ZEN Media Explorer and Organizer/Player) off the CD, but when I tried to install the actual MP3 player itself, a message comes up that says it can't install the driver for the device. Is there anywhere I can go to download one suitable for the Vista model I'd appreciate any help I can get. Thank you.-Megan

  • New computer, old one crashed, need iTunes

My old computer crashed, thehard drive is toast. Can I transfer my songs on my iPod to my new computer? How?

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod to a computer
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    TuneJack Windows Only
    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iGadget Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only
    SharePod Windows Only
    iRepo Mac and Windows
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac and Windows
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows
There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • New computer/Old software

I'm in the market for a new computer for gaming, photo editing, family geneology and occasional craft stuff.  I have an old software program that I love and it no longer works on my current computer.  What are the chances of it working on a brand new computer? The program is: The Print Shop v.10

Im a Bulletin Board Moderator for Encore Software and we found out from our community manager that older Print Shop products are not supported under Vista.

  • Trying to reload adobe 10 and 7 on new computer. old one crashed. shows i need a serial number

purchased adobe 10 and 7 -- 2012 and 2013 -- trying to install on new computer. old one crashed. shows i need serial number. where do i get it. only have 6 discs.

Adobe is a company... what does "Adobe 10" and "Adobe 7" mean?
If you bought those on disc I don't think they are part of the Cloud
The serial number is usually on a sticker on the disc holder inside the box
If you lost your serial number check https://www.adobe.com/account.html for your registered products

Install it on the new machine, if you have run out of Activations then you will probably need to contact Adobe and explain what happened as far as the old computer crash and burning.

  • When transfering iTunes music from an older computer to a newer computer, do the versions need to be the same on both?

When transfering itunes music from my older computer to a newer computer, do both itunes need to be the same version?

No... the target machine needs to be running the same version or better.
These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
If you have an iOS device that syncs with contact & calendar data on your computer you should migrate this information too. If that isn't possible create a dummy entry of each type in your new profile and iTunes should offer to merge the existing data from the device into the computer, otherwise the danger is that it will wipe the information from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.

  • I own CS6, upgraded from CS5.5 and need new computer.  Do I need to reinstall all CS s'ware I own?

I own CS6 (upgraded from CS5.5) and need a new computer.  Will I need to reinstall every other CS package I own (in order) to get CS6 to work, or is there a quicker way to reinstall CS6?

There is a quicker way....Start with the CS6 installation directly, when prompted to enter the serial number for previous version, enter it and you should be good to go.

  • New computer/old ipod - how do I update my libray from my ipod?

new computer/old ipod - how do I update my libray from my ipod? the music wasn't transfered from cd's, shared music files...no purchased from the ipod store.

The ipod is not a storage/backup device. The sync is one way - computer to ipod.  The only exception is itunes purchases:  File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.  Use your backup copy to put everything on your new computer.

  • I transferred my library to my new computer (old one completely dead!) and the music transferred but not my audio books.  They aren't appearing in my purchased history.  Can anyone help?

I transferred my library to my new computer (old one dead!) and the music transferred to a new library ok, but not my audiobooks.  My purchased history doesn't show any purchasing in this format.  Can anyone help?

Audiobooks are a one-time only download from the store, so you won't be able to redownload them via the Purchased link. Do you have a copy of them on your iPod or on your backup of your downloads/library ? If not, and if they are still in your country's store, then you can try contacting iTunes Support and see if they will grant you a re-download : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

  • I need help getting itunes on my new computer. old one crashed

My old computer crashed, I downloaded iTunes on my new computer and need help getting all of my stuff on it that I had. I did 'home share' to see if that worked, and it didnt.
Also, on my old computer, when I synced my iPad & my husbands iPod, it didnt sync any music or podcasts, no videos-and i went through each category seperately to sync it and it didnt work. So I can't sync my devices to the new iTunes bc not everything is on there that i have purchased.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your comuter for just this occasion.  Use your backup copy to put everything on the new computer.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup, not good, then you can redownload some itunes purchases in some countries:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
