New Computer Stuck in Authorization Loop

I recently bought a new PC and I seem to be stuck in an authorization loop.  I successfully authorized the PC but some purchased songs from my library won't import or play on the new PC.  When I try and play from the shared library I get a pop up to authorize the computer even though it is already authorized.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

imported files and settings from my old Macbook using its hard drive
Therein lies the glitch.
Reformat your Mac using Lion Recovery
There's a file or setting that was imported that's causing the problem. Better to use your new Mac for a few days to make sure it's stable before importing data from another Mac.

only have 3 devices authorized, but my new computer will not authorize. Itune says there are 5 devices connected already. why?

Perhaps the five includes computers that you no longer own, or a computer that has had a replacement hard drive put in it.
In your iTunes account, De-authorise All and then authorise the computer(s) that you still use.

    Still NOT helping

Just solved it, at least my loop issue.
Make sure under itunes preferences and store tab that the box that says something like "Show Cloud I tunes purchases" is checked.
Then delete the title, empty trash, and the cloud symbol should come on showing it is available for download.
    Redownload.

  • Moved 9.2.1 library to new computer, can't authorize or sync to ipod

Moving from 10.4.11 to 10.6.8.  Current version of iTunes is 9.2.1 (I tried 10.6.3 and it crashed three times in a row, so I went back to what I was familiar with).  Everything went smoothly, all the music shows up, all of the playlists are generally correct (a few smart playlists forgot what some of their fields were supposed to be and reset to "Music").  The two problems I'm having are authorizing any AppleID, and syncing to the iPod.  I don't know if these are related.
When I try to authorize the old AppleID, we have about 70 or 80 songs purchased through an older AppleID, I get a -42408 error.  I checked the Shared Folder, ran the terminal sudo code from the support site, and then deleted the SC folder.  Still no success in authorizing the old AppleID.  When I try to authorize the current AppleID, all the same problems.  App Store does work.
Next problem is syncing to the iPod.  First time I tried everything seemed to work right, iTunes reported several gigs of music and a bunch of podcasts on the iPod.  When I ejected it, no music, no podcasts.  When I plugged it back in, all of that space was filled with "Other", and it warned me that I didn't have enough space to sync the playlists I had selected.  Restore.  Sync.  iPod can't be synce, files are in use.  Restore.  Can't restore, files are in use.  Disk Utility.  Erase.  iTunes.  Restore.  Can't restore, files are in use.  Quit everything and restart.  iTunes.  Sync.  Can't sync, files are in use.  Restore.  Can't restore, files are in use.  I even tried deleting the iPhoto iPod photo cache.  Still nothing.  What do I try next?

Have you played each track at least once within iTunes before you try and load the track to your iPod? If you haven't played the tracks once, try doing that and then see if they'll load; they may not be correctly authorized.
    Hope this helps.

  • I had been using ADE on old computer.  Downloaded it in new computer, but cannot authorize computer.

This is the message I receive. How can I solve the problem? Thanks.

Try this solution to fix permission issue:
Modify the manifest.xml file located in My Documents\My Digital
    Editions:
    STEPS
    1) Quit Digital Editions
    2) Make a backup copy of the manifest.xml (call it something like
    manifest.good)
    3) Open manifest.xml in notepad
    4) It will appears as one big long line of xml, and you are looking for a
tag called  start at the beginning of this
and select until you the end of the tag that looks called </de:deviceID>
    5) If you have attached more than one Reader there may be multiple of
these.  Delete all of them to make sure.
    6) Save the file (manifest.xml) and quit out of notepad
    7) Ensure you have the Reader plugged in
    8) Launch Digital Editions
    9) The Device Setup Assitant should come up.
      a) Do NOT click on the "Don't ask again for this device" checkbox.
      b) Do click on the "Authorize Device" button.

  • How do I authorize my new computer when I'm not getting a prompt to authorize?

I'm trying to authorize my new computer, however I'm not being prompted with a tab to authorize! Also I need to deactivate my old computer. How do I do these?

Log into iTunes Store on your old computer. Select De-authorize This Computer from the Store menu.
Log into iTunes Store on your new computer. Select Authorize This Computer from the Store menu.
About De-authorizing Computers (contributed by user John Galt)
You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
      1. Open iTunes on a computer
      2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
      3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
      4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
      5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.
Also, see iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization.

  • How do you set up iTunes 10.5 on a new computer?, How do you set up iTunes 10.5 on a new computer?

I have a new computer  with Windows 7, Outlook and I use iTunes with an Apple iPhone 4 and a iPad. My devices have iOS5. How do you set up iTunes 10.5 on a new computer and sync these devices. I have already downloaded iTunes 10.5 on my computer. Also, I use MobileMe. Thanks for your help. LCP

Thank you for your response. I have all of my files, etc. and am sitting here on the old computer. I just wasn't sure if I should simply save the iTunes program I am using or insall a new version.
After I get iTunes onto my new computer do I authorize the new computer before I plug in my IPod or after?
I'm sorry I didn't point out that I had all of my files available. For some reason, working with iTunes and my iPod make me nervous.
    Thanks again.

I have an IPod touch and have purchased a new computer with Windows 7.
Do I need to download ITunes first? What files should I copy to my new computer to make sure my IPod and computer will sync?
I'm working with two separate Profiles.
Last time I  had a computer problem, I worked days trying to get my IPod to sync only to find that the Photo file was in the wrong place. Don't want to go through that again.
    Thank you very much.

  • Transferring music to new computer

Hello, I'll try to keep this brief, sorry, I'm new to these forums too.
I am buying a new computer with a PCI-E setup because I currently run a lowly AGP and I am starting fresh, new hard drives, new everything.
How can I transfer all my music from my iTunes library on my current computer to my new computer?
Should I authorize my new computer and de-authorize my current computer?
I would like to keep my entire library of music and transfer it.
Any suggestions? I love my music but do not want to lose it all just because I am getting a new computer....

The cd will appear inside of iTunes, and you can import the songs to your library from there. Otherwise, you can open the cd in explorer, and simply drag the music folders into the iTunes program. Everything should import fine.
When you're creating the data disc playlist in iTunes, it should tell you at the bottom of the playlist how many mbs the files are taking up. However, I'd simply put ALL your music into one playlist, and when burning iTunes will inform you that it will take multiple discs to complete the session. Agree to this and after it's done burning files to one disc, you simply insert another. And so on, depending on how much music you have.

  • ITunes keeps prompting me to authorize my computer when I try to play a movie I rented.  Then it tells me my computer is already authorized and I'm stuck in a loop.  I've tried all the troubleshooting options but no luck.

iTunes keeps prompting me to authorize my computer then tells me it's already authorized and I'm stuck in a loop. The troubleshooting options haven't worked.  Any suggestions or does anybody have a phone number for iTunes so I can talk to a human being about this?

  • Can't authorize my account to new computer

I have previously authorized my account on a few of my old computers. When i wiped the hard drives my account stayed authorized to those computers. Now im stuck with my account authorized to 5 computers that dont even exist anymore, and i cant sync my ipod to my new computer because all 5 of my authorizations are used up.

Deauthorize all 5 and re-authorize the new one again.  Bare in mind you can only Deauthorize all once a year.

  • ITunes stuck in authorization/payment endless loop

I'm trying to buy stuff on iTunes.  I have a $25 card that I redeemed, and the amount of credit shows up in the upper right hand corner like it's supposed to.  However, when I try to buy a song, iTunes keeps running me through a payment authorization window.  It wants me to charge it to a credit card, and when I click on the option to redeem a card it wants me to put in a new one.
It keeps having me type in my password over and over.  I had this trouble trying to buy an app until I finally gave it a credit card number, and then it finally allowed me to buy an app, even though I had plenty of credit using the gift-type cards.  I still have plenty of credit with the iTunes and App Store cards, why does it want a credit card?  And why isn't it working now?  This is driving me nuts.  -J

    Hello and Wow,
Anyone have any luck with this? I've tried re-installing itunes, de-authorizing and authorizing computer, and finally trying to configure every setting on both my iphone and itunes. Over and over I get the authorization loop. Computer is authorized. When I sync, computer is not authorized. Both Itunes and iphone are up to date. The weird thing about this is it worked fine in December-08. I try to sync and backup once a month but January is all about the loop - out of the blue. The only thing I've done since the last successful sync/backup was to buy a couple of apps in the app store over my iphone which I do all the time. Very frustrated. Not sure I'm a itunes fan anymore. I'm an IT guy and very careful with my equipment/software/hardware and for this to start happening out of the blue points to unstable software/updates/technical group issues. I've searched the internet high and low, is this an issue that Mac needs to publicly come clean on? Wow, I guess I'll just have to be careful until they release a fix. Scary situation to be in.

It sounds like two Apple accounts were used in the purchase of songs, yours and hers.  Assuming she won't give you her password, you're kinda stuck.  For $129 or so you can repurchase them all.
By the way, if she has the computer and it has your account info in it, you ought to change your password.
