New Computer, want to upload songs onto new computer

I just bought a new I-MAC and want to get all of my music onto the new computer, but when I hookup my i-pod, it says I can only sync with one computer and I have already done this on another computer(it is a PC that has recently died). I have heard about "rippers" but there has to be an easier way to do this. I am sure I'm not the first one to encounter this, and I have looked for a way to fix this but haven't been able to find one...I am still learning the Mac operating system.
Thanks for the help

Apple doesn't support the transferring of music from your iPod to your iTunes. Only iTunes to iPod. So to do this you will need to download a third party program that will help copy your music from your iPod back to your computer, or there are a couple manual methods you can check out.
THIRD PARTY PROGRAMS
Senuti - Mac Only

iPod Access - Windows & Mac

iPodCopy - Windows & Mac ( moves videos too)

YamiPod - Windows & Mac

PodUtil - Windows & Mac

Personally I was in the exact position you are, I used Senuti to take the music off my Pc formated iPod and put it on my new Mac. It was easy, worked perfect, took me about an hour to get it off and reload it all back to my iPod. Saved me a lot of time and headaches, Good Luck

  • Upload songs onto my computer

hey, how do i upload songs from my ipod onto my computer? i got some songs from another comp on my ipod which i want on my comp, how do i do this? cheers joe

Normally all you need do is copy the entire iTunes folder from the music folder in your profile on the old computer into the music folder in your profile on the new one. If the library and media folders were split into separate locations then it is much the same, but the media folder should be restored to the same absolute path it previously occupied.

  • Trying to upload songs onto ipod

I've had my ipod for about 4 months now. i just got out to school about a month ago and today was the first time trying to upload some new songs onto it. when it connected to my computer, it would show the "do not disconnect screen" on it, then reset. i tried doing this 3 or 4 times, and it has yet to work. i was wondering how i could go about fixing this, or if it's just a problem with my ipod that i can't fix? thanks a lot.

I had/have the same problem. I say both - because I went ahead and had to restore the ipod tonight. Itunes nor my PC would recognize it. I downloaded the upgrades for itunes and the ipod installed them both. Went ahead and uploaded all the songs again and it worked fine. Then I disconnected the ipod, uploaded another cd to see if it would upload to the ipod and nope it wouldnt. Itunes would not recognize it. The only way I can disconnect it now is to shut off the PC because all I get is the "do not disconnect" warning. When the PC finally does recognize it - it tells me I need to update the lastest software for the ipod, but then it freezes and when it finally does actually do something - it only gives me the option to restore it. I dont want to do another restore and am at a total loss of what to do next. I have read thru the FAQ's and cant find anything that helps unless I am overlooking it. So any help would be great. Hope we get this problem worked out..Thanks

  • Uploading songs onto your iPhone

Hello, I have recently purchased a CD to learn a new language. I have successfully imported the CD onto my Imac/Itunes libary and the tracks play when i double click on them. I would love to transfer these tracks onto my iphone. I have previously purchased songs before on itunes and they automatically synch with my iphone but the CD has not. When I try and play the tracks off my iphone it first said i was unable to as Genius was not enabled. I enabled Genius but then the message says there are not enough related songs to play the track. Is it possible to play a track without it having to be in a Genius Playlist?
If anyone can help me I would be forever greatful!
    Thank you.

Nah, you can pretty much just plug it in and let it do it's thing. Besides you have a full backup... on your iPod.

  • How do I upload songs onto my new computer from external hard drive

Hello!  I purchased a new computer and I am trying to upload my Itunes libraries onto it.  I was able to download all the files/songs/apps from my old winodws XP computer to an external hardrive.  I can open the exterenal hard drive on the new computer (Windows 7) but I do not know how to upload all info on the hard-drive into Itunes.  I found a way to click one folder at a time an upload one song at a time but that would require 4 or 5 clicks per song and it would take forever to do it this way.  Is there a way to transfer everything (files/folders/playlists/apps etc) all at one time?  I have reaad posts about authorizing new computers etc but have no idea what that means or how to do it.  I am new to Itunes so if you could walk me through the steps I would appreciate it greatly.  I have 5 Iipods sharing music on one computer so I really don't want to have to start my library from scratch.  Thank you for your help.

  • I was uploading songs onto matches when i had to reboot for another reason. When the computer rebooted and i opened iTunes, the Matches tab isn't there anymore. How do i solve this?

I know for sure that my uploads weren't done but i wanted to see how the iMac would react.
    How do i fix this?

Sounds like iTunes Match may have gotten disabled for some reason. Pull down Store > Turn On iTunes Match and add your computer again.

  • How to re-upload songs onto Nano

    Hey all,
I got the Nano last week and know little about how to operate it. I had been using it while out of town, and thinking that I could, plugged it into someone else's computer to charge the battery as I didn't have my computer with me at the time. The songs are all deleted as I see this isn't allowed, and I can't get them back. My iTunes still has the log of all of my songs and they're checked, but when I try "Update my iPod" nothing happens (it says upload complete but there are no songs on the ipod). I downloaded the update software and restored it (or should have) to factory settings supposedly. My pictures are still on there, but the songs will not load. What should I do to put the songs back onto the iPod? I am at a loss at this point.. Any advice appreciated..
    Thanks in advance..

    Hi all..
Thank you for your help and responses. I have "update all automatically", and have attempted to make a new playlist to no avail. I made a playlist and when I go to "update ipod" , the ipod screen says don't disconnect but when you go into the music none of the songs are downloaded. I'm not sure what else to do-my songs are all sitting there in the library! I don't know if there's any help for me other than returning it.. Thanks for your help..

You should just copy everything from the old computer, or your backup copy of the old computer, to the new one.

  • Uploading songs

I recently bought a 60 gb ipod photo. however, when i try to upload songs onto it, it has an error message that says "the disk could not be read from or written to." this is an inconsistent message and occasionally one or two songs will work. i have itunes 6.

Have you updated using the new iPod Updater?
    This could fix your problem

  • Error message came up when i tried to upload music onto iPod

When I went to upload songs onto my ipod, itunes told me that there wasn't enough space on my ipod to hold all of my songs. i thought nothing of it so i just deleted some of the songs i didn't listen to anymore.
i went to re-upload my music and an error message popped up stating: "Songs on ipod cannot be synced because all of the playlists selected for syncing no longer exist".
    Any advice?
Would restoring my iPod fix this problem?
    Thanks!!!

i went to re-upload my music and an error message popped up stating: "Songs on ipod cannot be synced because all of the playlists selected for syncing no longer exist".
Plug the ipod in, and when it connects to iTunes go into your "Music" tab for the iPod.
Under "Sync Music" you will currently have "Selected playlists" selected. In the box under that, uncheck any playlists that currently do not exist in your iTunes Sourcelist.
At this point you could either select playlists that you do want to sync to the ipod ... or, if you've trimmed your library enough, you could just select "All songs and playlists" (up under "Sync Music"). Now click the Apply button and you should be syncing again.

Ok so sorry for clogging the community!! I figured it out - you have to copy your videos into itunes manually. I did that, synched and all good!

  • New computer, uploading songs

I just got a new computer, and downloaded some songs on to it using iTunes. All of my iPod's songs are on my old computer. Itunes won't let me upload any of the new songs to my iPod, it keeps asking if I want to clear them all off and reroute the iPod to this computer. I do want to use the new computer to upload songs, but do I have to clear every song off of my iPod and upload them again using my new computer? Thanks!

Your iPod is set to automatically update which is why you are getting the message that your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press *No*. Pressing "Yes" will remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it: Managing Your Songs Manually
You can also use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys (on a Mac hold down the Option and Command (⌥ and ⌘) keys). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer. Then go to Edit>Preferences>iPod and check the "Manually manage songs and playlists" box.
You can't sync or drag your music back directly from an iPod to iTunes, the transfer of music is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward.
    YamiPod Mac and Windows Versions
    iGadget Windows Only
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
iPod Access Mac and Windows Versions
    PodUtil Mac and Windows Versions
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
    PodPlayer Windows Only
Keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync again.
Alternatively there are a few things you could do to move your iTunes from one computer to the other. You could network the two computers, use an external hard drive or even use your iPod to make the move as a hard drive. Have a look at this User Tip: Migrating iTunes for Windows to a new PC
If you can network the computers there is also this one: Copying songs over a network to use with iTunes for Windows
