New computer-wiped all songs of nano

I've just wiped over 700 songs off my Nano, as I just set up Itunes on my new laptop and somehow managed to wipe them all off when connecting the Nano to Laptop. I'm not a techinal person so I'm asking for help off anyone who knows how to resurect my tunes without me having to spend weeks reloading them onto laptop. (wouldn't know where to begin)

Pressing "Erase and Sync" when iTunes brings up the dialogue window asking whether you want to replace the songs on your iPod with the songs in this iTunes does exactly what it says. If you linked to an iTunes with only a few or completely different songs it will have erased your original iPod song list. There are some data recovery programs on the market. I've no personal experience of them so I can't say how effective they are, here's an example: iPod Data Recovery
None of the recovery programs are particularly cheap so you have to decide if in your particular circumstances it's worth it to get your songs back.

  • New computer erase all songs

i got an ipod for christmas and got tons of songs on my home computer and now i charge it on my laptop and their are no songs on my ipod how do i get them back?
    please help

Sounds like your iPod is set to auto update when you connect to a computer? If so when you connect it to a computer with an empty or different iTunes library it will automatically syncronise and update. If you plan to use your iPod on more than one computer you need to change the preferences to manual song management. There's a tutorial on the subject here: http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/tutorial/ipgettingstartedt3.html

This happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout, or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .

I switched my music to a new computer and all the music doubled how can I get rid of 4500 duplicates songs? Will Music Match get rid of the extras for me?

The iPod is not a storage device, all songs should reside on a computer and you can only sync to one machine. However, if these songs were purchased from iTunes you can reload them (see link). If not, and you have no backup, then they are gone.

Used ipod as a drive to copy songs into new itunes on new computer. Some songs do play in entirety, last 30 seconds to minute cuts off with nothing plyaing, or it suddenly starts playing a different song. "TIme" shown is correct in the file. Any way to fix this?

I copied the iTunes file from the external drive and it's in both places.  I thought all I would need is the iTunes program (which I downloaded to new computer) and my iTunes library file.  There must be something else that's missing.  My iTunes library looks the same on the new computer as it does when I open it on the external drive.  If I click on an iTunes library song from my new computer, it will only play if I have the external drive plugged in.
My back-up drive is a mess.  I have multiple copies of music, video, photo, and document files and I don't know how that happened. ={  Obviously, I don't know how to back up stuff properly and there are back-up files extending over a 6- to 8-year period.  I think all I did was just drag and drop the main folders from the back-up drive to the same main folders on the C: drive.  Also (and I'm kind of fuzzy on this) Windows used to automatically save music files in a folder within my document files (which makes no sense to me).  As my Jewish friends would say, "Oy Vey!"

I bought acrobat adobe professtional version II in 2012.  Now I re-download this software to my new computer.  All info was downloaded.  But when I opened the file, I need to verify the serial number.  I entered.  But it showed up that the serial number is valid, but the qualifying product could not be found.  I could not be able to find Ver 11 from the list.  What can I do?

The qualifying product is the older version that you owned before you purchased the upgrade to version.  It is what qualifies you to use the less expensive upgrade version.  So you need to select the older version and provide its serial number to prove that you qualify for using the upgrade.

I got a new computer and all applications were transferred from the old one. Is there some help around this?

It appears that you have the CS. What new OS do you have. If it is Win 8.1, you may have to purchase a new version of Acrobat for that system. Folks have succeeded with AA 8.1 on Win 7, but I have not heard of any successful installs on Win 8.1. As for the issue you have with the new OS, you do have to follow the CS install process that is different than the stand-alone Acrobat (there are some posts that discuss the process if you search).

  • Itunes on new computer wiped out old songs while sync

My old computer that i had my collection on had to be trashed, so my songs were backed up on an external hard drive and i transfered them over to a new computer with the same account. Problem is, when i went to sync the ipod because i made some new purchases, it only synced the new ones while completely wiping all my old songs from my ipod. Before i could play my old songs on my itunes, now i cannot.
Did i miss a step somewhere? Or do i just need to get a new ipod?

    1) Without connecting your iPad to your laptop, start iTunes. Click on Edit. Click on Preferences. Click on Devices. Check the box next to "Prevent your iPod etc. from automatically syncing." Click OK.
    2) Now connect your iPad to your laptop and start iTunes.
    3) When iTunes starts, right click on your iPad under Devices in the left column. Select Transfer purchases etc.
    4) After it finishes transferring all your apps to your new laptop, right click on your iPad and select Backup your iPad.
    5) After it finishes backing up your iPad, right click on your iPad and select Restore etc.
    6) After it finishes restoring, left click on your iPad , then click on the Apps tab on top, and check the box next to Sync Apps, then click on Apply below.
If everything on your iPad looks good after the sync, go back and click on Edit / Preferences / Devices and UN-check the box next to Prevent your iPod etc. The only other thing you may want to check is if your contacts, bookmarks, etc. are syncing correctly now. If not, go to the Info tab after connecting and make sure you indicate which features you want to sync with what sources.
    That should do it.

  • TS1474 When I downloaded the new itunes to my new computer not all the songs transfered from my account. Most of the songs were on for over a year. How do I get these songs back?

We don"t use itunes very often, but when we do there alwys seems to be a new version to down load. We just get used to the old one. Now with the new computer we wanted to download the new version and transfer our old songs. I'm missing all the old albums I purchased last year and the year befor. How can I get these valuable products back?

You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • When attempting to play songs on itunes, getting error message that file cannot be found and asked if i want to locate it.  not sure where it went. do have new computer and all files were transferred to new machine.

I just tried to play some songs that i have in itunes and i get an error message that says file can't be located.  It appears to be on about half the songs of the thousands I have in there.  I do have a new computer and transferred the itunes library about a month ago.  I have successfully managed ipod on new computer.  I wonder if it is a licensing issue but this is just the second computer althought the third hard drive these songs have been on.  It is affecting songs loaded from CD's and purchased from itunes on the old computer alike.

    Hi angela dfromtx,
When tracks in iTunes display a it means the file cannot be located; it may have been moved or deleted. You'll have to locate the file manually if it is still available. For more information refer to the following article:

Alternatively, if your media was downloaded from the iTunes Store, you may be able to download it again free of charge:

  • I just got a new computer and I'm trying to sync my Ipod to the new computer not all of my items are coming over to the new computer

I'm having trouble getting all of my apps and photos to sync to the new computer and only about half of my music will copy over.  What am I missing?

It will only move "purchased" songs - i.e. those bought through the iTunes store. Anything that you loaded into iTunes from another source (CD, bought elsewhere, etc.) has to be either reloaded from that source, or brought over via iTunes "Home Sharing".
In my own experience, Home Sharing works the best - although it can take literally days, depending on how large your music/ap/movie library is on the original computer.

  • I copied downloaded songs to a new computer.  These songs were downloaded with an old account that has been closed.  How do I open these songs now?

I copied all my music to a brand new computer.  I have songs that I purchased from iTunes in the list that are from a closed Apple ID.  I can't open them now.  What steps do I take to get them to work again?

If these tracks were purchased prior to the iTunes Store removing copy protection, the computer would need to be authorized to the iTunes Store account under which the tracks were purchased. If you remember the old account ID and password, you can try authorizing - go to the Store menu in iTunes and select the "authorize computer" command - and see if it will work. If it doesn't, or you know for certain that the account was disabled, you'll need to contact the iTunes Store and ask for assistance:
