New computer with old itunes

I took my iTunes off my old PC using an external hard drive and still my new computer asks me if I want to erase and install on new iPhone. If I do this will I loose info ?

Copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder (not just the media folder) from the old computer to the new computer.

Hi,
what is the easiest / best way to get up and running with my new computer(The old one died). The old WRT54 router is working fine and is up and running as always.
Do i need to change the router settings or install any software on the new machine?
Also earlier the router was configured with WEP security. If I were to upgrade to WPA, what would i need to do.

if the router is up and running, no need for you to reinstall or reconfigure the router. As long as you can go online when new pc is connected to it, no worries...it will work fine...If you want to change the encryption from wep to wpa, just go to the website, www.linksys.com/kb and search for the answer id 2651...

Updating new computer with old iPod

I just received a new computer and installed iTunes on it. My question is, how do I get all the music from my iPod Mini onto the new computer? They're the same songs that are on my old computer. I'm guessing there's a really easy way to do this that I've overlooked. Thanks for any help.

i went and bought an external harddrive and connected to old Computer just copied the Itunes Music file on to it then connected to new computer and Pasted to music folder If you want to spend the money If not then just return it LOL

New computer and old ITunes library

Our old IMac finally gave up the ghost and was decommissioned because of mother board malfunction. We saved the hard drive. We replaced the old computer with a MacBook. When my daughter tries to download songs from her ITunes account to her Shuffle, all of her titles show up but the ones from the old computer are grayed out and unresponsive. When she tries to download songs she has added since we acquired our new MacBook, she gets a message that says "The IPod 'K.... Shuffle' is synced with another ITunes library. Do you want to erase this IPod and sync with this IPod's library"?
Is it just a matter of erasing her IPod and repopulating from the ITunes on the new computer? She's afraid she'll loose all of her songs if she does that but it seems to me she can just reload after she resyncs.

Unfortunately, her old songs were on her IPod and I thought they were on the MacBook Itunes (they appeared but were grayed out). The old songs disappeared when she restored her Ipod. I tried to access her ITunes library on the old hard drive but it says I "can't open ITunes with the current
version" (or something close to that). All is lost?

Syncing new computer with old music files with Iphone.

Hello all, recently I got a new computer and transfered all my old music files over and updated my itunes on my new pc. I also de-authorized my old pc and authorized my new pc. However, when I plug in my Iphone into my new computer it doesn't seem to be syncing at all. I've also added a new album to my music files on my new pc and since my iphone isn't syncing, the songs haven't shown up on my phone. I was wondering does anyone have a solution to this? or what I need to do to have my new pc syncing with my iphone?

New ipod with old itunes, do I have to unistall old ipod?

I recently purchased a new iOS 8.1 ipod touch to replace my 6.6. When installing it I told iTunes to place certain old playlists on my new ipod. Now I'm getting new syncing errors in which it loses my place in audiobooks. Never had this happen before.
As a computer challenged old man, is there something I need to do to make this my new default player. I wonder if its resetting my files to what my old ipod had rather than resyncing it with the current position on my new ipod.

They are in the Audio book library and not in your Music library, right?
In iTunes on your computer in the Get Inof for the Audio Books is remember playback position checked?
Try:

- Unsync/delete all audiobooks and resync
To delete all AudioBooks go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Manage Storage>Music and delete them

All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

The ipod will sycn to one and only one computer at a time. Syncing to another will indeed erase the content from the ipod.
Copy everything form your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

Can i use the old itunes with my new nano???? Because the new ituns want dl and I cant get help no where, this *****!!! I guess I bought a $200 turd!!!!!! I guess I should just go buy a walk man, I dont need a pc for that.....yet!!!!!!

You can authorise your account on a computer's iTunes via the Store drop-down menu at the top of iTunes - if you using a PC with iTunes 11 then Alt-S should get the Store menu to appear.

New computer, transferred old iTunes library, now cannot edit track info?

On my old laptop (Vista) I ran my iTunes library from an external hard drive. I have now got a new laptop (Windows 7) and transferred the iTunes library information to the new computer. The media files are still stored on the external hard drive, but I am unable to edit any track information; it is all greyed out.
I have changed folder permissions and administrator settings and ensured the files aren't read-only but still can't find a solution. Anyone know what I'm missing?

Did you grant yourself and system full control of the media folder and all files & subfolders? See this post...

The music sync is one way - computer to iphone. The exception is itunes purchases. Without syncing: File>Transfer Purchases
Just use your backup copy. This is one of the many reasons that always maintaining a backup is basic.

I picked up a new laptop and disposed of my very old desktop. i have my itunes lirary stored on an external drive. Everytime i try to launch itunes or sync my ipod (60Gig video) i get the error/warning stating......."The iTunes Library.itl files is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have write permission for this file."...........suggestions on how i can get this thing working?

The problem is in the registry.
However there is a quick work around. Start iTunes with the shift key held down and when asked to choose a library, navigate to the location of the library files and choose iTunes Library.itl
I assume that this will be on the external dive - you did have your library database files on the external drive didn't you? (The two library data base files are iTunes Library.itl and iTunes Music library.xml)
If you didn't and you no longer have access to the old PC, you will have to start adding your library to iTunes again from scratch. Ask again if you need help with this.
