New Configuration Editor

Hi,
Just wanted to know is the new configuration editor is available in Netweaver 7.0. We are currently on basis SP 16.
For SAP delivered demo configurations we can see the data just like the configuration editor as explained in Mentor hands on session excercises. For new configuration of custom development we still get the old editor.
Is this a bug or new editor is not supported in 7.0

Hi,
the new config editor (for component configuration) was introduced with 7.0 SP14.
You could check the parameters of CONFIGURE_COMPONENT_OLD, if there's the parameter for the old configurator on X, then the old editor is shown.

Hi,
I need to modify my tag configuration programmatically, importing new text files (the modifications involve for instance tag creations).
Programmatically, I can launch, stop and load a scf file in the tag engine, but how can I import a new file and save the .scf file?
I don't want to have any manual operation involving the tag configuration editor.

You will not be able to do this with the current version of DSC. The importing of text configuration to create the SCF file requires the usage of the Tag Configuration Editor -- which is unfortunately a manual process. (I don't see how spawning another app would help here.)
Anyways, rumor has it that Programmatic Tag configuration will be available in one of the future versions

"Access denied. Login again" when creating New Configuration in Object Edit

Hi all,
I am trying to complete ]<a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/43/8d77556536267fe10000000a1553f7/content.htm">My First Composite Application</a> but got stuck at the step <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/43/95c95b9fc32293e10000000a1553f6/content.htm">Configuring the Object Editor User Interface</a>. When I try to create a new configuration, I get the error message "Access denied. Login again", but I have no idea where to change to overcome this.
Please advise me, if you have any idea.

I am sorry but I haven't check this forum in the last weeks because of lack of time. Thanks for your hint regarding a potential solution. Taking a look a the note I have some problem in "using" it.
This note contains a number of potential solutions regarding our problem.
Solution 1.) one could use the modification as described. Surprising to read that SAP is saying: do a modification to solve the problem. => this is only possible "manually" I am not sure If I will follow this approach
Solution 2.) Change the URL: This solution scenario I do not understand. The solution path is "very" short and not very instructive. This is the story:
You can do this by adding "_OLD" to the name of the application of the URL created for the configuration: Use "CONFIGURE_APPLICATION_OLD" instead of "CONFIGURE_APPLICATION"
and "CONFIGURE_COMPONENT_OLD" instead of "CONFIGURE_COMPONENT". If you want to use this function as your standard, you have to change the original application. To do this, set the parameter "OLD_TR" to "X".
This solution path is "to short". I do not get the "message" what to do.
Furthermore: Does that mean you have to use this peculiar solution any time durnig software development of webdynpro components using configurations? In my opinion yes. This is therefore only a "workaround solution" and nothing else.
And there can I find this parameter "old_tr" they are talking about?
Sap note 1060287 is the "same" kind (Symptom of this note:
If you use the configuration editor, there may be errors during transport handling or
DYNPRO_SEND_IN_BACKGROUND crashes.).
Here they are saying:
"Solution
A final solution will be provided for Release 7.0 BASIS Support Package 13."
So in SP13 there seems to be a solution (I haven't found up to now the corresponding note). But does that now mean I must implement the complete support package?
So I am sorry: No progress on my side up to now. May be you have had some success?

New ABAP editor: problems with the paste function

Hi all,
for a few weeks, I am working with the new frontend editor now. It is great - however, there is a thing I don't understand using the paste function. Let's make an example:
i put the following lines into clipboard by highlighting the entire lines and pressing CTRL+C
select * from ztmk
         where kunnr in s_kunnr.
after pasting (CTRL+C) it shows up like this:
select * from ztmk
where kunnr in s_kunnr.
Is it a bug or a feature?

Saving bookmarks in the new ABAP editor?

Hi experts,
either I'm stupid or something but I don't see how I can save my code boomarks for future usage. I mean the bookmarks which can be created by CTRL + ALT + number and navigation to them by CTRL + number.
The similar problem I have with saving my break-points set in the new ABAP editor.
Could you please give me a tip how I can save it I'm using SAP GUI 710 patch level 4.

As long as your S2000 has an USB ADD, you will be able to use it with OmniDriver-SPAM. The HR2000 will work fine.

Problem using new ABAP editor in GUI 7.20

Hi Guys,
I need some help. I am running SAP GUI 7.20 on Windows 7 professional.
When I open the new ABAP editor from SE38 it does not open the mouse pointer keeps rotating for ever.
I tried changing the setting to ABAP Editor old. It did work this time, I could open the ABAP editor.
I also tried uninstalling and re installing the SAP GUI,but the problem persists.
Please suggest if anyone has a solution for this.

New Content Editor not displaying website with CSS

I am sure I am doing something wrong, but I just am not sure where to start. I am able to edit my website under the old InContext editor and it displays just fine:
However, when I try using the new Content Editor, this is what I see:
What am I doing wrong? I am using dreamweaver to upload my site. I can't figure it out.

It' a known issue, pages displayed in the new ICE fail to load relative resources.CSS, images, scripts.
As an workaround: use paths relative to the site root to link to resources, always starting wth a slash /.
For example:

JDeveloper 11g Toplink Session Configuration Editor Error

Hi everone,
In JDeveloper11g Relase1, Session Configuration Editor doesn't run correctly, always crashes,
and session.xml configuration file has validation errors, for example:
element primary-project not expected.
element login not expected.
element connection-pools not expected.
When I run a project, session.xml file doesn't parse correctly so no database connection establisted.

New ABAP editor - opinions

I am interested to know other people's opinions on the new ABAP Editor and Debugger. I just started to use the new editor and I am kind of dissapointed:
- the code completion feature is a far cry from the Java editor. It shows only one element in the code completion list based on a strange rule (I think it is first in the alphabetical order, and then based on the previously selected item)
- it does not provide code completion for types
- the code completion dissapears after a short period of time (why isn't the code completion triggered on a CTRL-key ?!)

It appears that you are focusing on the code completion as the source of your disappointment. Let me brighten your day a bit by saying that the real code completion has not yet been shipped. In a future release of Netweaver, there will be full code completion very similar to what you have in the java area, where you will type a class name and get a list of methods to choose from. This functionality is not there in NetWeaver 7.0, but if you pay close attention when working in the editor you will see small pieces that will evolve into the full blown code completion. For example, in your editor type.....

After you typed the "o", there should have been a dropdown box with a bunch of suggestions to complete the statement. (This may not work depending on the gui, but it does in my system, NetWeaver 7.0 SP10, using Gui 7.10 Patch 1.
So again, you are right, the code completion is not really up to par, and never really claimed to be, but just wait, the real code completion is coming.

With the new Editor, you can launch the code completion with the combination "Ctrl + Space".

Hi kutam,
it comes with support packages since 4.7 and GUI640 and is included in ECC600.
Use tools->settings to switch to new editor.
