New contacts will not update via cloud on mac

I first sync'ed my contacts from iphone 3GS ios6 onto new mac pro book via the cloud. It worked fine. But if I amend or change the contacts on my phone those changes simply do not seem to appear on the mac contacts list. I have deleted the list off the mac several times and started again but each time once I set the icloud sync option on the mac or iphone, the same old contact list appears and not the new amended list on my iphone. The cloud is working fine for calendar updates but not for contacts.

When I try to update from within an app (Illustrator) the Applicaitons Manager appears differently, and is appearing to work. But, I only have one version of the manager installed--at least searching for another only finds one copy... Confused!

At first I also thought this to be a bug with Match an smart playlists. When I first activated Match on my iPhone the 'recently added' playlist (which holds about 200 songs on my MacBook Pro) was vompletely empty on the phone. But - After buying some music and downloading some additional songs from the cloud - it was slowly beginning to fill up with this newly added music.
So I guess Apple has quietly made smart playlists device-sensitive. 'recently added' actually means 'recently added in the specific device you are using to view this playlist'. In fact this would just be a logic step. But it would be great if Apple had documented this change of behaviour and would give us the option to make playlists device-relative or cloud-relative.

New contacts will not stay saved

I add a new contact to my phone. It stays saved for a few minutes. When i go back through the messages/ call list where I saved the number (to a name), it only shows the number and the contact is no longer saved in my contact list.

do u have icloud contacts turned on? do u have a computer that you sync your phone too? this happened to me a while ago when icloud was first introduced and i thought was fixed. i had contacts synced on my phone from my mac and then had a contact profile already saved in icloud prior. when i turned icloud on it had a conflict witht he new contact profile that was on my phone and the previous that was saved on the cloud. i had to delete the cloud contact by logging on to the icloud site and removing that contact list and then turning the cloud back on so it matched what was on my phone. i thought that problem was fixed so i am not sure if it will help you but thought i could maybe help

Is there a fix for Contacts will not update in Outlook from iphone visa vera

I cannot say when the problem began, however, if I make a change in a contact on the iphone it won't update OUtlook on my PC and visa versa. It will add completely new contacts but won't update anything that already exists. Is this a general problem? Is there a fix?

Syncing contacts and calendar events over the air with an iCloud account has nothing to do with syncing with iTunes.
On your iPhone go to Settings > iCloud.
If Contacts is turned on for over the air syncing, turn it off. A warning message and prompt will be provided asking about what to do with the previously synced contacts with iCloud. Select Delete from iPhone. After all contacts are deleted from your iPhone, turn Contacts back on for over the air syncing. After all contacts are downloaded, confirm the contacts on your iPhone match your online contacts with iCloud.
If so, repeat this with your iPad.

Server 2012 R2 Clients will not update via WSUS

We're having a problem with our Server 2012 R2 servers not updating as of about a month ago. I've read the article about KB2959977. I don't know if that is the issue or not, but the timing seems about right. If I go to install this update
on the affected servers, I get a Window that just hangs at "Searching for updates on this computer".

I've attempted deleting it from the actual WSUS server itself, stopping the service, deleting the Software Distribution folder, restarting the service, wuauclt /resetquthorization /detectnow and various other combinations to re-initialize but all I end up
getting are these constant messages in the logs.

Run nslookup WSUSservername, does the output show the correct IP address?

Ipad 2 will not update via wifi nor iTunes

I have waited and tried to update to iOS 7. When trying to update via wifi I get unable to check for update. I plugged into iTunes and I get there is a problem downloading software for iPad. An unknown error occurred - 12002. I click more info and nothing on this page helps. Has anyone had this problem? Help!

IBooks not updating via cloud...

Here's the situtation: I've got a retina iPad running latest IOS and iBooks. I have roughly 780 books little to no pdfs due to the ongoing pdf errors of not loading.
I've updated to mavericks. Open ibooks app it transfered about 715 books over.
I found about 80 books show the icloud icon next to them.
So I selected all and pressed update.
It downloaded them then I got errors about books not being able to be downloaded.
They're still in iBooks and readbable but if I want to update them I have to go into ibooks's search bar and search by name or author and update them one at a time.
Meanwhile the edit button is loading for a good 2-3 minutes as well so I have to ask:
1. What can I do besides doing these updates by hand?
2. Who do we have to sleep with to get some IOS 7 love into iBooks? Judging from the threads I think the app needs an overhaul.
I spend the time switching formats but I can't stand Amazon's UI...

As you have seen the "fixes" are an indicator that your problem exists and Apple may or may not have had feedback enough yo address this in a later update.
Meanwhile, as I have written previously, IF the process you are using does not auto update and your latest book holds all the "old" information plus the update....why do you/they need to keep it on their device?
If you have sent a new book using Dropbox to one or all of those intended to have it, and they open Dropbox and select the book to be opened in iBooks and it does not auto update and you prefer not to use the fixes suggested, basically the last option you have is for the recipients to delete the old book first.
The other option which will give you auto updates....is to deliver your book via the iBookstore and if you do not have a free books account, its easy to open one.I suggest an account for the books and separate from your own account.
Its an easy process to initially deliver your first book to the store and once online, you simply deliver your update when you its ready and allow a few days for it to be reviewed. That way everybody gets auto update of your manual.
If having your book in the store and available, is a problem..you restrict availability to your country only.
If being available to outsiders is a problem, then you have to do decide which option suggested you prefer.

Pages, Numbers and Keynote will not update via app store

App Store tells me there are updates for Pages (5.2.2), Numbers (3.2.2) and Keynote (6.2.2) but when I click on the Update button there is a little swirly in the top left hand corner near the maximise/minimise buttons but then nothing happens.
I successfully applied the updates to OSX (10.9.5), Safari (7.1) and ITunes (11.4) today so there is no issue with connecting to the App Store.
Mac Mini (late 2009), 2.53 Ghz processor, 4GB ram

GarageBand will not update via MacApp Store (running OS X Mountain Lion)

Hi I have recently purchased a MacBook Pro 2012 (Ivy Bridge) and I was using GarageBand and was trying to get extra instruments and GarageBand said I could either
a) "Download now" or b) "download later"
and the 1st option I click it claims that it is currently downloading but I waited and waited and even restarted GarageBand an hour later and none of the instruments showed up. And the I also tried "download later" and that option stated that I would get a notification in the MacApp Store to update when I opened it and it nothing showed up. What must I do to update, I really like GarageBand and I'm using it to make a little bit of music but I'd like to know what I must do in order to get the other instruments on there.

However, when I delete the GB app and the folder in the application support and try to install GB 6.0.5 Update it displays a message "Garageband 6.0 or later is required to install this update".
If your GarageBand came preinstalled or you bought it from the AppStore, you have to sign into the AppSTore with the Apple ID you used to accept or purchase GarageBand, Then download and reinstall from the "Purchased" tab of the AppStore. You cannot use the updater from the support page.

Yahoo.co.uk Inbox will not update in Mail on Mac (Yosemite)

Hi,
Have updated MBP and MBAir to Yosemite 10.10.2 and now cannot get my yahoo.co.uk mail INBOX to update on either machine. It's only the Inbox that won't update.
I've gone through loads with Apple support but think it "might" be a Yahoo issue?
Note that I also have a yahoo.com email account that still works fine and updates Inbox in Mail, but the yahoo.co.uk one just doesn't want to play. Have tried deleting and re-adding my account but no change (except that now absolutely no yahoo.co.uk Inbox emails can be seen).
I also had same issue when updating iPhone and iPad to iOS 8.1.3, but fixed that by delete and re-add of email account.
Any ideas?

Removing the account will only delete the emails on the mail.app, meaning they should still be on the actual website from which you receive mail. Try selecting the mailbox that doens't work and go to the menu bar and hit mailbox>rebuild. If this doesn't work immediately don't give up. It has to download all the emails again and how soon you will see them again depends on how many you have.

My iPhone 4 will not update. iTunes and my Mac is up to date.

I cannot get my iPhone to update. Everytime I hook it up to iTunes, it says that version 4.2.10 is the current version. I have the 10.4.1 version of iTunes and my Mac is 10.6.8. It still recognizes it and syncs just fine.

It's not a matter of Verizon catching up on the updates. The CDMA (Verizon) iPhone and the GSM (everyone else) iPhone use different chipsets. iOS should be brought up to speed when both are unified with iOS 5 this fall.

Ipod Mini will not update and sync without mac freezing up

My ipod mini (4GB) cannot hold all my music so I have to single handedly sort out music i want and don't want. So, one day i decide to click 'restore' so i can just drag and drop playlists. Ever since then itunes freezes up when i plug it in and now it won't recognize it. The only way i can get itunes to respond is by unplugging my ipod mini. Then itunes is fine, like nothing happened. Also i have the most up to date itunes software. i don't know what to do.
Please help!!

When the iPod is connected to your computer and in iTunes go to edit-->preferences (in iTunes). Hit the iPod tab. Is it set to automatically update?

Revolution-Exchange contacts will not sync

I have an issue where my exchange contacts will not update on my new Revolution. The Activesync is working fine with my mail and my calendar over my exchange account, but the phone will not load my contacts from exchange. I have called online tech support and am working with my work IT group... but so far nothing has worked... any ideas from the group?

as a follow up - PROBLEM SOLVED...
I had to make a backup copy of my contacts... delete them all from my primary exchange contact list... and then I created a test contact which started the sync process to my phone.
I could then add my 600+ contacts back in smaller groups to get them to sync to my phone.
Thanks to my IT department for the suggestion !!!
