New Content Checked In via UCM UI is never Indexed

Hey everyone,
So I am running the 10gR3 version of Oracle UCM and then indexer never runs when new content is checked in via the "New Check In" UI page. However, when I check things in via webservice new content is indexed just fine.
I am not really sure why this is happening. I've deleted the folders in the .dat files in the Rebuild, Lock, and Update directories, and re-ran the indexer, but the problem still persists.
Has anyone ever had anything like this happen?

Hi
I am getting the following error message during new content item check-in "Unable to execute service CHECKIN_NEW_SUB and function validateCheckinData. The error was caused by an internally generated issue. The error has been logged". Any idea what's gone wrong....is it services configuration file being corrupted? or where do i need to update the query or information pertaining to DdeletedRows.

Hi Mohan,
First you may want to check if this error is surfaces in other environments as well or this is the only environment where you are seeing this.
If it does not work only in this environemnt you may want to have a look at the counters table and check if all counter are good.
also if any of the values are hardcoded you may wnat to check if they conflict with something in the UCM.
also cehck ther permission of ther service that you are calling.I hope you are calling CHECKIN_UNIVERSAL.

TS3899 I have IPod Touch and always get gmail username and password is incorrect when I try to access gmail. I tried deleting and adding new account, checked account via laptop which is good, checked network connections which is okay. Not sure what to do

I have an iPod touch and cannot access gmail. I always get username or password for gmail is incorrect. I am able to access gmail via my Windows laptop just fine. I tried deleting and adding a new account, verified that my network connections are working, bebooted my iPod, and verified that imap is enabled on my laptop. Not sure what else to do. Please help!!!

Consolidated Email of daily new Content

Hi Experts,
We have the following requirement: We need to generate and send a daily email to UCM users that consolidates a list of all the new content checked-in UCM in this day. It is not always the case that those content went into a workflow.
Any help/suggestions on how to achieve this?

I think you need a custom component here.
1) Make a filter on one of the schedule hooks for activating the generation of the email content.
2) To create the email content, you'll need to do a query on either dInDate or dReleaseDate (depending on your functional requirement). You can reuse the GET_SEARCH_RESULTS if you would like to show only released documents, or you could go all-out and define your own query. Use the results to build your email content.
3) Depending on your requirements, sent the mail off right away or save it somewhere and let another timed filter sent it off.

Submitted content via UCM not showing up (blank page) in Oracle Webcenter

Hi All,
Once in a while (1/10, recently more and more), when users in our system Database Version:10.2.0.3.0 ---Oracle Database 10g Enterprise - UCM/Webcenter uploads new content via UCM or updating an existing content, they experience a blank page on the corresponding Webcenter page, i.e. all metadata on that content page in Webcenter appears to be blank.
In UCM the content metadata and all downloads are uploaded successfully. Our workaround is to enter the content via UCM and submit it without any changes to its metadata fields (blank submit). Sometimes, it takes more then one blank submit.
Another problem that might be related to this is downloads related items of the parent record on the content getting zero size length on Webcenter. Again, our workaround for this is to blank submit the related items via UCM, or re-upload these downloads via UCM so they be downloadable in Webcenter side.
If more info needed for this please let me know.

I probably didn't explain myself. We have two UCM instances: contribution and consumption. UCM contribution instance used to submit/update new/existing contents. These content aren’t available immediately on the Oracle Webcenter, instead, these contents replicated to the UCM consumption instance and available from there to Oracle Webcenter.
We never update/create new content via UCM consumption.
So, if for instance I've updated content xyz on UCM contribution, these changes are replicated to UCM consumption and then Oracle Webcenter can retrieve the info from content xyz and present this corresponding page.
I think the issue with blank pages (metadata fields - HCSP forms) or zero size download files has something to do with replication between UCM instances.
To fix this issue, we just submitting (blank submit - without changing any field) the form via UCM contribution instance, or we have to upload the same file again for it to replicate.

New Content Type doesn't apperas at dDocType field - UCM 11g

Hi,
I have created a new Content Type for a new content in the configuration manager, i have added the dDocType field to a profile's rule. Now when i try to check in a new content the dDocType field is not showing the new added content type.
What could be the reason is not showing or maybe i have omited a step.

What HTTP caching headers will prevent iPhoto from re-downloading each image in a "Photo Feed" every time it checks the feed for new content?

I've noticed a practical issue with iPhoto's File->"Subscribe to Photo Feed..." feature.
Every time that iPhoto checks a subscribed RSS Photo Feed for new content it will re-download each and every photo in the feed. This occurs even if iPhoto has already downloaded each image, they all have unique GUIDs set, and no content in the feed has changed since the last time it polled for it.
My best guess is that this happens if the server offering the feed does not produce the proper cache-control parameters in the HTTP Headers that are sent by the server when the RSS feed is accessed by iPhoto.
Does anyone know what parameter/value pairs need to be set in the HTTP headers to prevent iPhoto from re-downloading RSS enclosures that it already has?
This is a very practical problem for feeds with a large number of photos of large file size. Besides the obvious massive waste of bandwidth, the user receives an annoying error whenever they try to quit iPhoto before the feed and all of it's images have been re-downloaded yet again.

Any red flags in there that you think might be causing iPhoto to think it needs to re-download the images after it's already downloaded them once?

BAPI to checkin file as new content version

Hi,
I am looking for a BAPI that allows me to checkin an original as a new content version via SAP JCo (similar to the "Check In as New Version" UI feature). I couldn't get it to work using the standard BAPIs BAPI_DOCUMENT_*
Is there a remote capable standard BAPI that does the job?

I tried that one. I found it to checkin new files.
With BAPI_DOCUMENT_CHECKIN_REPLACE2 I can replace originals.
But I failed to create new content version of an existing orginal.
Could you provide me with an example, of how to fill the BAPI parameters in order to create a new content version?

While performing the indexing operation using Repository Manager only, metadata of the content files are indexed, but full text is not getting indexed.
What is missing here in Oracle UCM for not fulltext indexing the contents? What configurations do i need to do for this so that i can search perform the full text search on the Contents in Oracle UCM?

Hi Srinath,
Collection rebuild cycle runs perfectly fine. After enabling tracing for Indexer and systemdatabse, i got the below info in the log:
"Finished rebuilding the search index with a total of 123 files successfully indexed. A total of 0 files had a full text index."

Contents Check Problem

Hi,
Not sure if anyone is able to assist but I am unable to run a Contents Check on one of my PO's - typically it's a PO that I could really do with checking mailbox sizes for. When I generate the check in Console One and set my e-mail address as the CC I just never get anything (nor does the administrator account) and if I ever try a standalone check using GWCheck after a couple of days of running the application hangs!
Basically I need to check the accounts on that PO to see if any are failing to archive for any reason, so checking the mailbox size is the easiest way to do this.
Are there any other ways to check this other than logging into each of the 278 accounts currently on the PO?

That is really helpful information for me, I didn't know any of that
before - I guess like a lot of people I ended up supporting our Groupwise
messaging system as everyone else saw it as a "poison chalice" and didn't
want to touch it - so all I have learnt so far has been on the job! I find
it very interesting though :-)
I can see from the last .ckl file that the check is still running through
one of the Message databases. A dumb question now but if I want to get the
details off the PO of user account sizes I assume when I run the Contents
check I select both the User and Message databases? Or can I just select the
User database? I have a rough idea of how messages are stored for users etc.

SharePoint PowerPivot feature failing after site collection was backed up and restored (moved to new content database)

Hi there,
I am having some strange issue with my PowerPivot for SharePoint but can't figure out what is causing this. Here is what happened:
I setup PowerPivot (PP) for SharePoint and activate it on few site collections in production environment; I upload a PP workbooks in a library, manage the data refresh schedules, run the data refresh for an external SQL databases, etc. Everything works
fine for several days.
One day we decide the move one of the site collections (X) from its current content database to its own (new) content db. The way we did it is that we took the site collection backup in production, restored it in test environment (in its own content
db; we deleted the old site collection in test first before restoring), checked everything including PP data refreshes etc.; all worked fine.
Then we did the same thing in production - we deleted the old site collection X, restored the site collection from the same backup file that we used in test environment, everything works fine EXCEPT the PowerPivot refreshes!! :-(
I am getting these errors: When I click on the workbook, it gives this error "An error occurred during an attempt to establish a connection to the external data source. The following connections failed to refresh: PowerPivot Data"
When I click OK on error dialogbox, it opens the workbook fine but no slicers/refreshes work now. When I go back to the library and click on "Manage PowerPivot Data Refresh" to open the refresh history/schedule page, it gives this generic but scary
error: "An unexpected error has occurred. Troubleshoot issues with Microsoft SharePoint Foundation." ULSViewer or Event viewer is not showing anything related to this error!
Strange thing is that PP refresh works fine in Test environment, as well as on other site collections in production that we didn't touch (which tells me there is nothing wrong with my PP configuration). Did the backup/restore in prd cause anything? Did moving
it in its own contentdb cause anything? (But then why it works in test environment?) Is there anything wrong with site collection PP feature? Can force reactivating it help??????? I am just lost and going crazy now!

Won't charge, won't sync new content...

Long story short here... my iPod stopped working about 4 months ago. Meanwhile, the computer it was synched on, my Vista computer, went belly up. I drug my old XP computer out of the closet and booted it to satisfy my surfing needs. Meanwhile, there were a few files on my iPod - 2G iTouch - that I wanted to see if I could upload onto the XP. Lo and behold, when I plugged it into the USB port it started to charge. Once it was charged, I had to update the software (as I said it was about 4 months) and then it asked me if I wanted to authorize this computer (the XP) for use with this device and I said "yes". It transfered all of the purchased files to the XP, but ONLY the purchased files, it would transfer none of the photos and none of the music that came from non-iTunes sources.
Well, this is where things went kinda haywire.
While fussing with the Vista computer I did manage to get it to boot, and when that happened I plugged the iTouch into it and it started to synch. However, it also totally wiped out EVERYTHING except aps and photos. And it stopped charging when plugged into any other computer but the Vista. But as the Vista will only boot once every 20 or so tries I don't want to fuss with it much until I can get it fixed, so I managed one more synch and this time it restored all my music to the iPod touch.
However... it still won't charge on any other computer. When I plug it in to the XP it will synch (I get the "synch in progress" on both the iTunes and the device) however if I try to put any music from the XP on to the iTouch it won't upload, and the battery will ONLY charge when plugged into the Vista. I've tried to reset it (I thought it worked the first time but looking back I think it was only because it was on the Vista) twice but right now its still sitting at 2/3 battery life, and it has been that way for about a day and a half.
I know this sounds convoluted...I guess to "nutshell" it: All my music is on my iTouch and on the Vista, and my iTouch will only charge when plugged into the Vista. It will synch but not update via the XP and it will not charge, nor will it charge on any other cable (even plugged into the wall), nor will it upload any new content (ie music files I've had previously on the XP computer).
Any suggestions?

Charging the Battery takes at least 2 hours using the High Power USB2.0 port at the back of your Desktop, or via a USB Wall Charger, (dont use 10W iPad Charger unless it is dual port with a max 5Watt outlet)
If you have a new battery fitted, go back to the shop and ask them to solve the problem, most likely poor connection.

Hi, can anyone please tell me how I can receive downloads onto my ipad that i have purchased with a new apple id via itunes on my pc? I added a new apple id and signed out of existing one on my ipad and now receive a message saying that i cannot associate a new id for 85 days - and it won't let me download my purchased content onto the ipad even though i can purchase new content on my pc with the new id. The new content shows in my purchases when accessed on my ipad but the message appears when i attempt the download. I have set up the new id on both devices.
Any suggestions?

Yes. I have tried that. When I use the ID I had before, it sets it up as a new account and I don't want to lose my stats attached to my old account.
Let's say that my old nickname was "user10" and I used the email, "[email protected]" for my apple id. I changed my apple id to "[email protected]" and it changed my game center account to "mynew" and somehow I am friends with my old acct, "user10". I tried getting a password reset for "user10" but I apparently don't know my own birthday, which is possible because I usually give a false one, but the same false one each time.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Navigate to Settings > General > Software Update and install any updates available.
Navigate to Settings > General > Reset > Erase all contents and settings on the device you want to restore.
When this completes and the Set-Up Assistant starts, choose "Restore from iCloud Backup" and enter your iCloud account and password. You will see the three most recent backups for each of the devices on which you enabled Backup. Choose which backup to restore from.

The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great steps to review for issues with the Podcasts app for iOS:

Default settings: From your Home screen, tap Settings and then Podcasts. These settings are shared by all of your podcast subscriptions. These are known as default podcast settings.
Refresh Every: You can choose how often your iOS device checks for new episodes to your subscriptions. It's set to check every six hours by default.
Limit Episodes: You can pick how many episodes you see for subscriptions.
Download Episodes: The latest episodes of your podcasts will download automatically if your iOS device is connected to Wi-Fi.
Delete Played Episodes: If this is turned on, episodes will delete 24 hours after you finish playing them.
Use Cellular Data: If your iOS device has a cellular connection, you can allow downloads to use cellular data when Wi-Fi isn't available. This is off by default. Downloads using cellular data are limited to 100MB per episode. If an episode is larger than that, it won't start downloading until you're connected to Wi-Fi.
Podcast-specific settings: The second place you'll find subscription settings is within the Podcasts app. Tap a podcast subscription under My Podcasts and pull down with one finger to reveal the settings buttons. These settings are unique to each subscription. If you don't change anything here, the podcast subscription will just use the default settings. If you do make changes to a specific subscription’s settings, they'll only apply to that podcast.

Refresh Every: You can choose how often your iOS device checks for new episodes to your subscriptions. It's set to check every six hours by default.
Limit Episodes: You can pick how many episodes you see for subscriptions.
Download Episodes: The latest episodes of your podcasts will download automatically.
Delete Played Episodes: If this is on, episodes will be deleted 24 hours after you finish playing them unless you've marked them as Saved.
Inactive subscriptions
If you do not play or access a subscription within 15 days, your subscription to that podcast will go inactive and you will no longer receive updates to it. As soon as you access the subscription again it will refresh.
