New Cords ????

I went to Radio shack and purchased, 6ft.1/8" Stero plug to (RCA), DVI to VGA (HDD) adapter, Auvio 6' HDMI-DVI Cable and I cannot get the sound or pic to show up on the TV. I am trying to get Netflix on my tv from my computer.
Computer is a Toshiba Laptop without HDMI port
Television is a 47" flat screen with HDMI ports
Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong??
Thanks

Wait, are you chaining the DVI-to-VGA adapter and the HDMI-DVI cable to go from VGA to HDMI?
This won't work.
There are multiple variants of DVI.  DVI-I carries both analog and digital signals on the same connector.  This can be directly converted to HDMI or VGA with no special electronics.
DVI-D carries ONLY digital signals - An HDMI-to-DVI cable/adapter will only provide DVI-D
DVI-A carries ONLY analog signals and is very rare - I don't know of any PCs that had it, but a VGA-to-DVI cable effectively provides a DVI-A connection.
DVI-I can be connected to DVI-D
DVI-I can be connected to DVI-A
DVI-D cannot be connected to DVI-A, and this appears to be what you're trying to do if going from a VGA laptop to an HDMI display using a VGA-to-DVI cable and a DVI-to-HDMI cable.
Also, as stated above - DVI does not carry audio signals, so when using a DVI-I/DVI-D-to-HDMI adapter you will have video but not audio.

Due to the kind of plug used the US power cord is rated at the 125v value.. and legally we cannot advise you to use on higher voltages.. although I have never had issues in Australia.. 240v.
But adapters from your Euro power plug to US are generally ugly .. unsightly things.. and often sit high above the socket and are none too stable.. I agree with Bob.. just go out and buy a standard figure 8 power cord.. check with Apple in Italy for a white one.. if you are going to have it on show.. black are far more common. Or even check ebay for a standard power Apple power cord as a number of items they sell use the figure8 socket.

  • The cord to my Airport won't stay plugged in. It just falls out, and I can't get a connection. Should I just order a new cord, or is there another problem?

What can I do to get a new cord for my Airport/Time Capsule? The cord keeps falling out of my Airport device. When it was loose, I could sometimes adjust it & get wireless service again. Now I cannot get a light to come on at all so no wireless service. The cord does not feel like it is connecting when I try to plug it in, and it just falls to the floor. I would really appreciate help. I miss my wireless!

I don't take offense. The TK isn't new, but had been sitting stationary before a recent move. My son moved it during a visit, then I noticed that the cord kept falling out. I tried several times to reinsert it, but apparently I was too cautious and didn't get it pushed in all of the way.
With your information that it should be a tight fit, I was more aggressive in pushing it in, and it did attach this time. The light is green again. Thank you very much!

I recently purchased the adapted to use for the old cords to plug into the new Iphone 5.

Folks are directing their feedback on the  MAS to Mac OS X Snow Leopard because it is currently a Snow Leopard related app, it comes with the OS's update.
Questioning Apple's decisions about its business and products is a violation of the Terms of Use for the ASC. You agreed not to do so when you opened your account. It may be a legitimate question on other people's forums, but not here.
It is ranting, because all manner of sharing experience about doing business in foreign nations goes ignored in the thread to which I linked, and any others around. BTW, the US prices do not yet have any taxes added to them. The taxes are added at checkout in the US MAS. That is not the case in the MAS for many other nations.

  • My ipad with retina display won't charge after ios7. I have purchased a new cord and adapter but it won't charge at all or even recognize that it's plugged in most of the time. Help!!

My iPad is less than a year old, still under the one year limited warranty, though since I don't know the exact problem, I don't know if my problem is covered. I have spoken to AppleCare agents 3 times, during all of which my conversation was cut off. In my last conversation I was told to do a complete reset, which I have now done. Problem is, I am now stuck on the set-up screen, as I cannot get above a 2% charge, meaning that my ipad cuts off long before I'm able to do a restore using iTunes, iCloud or even set it up as a new device. So, basically, I now have a $600 coaster... and I'm not happy about that. Especially since I'm nowhere near an Apple Store. I also bought the iPad at Wal-Mart, which I guess was a mistake, because once 30 days have passed, they couldn't care less about helping me. What do I do now? And please, don't throw a bunch of technical jargon at me.. I won't understand it and it'll just frustrate us both if I try. Thanks!
p.s. I'm not 100% sure what OS it currently has, though I do believe I was able to update it to 7.0.3 or possibly 7.0.4 through iTunes, though I can't check it now.
p.p.s. I have always used the charging cord and wall adapter that came with the device to charge it. When this problem first occurred, I also purchased new, exact replicas of both of these, which, obviously, made no difference.

That's one of the weird things.. it recognizes it maybe 10% of the time. And usually, only after I do the two-button reset. Problem is.. since it won't charge above 2%, anytime I try to do a restore or anything like that using iTunes, my device shuts off and I lose whatever progress I'd made.
So, an update... after reading through a bunch of similar complaints (there are literally 1000's of them so there's NO WAY this isn't somehow ios7 related, thanks a lot APPLE ) I decided to try a restore in recovery mode. After 3 hours and several disconnections... I ended up having to just set it up as a new iPad, as the restore did nothing. Weirdly though... as I was doing the restore in recovery mode.. I noticed I'd gotten up to a 10% charge.. higher than it's been since September, so after setting it up as a new device, I turned it off and plugged it in using the wall charger. 2 hours later and I was up to 38%. Still not great, as my iPad, before ios7 could've fully charged twice in the amount of time it took for me to now get 28% more of a charge. And that's with a fully cleaned out device.. so that really ***** and I'm now more confused than ever.
But I'm gonna leave it overnight charging and see what I come up with tomorrow. Sadly, when I paid $600 for it in February, I never expected to have to play "wait and see" with it...

  • I need a new cord charger for my macbook that i bought in 2009,but I don't know which one i need

I need a new charger for for my 2009, 15 inch macbook. I do not know what what model it is or what kind of charger I need. I just need the part that attaches to the charger that goes in the wall.
    please help.

  • I have an iPad ,I bought two new cords that go to the charger, my iPad will take forever to charge, I have tried everything! Help! Please!

My cord that goes to my charger for my iPad broke, I bought two new ones, now my iPad takes forever to charge, will not charge at all if I'm using it. I have tried turning it off and trying to charge it that way,no good. I have to charge it 8 hours just to get a 30% charge! Help!  I miss my iPad ! Thank you!

Are you using an iPad charger and not an iPhone one? Using an iPhone one can be the reason for the slow charging
If you're using an iPad charger, have you tried to give your device a reset? Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds, until you see the silver apple and it reboots. See if that helps

  • Brand new cord will not charge it?

Okay, so this morning when my mac was charging my dad moved it from the couch to the table, and in the process moved the extension cable it was connected to to the floor, my 15 week old rabbit decided that my lovely white power adapter looked tasty and decided to chew it. I came back to my computer and picked up the long white cord because i was going to move it so my rabbit wouldnt chew it and discovered he already had by the big chew marks he had made where the wires were exposed were sparking. Long story short, i took it to my local apple store they told me it wasnt covered, i payed $89AUD for a new one and got on with my life. I used my mac this afternoon without it plugged in as it was allready charged from this morning. I plugged it in tonight and realised that it wasnt charging. On my bar it says (Not Charging) and then on the drop menu it says.
    Battery Is Not Charging
    Power Source; Power Adapter
Its keeping it working, but it isnt charging it? My old one and my new one are both 60W. I have tried plugging it into many different places none work. What do you think is wrong?

There have been a lot of variants of the MacBook Pro since its introduction in 2006. One variant (can't remember which), required a software solution to work with the newer "L" shaped power connectors. Without knowing which you have, the best thing is to see if Software Updates offers you a patch.
There are also reports of some of the older, silver-key MBPs having a problem with the fit of the new adaptors.
Lacking that, I'd take the computer and the new adaptor to an Apple Store or AASP and stand there until they can provide an adaptor that works. Leave the rabbit at home.
Man! I though cats were tough on computer cables!

  • Where to get new cord for North American wall outlet (110V) for macbook pro 2011?

    Hello, all.
I work in Korea, bought a macbook pro here.  It's really great but I have a problem -- I need a standard north american, three pronged, power cord which will run from the wall outlet to the 60v mag adapter, as the wall outlets here are different than in North America and I will be returning there shortly.
I have only been able to find total adaptor replacements or what looks to be cables for older adapters.  I would like to avoid having to replace the entire adaptor as it works fine -- i just need a cable that will plug into it and a standard, three prong, north american outlet.
Does Apple sell just the cable that precedes the adaptor?  I have been unable to find one if so...
    Please help!
    Thanks,
    Mertcrimmer

  • Ipod Touch 4g won't charge with New Cord/Old Cord nor will it turn on.?

What I lovely day, I get back from camping, my ipod was ran dead because we were blaring music having a good time. I see the red battery symbol with the Plug Arrow Charge Symbol thing. And i'm thinking, Ok i'll just plug it into the car when we leave. I plug it into the USB car lighter Converter and it doesn't charge, so now i'm thinking "Ok that thing was rubbish anyways i'll wait until I get home. When I get home I pull out my trusty official apple thick Charging cable and plug it into the wall, doesn't work. I try my computer, doesn't work. I've tried the new thin cables, doesn't work. Whenever I try using the on/off button nothing happens, I try the on/off button with the home button and the screen flashes (backlight) black and white then shows the red battery thing again. And NOTHING works.

After connecting to a charger for hald hour, reset the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - If OK you are done
    - Next connect to your computer.  If ithe iPod shows in iTunes, restore the iPod via iTunes
    - If not seen, place the iPod in recoverymode and then try to restore the iPod.  For recovery mode see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore

  • HT1430 new cord for ipad not recognized by computer

My daughter just got and refurbed  ipad 3, she plugged it in to sync with itunes account to transfer apps, says cord not recognized.  Obviously it was recognized for a bit because she went on itunes and accidently jit restore.  NOw ipad will not even turn on or be recognized

Your post is a little confusing to me, because the sequence of events seems to be out of order.
You are saying that she accidentally restored the iPad so that proves the cord was working. Then you say that she could not sync because she gets a message saying that the cord isn't recognized? I'm not sure what either of these things has to do with the iPad not turning on now if it has anything to do with it at all.
Do you have another cable that you can try? Any older iPod Touch cable will work if you have one. You can even try straighten the cable out, maybe there is a bad spot in it and it will work temporarily if you straighten it out a bit.
Try rebooting the iPad and see if it will start up.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up
