New CS4 links panel is very slow

I have 3200 links and using new CS4 links-panel is insanely slow. If I delete or update an image when links panel is open, I get the beachball for 10-15 seconds.
The beachball also rolls for many seconds when simply opening the links panel. Seriously slowing the workflow.
Tried to click off all info and thumbnails, no change.
This used to be a breeze in CS3.
Anyone else experience the same? I use MacBook Pro 2.4 Intel with 4 gigs ram.

Do you have any suggestions of what might be the problem?
I tried same document on CS3 and CS4, and CS4 has very slow links panel.
I have no trouble when there are just a few links, but I have 3200 links to maybe 15 different multipage PDF's. CS3 handled this perfectly.

CS4 File info dialog very slow to open and respond.

CS4 File info dialog very slow to open and respond. Every click or or key stroke takes more than 1 second to record. I have try multiple changes in the performance preferences and nothing has an affect. This is the only dialog box in the program that has the problem. The problem started when I uninstalled and reinstalled because of problems with the program freezing. I have changed every setting in the preferences performance section back and forth including 3 different amounts of memory usage (lo hi and recommended) restarting PS every time and nothing works. I would appreciate any help, keeping in mind that there have been no changes to the PC and it worked fine for a long time (approx 1/12 years) previous to the reinstall. I've been having the same problem now for a few weeks and its killing me. Not sure what I can do, but in Photoshop and Bridge, the only programmes I use on a daily basis, it takes me forever to enter file information.

It's possible the reason it seems so slow, is that a backup might be in progress - and since it's the first backup everything on the disk is something that Time Machine is backing up and is being transferred across the WiFi at the same time as you're trying to use your Internet. So you're competing with Time Machine data flying across your WiFi along with your internet stuff. So if this is indeed what is happening (look at Time Machine to see if a backup is in progress), either pause the backup to a more convienent time or live with the slowness till the backup is done this first time, and after that you probably will not notice the "competition" on your WiFi. I like to schedule the Time Machine backups to late at night rather than once an hour (the default), but that schedule should be whatever you feel most comfortable with.
There is a handy free utility called "TimeMachine Editor" that you can get from http://timesoftware.free.fr/timemachineeditor/ that lets you create your own customized backup schedule. You can create several schedules to fit your working conditions. I've used it for several years with never a problem. I don't have anything to do with the company - just a happy user.

Printing problem-new HP Laserjet P2015 and VERY slow printing-

I have a new HP Laserjet p2015, and while it does print, it is VERY slow—typically about 1 page per minute even for plain black-and-white Word documents. Much time spent with HP support, even got a new new machine… they're out of ideas and think it might be OS related…
Where do I begin to troubleshoot this?
Printer is connected directly to computer via USB.

I have downloaded new drivers, removed and added the printer multiple times, etc. As I mentioned, I've spent a few hours with HP support, tried new USB cable, even got a new machine. They now believe it's something with my system.
Any reason to believe that reinstalling my system software will help?
By the way: Printing from Text Edit is not faster. Or if it is, not very. In any case, it's not a realistic solution

CS4 action panel really really slow!

Sorry if this issue was already posted, the search function
on this forum was not working at the time of writing this.
I just upgraded from Flash 8 to CS4, and the first thing I
noticed was how slow the action panel was compared to Flash 8. When
typing code into the action panel, there is a very annoying 1-2
second delay before it shows up. There is a noticeable delay in
selecting text as well. I thought I could get used to, but its been
a few weeks, and still driving me crazy.
I noticed there are documented performance issues with CS4
and the Ratheon 3200, but I have a Ratheon HD 3870.
Is there a way to speed up the action panel?

it have nothing to do with your gpu
im thinking you are using athlon 3200, its not that new, but
CS4 takes a lot more system resource and computing power then flash
8, if you are using more then one core, assign one specific core
for flash, and nothing else uses that core.

New Pages V5 is running very slow

I was using the previous version happily for 6 months, using the shapes and shadows, dimensions etc to create great looking and very fast design plans. The features were surprisingly good and the process very quick and easy.
As soon as I downloaded V5 all this stopped . Whilst it seems the feature are still available, the speed has become so slow, I can't use ANY of the original files, and creating new ones is far too slow.
I was & still am using a MacBook Pro (1 year old )
Can anyone help/suggest anything to speed things up ???

No, Geoff, the features aren't the same. The list of missing features is in the high 40's in length. Apple have announced that they will restore 4 of them and make changes to two others, in 6 months.
There are other reasons for slowness that have to do with the Mavericks upgrade and iCloud syncing that could be contributing to your problems.

Upgraded to new MobileMe Calendar and now very slow updates

System:
iPhone 3G, iOS 4.1
Mac: 10.6.4
"Upgraded" to the new MobileMe Calendar.
Now BusyCal, iCal, MobileMe and iPhone do not sync quickly (sometimes takes 30 minutes for iPhone or more). Sometimes I need to launch iCal to get MobileMe to update. On the iPhone need to leave on for a long time or turn on and off.
I think I've gone through all the conversion steps and FAQs: Apple's, MobileMe, Mac, iPhone and BusyCal.
Maybe I was just spoiled with iPhone via Airport.
Any comments/suggestions?

I'm seeing that problem as well and I can't figure out what why it's slower. I figured it's a bug so I reported the problem at Apple's iTunes Feedback page.
On the other hand, iTunes 9 converts MP3s to AAC format at least twice as fast as iTunes 8 did, which is a very welcome improvement.

I just bought my Macbook Pro two weeks ago specifiacally to use Photoshop CS and Lightroom together. It worked fine for the first few days but
has slowed down considerably since then. I live in Taiwan which makes it difficult to go to a store to have it finxed due to the language barrier
so online help would be fantastic! If the problem continues would it be possible to exchange it for an Air (if that's a wise choice?)

I wasn't expecting this to happen with my new computer! However photoshop and lightroom are running ridulously slowly, even while scrolling through pictures the beachball appears!

How do I know if I have a wifi problem with my new iPad 3 (it seems very slow) and how does one address the problem with apple if there is one?

I just read about the possible issue that some folks are having with their new iPad wifi (my seemed to be running very slowly but I thought that perhaps it was just me overreacting). How do I know if I have a definite problem, and what is my recourse? Do I need to take it to an Apple store for testing? I have apple care which I assume addresses stuff like this. Thoughts? Your iPad is covered by the normal warranty for one year. If you have AppleCare that extends the coverage. If you feel there is a problem with your wifi reception visit an Apple store with your iPad for a consultation. Be sure to make an appointment before you go.

New TouchSmart 300 internet is very slow

Try moving the computer closer to the router or plugging in an ethernet,
also try Updating and reinstalling the network driver.

New itunes copy/rip rate very slow

hello all,
after updating itunes to new version my rip rate has dropped, instead of a rate of about x7.0 to x10.0 i have dropped to x0.1 to x4.5.. it now take me hours!! to copy a regular store bought cd.
please does anybody have any ideas how to up the tempo (PS - reloading older version of itunes isn't working.)

Are you familiar with firewire target disk mode? If you were to connect the two computers using firewire you could do some file management. Make sure that you have key files on one machine and a TM backup. Then do a clean install on the Mini. Better yet, have you considered partitioning the drive on the mini so you can have the best of both worlds?
Depending on the size of the hard drive, you could have one partition for a clean install back up of just a system, one partition of the MacBookPro system with all your familiar settings and preferences and then one partition that is just a fresh start with every thing new and clean. All you have to do to compare and contrast is reboot to a different partition. If things get back to fast, you may not need or want all the old baggage that may be slowing you down.
Explore some options.

I discovered some flicker issues when viewing flash clips in fullscreen.
I downgraded the flashplugin to
flashplugin-10.1.85.3-1-i686.pkg.tar.xz
and everything seems to be fine again.
The biggest plus for the old version can be seen with sites that display more than one flashplayer at a page, for example

With the new flashplugin version, I'm barely able to scroll the page (in Opera and Firefox), but with the old version it scrolls smoothly.
Can anyone confirm this?

Flash is closed source, all we can do is package the binary. File a bug report with Adobe by all means.

Cs6 starting panels and very slow application

When I start InDesign, the 'starting panels' part of the startup process hangs for some time. After about 2-3 minutes though, the app will load. However, when I'm loaded, switching from one pallette to another (for instance, pages to layers) takes — literally — 30 seconds. During most of which I have the spinning beach ball. Has anyone else seen this?
I trashed my prefs: no love.
Uninstalled and reinstalled InDesign: no love.
OS: 10.8
computer: iMac 27" 2.93 i7 with 16GB RAM
Illustrator, Photoshop, and other Adobe apps are fine.

I had the exact same problem with InDesign CS6. I upgraded to Mountain Lion without problems on my 2008 Mac Pro. Suddenly the panels were not opening quickly at all (beachball of death). The entire app got sluggish. I tried everything, including a clean reinstall of InDesign and a call to Adobe support. Having read this thread I suddenly realized that I too had installed Hiss on my Mac for Growl notifications. I disabled it as a startup item, rebooted and the problem instantly went away. So, Hiss was definitely the culprit! I never would have figured that out had I not read this post and follow-up replies. Thank you!

New macbook pro 2011 running very slow

hello, i have a late 2011 mbp 15 with 2.4 giga hetz 2 gen intel core i7 processors (quad core). and a ram of 4gb, 1333 mega hertz DDR3. personally, this is one of my favourite dream gadget because it's extremely hard for me to afford but extremly powerful. but i somewhat managed to buy it.
the problem is, this is a new one... which is 4 months old. but now it's lagging. not opening apps, files, and many other things fast as before.(it was snappy before). i'm not newbie to tech, so i tried my usual remedies...
(clearing up space, resetting PRAM and NVRAM, rebooting. but i did'nt want to reinstal mac os 10.7 because i don't have my time machine backup to retrieve my sensitive info and i don't want to do it like my old pc.) and for another problem... a person asked me that he wants my laptop to view his webpages, and i did a mistake. i gave it to him for a few minutes. and he tried to download flash player from a third party website i was shoked and strictly said him not to download that because i know that flash player was not really good for mac. (especially flashback, sabpab, etc.) but he ignored me and continued to download that. i was ver angry then i took it from him. but it was too late - it was already finished saving its DMG. file in downloads folder. so i first secure deleted that file. then the problem started.
i also think that this may be not problem caused by flash, so i researched in the web for this reason (because i'm new to mac osx) then i cross referenced my problems with others having this. as a result, mine was somewhat unique - in my 750gb hdd, only 27 gb was used, while others have crammed it up.
the things i did'nt tried is i have'nt updated one mac osx update yet.
and i think my RAM is not enough. but i still wanted to know the symptoms of that flashback and other trojans spread via flash player.
so the q. is:
1) please say me the symptoms of flashback and other trojans spread via flash player.
2) how to make my mac as fast as normal?
3) i didnt know about the 2012 mbp when i bought this. so, will the next mbp will take away my model's value?

There are is no known current malware that uses a flash installer which can affect your OS X. There is at least one older one that are no longer seen in the wild which the quarantine and XProtect processes of your OS should prevent you from installing. The only one I recall was BASH/QHost.WB which displayed phoney Google searches.
If you had uploaded that file to one of the malware sample sites instead of deleting it, then you might know if it was infected or not, but it's too late for that.
A good place to read the details of all known Mac malware is Thomas Reed's Macintosh Malware Catalog which includes details on the Java Trojans (Tibet, Sabpab/Sabpub and MalJava).
