New CS6 Install

Okay, my BETA trial of CS6 expired yesterday, so I bought the upgrade from CS5 Photoshop (not the Extended Version). I uninstalled the Beta software including the preferences, installed the download from the Adobe Store, but when I open it, it still says Beta and won't accept the updates listed.
This is an upgrade and so using the clean script would mean I would have to reinstall all my qualifying products again going right back to Photoshop 6 from 2000, and install all the upgrades in order over the top. That is what happened to me when I went to CS3 and was a royal PITA.
Does anyone know what I can do to fix the problem? This didn't happen to the install I dod on my Laptop which wasn't over the Beta.

No, of course it doesn't! No Adobe upgrader does that.
You were supposed to UNINSTALL the beta version with its own Uninstaller before attempting to install the final version.
Don't just drag things to the trash/recycle-bin, you must use the Uninstaller.
Instructions to this effect were/are prominently displayed on this forum and are included in the installation instructions for the final version.

Help - New CS6 install on Yosemite 27inch iMac v slow

Hi can anyone help with very slow scrolling delayed and jerky, no thumbnail images or intermittent on pages, slow links rebuilding in Indesign. Everything really slow. All other software really quick can't see anything wrong with photoshop.
New iMac see spec below.

My old mac was never this slow and I even ran logmein which I dread to think what will happen.

Downloaded new install from Adobe. I have not migrated anything, all software was installed from original sources to try to ensure smooth setup.
The only thing I did was update to Yosemite AFTER indesign install but I found a couple of updates from Adobe to latest versions of indesign and photoshop.
I have also rebuilt permissions incase that was affecting the mac

New CS6 install - Illustrator Error 5

Three of the five products install and run (apparently) correctly from DVD, Photoshop, Bridge, Acrobat. Two Fail with Error 5 with no additional information - Illustrator and Indesign. Uinstall/Cleaner/Reinstall twice with same error. Download installation of Illustrator also fails.

Here is what I did to fix this:
* Uninstalled every Adobe software on my computer in the Control Panel (everything; Adobe Acrobat, AIR, Flash, etc.). Flash Builder could not be uninstalled though (got an error telling me to use the CS5 Cleaner Tool)
* Used the CS5 Clean Tool and selected "Clean All" http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs5clean.html
* Using cygwin I deleted the following folders:
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe
- C:\Users\<myusername>\AppData\Local\Adobe
* Rebooted
* Installed CS5 Master Collection Trial. Was able to input my existing FB SN there, so I'm running FB commercial and Flash Pro trial which was what I wanted.

Could have been... do you have a supervisor who keeps track of what is ordered and how it is purchased?
Do you have access to the Adobe ID that was used to install the software so you may check the account?

How do I get my new up grade cs6 to register, I have cs3 installed on my computer for the last four or more years. the problem I am having is the new cs6 tell me there insn't a copy on my computer as I'm installing cs6 on it. I have been using cs3 for years. what do I do? cant find my old packaging so i can't find my old serial number.

No serial, no upgrade. It's as easy as that. Get in touch with support, maybe they can help in some way....

When you say "Download" do you actually mean install?
Which version are you upgrading from?

CS6 install fails on Retina Macbook Pro

CS6 install fails on Retina Macbook Pro (10.8.2)
I downloaded the CS6 Design and Web Premium trial and attempted to install. It downloaded fine and I can open the .dmg file, but the instant I click the Install application I get the error message "Installer failed to initialize. Please download Adobe Support Advisor to detect the problem." I did as it said but it detected nothing. I deleted the trial and downloaded the Master Collection CS6 trial to see if the result was any different.... it wasn't. Got the same error message. I looked though other forums and tried their methods to fix this but I have had no luck. Time is kind of, of the essence. Start school in a few days and a Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator class is difficult without Photoshop, InDesign or Illustrator.
Anybody know what to do?

I did try a new account and it failed.
I seem to have found a workaround. I used the application manager linked HERE and my issues have been resolved. I was able to install all of the CS6 programs with that Manager. Must have been giving me corrupt files or the manager itself was corrupt.
Everything downloaded, installed, and updated perfectly. All I did was make sure I had every trace of previous attempts deleted off my computer then downloaded the app manager.
Very weird fix but I'm happy it worked. Thanks.

Thumbnails in new CS6 PS6

I've been trying to post this so if it gets posted twice, sorry. Just installed my new CS6 PS6 and does anyone know where the thumbnail view is? I have to use Bridge to see the thumbnails which adds an extra step. I know the thumbnail view is probably still there, because they wouldn't delete something like that, I just can't find it. I also have Sagethumbs which shows about half the thumbnails, not all, not enough. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

There is another possibility, but it involves you spending a little more money (not a lot)...
You could add a codec pack to Windows that will make thumbnail images visible for all image types not only in Photoshop's File - Open dialog, but also in any Explorer window (which generally includes File - Open dialogs for all apps). There are some advantages to this: Not only can you see what PSD files contain, but also things like raw files from cameras. Plus codecs support the viewing of all file types in Windows Photo Viewer.
There are several companies offering solutions for under $20, and I think there's even one free package out there. Look online for "FastPictureViewer Codec Pack", "Ardfry Codecs", or "Sage Thumbs Codecs". I use the first one mentioned.

At first it may seem irritating to have to spend more for something the prior version of Photoshop did before, but keep in mind codecs add value across your entire system.

I recently purchased PS CC, I have set up a CC account, I also have an adobe acct. I have PS CS6 installed on my computer, purchased PS CC, went to the available downloads, but I am confused as to how to download the CC Photoshop with the new features as it tells me I already have CS 6 installed,and I do not see any refrence to a CC Photoshop downoad, I would appreciate any direction as to how to download the PS CC that I have subscribed to.

Hi Dom,
As a Creative Cloud member, you're entitled to the Creative Cloud suite. (If you're Photoshop CC only, then you'll be eligible for Photoshop CC.)
Question or two for Nancy (or those in the know.):
a) You said: "But before you download & install the new CC, be sure the read the release notes, tech specs, etc...)"
These aren't posted yet, or are they? If so, whereabouts?
b) Do you know if the CC apps replace CS6 applications, or add them separately - like CS 5.5, CS 6 - in their own folders. Knowing these downloadble products, and I don't just mean Adobe, but Microsoft, Apple, etc. sometimes botch their downloads at first, I'd hate to be "Adobe-less."

PS CS6 install doesn't create Win7 start menu shortcut

I just did a PS CS6 install, but just the x64 application. The install created an Adobe ExtendScript Toolkit CS6 shortcut in the base Windows\Start Menu\Programs folder, but it didn't create a shortcut (or folder+shortcut) for Photoshop. I created my own shortcut, but figured I'd report this.
Windows 7 x64 system.

Actually I'm now seeing shortcuts for four new Adobe apps in Start Menu > Programs. The ExtendScript Toolkit CS6 is the only one that shows up in the base Start Menu with red highlighting to indicate a newly installed application. I didn't see the other new shortcuts until I rebooted my system this morning.
The installed folder for each of the four new shortcuts is:
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs
Shortcut names are:
Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64 Bit)
Adobe Bridge CS6 (64bit)
Adobe Extension Manager CS6
Adobe ExtendScript Toolkit CS6
Adobe is inconsistent with where shortcuts are created. I have several Adobe application shortcuts in Start Menu\Programs but I have a couple in a Start Menu\Programs\Adobe folder and the entire CS5 suite's shortcuts in Start Menu\Programs\Adobe Master Collection CS5
The shortcuts I manually created for Bridge CS6 x64 and Photoshop CS6 x64 are on my desktop and have different names than the ones created by the install.

CS6 Install -Adobe Switchboard Payload issue

I installed CS6 extended with no issues about a week ago and it was working beautifully and unfortunately one of my four 8GB memory DIMMs was bad and I had to get 32GB of new RAM and reinstall everything.
I have legitmiately purchased and have a valid serial #. This set of 4 120GB SSD drives which run in RAID 0 as my C: drive had no previous versions of CS6 or betas.
I have attempted to install twice now and both times I get the following error below. aftre the first failed install I unistalled and rebooted before attmepting the second install. I ma running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 and I am installing CS6 64 bit.

I spoke to a support person at Adobe today and he asked if Photoshop was launching, which I hadn’t tried when I received the errors, so I launched it with him on the phone and it launched with no issues.
He had me restart and launch again while he hung on the line. After the system restart it launched with no issues again.

I downloaded the software using the Adobe Download assistant as my retailer simpy emailed me the product key so I have no physical media to insert into my optical drive.
I am not sure how critcal these components are that are referenced in the above errors so I am looking for guidance on:
Is my install as is with these errors stable and operational – meaning will I ever miss these components? My preference obviouly is to install and have a zero error report and a clean log.
Should I unistall and try to install again, and if so are there are Microsoft components I shouild be updating/installing first? If it is an insaller issue what is the recommended procedure for me to go about installing?
If it is an installer issue how do I get Adobe to get me media? – I ordered full media to be delivered and given the amount of money I paid for Photoshop CS6 I was surprised to get a call from the retailer indicated that they were sold out but they could give me a serial number for Photoshop CS6 Extended for no additional fee but I would need to download it. So I guess I got a ggod deal getting Extended for $730 Canadian including taxes but I would still prefer Photoshop CS6 with CDs.

New CS6 on new IMAC w/o drive

New IMAC does not have a CD drive. Ordered new CS6 but can't load it, can I down load from Adobe using the key (SN) on the CDs box?

All the CS 6 downloads are available as Trial downloads on Adobe.com website.
Depending on the product you purchased, you can download the trial version from the Adobe website and then can install and serialize the same using the serial number you received.

New CS6 Encore User Missing Library Content

I am a new CS6 user and just signed up for the Creative Cloud subscription and downloaded/installed Pro Premire and Encore. I have a DVD project that is due Monday and there are no assets in the Encore Library for creating menus?
Where is that content ?

Hi John, thank you for the link. However those instructions do not work for CS6. In particular I think you are referring to the instructions that say:
On the download page, look at the row with the description for function content. For example, for CS5, look for “Adobe Premiere Pro CS5: Download contains additional ReadMe files plus content (menus, buttons, and backgrounds) for Adobe Encore CS5.”
I have a new subscription to CS6 never having owned CS5 and when you login and go to the download page, the page at https://creative.adobe.com/apps lists all of the software except Encore (and yet if you download Pro Premier it must also download encore because I obviously didn't download it separately).
Any thoughts?
