NEW CUBE

Hello,
I am using ods as a datasource for three cubes.
Two are existing and one is a new one .
I am trying and init on the new cube Which i created at a later stage .
The init is already existing in other cubes..
How should I init in th new cube..
I have already uploaded the historic data in th new cube by full update..

Ok let me explain correct me if I am wrong..
I will have to delete the flag from the initilization option in the scheduler menu.
-->then I will have to initiliaze again for all the cubes without data transfer ..Is it ok..
Have I to also Reset the datamart status in the ODS for deltas after init , i think no .
it means that only the flag is reset and data in init request is not affected ..
Lastly i have to mark an init in all data targets at one time so the delta mangement is in sink for all cubes...
i want to give you points . Where is the option of giving points..

If anyone is able to give me some advice I'd really appreciate it. I have seen similar issues on here and tried uninstalling then re-installing the driver which seemed to fix the similar issue on someone's Windows 7 system but it doesn't seem
to have worked for me. I also tried using the usb 2 drive rather than the usb 3.
I have a new cube laptop with Windows 8 (which I'm not used to yet at all) and am trying to access the files from the Maxtor hard-drive from my old pc. The hard-drive does not show up under file explorer but seems to appear in device manager. The
laptop makes noises occasionally as if it is detecting some hardware but not showing it.
Can anyone suggest a fix?

How about the situation by now?
Could the external hard drive be shown in the
disk management?
Or take a look at the format of that hard drive(list disks) with diskpart command:

Check if the format is NTFS.

How to point an existing query into a new cube?

Hello Experts,
For a Business requirement, I had to create a new cube.
Now, I wanted point out all my existing queries to the new Cube.
Can someone please tell me how to do it?

I Don't want all the queries to be copied to the new cube.Can we specify the query names in the transaction?
It may be a dumb question but, can we the same for workbooks as well?

New Cubes in Project System Business Content

Hi
I am going through the business Content Help. We have standard Cubes like 0PS_C02 for dates 0PS_C04 for Controlling, 0PS_C07 for Claims and so on
Also I see new cubes 0PS_C021 with different description Dates ( Identification using GUID) and 0PS_C041 FOR Controlling (Identification using GUID) and so on.
My question is what for these new cubes with Description Identification using GUID.

Hi Satish,
I believe the 0PS_C041 , 0PS_C021 are the used when you create projects in R/3 using cProjects or xRPM. When you create a project in cProjects and replicate it, a corresponding project is created in R/3 which is identified by a 24 character String(this is the GUID). And the cubes 0PS_C041, 0PS_C021 in BW.... are used to store such projects information.

Can we add new cubes and ODS after creating the multiprovider?

Hi all,
i created a multiprovider on a cube and ODS. Now i needed one more charactersitic from other cube.then i did change multiprovider and then add that new cube and did the identification, and adjusted the query, when i ran the query it is showing chracteristic as # and not assigned. I even tried bringing in 0infoprovider object to see whether data is coming from third infoprovider, it is not showing up any data from third one. i tried logging out of bex and logging back in.....but still no use..............i am wondering now, once a multiprovider is created can new infoprovider be added to it ?
i am even able to see the new key figures and chracteristic in my query.but data is not getting populated...i also checked and found that the data is available in the infoproviders....
plz help me out..

nice to see your answer, I saw a lot of helpful posts on SDN by you.
I did the RSRT with debug multiprovider, it said,
0FISCPER: General restriction for InfoProvider ZSD_C12 not possible
Access to ZSD_C12 was excluded
now i corrected it, it is populating the key figure now but not the chracteristic still.....the chracteristic is still getting value only from one of the info providers
importantly, when i bring infoprovider above the keyfigures space on query, it still only shows two info providers for each key figure and not the third one ,the key figure coming the third one is only shown in overall result. how can i solve this?
i tried rsr_gen_direct_all_queries as told by krian, but still cant get the data in the report. i did list cube on mulitiprovider and i see the data for that chracteristic there....
are there any other options in RSRT to find possible setting faults....

When I create a new cube using another cube as template(copy) which datasource is assigned to the new cube, why because am getting all the fields which are there in copied cube even though I used only required fields.why this is occuring?

Hi,
Usually, when you copy the cube only data model is copied. means all KF and CHAR, NAV CHAR.
May be after copying you can reassign (CHARS) once again in the New cube as per your requirement.
When you create the update rules, there you can assign the Infosource or original cube as datasource.

If some one created a new cube, will I see it in query designer even though it's not loaded? I am doing a search for a cube in query designer info areas section but cannot find it. Does this mean I do not have access to it? Thanks!

That also what I mentioned in my post above:
It could be that you do not have access to it...<i>can you see other cubes from the InfoArea</i>? Or did you click the <b>New</b> icon in the Open diaog box and search there. If you do not have any query on a cube then you cannot see it in the first Open view.

Copy Cube builder schema to new cube

Hi experts,
Im new on SSM and I need to copy an existing Cube built on Cube Builder to a new Cube and then remove and add new dimensions and metrics and then link the new cube to a New Context con Admin, so far I:
1.- Created a new empty Cube on Cube Builder
2.- Dumped the original cube and loaded on the new one using Application server that proccess ended with no problems Im able to see all dimensions, attributes on the new cube on App server
3.- When I go back to Cube Builder to manage the new cube nothing is displayed
Im missing something?

Hi Eduardo,
You can only edit models built with the cube builder.
If I have a model that I had built with CB and In PAS I manually add a new dimension, that new dimension is not seen in the CB. Only the dimensions that I created with the CB are seen.
If the cube you want to change was built with the cube builder, than you should be able to dump that cube as you did and then in PAS manually create a new DB, add it to PAS and load the dumped data into it. Then you have a copy.
Or you can go to the applicationServer/Home directory and manually make a copy of the one built with CB.
Rename it and then in PAS you can issue
sup add dat <database name>
To add the new database.
Then the original model built with CB can be edited/changed in the CB since all that info should appear.

Bibdemo failed after creating some new cubes....

1. i have instaled everything... (patches 9.2.0.6)
2. bibdemo working!!!!
3. i have created some new cubes, dimensions and measures (measures are in root) with oem (rolap)
4. cwm2_olap_metadata_refresh.mr_refresh;
5. now when i try to connect to my cubes in bi beans ---failed!!!! but also bibdemo failed!!!! (unable to retrieve metadata)
6. i run utlrp.sql again and cwm2_olap_metadata_refresh.mr_refresh; again
but the problem is not resolved
what should i do?

Does the user/schema have the OLAP_USER role? It should. If it has the more powerful OLAP_DBA role, I would recommend revoking it. OLAP_DBA sees all the OLAP Catalog metadata and if it encounters any invalid OLAP Catalog metadata, you will run into errors.
Also, I would suggest that you post this thread on the BI Beans forum. They are the owners of BIBDEMO and should have some further insight.

Error "cannot load request real time data targets" for new cube in BI 7.

Hi All,
WE have recently upgarded our SCM system from 4.1 to SCM 7.0 which incorporated BI 7.0.
I am using BI 7.0 for first time and ahve the following issue:
I ceated a new infocube and data source of flat file and succesfully created transformation, and Data Transfer Process. Everything looked fine. I added flat file and checked preview and could see data. Now when I start job to load data in infocube the follwing error is shown "cannot load request real time data targets".
I checked cube type in setting in infcune is shows as Standard. When I doube clicked on error the following message showed up
You are trying to load data into a real-time InfoCube using a DTP.
This is only possible if the correct load settings have been defined for the InfoCube.
Procedure
In the object tree of the Data Warehousing Workbench, call Load Behavior of Real-Time InfoCube from the context menu of the InfoCube. Switch load behavior to Transactional InfoCube can be loaded; planning not allowed.
I did not understand what it is meant and how to set changes. Can someone advice and follow me through.

Real-time InfoCubes can be filled with data using two different methods: using the transaction for entering planning data, and using BI staging, whereby planning data cannot be loaded simultaneously. With Real time cube you can select the method you want to use for update as
Real Time data Target can be loaded With Data; Planning not allowed &
Real Time data Target can be Planned; Data loading not allowed
You can change this behaviour by right clicking on cube and selecting Change real time load behaviour and select first option. You will be able to load the data then

Which is Better?: Add to multiprovider; Create new ODS; Create new Cube

Which is a better choice:
Add to multiprovider; create additional ODS; create additional Cube?
I have this data flow: 5 ODSes which are aggregated into a single Cube1. A multiprovider then sits on the Cube1. I run Report1 against the multiprovider and from the output, I want to jump (through a jump query) to a much more detailed report.
(information from the different 5 ODSes will be coming together to make a meaning record in the detailed report)
Which of these will be the best modeling approach at this point:
1. Bring in all the detail level information in the 5 ODSes into the multiprovider and create the detail report (against the multiprovider).
2. Create a new ODS and bring in all the detail information from the 5 ODSes into this new ODS_6 and create the detail report against this newly combined ODS_6?
3. Create new Cube2 and bring in all the detail information from the 5 ODSes into this single cube and create the detail report against this newly combined Cube? i.e. without bringing Cube 2 in the multiprovider.
a) Which of these options is the typical thing to do?
b) From performance point of view, which one is better? Any reasons?
c) Do you have a better recommendation to get my report based on the original multiprovider; as well as get the detail (through the jump query)?

Everything is based on how much data you are reading.
Remember: the first and second options are slower because even if you are creating query against the Multiprovider in the first option, both options read directly from the ODS. Technically, ods is not optimized for reporting (reading). ODS is just like a normal relational database table, unless you use the key to read data from, it is very slow (everything is not indexed).
Option 3, is much better in respect of design and performance. Reason, cube support multidimensional analysis, where all char is related with SID which is being generated automatically which increases performance.
My recommendation:
Create another ods (combine all the other ODSes) just like you did in option two, and push summarized data in the cube and detail data in this ods. Write a report again the cube when needed jump to the ods.

Building a new Cube Vs Restricted Key figure in Query - Performance issue

Hi,
I have a requirement to create a OPEX restricted key figure in Query. The problem is that the key figure should be restricted to about 30 GL Accounts and almost 300 Cost centers.
I do not know if this might cause performance issue in the query. At the moment, I am thinking of creating a new OPEX cube and load only those 30 GL Accounts, 300 cost centers and Amount. and include OPEX in multiprovider in order to get OPEX
amount in the report.
whats the best solution - creating OPEX restricted key figure or OPEX cube ?

I think you should go for cube as all the restrcited key figure are calculated at OLAP runtime so it will definitely affect the query performance.There are a lot of costcenter for which you have to restrict it so definitely during the runtime of query it will take a lot of time to fetch tha data from infoprovider.Its better that you create a cube with the restrictions and include it in MP.It will definitely save a lot of time during query execution

Which should be afs compatibble... all the ods and cubes objects start with 0AF...
So i think we should use ODS object which start with 0AF.. for delivery also...

New Cube, Old Query

I have created some 30 queries from Info Cube ABC.
For some reason, we've created a new Info Cube XYZ based on the Cube ABC, with additional Characteristics in it. We will then remove and delete the exiting Cube ABC and only use newly created Cube XYZ.
Question now is how we can migrate and point the existing queries (created from Cube ABC) to this newly created Cube XYZ?

I have created a cube with update rule. And i want to know to how to load all the data from the existing ods to the newly created cube.

Hi haritha,
If you've already created the update-rules, try to create cube, than make a mapping between ODS & Cube.
If done,
1. Right-Click on ODS, find the menu update data to data target.
2. Choose for Init.
If you wanna make it update data to cube automatically, then you must setup the setting in ODS.
1. double-click on it.
2. In setting, you'll see the option for "automatically update data to data target".
3. Choose for it.
