New cups daemon name

I've noticed that an update changed the cups daemon to "cupsd". Now a user would have to do rc.d start cupsd instead of the previous rc.d start cups. This well also mess up your rc.conf because if you have it set to load a daemon named cups it wouldn't load because the daemon has been changed to cupsd. Just thought it would be nice if they could post this change on the archlinux.org homepage

This will not, however, avoid wiping any non-purchased media from your phone (ripped CDs, etc.) as this is only synced one way: from your computer to your phone. I stated that I did try to do all of this when I first set up the new computer...I did do the Setup Assistant numerous times but my old computer kept freezing half way through. Even if I did it when I first got the new computer back in Septemeber, I would have had the same issue b/c my old computer has been 'broken' for a while. My old computer can't handle doing too much at once and I think the setup and then migration functions I tried were too much. That's why I was hoping I could use the migration function piecemeal. I wish I could just check off the exact files and folders I want vs. having to choose it at the 'user' level...that's too much for my old computer to have to transfer.

I changed the captions for my family photos to include names, but when I exported the photos to make DVD's for family members, the old captions were there and not the new ones. How can I make a DVD to include the new captions with names?

iPhoto shows you these Titles but the Finder shows you Filenames
If you export (File -> Export) you'll get the Export dialogue. Note the option at FileName to use the Title as filename for the exported photo

In this case I had already processed this table once before 'no changes' and processed the second time I received this error ...sql execution Failed. It's like the sql server 2008 R2 doesn't see or detect the process. Starting Phase #0 Synchronizing Database:

Based on my understanding, you have installed SQL Server Migration Assistant successfully then you perform migration. After migration, you can’t find the table which you want to migrate to SQL Server 2008 R2 under the database in your SQL Server Management
Studio, then you perform migration again. Then error message “Loading to database new table file name.dbo[table] ... sql execution failed” is thrown out. Please correct me if I misunderstand your meaning.
Firstly, I would like to know whether you perform migration from Access database to SQL Server. I have performed migration from Access database to SQL Server in my lab environment. Based on my test, I could migrate Access database to SQL Server successfully
and table existed under the database in SQL Server Management Studio after migration.
Besides, “sql execution failed” is a general error message. It is hard to find out the cause from this error message. Please check the information under the Output in SQL Server Migration Assistant again. It would be better if you can provide the complete
output information for our deep analysis.

When you configure in a distributed environment, provide a new, unique instance name as you configure each server. For example, if you are using the default instance name epmsystem1 on the first server, and you keep the same naming convention on subsequent servers, you would create new, unique instance names on each subsequent server, such as epmsystem2, epmsystem3, and >so on. What if i use same path "d:\.......\epmsystem1" on all servers in distributed environment?

Mostly i configured different instance name ("D:\oracle\middleware\epmsystem1" and "D:\oracle\middleware\epmsystem2" etc.
but i have one client where i see similar instance on all servers in distributed environment "D:\oracle\middleware\epmsystem1" and "D:\oracle\middleware\epmsystem1" etc.
Please advice? and let me know what could be impact of these two scenario.

Hi turingtest2 - thanks for the reply. As you say It is how it is - and I have three workstations in this home (not counting three for my children and one for the family) and I pretty much always have more than one OS on each - that's how it is for me. I shouldn't have to worry about how many OSs I have (or how often I change them) just to have music while I'm working - through the PC sound system that is. I never have to worry about any other software, only iTunes. Once in a while (in the past) I've made a vendor call if I changed to many things to often (like CPU, GPU, memory, etc - or even a replacement MB) - but that hasn't happened in a couple years (at least since Vista) so I think (hope) they have fixed that for good. And even then it was a quick call and problem resolved. The only (glaring) constant problem is iTunes - limiting my own use of my own music (by counting an OS as a physical PC). Even with VM (which is just another OS) - although you can Attach things to multiple active OSs - it's still your own (purchased) music - and all on one PC. Thanks again!

You can change the name of a device on it via Settings > General > About > Name - you shouldn't need to remove the association and then reassociate it.

You create it on the 1552 once the AP joins. One it joins, you will have to choose that AP and then set the AP mode to Bridge and then apply. This will reboot the AP. Once the AP comes back, you will have a MESH tab on that specific AP or any AP that you have set to Bridge mode. You then set the AP role and the bridge group name there. You're question is hard to follow. Are you looking to rename your master files to the version name? Or are you looking to do something with IPTC caption field and the masters?

Start cups-daemon[SOLVED]

I have been struggeling to have a working print-server for both arch and windows 7 whole day. Installing and reinstalling, removing cups-related files reinstalling again. Had it running for arch-computers but not for windows. Had it running for windows but then I couldn't print with arch-computers. Propably messed up something.
Now when trying to start Cups-daemon i get this error-message:
/usr/sbin/cupsd: error while loading shared libraries: libcupsmime.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Anyone that's having an ide' what's wrong. I can always do a fresh install but I would appreciate not to.
EDIT! I did a reinstall of libcups. Now I have a running daemon!

I solved it by putting "systemctl start cups.service" in the /etc/profile
That worked.

I come from Gentoo and I just installed my new Arch Linux server on a notebook with 2 NIC ... Now, I'm trying to set the CUPS deamon to share printer (HP DESKJET 895Cxi) for 3 workstations in my LAN. Before, it was working (printer and linux ... has never been very good...). But now, I'm not able, and it's about 1 hour I'm looking for a stupid error that I don't know if it's important or not ...

When starting cups service, all is fine : I can use a workstation to browse the Web Interface ... but printer seems to be not detected since it tells "No printers." when clicking on "Printers" tab. So, I go to "Administration" tab and, under "Printers", I click the "Find New Printers" and again, it says : "No printers found.".
Not goot ... so, like I was doing with Gentoo, I click on "Add Printer" ... then, I receive a redirection to HTTPS ... click on the link (or wait) and nothing happend (timed out): web interface is broken for HTTPS ... I really got no idea why HTTPS is not working .
After that, when updating the configuration (with vim) and restarting the service, deamon won't stop and I have to send a "kill -9" to the cupsd pid ...
I look in log and I can just see this :

Some questions :

This printer is working "well" with cups, since it's an old model and it's a HP printer, so is "fully?" working on Linux ...
Any idea on what to do/try now ?
EDIT: after that message, I just refresh the page (I'm using Chromium) and ... magically, HTTPS was working (after accept untrusted certificate for HTTPS?) ... Then, go back to "Find New Printers" and now, it was working. Printer has been added ... Seems to be OK, but the "Print Self Test Page" doesn't work right now because of this :

EDIT3: I tested the ppd from cups (and not hpijs) and got the same problem ... The latest idea was to unplug USB and plug to another USB ... and it seams to works ... Now, the test page print "fine" ...
So, I shared the printer over my LAN, and tried to print from a workstation ... it works fine now ... when looking error_log, I can see than there is no more Ghostscript error .
But I have a last question .. if somebody can answer ... When choosing a PPD file, I have the choice between 3 version :
- hpijs, 3.10.9
- hpijs, 3.10.9.11
- hpcups, 3.10.9
Don't know why onlyl the HPIJS got the ".11" and not any others ... I selected this one and here is what Cups say about the printer :
HP_DeskJet_895C_USB_ES29Z231JKGO_HPLIP HP DeskJet 895C Local Printer HP Deskjet 895c hpijs, 3.10.9.11 Idle - "ready to print"
I hope when upgrading the system, I will not get error from PPD file not found ... With my current PPD file, I get (really not sure) this error, but print is working so, it doesn't matter :

Which is basically Western Digital informing you that their out-of-date utilities don’t support Mavericks.
In any case those utilities are not the most effective. The moral of the story is: the first thing you should do after buying a WD drive is to format it as HFS Extended (Journaled) and not install ANY of their utilities but instead use reliable applications like CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper - or Time Machine.

I just got a new Brother MFC8910dw laser printer/scanner with CUPS driver and on every scan Adobe Acrobat crashes on OS X Mavericks: The scan completes but soon after completion, Adobe crashes.
